Fantastic food. Great staff. We were escorted to our booth by the most wonderful host. I am not sure if he was the owner's son or grandson but he was a professional through and through.

We were greeted by a smiling friendly man, Ismiel. He explained to me and my wife about the various lunch choices. My wife was eager to have some street tacos and I chose the Fajitas. Both were delicious. Barbara made sure we had plenty if chips & hot sauce. STOP RIGHT HERE. Let me say the sauces were great. Some restraunts have runny, watered down stuff that runs out the ends of your taco. NOT HERE. Ok, the food was fantabulous. Ismiel was great host/waiter. He answered questions that we have learned to ask to check out the quality and preparation of food and beverages to not be disappointed. We were beyond satisfied. We are coming back and bringing friends and family, even though it's 45 min or more to get there. Lived this place.

I'm a regular here, and have been to this restaurant at least a hundred times as I live nearby. The servers are always friendly, and even remember my order when I walk in! Very good flavor, and the place is always kept clean. Low prices. I always look forward to eating here. To those of you who left negative reviews claiming that it is not real Mexican food: Remember, it is tex mex! This means it has American influences as well! It's not supposed to be completely the same as traditional Mexican food. My only complaint is that lately the cheese in the enchiladas has not been melted, and I had to ask for it to be heated up more. Also, they sometimes add too many onions. However, this is a recent problem. I think they may have hired a new cook or something. In the past, their food has been perfect. I don't think this is worth deducting a star since this is just a minor problem that has developed just recently. In any case, definitely worth the visit. If you're in Jefferson, be sure to stop by. Also, they have little hard candies on the front desk! Grab one as you're walking out. They're a nice touch to the restaurant.

Honestly one of the best Mexican food restaurants in the area! I'd rather eat here than almost anywhere within 50 miles. Service is awesome. I highly recommend the Chipotle Fajitas! Delicious!

My flash from the past. My family loves Don Juan's Romantic Mexican food. Just look for the big sombrero in the sky and the ukelele inside has been there since opening. It is part of Grand Prairie history and the ambiance has not changed over the past six decades, the food has remained inexpensive, and they have been using the same recipes and ingredients since it opened. Just look for the unique building design which looks like a sombrero! Enjoy.

We stopped for dinner after being on the road for about twelve hours. There was no time to check reviews. We needed to order get our food visit the facilities and head on down the road for another three or four hours. We were pleasantly surprised by our visit to Don Juan's Mexican restaurant. I had street tacos made with grilled chicken and my partner had a soft taco with cheese sauce, if I recall correctly, and a beef enchilada. The service was especially good, the food was tasty, and the restaurant was well maintained, clean and inviting. I can't say enough about the wait staff who took care of us. Orders were taken promptly, our drinks were topped off when we needed, and our dinner came out quickly. As with most Mexican restaurants, the food was reasonably priced. It's Google Maps every routes Us by Don ones again we will probably be back. It's about a four-hour drive from where we live in Tulsa oh, so who knows when that might be.

Owners, management and staff are very friendly, polite, courteous and professional. They each have full knowledge of their menue and are confident in answering any questions they are asked. The food is freshly prepared, seasoned and perfectly cooked. The portions are very generous. My husband and I have been in the Jefferson facility more times than we have fingers and toes. Whether it's just the two of us, a party of 6 to 9, a party of 20 to 25 and even a party of more than 25, the food is cooked perfectly, and the service has always been excellent. The "Don Juan family" truly care about their customers. Thank you all for always taking good care of me, my family and friends. GOOD FOOD GOOD PEOPLE GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

We were on a road trip and it was pretty late at night. We were desperate to not have fast food - Don Juan’s was the only place we could find that was open and we were wary … but our fears were allayed quickly. The staff was friendly, the food was fantastic - it came out pretty quickly and if we are ever driving through Jefferson, TX again we will stop!

Everything was great! Noise level was a bit uncomfortable and the lighting is a bit brighter than most places. Don’t know if we will dine in again, but definitely would take out or get delivery for sure in the future!! Food was exceptional!

