This place was awesome. I love trying different Thai places and this place seems to really capture the best of what thai has to offer. The aromas, flavors, and atmosphere are perfect. The golden bags were amazing. I also got the drunken noodles; thai spicy and it's was very spicy and very delicious. There thai tea was also high quality.
My husband and I love eating Tony Thai’s whether it’s inside dining or taking it to go through their convenient drive through window. The food is always consistent and delicious! Highly recommend their Pan Fried Dumplings and also there Thai Tea is really good! If you’re looking for Thai food this is certainly your new go to spot!
This restaurant is one of the best in town. My girlfriend and I go on dates here all the time. The food is hot and made to order. The prices are very good and the portions are huge. We never have to wait long to get our food and there have never been any issues. I've been going here for years and will continue to. Also a great place to order to-go.
The food merited the high rating this restaurant had, but what impressed me more was the customer-centered mentality. My vegetarian friend realized too late that his dish was made with a sauce made from oyster, which he couldn't eat. The waitress was very gracious and took away his plate and brought a different dish, and he was not made to feel bad about it in any way. So for customer service and attitude I give 5 stars.
I absolutely loved this restaurant. My boyfriend and I went around 7:00pm on a Thursday evening. The wait staff is amazing, and the food was even better. I am not a fan of curry, but theirs is out of this world! Plus, all of their facilities are clean and the floors were swept nearly spotless. For dessert we tried the pineapple sherbert and it was so yummy! I 100% recommend Tomy Thai's.
My wife absolutely loves the beef pho and the fried rice with chicken was Amazing. The waiter Alex was also freaking great! He was so so so nice and was just over all an excellent waiter. 10/10 would eat again 😎
Awesome restaurant. You can't go wrong ordering Phat Thai or Drunken Noodles, just be mindful of the spice level (it can get pretty hot.) Lunch prices and portions are very reasonable. The decor is engaging and interesting, and there's always mellow music playing in the background.
This restaurant is a must try. The best Thia food I have ever had.The own is wonderful.
Absolutely amazing. Started off with the crab Rangoon which was flawless, followed by the spicy fried rice with chicken and the Thai sauce. Perfect amount of flavor, incredible portion size, and lightning fast service. Would highly recommend.
Great food and service. I got the coconut tofu and tomy pho with chicken and YUM! The flavor was great and I could taste so many different components to the dish. Can’t wait to go back!
This was my first time at Tony Thai and I am overly satisfied. The atmosphere was very relaxing. The service was excellent, my food came out fast and the staff were extremely friendly. This is the best authentic Thai food I have had in Johnson city!
Oh my God. The atmosphere was nice, the service was great, and the food was sensational. I started with the spicy Thai wings and they were the perfect balance of crunchy and juicy, with an enormous amount of flavor following the delightful texture. Some of the best chicken wings I've had! I thought it'd be hard to follow up such an amazing appetizer. Enter Massaman Curry. This is already one of my favorite Thai dishes so I had high expectations, and was completely blown away by their PERFECT version. The meat and vegetables were tender but not overcooked, the sauce was explosively flavored and seasoned to perfection. I could go on all day about what a joy it is to enjoy good Thai food, and this place went above and beyond. Thank you Tomy Thai! For the dull or sophisticated palate, I can't recommend this place highly enough.
Good is very good, food was cooked well and the restaurant is very clean. My server was amazing. Gracie Norman was very kind and helpful. She knew the menu and offered good choices. She seemed to like several things on the menu which lead to our choices. I enjoyed the atmosphere and will Def go back and ask to be seated in Gracie's section. I am sure the other girls and wait staff are good as well but this Gracie made us feel as we were pros at eating Thai good. This was our first visit there. Great over all experience.
Some of the best Thai I’ve ever had. We got the ‘hot’ panang chicken curry and it was the perfect amount of spice! Absolutely delicious. Stop reading this review and go get some food! Haha
Excellent food and friendly service. We will definitely come back! Honestly, I think it will be our regular choice for Asian food.
Love love love this place! I'm addicted to their curry noodles. This is the only Asian place in town that will make their dishes really HOT if you want. Thai hot. I can't handle it but my husband loves it. The ingredients are always fresh. You might wait a little longer to pick up your food (I've never dined in) because it's so popular, but it's worth it.
