1st time - wonderful experience. The chips and salsa along with the guacamole were yummy 🤤.The roasted ingredients of the salsa quemada are the best I’ve ever had in a restaurant that serves chips & salsa. I couldn’t stop eating it. Sooo delicious. The entire staff is extremely attentive from beginning to end. The precious Tropical decor makes you feel as if you were in a beach’s getaway 🏝️, maybe ✨Tulum✨. So sexy, romantic, happy vibes and relaxing atmosphere at the same time. Great for a family as well as a date . The Pescado a la Veracruzana - Chilean Sea Bass was amazingly great. My tres leches cake was perfection. I’d love to come back soon and try other plates. Totally recommend this awesome 👏 Mexican Restaurant. Thank you 🙏 Javier’s staff for an excellent experience my family and I had❣️
It was my first time visiting the Irvine Spectrum for lunch. I have never been to any Javier's locations so I decided to try it out. The staff were very friendly and professional. My bartender made me 2 great drinks. Cascanes reposado with club soda and lime. I decided to order the arrachera steak medium and it was phenomenal! The restaurant is on the pricier side but it's great for an upscale date or business meeting. All in all I enjoyed and I would definitely come back again.
Absolutely loved the ambiance here! Came for date night and completely enjoyed the atmosphere — the music was awesome and set the perfect vibe. The food was incredibly flavorful; we ordered the taquitos, enchiladas poblanas, and tomahawk pork chop. Every bite was perfection — truly an unforgettable experience and one for the books. I also ordered the guava margarita, which was exquisite — they definitely didn’t skimp on the alcohol! 5 Stars!
What a great place to have very well prepared Mexican food. Our bartender Juan was awesome.! He actually made the experience so much better than I was hoping for. The atmosphere is so pleasant and relaxing. I had the chili relleno enchilada taco plate. The chips and salsa are excellent. Not too spicy but spicy enough.
Javier's was everything! I don't even know where to start. If I could rate over 5 stars I would. The menu had a large selection, with so many different types of tasty options; it had something for everyone. The food we received had incredible flavor and the perfect amount of moisture. The drinks were mixed perfectly and were so delicious. And above all that, the ambiance here is unmatched compared to any other restaurant I've been to. All of your physical senses are fulfilled as you're surrounded by beautiful décor with huge plants, upbeat fun music that really adds to the vibe, and through the delicious aroma, the amazing taste, and the perfect textures, that the food brings.
The food and staff were great, the quality of the food was incredible, the music at first was great but shifted after 15mins to way too loud dance club had to ask it to be adjusted just so my wife and I could hear each other without shouting. So 5⭐️s with a minor note. The food was so good we will definitely be back
If you’re looking for a consistent restaurant to get a meal served correctly without fail, Javier’s is the place to go. We are frequent visitors and know we can count on this place to set the bar even higher each time we go. From their margaritas, to their seafood enchiladas, down to the beans and rice, Javier’s takes pride in putting out delicious meals every single time. The service is always amazing. You can count on there being a wait on weekend nights but it’s worth it every time. Highly, highly recommend.
We’ve enjoyed Javier’s restaurant on many occasions and for several special occasions. The food is consistently delicious and usually served quickly. The service staff is kind and professional. The chips and salsa are great. I like the glasses, the plates, and the silverware too. I recommend making a reservation wherever possible to get a table quickly. The food is also good for takeout. The atmosphere is really nice for in-person dining. They make great drinks too and the fried ice cream is delicious! Enjoy your next celebration here 😀
I honestly thought this would be one of those overpriced, over-hyped restaurant chains. I was wrong. We had a reservation for an early Mother’s Day and got seated immediately. I was surprised since it was a busy BUSY Saturday. The restaurant has really nice vibes. I liked the metalwork decor. The drinks were really good with the exception of Javier’s margarita. The pina colada margarita was good and I drank two of the Jamaica margaritas. We started with the shrimp ceviche. For 3 people, it was a perfect size, leaving room for the entrees and extra chips and spicy salsa you might snack on. We ordered the steak and lobster, seafood enchilada trio, and the chipotle chicken. All 10/10!! The steak was cooked to a perfect medium which rarely happens. The lobster had so much flavor. The enchiladas were so good I wanted to order more to take home. We didn’t have room for dessert because we devoured our plates lol. Our server was amazing as well. He was very attentive and kind. The food came out in good time (again, I was surprised since it was so busy). I would definitely come back here or try the other locations!