Best Mexican food in Jefferson, tx! No joke it's great.

If you find yourselves in this town and not sure what your dining options are, this joint is your best bet. We were there just after lunch time on a Tuesday and the place was not busy but about a quarter full. We were quickly seated and our order was taken once we're ready. The waiter was very friendly. We have some diet restrictions and asked for omissions and replacements of ingredients and he had great attitude about it. The free chips and salsa are great. I had a lunch special beef fajitas and it was very good. My wife had a shrimp dish (I don't remember the name) and it too was good. The price was what you would expect at a decent Tex Mex restaurant in Texas. No complaint here. Overall, a very good experience.

Best place in the area for Mexican food. We are really Mexican food snobs ... we like hot salsa and tasty food. Got both here. Our server was eh but manager stepped and pulled up slack. He even went over and above to find a couple tshirts I wanted.

The food is good and the service was excellent. I'm from San Antonio so I am used to excellent Mexican food, but this place surprised me with a good menu and tasty food. My only issue for me was that they didn't have any hot sauce or peppers to spice it up. They do have some mild sauces that could be good for those who are not used to the heat like I am.

It was okay. My husband ordered a plate that was listed as a "steak" but it was very thin, we think it was fajita meat. Okay for those but not what you expect when you order a steak. The place was clean and the people very nice. Will go again.

Every time we visit Jefferson, which is often because much of my family lives there, we come here to get our fajita fix. Great atmosphere, food and service. I know a lot of other people rave about their seafood and other menu items, and I'm sure they are every bit as good as the reviews say, but I'm a simple man who likes to keep things even simpler so my order is always the same: fajitas. No muss, no fuss. Which should say something as after all these years of dining on fajitas across the country, I'm a connoisseur of not just fajitas, but chips & salsa. This place has the goods.

Since the order was to go, I had to order thru grubhub. Grubhub Didn't get my order rt! Even though I had 30 min to communicate via text, there was NO response. The food was excellent!

I was out of town alone and it was in same parking lot as my motel or I' ve gone somewhere else. No other customers. But by the time i was done the crowd had shown up . The food was really good .The service was good and prices were fair. i didnt like being told they were out of glasses when I requested one with my corona.

Went in for a drink and an appetizer. The margarita was great. As far as margaritas, they have regular margaritas or flavored (strawberry, peach & mango). We had the strawberry & mango and were both delicious. The Don Juan’s Botana Platter had a great combination of food. Quesadilla, Nachos, Flautas & Stuffed Jalapeño. We weren’t disappointed with any item on our plate. We’ll be back for an entrée soon.

I ate all my food it was delicious except the cheese on the nachos was not melted and had more of a glue consistency. I enjoyed my time here the food came fairly quick and our server attended all our needs and wants. The price was right for the cosmos. I hope to come back to Don Juan’s restaurant. 10/10 would highly recommend it.

Food was ok for your standard Tex Mex place. The service was very prompt and the staff were all nice. Prices were a bit steep for the quality of food considering lunch by myself cost $20 for a single course meal and sweet tea. All and all 3 stars is a fair if not generous score for this little Mexican restaurant.

We had a WONDERFUL waitress, but decent service. The food was quite bland and a little hard to eat. We appreciated the polite staff, but the food just wasn't good and the tea was so diluted, we thought it was water.

The food was a little lack luster. However, the service was outstanding. Our waitress checked in us quite frequently. Staff was very friendly and inviting. The chips and salsa was the best. I had it for breakfast the next day.

Personally, I was not a fan of the food but their service was great! Boyfriend enjoyed his plate. I’ll try something different next time.

The food is not great. It was OK. Standard stuff. Overpriced for this level of quality. Taco Bell makes better tacos. They added 18% gratuity because there were 6 at our table even though it was a split tab. Then added another fee because I used a credit card. They give you the receipt to sign and it has TIP open as if it was not already included, so some people might actually double tip. The food was just really bland. Might want to dump hot sauce on everything. Service was fine - friendly and very attentive. Food came out pretty quick. Not horrible - it could just be so much better.