Have never had anything I don’t like! Some vegan options. The coconut tofu was to die for but I think it was a special item. I highly recommend the phanaeng curry. I can not get enough of it. Clean and friendly environment with a bar as well.
DELICIOUS! I’m not one to venture out much with trying new food, but this place is the best “new” food I’ve ever had the pleasure to eat! They have something for everyone, from no spice to “Thia Hot” (I stick with mild, my husband says the hotter the better). The staff is so sweet and make sure you feel welcome. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for some delicious Thai food!
We have tried at least 5 other Asian/Thai places in the Tri cities, and Tomy's far surpassed them all! This will be our new go to for Asian. The service was quick and friendly and the portions generous. The Pad Thai and fried ice cream were our favorite and we are looking forward to trying the curry, crab rangoons, Tom ka soup and the spicy beef salad next time around!
I got the Drunken noodles and my husband got the special Curry Noodles and both were amazing. Service was quick and super friendly. Big thumbs up from us. The only thing I wish they had was a kids menu. We brought a Happy Meal with us for our 3 year old, bcse we saw online they wouldn't have anything for her, and they had no problems with that.
I’ve been going to Tomy Thai since it first opened on Stone Drive in Kingsport (it used to be in what’s now McAllister’s Deli). The food here has always been absolutely amazing!!! Great drink selection! And one thing I especially appreciate: If you ask for your food Thai hot, it actually comes out really spicy! So many places tone it down for us Americans, but Tomy Thai will actually believe me when I say extra spicy! Absolutely one of my favorite places to eat in JC.
Love their red curry, pad tai and fresh vegetable spring rolls. Large portion sizes that can be shared. They have some spicy sauces that can be brought to the table as well. We have had some dishes that were misses, but overall it’s usually good. Never too crowded inside either.
Very delicious Thai food! The staff are awesome, especially Stephanie. Prices are fantastic. They give a discount to First Responders and Military.
I was really impressed with this little Thai gem close to the ETSU campus. The service was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm. You can tell the servers care about their customers. The food was well presented, and portions were generous. I'm giving the atmosphere a four due to limited seating, but that's to be expected with a smaller place. I'll definitely be back!
Everything my family had for lunch was good. Enjoyed the food and experience.
This place is awesome! The food was delicious (I ordered a pad thai and a thai iced tea, both were excellent), the portion are very generous, and the owner was so friendly! She even encouraged us to take thai iced tea to go since they come with a refill that we hadn't used. A lovely local establishment and I'd be coming here frequently if I lived in the area.
Great food here. I travel from Greeneville to eat here. I have brought friends and family here because the food is delicious. My goal is to try everything on the menu. The servers are friendly and competent too.
Definitely the best Thai restaurant I've ever been to. Highly recommend. Friendly people excellent food and drinks. Large portions.
The service at Tomy Thai deserves special mention. The staff was not only knowledgeable about the menu but also attentive to every detail, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable dining experience. They were more than willing to accommodate dietary preferences and provide recommendations, adding a personal touch to the overall service. Tomy Thai is a culinary haven for those seeking an authentic Thai dining experience. From the moment you step through the door to the last satisfying bite, every aspect of the restaurant is a testament to their commitment to excellence. Whether you're a Thai cuisine aficionado or a newcomer to its flavorful wonders, Tomy Thai is sure to leave you with a palate-pleasing experience that lingers in your memory long after you leave.
This a a good place to meet up with friends to catch up. The food comes in generous portions and the spice levels were relatively accurate. I always get a level below what I think I want because spice can always be added 😁. Everything we ordered tasted good even as leftovers the next day. I’ll definitely be stopping in again.
I only ever get to go food here so can't speak to the dine in experience. the food is always wonderful, we love the spicy fried rice and the drunken noodles. We have leftovers for days
Oh my goodness yeeesssss!!!! I just got the red coconut curry take away for lunch today, and I am SO happy! So flavorful, delicious, and just what my soul needed. Well done and I will be back! 💖🧘🏽♀️🪷
Best Thai food in JC! Staff is always friendly and the food is always good. Haven’t had anything here that I didn’t like. A Johnson City staple!
Happy to find a Thai restaurant near the VA hospital. Prices were reasonable food was good. Although $8 for a Thai tea was a bit of a shock when the bill arrived.
Their curry is phenomenal! I order take out from here, and it's always warm and ready to go when I arrive for pick up.