There are two locations for Javier in the OC. My favorite location still the one at the Spectrum. We were there for a farewell dinner for one of our girl back to Japan. The girls ordered the same dish which was scallops and I had the ribeye steak. Ordered some side of vegetables and a salad dish. Besides Mastro Steak House I think they made the second best of Chocolate Martini which was one of my favorite cocktail. It was pretty crowded on a Fri night. Reservation is highly recommended cuz this place always pack.
Absolutely Amazing! Great service. Our food was so delicious Amazing, presentation was an A+. Our server Ismael was phenomenal. Busboys were very professional and accommodating. Hostess/front podium could be more welcoming and friendly. I had to great them before they greeted me and on my way out I once more thanked them and said goodbye while the two young man sat there talking about life.
My husband and I went here because we had seen it featured in a magazine article and we love Mexican food. We went casual because it was in a mall, but immediately noticed that as an evening date you could easily come dressed. Chips and salsa were fresh and delicious. When we saw the menu there was a bit of a sticker shock, not what we expected, but when the food came it was well worth it. My husband's favorite is Chile Verde so he ordered that. The chunks of pork were huge! The sauce was also tangy the way he likes it. I ordered the beef enchilada, chicken tamal, and beef taco. The enchilada was the best of the three, but the green sauce on the tamal was a close second. There was enough food for both of us to bring home seconds. Service was also excellent. They filled up my ice tea at least 4 times without me ever having to ask or really notice. Would definitely come again for dinner and try some of their pricier dishes! 4 years later this place is still good. Went for dinner with friends. Service is top-notch, with waiters coming frequently to check on you.
The ambiance, the staff, the dishes and the drinks were all top notch. I can understand why Javier's is such a go to restaurant that you'd need a reservation for or suffer to wait the 1 hour or more wait as a walk-in diner. The dishes were well plated and delightful to eat from beginning to end. The restaurant felt like a club, the music playing could make you dance in your seat and the staff were pleased to make sure your dining experience was comfortable. I could not have been more pleased and would definitely come again. Tl;dr - this is an expensive dining experience that caters to the adult crowd and will definitely need a reservation otherwise you'd wait a long time. Worth it though.
We are 4 businessmen from Sacramento, and were totally impressed. All of us got the Fillet, appetizers, desert and wine. Atmosphere, customer service, location, and all food was top notch! They did a great job here.
If you're looking for a place where the ambiance, service, and food all come together perfectly, Javier’s is a must-visit. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere captures your attention—elegant yet welcoming, with a warm and lively vibe that makes you feel right at home. One of the standout dishes at Javier's is their pasta, which combines the rich flavors of crab and shrimp in a way that’s both indulgent and satisfying. The seafood is fresh, and the pasta is cooked to perfection, making each bite a delightful experience. It's clear that the kitchen puts a lot of care into their dishes. Another highlight was the service. The staff was attentive, friendly, and ensured we had everything we needed throughout our meal. They even treated us to a delicious serving of nachos to start—crispy, flavorful, and the perfect appetizer to whet the appetite. Overall, Javier’s offers an exceptional dining experience. Whether you're craving great food or looking for a place with a fantastic atmosphere, this spot checks all the boxes. I’ll definitely be returning for another round of that mouthwatering pasta!