I ordered the cheese enchiladas and my husband the tacos al carbon plate with beef fajitas. The rice and beans had a good flavor but the drinks had a slight taste like plumbing pipes: specifically the pink lemonade. It’s a bit difficult to describe it but it’s like dirt and metals? The cheese inside the enchiladas had the “glue-like” consistency that another reviewer mentioned. The beef fajita tacos were good and the meat was cooked well so that it felt as if the meat was “melting” in your mouth, describes my husband. The employees seemed pretty nice and our waitress Reyna was very attentive. I’m from out of town but I most likely won’t eat there the next time I’m here.

Well, we were visiting from out of town and wanted some Mexican food and saw the reviews for here and thought we'd give it a shot. Not impressive at all. The best thing was the seafood salad I got which, in all fairness, was lacking in the seafood department, there were a whole 3 shrimp and small bits of krab meat in it. The seafood enchiladas I got were disappointing. The shrimp was cooked well, the tails came right off, but they weren't seasoned and the sauce appeared to just be a sour cream sauce from a can. The biggest disappointment wasn't the food though, it was the wait. It took about 35 minutes to get to the table. Two other couples sat down after us and got their food before us and we only ordered enchiladas, nothing fancy or complicated. The only reason I'm leaving 2 stars instead of 1 is because of the staff. The gentleman up front that sat us and took our payment was very kind and professional and even apologized to us about the long wait as did our waitress who was on top of our drinks and chips and very on top of things!! Great work on the front of house! Not so hot in the back .

The service was absolutely great but the food didn't live up to what I had heard about Don Juan's. The rice was too cool and dry. The refried beans tasted like they came out of a can without any spices. My enchiladas were over cooked with no taste. Just to get some flavor I poured the salsa for our chips all over my food. We will not be eating at this restaurant again and I would not recommend it to anyone else.

Food was pretty good when I finally got it. I ordered the fajitas and the waitress brought out my rice and beans. Then walked away. And for 15 mins I sat there without the rest of my food while my family was already eating. We had to get a buss guy to ask her about it cause she was just up at the counter ignoring her tables. Service was terrible. All of the employees were gathered on a separate dining area laughing and carrying on. My husband and I were the only customers and after the waitress took our drink order she brought it out then disappeared back to the other dining area. Finally after about 8 to 10 minutes another person brought out some chips and salsa. The salsa was very runny and the chips tasted like they were dipped in old fryer oil. We waited another 8 to 10 minutes before the waitress came to take our order. After the order came we began to eat and the ground beef burrito dinner was way too salty. My husband ordered the ground beef enchiladas and said the same about the beef being way too salty. Waitress did moy come back for drink refills and over all was a very pleasant person but had lousy customer service. Would not recommend this particular location. Hopefully the other 2 locations are better

june 2021 restaurants AC is out and they didn't offer water! the bar/cantina is a joke. your only choices are beer or pre-made margaritas. waitress was obviously bored/tired or didn't care. not as we remembered.

Didn't get fajita beans with fajita plate ordered. Waitress was not really interested in making it right. Price keeps going up with each visit as portions get smaller and smaller. Don't recommend it.

Fod tastes bland kinda seemed watered down. I got the Chile rellano with beef. Our server was sweet and honest. Needs to beef up the flavor for a Hispanic restaurant. The tea tasted like instant tea. Apparently they used to have military discount but for some reason stopped. Im a little patriotic and that automatically puts you in a low rating for me. Support our troops!!

Was extremely disappointed taco salad did not stand up to anything if I'd ever had before if it was awful and instead of using shredded lettuce they used garden mix with cabbage and carrots put it at bottom so did not see it bowl had 3/4 garden mix and very little meat certainly not enough me may have been 2 tablespoon or. cheese or sour cream. Food was not good waitress was very nice when ask her what in taco salad never said garden mix

The food is always good!!! Unfortunately we have had multiple waitresses that stand at one end of the table and pass the food down. Several times had to get the staffs attention for refills.