So I moved to the area about a year and a half ago from Maine and I have struggled so hard to find food of really good quality. And I don't mean expensive , I'm not a fancy person. But just in general, the food quality up in North is so much better. I'm sorry but it is. I was in the area yesterday and was thinking I really had the urge for a Thai food but I cannot find good Thai food yet here.., but I checked out this place and oh my gosh literally it was fantastic! So fresh and plentiful and yummy, the spring rolls are so good. Just like the ones I used to have in Maine. And this is something really weird but I have never seen like Duck Sauce or sweet and sour sauce in a packet until I came here. Typically all the restaurants up there even the cheap restaurants will make their own duck sauce. This place had their own homemade duck sauce for dipping the spring rolls and it was so delicious. I definitely definitely will go here again. So if you want good Thai food this is the place to go
My husband and I are new to Johnson City, but we’ve ordered from Tomy Thai on DoorDash so often that we decided to finally dine in yesterday. The restaurant is intimately small but very cute. We were greeted very warmly by what I assume is one of the owners. Our server, Lane was by far one of the best servers we’ve had at any restaurant since moving to the area. Lane was friendly and informative. Not once did I feel like Lane was annoyed with the amount of questions my husband had…and my husband can be a talker lol The food was even better dining in than receiving it from a delivery service. My only regret is I forgot my leftovers when we left. We will be back and we will request Lane every time!
Tomy Thai Restaurant is hands-down my favorite Thai spot in Johnson City. The food is consistently delicious, and the service is outstanding. My go-to dish is their Panang Curry. It’s rich, flavorful, and always hits the spot. I also recently tried their newly added fish tacos, and they are absolutely excellent. Their appetizers are fantastic as well, and you can’t go wrong with their Thai iced tea. It’s perfectly sweet and refreshing. The staff here are friendly and genuinely helpful, making every visit a pleasure. Lane was our server during my last visit, and he made the experience even better with his warm and attentive service. I can’t recommend Tomy Thai enough. It’s a must-visit for anyone craving authentic, delicious Thai cuisine in Johnson City.
One of my favorite places to eat when I'm in town. Lots of wonderful options. My favorite two items I usually get every single time. Red curry with chicken. I enjoy mine Thai hot. It's amazing, tasty, and will make you sweat 😅. The volcano chicken. I'm not sure what sauce they use on it but it's delicious and definitely a go to option! The Thai iced coffee is also very delicious. The staff are always wonderful and very consistent. I usually see the same staff members every visit and never have an issue. The prices are very reasonable, the portions are large. I never finish my food. The atmosphere is also nice. The restaurant is very clean and decorated well. I can honestly say I've never had a bad experience here with over 5 years of experiences.
One word: WOW! I'm mad at myself for not having been here sooner! The food was delicious, and the portions are HUGE! The bowl you see wasn't a regular bowl, it was the size of a dinner plate. Ended up taking half of it home, as half had me very full. Wait staff was incredibly friendly, knowledgable, and had excellent recommendations from their menu, and were extremely accommodating. Easy parking out front or in back. Will be coming back again!
First time visiting and all I can say is that my overall impression is simply that this place is absolutely remarkable! The restaurant is decorated beautifully, was very clean, and presented a cozy atmosphere. Restrooms were clean and well-maintained. Service is top-notch. Had questions regarding the menu And the waitress was so very happy to answer every question and make recommendations upon different things that I like in a meal. The food was absolutely delicious! Would not change a single thing about my meal, it was exactly as I was hoping for and did not let me down whatsoever. The waitress was absolutely the type of person I would want wherever I went out for dinner. She was attentive, engaged in casual conversation, checked in with us about our meal and was not overbearing whatsoever. Absolutely courteous and provided amazing customer service! If you've never been here before or you haven't been here lately, you've got to come back! This place is definitely on my top five restaurants and I will be returning. Can't wait to try something new and different.
This is my first time eating at this restaurant.. I ordered the curry fried rice. Service was fast and courteous. I was asked what level of spiciness I wanted... I asked for medium and that's just what I got. I do notice that the price of this dish has gone up by 40% in the last 4 months.. Ouch! Oh well... The serving size was huge... It easily equaled two meals.