The Irvine Spectrum location has a great energy and I’ve always wanted to try it, especially knowing Kobe Bryant was a big fan of Javier’s (even if it was not this exact spot). My wife and I came on a kid-free double date with friends, which basically never happens, and we ended up having an awesome night. The place is beautiful inside, our server was attentive without being overbearing, the food hit the spot, the drinks were on point, and dessert wrapped everything up perfectly. I will not overdo the breakdown but the chips and salsa are ridiculous. We ate way too much before ordering. The guacamole is great too. We started with the aguachile and, if you are into shrimp, it is a must. For the mains we had the steak fajitas, the trio de enchiladas del mar, and the mole poblano. If I had to rank them I would put the enchiladas first, the mole second, and the fajitas last. For dessert we tried the tres leches which none of us loved, the churros which were really good and made in-house, and the cornbread which was the surprise winner. The ice cream makes it even better. Drinks were strong. We started with spicy margaritas and then tried a spicy pepino margarita. Both are very refreshing and absolutely worth ordering. The price was not bad at all considering how much we ordered and how good the service was. I would definitely come back, though part of me wants to try the Newport location next since I have heard so much about it. Thanks to Javier’s for giving four tired parents a stress free night out.
Recently visited for my bday back in September and went back a few days ago this month of October to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. It’s the best atmosphere. The best tasty Mexican food I’ve ever had. Most amazing customer service from every employee there. Lady stationed in the restroom is very nice and polite. Waiters are very friendly and welcoming. The environment is nice and relaxing to have a great time. Drinks are my fav 10/10
I went to Javier’s Irvine with my friend and the experience was amazing. The staff is super attentive, always checking in to see what you need, and they make you feel welcome from the very first moment. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, perfect for enjoying with friends or a date. I tried the chile relleno and it was delicious, with that authentic touch you look for in Mexican food. Everything on the menu looked appetizing and well presented. Definitely we’ll be back very soon. Highly recommend it if you’re looking for great food and a place where you feel comfortable! 🌮❤️
The food was excellent. We had a variety of Mexican dishes at our table, from salads to quesadillas and more. Everyone was pleased with the taste and quality of their food. The margarita was small but strong and tasty. The prices are definitely on the higher side for higher quality. Parking was in one of the garages for the spectrum shopping center. We would eat here again.
This place is a great spot with amazing ambiance. The service is top notch. We went there for a few drinks and really enjoyed the margaritas.
Jose is a phenomenal server. He offers/provides excellent customer service. Again thank you for serving our table.
One of the best places that we enjoyed the high-quality food and service at was the Irvine Spectrum Center.
I love Javiers, I come here every time I visit California. The food and drinks are always delicious, and I absolutely love the atmosphere. This is easily one of my favorite restaurants.
The most expensive but most crowded restaurant I've ever been to at the Irvine Spectrum Center. it's because the food is delicious, the staff is friendly, and the antique decorations and music are very good. We booked a room for a group meal, but even if we’re full, didn't meet the minimum guarantee, so it would be a good idea for big eaters or alcohol lovers to come together. Fried ice cream was so good for me that definitely worth trying for dessert.
Celebrated my friend’s and my birthday here and had the best time! The food was great, the staff were so sweet. I tried La Tablita for the first time — the portion was generous and it was so good. And of course, the shrimp tacos were absolutely the best! It was such a happy and memorable night!
This is an upscale trendy Mexican food restaurant. It gets super busy on the weekends. Make reservations if want to be able to get a table, even for the bar area.
Update: 6/10/2025 Talked to the Supervisor over the phone. She handled the situation very professional and all I had to do was return to the Javier’s Irvine location for my partial tip refund. Update: 6/3/2025: After leaving a review on Facebook, I received a comment on my post to respond with my info on Javier’s instant messenger. I posted the photo of that exchange. Now, I finally talk to an employee on the phone, the employee is telling me, that she has to get my refund from the waitress. Update: I’ve emailed and sent direct messages on social media without any response from Javier’s Irvine. This review is for a heads up on the 20% forced gratuity. So you know in advance. Update: I just noticed the forced 20% gratuity added to the bill. Server didn’t not tell me about that charge. The bill was $258, so I gave the server $300, thinking I was only giving a $42 tip, when actually I gave an $82 tip. I’m very concerned about this forced tactic without the server letting me know. Great food, great ambience, waitresses and waiters are very friendly and efficient. Very nice, high class restaurant. The whole meal was great, everyone at my table liked the food and had a great time!