Wish I could give 0 stars . The food was absolutely horrible. Spanish rice was all dried out like it sat around all day ,which it probably did. The refried beans looked like they were drowning in grease. The soft chicken tacos were so dried out and just nasty.

If I could give a no star for the service I would. The waiter took 12 minutes to bring us our drinks. When the food was ready, she brought my wife's plate first, then brought mine 8 minutes later. It would've been nice to have started eating with my wife. However, my wife wouldn't start eating till mine was brought out, because she wanted to eat WITH ME instead of without me. If I could rate half star I will do it. Beans were not the same in one of the three dishes we ordered. I order Carne asada Combo because I wanted to eat guacamole and it was a tiny spoon on top of my Carme asada. You are hungry come eat, but don’t expect good Mexican Food.

I hate giving terrible reviews ,but this place was disgusting. When we got to our table and throughout our waiter was pretty decent. We all got enchiladas. Mine was cold and both my boys love cheese enchiladas and both of them ate a couple of bites and said they were full. The enchiladas did not even look or taste like enchiladas. I love trying new things ,but the cheese was not even melted inside. I really tried to like it ,but it was all terrible. Do not eat here seriously.

My brother his wife and I go here alot bit latley it seems they've been overcharging. I've mentioned it before they gave us a "free brownie" but the other day they charged my brother and his wife 53 dollars for two dinners the only extra thing was his wife's guacamole 53.00 dollars???? I got a super burrito and have been charged nearly 20.00 dollars for that atleast 5 times on the menu the price of super burritos only 11.99 I think. The people are great foods ok just dunno why this keeps happening I definitely won't be back

I’ve had several negative experiences here. I was in a pinch to cater an event. I catered for 100+ people and was charged the menu price for a 2 enchilada, I beef taco plate with rice and beans. On short notice, I had no choice to agree to the terms. The 2nd incident, I was quoted $17 a head to do an enchilada and taco buffet. It was way crowded and food kept running out with a wait for more food to be brought out. Towards the end, there was no more food to be had, including for myself as I waited for others to eat. After I paid the agreed amount, I was presented with a bill for $300 over the agreed price. Apparently I was charged an 18% gratuity on top of the agreed price even though the attendees left tips on the tables for the waitstaff. I will NEVER spend another penny at the restaurant!!!

Our first and last visit to this place. The Server seemed like she was the only one working tables because she was all over…. The food not so good… The beans and rice were cold the meat was just ok the salsa that came to the table tasted like it was fresh from a tin can. Bland and flavorless food… Yes we said something to the server and yes she said Sorry but that was it. Yes we paid for the food no we didn’t want free food but we wanted hot food. A total waste of 40.00

First off, the service was on point! But Buyer Beware! $11.99 for the "large" margarita, does not mean extra alcohol. My blended margarita stayed frozen for over a half hour. I doubt there was even 1.5 oz in the pour (typically the amount that's poured into a normal mixed drink). We were also charged $6 for children's drinks (not included in their meals), an 18% gratuity on split tabs, and an additional credit card fee. And they still asked for a tip after the fact. Not only providing a line for said tip but several options for different percentages. We were very shocked when we received our bill. Deceiving customers like that is just bad business practice.

I don't usually write negative reviews, but I feel it's important to share my experience to inform others. This restaurant may have once been a great spot with good food, but unfortunately, that is no longer the case in 2024. My friend ordered enchiladas and specifically asked for kind with cilantro sauce. Instead, she received a flavorless red tomato sauce. Additionally, the avocado tasted old. As shown in my photo, I ordered nachos and was quite surprised to receive only six chips with cold, hard cheese on top. My friend ended up sharing some of her chips with me. Charging $9 for six chips is unreasonable. It seems the restaurant could benefit from improving their food quality. I wouldn't be surprised if some items are precooked. I pray that they improve because I want good businesses to thrive but you must do better to make it happen.