Our other Thai place was closed so we chose this one to satisfy our craving! No disappointment here!! We got our order to go, the person that took our order was pleasant and quick. When we got our food from the very convenient drive thru I was so amazed at the portions!! Generous portions and wonderful flavor! The Thai bags were a little heavy on curry, for my taste. I also got the egg rolls, which were wonderful. What really stood out to me was the presentation of TO GO appetizers. They went the extra step to make it look nice even though was a to go order! How cool! The picture that I've added is of the Thai Bags appetizer that I ordered.
Portions are out of this world. Not only is the food delicious, but you get a HEAP of it on your plate. I also liked that in addition to selecting a spice level with your server, they send out a spice rack if you want to add more heat as you eat. Very clean, nicely decorated restaurant with friendly and informative staff. Note in my photos that after eating all we could of our dishes, my husband and I still had enough left over of each to fill an entire takeout box! Loved the Thai tea too- of which you get one refill (something I haven’t typically seen at Thai restaurants). Highly recommend!
Some of the best Thai I've ever had! All of the servers were very attentive, walking around checking for drink refills whether it was for their own table or not. Our waitress was really knowledgeable and helpful in distinguishing between the curry types. Ultimately we ordered Phaenang Curry and Curry Noodles and both were perfection. We don't live anywhere close to nearby, but we will definitely be looking for a reason to come back.
Food is good but inconsistent. Spice level seems to be up to employees personal opinion instead of normal culinary practices/standards. Entree portions are large. Surface of fried foods should not border burnt to cook the interior meat. That simplyq means the oil is too hot for the meat to cook for the required amount of time.
We have eaten here for years and have always enjoyed both the food and service. I do relate to the complaints here regarding some of the wait staff. I took a visiting professor here for dinner and the waitress was just rude and inattentive. It was embarrassing and I kept apologizing to my dinner guest as I had always had good experiences. I called the following day to discuss with the owner and, although she did apologize, she was aware of the attitude of this particular waitress. Her solution was for us to ask for a different waitress if we were seated at her table in the future! I wasn't wanting the person fired, but was surprised at the way it was handled.
Great authentic Thai food...I personally love the coconut soup. I swear it can make you feel better, well, if you like that sort of thing. You can make your food a little or a fire rating heat of true Thai heat that you want. It depends on who you get, but some waitresses here are of what you may call stuck up. Some are just rude and takes forever and a day to get a refill. Other than that...tastes great.
Excellent food, reasonably friendly. Dislike their charging 10-12% gratuity for pickup/takeout orders. One thing when dining in house, however it should be customer option for takeout
The food here was truly very good and seemed to be as "Authentic" as it comes. My one gripe was the borderline cheap look of the interior. Petty gripe I know, but an observation nonetheless. The Thai Tea was my favorite and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys Chai Tea. I would rate this place a 8.5 out of 10 and we will visit it again. Good food, portions and price. Waitstaff left much to be desired as they seem to be college "kids" with little concern as to true service.
Really great Thai food. We order out most of the time and they even have a drive-thru pickup window. Lots of Gluten Free options. If you like spicy, don't be afraid to turn up the heat, their hottest option isn't way too spicy if you're used to the hot stuff. Prices are a little higher than typical takeout, but you get what you pay for.
This place is located right downtown free parking easily accessible they have a large menu I wasn't very hungry so I just have the chicken Satay and and a Thai milk tea. The tea was very strong like so strong it was a little bit bitter and the chicken Satay was just unseasonsed chicken breast on a skewer with a not very good peanut dipping sauce. I was disappointed. My dining companion had pho and He thought it was delicious. The portion size was enough for me him and another person handed up taking home a quart.
Great service team. Good food.
Great place for GF Thai! The best basil rolls I’ve ever had. The noodle dishes several of us split were a bit sweeter than expected, but still delicious. Highly recommend.
Took forever to be seated (and we were the only ones waiting). Food is good, but not very spicy. They REALLY need to up their game in the tea department; an Asian restaurant that serves Kroger band green tea??
Food was good and you get a very large serving but it's very pricey! In my opinion, my husband and I ordered a vegetable medaly with rice entree each and a spring roll with water to drink and our bill was way over $50. That's too pricey to me. Food was good but not $50 good.