Husband made a mistake by thinking he made a reservation at their Newport Beach location. He didn't realize it until we arrived. He called the Irvine Spectrum location to explain the situation & they were very accommodating, keeping our reservation open to allow us the time to travel from Newport to Irvine. There was a line when we arrived, but because they kept our reservation open, we were sat almost right away. Five stars given for this reason. Otherwise, my food was good but not spectacular. However, my husband did enjoy his pork chop & said it good. He's a "foodie," so that means it was probably pretty good! Our waiter was simply okay. He did his job; nothing like the great reviews I read about & hoped to receive.
Unbelievably beautifully played and delicious upscale Mexican restaurant When you walk in it like walking onto the deck of a beautiful old sailing ship with rope rigging covering the ceiling. Feels like a combination of an exclusive gentlemen’s club mixed with a sailing ship and museum. I love the ambience. Metal sculptures are everywhere and the layout is mots of booths and privacy. But the food. It is bright, beautifully and fanciful. But the favor is spectacular. I ordered the Enchiladas De Cangrejo Wow! It was stuffed full of Dungeness crab. I couldn’t finish it. My wife had the Filete Antiguo. The Filet Mignon was so tender and perfectly grilled. We also have the Ceviche De Cameron. The shrimp was large, plump, and so fresh. To let you know how good it was, my wife dosnt eat any seafood period. But our son pushed her to try it and she loved it so much she ordered another one for herself. And don’t forget their signature Fried Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. So decadent. My son Cody conduct take client here and he says it never fails to impress. And don’t forget their expansive bar. Full of special brand tequilas.
The atmosphere here is off the charts! It's a gorgeous space with lots of unique decor. Great covered outdoor space for dining that has heaters over every table. The space is very comfortable. The staff is also top notch with a high level of service and we're very friendly. Great spot for a high level business lunch. The food was very good, but honestly I expected more from the level they're trying to play at. Don't get me wrong, everything people ordered was good, and we had NO complaints. However, it wasn't as flavorful as I expected from the high level of presentation.

First timer here. It was overall very good. I think the price was slightly high but the food taste good and the servers were super friendly so it balances out. I came around 530pm on a Friday with a party of 4. Was seated immediately. The restaurant was clean and the ambiance was superb...romantic, beautiful, and perfect for date nights but also for bug groups.
The food here is really good but definitely on the pricy side. I had the enchiladas and the crab over was delicious. The cocktails were good but not amazing. Very expensive for what it is. Service was nice but a little slow. It took a long time in between courses and drinks. Somewhere I would go once every few years but definitely not regularly.
The ambience is superbly elegant. Service is outstanding. We were seated quickly. Our waiter Octavio was amazing. He made some recommendations and was extremely pleasant and friendly. Their chips and salsa were very fresh and good. Our food order came out quick and accurate. It looked great but sadly it lacked flavor. For the price, I expected much more. It was a bit of a let down. The desert was good, but again, it was overpriced and wasn't anything special. I know it's not authentic Mexican food. Maybe best for happy hour or for drinks at the bar. Javier's is great if you're looking for an aesthetically pleasing restaurant with nice ambiance and outstanding service but the food was meh at best... Especially when it's as bit on the pricy side.
I found this gem of a restaurant during my event visit to Orange County. My colleague invited me for drinks and dinner here and every item I drank and ate are really good. The chips and salsa on the table are very fresh to my surprise aswell. The atmosphere is amazing and service is top notch. I would like to visit this place often and try other items. The Tamarindo (Tamarind Margarita) is out of the world and so does their Guacamole.
