From the moment you walk in, you can feel that this isn’t just a restaurant, it’s a place built on tradition, hard work, and a love of serving the community. Pueblo Viejo isn’t just a meal, it’s an experience you’ll look forward to returning to again and again.
We’re from Houston, Texas and have to say that this place was fantastic! Easily our best meal on this trip! We stumbled upon this restaurant after our morning hikes at the Joshua Tree National; I am so glad we did! Food was very fresh and drinks were extra “yummy”, courtesy of our waiter Joel 😂
Fantastic happy hour. We had tostado ceviche for an appetizer which was excellent. Our dinners (Chile Verde and Quesadillas) were even better. Service was perfect; with elcoming, attentive, and professional. We will definitely return!
delicious food, nice margaritas. We had the tres fajitas and really liked them.
Great old school place. Best Chile Rellenos ever! Still my favorite after twenty years in the Valley!
Best mexican food in the desert. I'm here with my wife once a week and I love the steak rancheros. We usually eat at the bar but there's plenty of booths and tables. Get there early - the place is usually full by 4pm...Great service, excellent atmosphere...
Outstanding chips and salsa. Great service and great food. Highly recommend the guacamole and is enough for 4 people. The Chile rellenos are excellent as well
We were a group of seven with reservations for my husband’s birthday. We were on time for happy hour and we all had delicious margaritas. The restaurant was crowded. We have never been there before but our friends recommended we go here. So happy we did! The food was definitely delicious. I had a shredded beef enchilada with rice and beans. This was very good. Way better than most. Everyone else was very happy with their orders. I also loved that the chips and salsa were above par too! Salsa was nice and spicy but not too hot. Go here if you’re craving excellent Mexican food. 👍👍
Very popular, very hip, very crowded, very noisy, very small restaurant, excellent food. On a Saturday evening, our first time here, with no reservations we were told 40 minute wait to be seated. We waited 45. After being seated we were told kitchen is busy so expect a delay. I don’t know how long we waited. It was worth the wait. Our enchiladas and taco were great! The enchiladas were smothered in enchilada sauce just the way we like them. We hate dry enchiladas. The chicken taco was crunchy and very flavorful. Rice and beans were exquisite. Everything was cooked to perfection and served at the correct temperature, not too hot and not too cold on very hot plates. A word about the staff - hostess and waiter, initially, were unfriendly and matter-of-fact stressed by the overload of work from an overcrowded restaurant. After 9 pm, when all customers, who were waiting, were finally seated, we finally got a smile and a friendly word from our waiter. On our way out we thanked the hostess and got her to smile and be friendly. Would we do this again??? Yes we would!
I love it when you walk into a place and it is jumping with energy of people having a good time. They even have Ghost Tequila which the bartender was happy to make my margarita with it. The staff is warm, welcoming and each with their own flare for fun. If you like to take your time and enjoy appetizers first, then wait on giving your main order. Other than that I finished my plate clean, enjoy!
Great meal last night at PVG ! We arrived 7:52. Just in time for their 8 pm Happy hour ! Wings and the sauce so goo good. Nachos devoured. Caeser with shrimp Tasty. Don Julio Anejo chilled to perfection Crispy tacos with carne asado instead of shredded beef hit the spot. Lively and fun time. A couple of large groups were there. This was our second visit. We intend to be regulars.
Place is happening! The lot is always full. The phone off the hook, and online ordering not working. If you do takeout, show up and wait. If you have a large party pretend you're 80 and eat at 5pm.
Food was a little on the bland side but salt and pepper helped a lot. Nice presentation. Very nice staff. Overall, a nice visit
It had been many years since we last ate at Pueblo Viejo Grill, mainly because we don't spend as much time in Indio these days. We remembered it as quite good and obviously the locals also think so since it was packed and when people were told "30 to 35" or "40 to 45 minute wait", they waited. From the employees behavior, it being this busy was normal. Anyway once we were seated our server was quick to show up and make sure she had a drink order. Then came the chips and salsa, which were good. My wife had Arroz con Pollo and was quite happy with her choice. I had Camarones Rancheros and was also happy with my choice. It looks like the good deal here is to come in on Tuesday or Thursday, when the fajitas are on special. Anyway we were happy and could see why the locals were willing to wait.
Picked this restaurant based on reviews but I honestly don’t know what all the hype is about. The food is fine, but just the typical American style Mexican food that you get in any restaurant. We were hoping for great food being in So Cal, but we can get the same in NJ. And the margaritas were just horrible! The worst part was that the waiter charged us for the most expensive margarita too! Had I known, I would have said something, but I thought it was the house margarita and didn’t complain. In all the bill was almost $300 for 5 of us. If you go, beware what you’re being ‘sold’ and keep expectations low.
Three stars for their price. Yes everything went up but beans and rice. Come on now a two item combo is almost twenty five dollars with no drink. I was hoping for golden beans for that price. Just my take. But food is decent.
I liked the atmosphere, the bar area is nice to have a beer and appetizers, they do have a happy hour menu from 3-5pm. The food was OK not bad not super good, it was just OK. The service was good. The food its not authentic mexican food, but more like mex-american. We will be back to try other dishes and see how we feel about it. A+ on the rice it was cooked on point and fluffy.