This review was previously a very positive 5 star review but do to recent experiences I have rescinded that review. Before I get into the negative, their red and yellow curry is still fantastic most of the time, but that's about all I'd order here, and with tofu as they can't seem to cook chicken. Do not under any circumstances order fish or chicken at this establishment. They cant cook chicken and it's always a rubbery mess. The fish is frozen and very poor quality, stay away! If you are in the mood for Phad Thai, go to V's.
The food is GREAT!!! However, the female members of the wait staff do not seem to comprehend the need of a good attitude. We recently dined there & our waitress got the order wrong. When we asked that it be corrected she asked with attitude " Do you need it remade ?" Of course we did. Cop an attitude ,do without a tip. Left $1 to communicate our opinion of her service. She simply displayed the same "joy" to be at work all the other girls there display. We ask for the male staff when available. We are leaving to give this another shot. Hope a male waiter is available!
I have been a regular here for a couple years and have brought all of my family and friends here, but the service tonight was surprisingly bad. I brought my boyfriend here for his first time and we were super disappointed. It was almost empty on a Saturday at 7:30 and our server (brunette with a ponytail) sat us at an awkward and uncomfortable table in the middle of the restaurant. There were maybe two other customers in the whole restaurant but our server never checked on us and we could hear her talking/laughing loudly in the back with coworkers and using a lot of inappropriate language. She never asked if we needed dessert or refills and just brought our check. Not friendly at all. Super disappointing experience
I have traveled a lot and spent time in Thailand and tasted real authentic Thai food, so I would not call this a true Thai experience. The chef is Mexican and the food is not authentic Thai that I used to get in East Asia. The flavors have been adjusted to American liking (a lot of sugar). I had fried fish which was far from fresh and Phat See-Ew which used to be my favorite Thai dish before trying it here. They even got the name wrong. It is not Phat See-Ew but Pad See Ew (Pad means stir fry, See Ew means Soy sauce). No wonder why it didn't taste how it was supposed to.
I have been a regular customer for 10 years, and in the last year the quality has been all over the place. Sometimes I get the wrong dish, sometimes it has no flavor. When its good, it is really good. Unfortunately, you really never know what you going to get.
When I entered the restaurant, I noticed a sign that cash only was accepted. I asked, and the lady said credit cards are now accepted. However, what she didn't mention was that there was a surcharge that is added to the bill...3.6%. SURPRISE! I found that out at the END of the meal when the bill was presented. They said there was a note on the door, that you had to scan, that told of this difference in price. That was a disappointing end to the meal. The food was very good. If you go. Be warned now to take cash or a credit card charge will be made.
I came in about 8pm and ordered a very pricey dinner Phat Thai to go. He asked if I wanted it spicy, and I said yes. We discussed why dinner was so much higher price-wise than lunch, and I was informed that the protein servings were doubled. (I had chicken) When I got home the portion was huge, and it was spicy enough to do a colon cleanse. The downside was that it was pretty much just noodles, peanut pieces, and spice. The chicken was something I'd expect to find in a frozen Ramen package, and if that was a double portion of the lunch menu, then lunch must just be chicken broth. I had exactly three bean sprouts, and it tasted like something you'd expect to be served at a college dorm by someone who never stepped closer to the spice rack than the microwave. It was dry and not worth $16. The young college student that served me was nice enough, but him and all the other college students there acted like they were at a frat house, and not a restaurant. I wanted Thai food, not over-priced, spicy Ramen noodles. It's worth the drive to go to Thai Riverside in Kingsport just to get authentic dishes and professional service!
Ordered two items - pork eggrolls and the Phanaeng Curry with squid. The pork eggrolls were very crispy but the house sweet and sour sauce was not edible. That sauce was so sweet to the point were it left an aftertaste. There was not a balance of sour at all. (I prepared another sauce once I got home.) The curry was a disappoint. Little squid, overcooked veggies (they were mushy - even the bamboo!!), extremely sweet, and I was unsure why I pulled shrimp shells out of my curry. I ended up tossing the curry because it was simply not good (and certainly not Thai hot). For both items I paid about $25. I had eaten at Tomy Thai for lunch a few years ago and enjoyed the meal. I am sorry this experience was not representative of that first impression.
Not the best experience today. Was going to order the sushi special until he told me it was frozen sushi. Ummm that would be a no! Makes me wonder if most the items are frozen. Got the orange chicken (could be frozen…could not be frozen)…it was way way to sweet. There was so much sauce on it that it made the chicken soggy! Probably my last visit for a while!