Great energy and lots of seating...enjoyed the view of the fireplace. Table chips were inconsisitent...some undercooked...little too much salt for my liking. But salsa was fresh and a nice way to mask the saltiness. Shrimp and crab enchiladas were outstanding! Plenty of flavor, loved the filling, and the sauce was delicious...but for over $30 it would have been nice to include a small salad or a side of rice.
Hi Everyone (who sees this review & Javier’s Management) : We visited this restaurant today at lunch to celebrate a birthday event. Overall, the experience was amazing and we enjoyed thoroughly. Ambiences were really nice and great exp. to be there. Food was fantastic! We ordered following items : (1) Guacamole (2) Quesadilla (3) Empanadas De Camaron (4)Pollo Chipotle (5) Churros (6) Flan (7) 2 Drinks (Tamarindo Margarita) Overall food was very tasty but Guacamole, Quesadilla and Pollo Chipotle need a special call out — deserts were amazing too. Food and Atmosphere I have rated 5. Reason I have rated 4 in “Service” — team really need to work in this area! They need to be bit more friendly and serves customers with smile and real good behavior. Overall, I might call them “rude” as well in some occasions to be honest. Overall, our experience was very nice!

Taste does not match the price. I'm sure the ingredients do. But nothing wows me. $600 for 3 couples to each enchiladas and tacos that were meh at best.
We recently celebrated my lovely wife’s birthday at Javier’s, which used to be one of her favorite restaurants. Our evening started off at the Newport Beach location, but it was incredibly crowded. When I asked the front desk for a nice table with a view, we were rudely told that it could take up to two hours to get what we wanted. This lack of customer service was disappointing, so we decided to try our luck at the Irvine location instead. The Irvine location was much better in terms of service. Check-in was smooth, and we were seated without any waiting time. The ambiance was pleasant, which set a nice tone for the evening. We ordered some drinks and guacamole for an appetizer. For the main entrees, my wife chose her favorite steak Picado, and I opted for the enchiladas de Mariscos. While the chips and salsa were complimentary, and we appreciated the free flan for my wife’s birthday, the overall dining experience was underwhelming. The portions were small relative to the high prices, which didn’t seem justified. My seafood entree was overly salty and unenjoyable, which was quite disappointing for a place that prides itself on fine dining. For dessert, we ordered a tres leches cake in addition to the complimentary flan. Both desserts were decent, but not enough to elevate the overall dining experience. The check came to nearly $300 for four people, which seemed excessive given the quality and portion sizes of the food. In summary, while Javier’s offers a nice ambiance, the food and service at the Newport Beach location left much to be desired. The Irvine location was better in terms of service but still did not meet our expectations for the price. Unfortunately, Javier’s is no longer a highly recommended place on our list. We were left feeling that we were paying more for the experience rather than the quality of the food.
The servers were extremely rude, bumping into me on purpose, walking like they were zombies! The food is good but not for the price, it's way over priced, especially when you have a bad experience in the restaurant, I'm not cheap, but I want a peaceful atmosphere for the price. I wouldn't go here ever again. Go to El Coyote in LA peeps, you'll love it, and you might see some celebrities.

Server was extremely rude. I have no idea if it was because we were a younger group but our server had an unfriendly demeanor and was unattentive. Asked if we were sharing plates! And almost didn’t take my friend’s order next to me until I pointed it out. They were also wiping down the table as we were sitting there which ruins the ambiance of their, “upscale dining”. Felt as though we were being rushed to leave.
Alright.... This location for Javier's has definitely not lived up to their brands name at all. Upon walking in we were greeted immediately. They brought us to an a middle seat, immediately asked to be moved. Asked for a booth at 4pm. Was denied even though NO one was in here. It was empty. And by the time we left? Still empty. Seating experience was terrible. Moving onto the service and food. Waiter seemed slightly confused. Kept grabbing another waitresses hand like they had more important things to do. Really awkward. He wasn't very attentive. Just came by twice for the hour we were there. Beef taco. Extremely dry. Couldn't even eat it after two bites. Cheese enchilada. Cheese wasn't even melted. With the usual hot plate put into a heating area to warm up all pre made food obviously. Taco Bell tastes better. Chili relleno. Batter was good, cheese was melted. This was the only highlight. Bathroom. Paper all over the floor. Water everywhere. Smelled horrible. Needless to say after all I've said. I will not return here. And I don't recommend this location. Crystal cove location stands on top for Javier's. The food there tastes much different. The staff is 10x better. The view is obviously beautiful as well. So unfortunately. I won't be back here.
