Great course when the greens are unpredictable and you aren't hitting behind slow groups. Marshall's are around but ive never seen someone let a group pass through. Daylight savings makes it hard to finish on the weekends after 12:40, but It can be done. Hole 14 is very busy, and plays slow. Be careful of the people on 15. They wont hear a 290 yard fade if u aim middle. Awesome range and putting green. $8.00 hot dogs with chips. Pretty chill bar and service area on the turn. Order food on 7 like everyone.
Rancho San Joaquin Golf Course marks my 110th unique course played. Memorable to say the least. The hospitality is first class. The track is great. I really enjoyed myself. Lower handicap golfers have a chance to be challenged while the course remains fair to higher handicap players as well. They have a great team so go check it out!
Nice area of Newport Beach. The City of Newport Beach put in a landscaped dog park between MacArthur Blvd. And Avocado Avenue which has become very popular with dog owners.
Played 9 holes. Great course in great shape. Thoroughly enjoyed playing there

I've been playing this course for many years and have seen great improvements over the last 18 months. Fairways look great, greens are quicker, and rough is penal! Much better golf experience. Food at the restaurant is very good. Justin and team do a great job. Keep up the good work.

I only practice here. Good bunker practice area, small putting green and pitch/chip area.
Good for practice at driving range. 18 hole course condition is on and off .
Sure is nice after it rain. The greens were lush and nicely kept. Sometimes it was better to be in the bunkers than in the thick rough...
Because of rain carpad only. Course somewhat better because of the rain. Greenkeepers are doing their best. Starters always very friendly 👍

I've played Rancho at least a few times per year for over 20 years. It's been a roller coaster with ownership and management changes, and a near sale and bulldoze for condominiums. Over the 20 years, conditions ranged from awful to just sort of ok. The greens have always been pretty good. Today (March 21st) was the first day in 20 years where (I thought) the course truly is getting into good condition. The bunkers have been re-sanded. The fairways are much greener, even, and lush. The rough is still hit and miss, but that's alright. The tee boxes are in consistenly good shape. The course is way, way better than it's been in decades. And the management and maintenance crew seem to have turned the corner and be really fixing it up. Kudos! It's always been a fun track and perhaps now it'll be in good condition. Fingers crossed.
Course is in good shape. ALL the equipment was in use today, smoothing, mowing, blowing, aerating, sanding, fixing irrigation, maintenance guys were napping while on their breaks.

New carts with a built in tablet that tracks your game! Very neat. Greens were nice. Some places on the fairway were tall, so it was a hit or miss for me. Today seemed like a packed day. We took over 30minutes longer than expected because a group in front of us took their sweet time. Great time though!
First thing first, need to be careful with the greens here in Rancho San Joaquin Golf Course, they're not just fast, but tricky 😯. Hole 4, a dogleg right, the green itself is a hill, particularly the putting area, and the course is so evil to set the ping at the top of the green, so if you're short, ball will roll back out of the green, and if you're long, your ball will be roll over to the tee box of Hole 5, very challengingly 😊 fun !!! Hole 5 & 6 are both another challenges, big ponds in front of the greens on the right (5) and left (6, called Ted's Pond) sides of the fairways, need to make sure your aims with accuracy. Hole 12 is the first challenge in the Back 9, 530 yards Par 5, with big pond on the right side. Hole 14, a big down slope at around 160 yards, you'll gain extra distance from it.
The greens are in good shape the fairways need a bit more time. The layout is good and a nice test of golf ⛳️

Trash collects outside of the bins and is attracting rats that are coming over to our homes and dead in the parking lot. The improvements around the course are better but I wish they would clean up the parking lot and put lids on the dumpsters. They need more dumpsters.
Who is in charge of the greens here? Seriously!! Only play here if you putt better than Tiger Woods. Other than that people were nice, course was ok but definitely not worth the money. I would give it a better rating if the greens weren’t so extremely challenging.

Please save your money. One of the worst course conditions I’ve seen and paid $100 + to play here. Every other hole was cart path only and pace of play was horrible. Definitely won’t be coming back here.

The pace of play is ridiculously slow. 3 hours and 15 mins to get through 8 holes before we called it quits. There are no Marshalls/Rangers on the course to enforce anything. Called the pro-shop to ask for help and was told that they expect pace of play to be slow! Incredibly unprofessional.
Terrible pace. This is a course you will spend 6 hours to finish and the Marshalls and pro shop will do nothing! The course condition is ok but greens are terrible. Full of bumps and divot. There are many other courses to play than this. Never again! Garbage!
If I could give it zero stars, I would. DO NOT sign up for the membership. Worst mistake you will ever make. Make it hard to cancel with app issues and will refuse to help you over the phone. Oh and you would think think they will tell you that you need to cancel 30 days ahead of time when you tell them in the pro shop you are moving soon but no they want to scam you. Spots are never open and you will always be waiting close to an hour to hit a ball if you are lucky. Do yourself a favor and go literally anywhere else. I never leave reviews so this just shows you how all around awful this establishment is.
SHADY billing practices. After cancelling the membership I was billed. After fixing this error on their end, almost 7 months later they try to slip in billing me again. They are now on the "don't allow" black list on my cc
I'd give this experience less than 1 star really!. I scheduled a tee time to enjoy the day with my son on 3/16/25 for a full round at 3:57pm. Still plenty of time to complete 18 holes and enjoy the the daylight, right? I was so wrong!! According to my 18 Birdies App, it took 2hrs 12 min to play 9 holes. Poor management and under staffed, they don't offer a voucher either to come back to complete your round. I quit after 9 holes because the play was so bad! The ambassador on the course was overwhelmed and they had no electronic system to see the pace or where players are on the course. Plus, they mismatched groups, we had two carts and 1 walker in our group. In addition, we did grab a bite to eat at their little restaurant since we had an hour before our tee time. IMO, the food was just ok, $45-$50 for just 2 cheeseburgers, fries and sodas for my son and I. I really had high hopes for this course but I felt at the end of the day, I had wasted my money. The only positive thing at least was I enjoyed a day with my son on a course. Don't think we will be going back unless it's FREE!