I know Mexican food and this is my review. Visited on April 11th...no waiting, friendly hostess and beautiful decor and great atmosphere. That aside, we were sat next to where waiters punch in the orders and their private conversations could be heard. Secondly, the prices are ridiculous for the amount of food we got. I was told my order only had 5 prawns which I acknowledged...but I assumed they would be jumbo for charging $50... received only 4, poorly season (no salt) a small portion of rice and that's it. No tortillas as other Mexican restaurants provide? Nothing. The other plate ordered was tasty but again overpriced, $34 for tacos. I have paid way more for other dining experiences, that's not the issue-and I don't mind; I just have to see the value of it. I paid, tipped (our waiter was professional) and left. The ambiance is great but not worth it food-wise. This is why my rating is as such.
Pretty underwhelming. The food was ordinary—nothing memorable or unique for the price point. Portions were fine but flavors felt flat, and the dishes didn’t justify the premium. The space is nice and the service was decent, but overall it’s more about the scene than the food. For what it costs, I expected much better.

Took my wife for her birthday 3/3/2026 the service was terrible, we sat down in patio , the waiter came over and no smile no nothing. I order fajaitas they cam e out no sizzle ,flour tortillas cold, I told waiter there is no sizzle he said pretend , I looked at my wife and said ok , he never came back to check on us. Also we started smelling gas , i told waiter it smells like propane , he laugh and said dont worry. I walk to find manager, and said i smell propane or gas he said its one off the sticks, Outside, never came to check on us and everyone else had a heater we were cold. NEVER COME HERE TERRIBLE SERVICE AND TERRIBLE MANAGER.
We came here on a Tuesday night during the holiday period with a 4 adults, a child and a baby. The hostess was extremely rude and acting mighty. She also told us strollers were not allowed. We asked if we can leave the stroller at the entrance and were told we cannot. The restaurant is in a mall and this meant the restaurant wants us to walk upto 2 miles to go back and put the stroller back in our car and walk back 2+ miles carrying the baby in hand. It seems like they want to inconvenience parents on purpose so they are discouraged to visit. Not a pleasant experience to start with. When we came back we again had to wait and after a few minutes and were told there’s a table for 4 available for a party of 6(4+child+baby) and we had to wait if we need a bigger table. This is despite having a reservation. We were already about 30-40 min past reservation at that time so we said yes. We were put in a thrown away corner of the restaurant (probably because we had the baby) where we could barely enjoy the vibe. We had a calm baby but don’t know why we were penalized when we ended up spending a bomb on fairly average food and drinks. Service was mediocre as we spent a long time waiting for the wait staff but we were slapped an automatic service charge as we were a party of 4 and a child and a baby.. we were never told about this in advance. Overall we were not felt welcome and it reflects poorly on their ability to welcome families. Food was average and vibe was great only if the service was decent to actually enjoy the food and vibe.
Save yourself money and go somewhere better. I went here on a Sunday night. My friend and I were sat immediately at a table right next to the entrance facing the bar, the table is bisected by a corner. We didn't want to have our backs to all the people walking, so we were sitting against the corner with the wall in between us. The other reviews are right about the music being loud, between the wall and the music, nothing could be heard unless we shouted. It was pretty awful. To make it worse, we didn't get spoken to by a waiter or staff for 15 minutes. Tables that were sat after us were waited first. To top it off, the water cups were plastic. For a place with single plates of food costing $40, I would at least expect glass cups. Save your money and go somewhere else. The Spectrum has much better options.