Very disappointing versus our previous visits. Perhaps a change in the kitchen, but the food was flavorless.
I usually don’t leave negative reviews but after 4 of 4 take out orders being wrong it seems to be a pattern. They don’t seem to be able to follow simple instructions when an order is submitted online. Best to eat in person.
I moved to the JC area Jan 2021. I’m a lover of Thai food, specifically red curry, and have given all of my business since moving here to Tomy Thai (close to biweekly takeaway). They were the first place I tried when moving here and the food was good— so I didn’t see a reason to look elsewhere. Unfortunately that has changed. All throughout 2021, the serving sizes and taste were consistent. I was a very happy patron. However, something has changed. Since the turn of the new year this has happened to me twice. The containers I’m given are barely half full. I didn’t say anything the first time because I figured it was a fluke, but now that it’s happened again— I cannot not say something. Especially since I know these containers passed through multiple hands and everyone involved thought what was given to me was a sufficient amount for what was paid. The photos below of the two containers are the most recent ones I picked up from their establishment. Barely half full. I gave them a second chance, but this is now unacceptable. I will be seeking out another Thai restaurant moving forward.
Nice location and well maintained place. However cannot say something about the food. Had Tommy Thai friend rice, asked for Thai hot, but wasn't close to mild. The food was without any flavor. Tired their vegetable roll, was greasy/oily and no Flavor. The place is good, hope they improve with true Thai flavors.
Tried this place twice, and the food was bad twice. Everything else is average or ok. This last time ordering out the drunken noodles were so bad and tasteless even after adding spices at home I couldn't make myself eat it. On top of all of that their prices are way higher than any other place around here that can give you similar food for better quality and a less wait time. I would recommend anywhere else if your feeling like eating Thai or Asian.
Tomy Thai was my favorite restaurant until now. However, we had a terrible customer service experience today. About half-way through a meal of Drunken noodles, my friend hesitantly complained that some of the vegetables were stale and the food was not tasting good. We notified the staff and the food was returned; we did not seek replacement. Instead of not billing the item, the manager gave us 40% reduced price! We questioned the appropriateness of the gesture with the owner/manager, in vain for more than 15 minutes. Could not help but feel if the courtesy would have been any different if we were all not Asians at the table.
3 days ago I got the Drunken Noodles and the beef must have been undercooked or the food was mishandled, as I am still recovering from from horrible food poisoning. I haven't been able to eat since then, I have never vomited so violently in my life. Please never order here, they also way overcharged us for what we ordered. As it seems has happened in other poor reviews.
I almost never leave a review, but this was an exceptionally disappointing thai food experience. This was our first time ordering from this restaurant and it will be the last. We ordered drunken noodles, red curry, and larb take-out all "thai spicy" at around 12:30pm...aka lunch time. For whatever reason, they charged us for dinner prices and these 3 items came out to around $44. Drunken noodles is my favorite dish and what I recieved was unrecognizable. It was a noodle entree, but the taste was completely different than any drunken noodles I've ever had, and it was mildly spicy at best. The red curry tasted like Indian curry (which is good, when you want Indian food), the vegetables were barely cooked, and it was also mildly spicy. I will say, the chicken larb was actually very tasty and flavorful. I highly recommend ordering from Zaap Lai for thai food in Johnson City. Tomy thai may be a good fit for some, but if you are looking for authentic thai flavor I suggest steering clear of Tomy Thai.
I don't usually leave reviews because most places do not warrant it one way or another. But if I can use this to save at least one person's money, then it is worth the time. Tomy Thai is an absolute joke of a restaurant and I will explain why. I went here on a Tuesday afternoon. I've had a great day - I thought - why not reward myself with some good Thai food? What a mistake that was. First, I order my food hot, not mild. I get there, the food is mild. "Oh this is fine, I'll just ask them to remake it." Boy was I wrong, not only did the manager continuously refer to me as "my man" - I wasn't his man, but he laughed in my face and asked why I couldn't just put some hot sauce on it? I don't know buddy, why can't you just make the order right in the first place? Okay, after being laughed at, I finally convince them to remake it. The food seems okay, different lid at least. Nope, same food just put a different lid over it. Fine I thought, I'll just eat it, no need to make a bigger fuss. Guess what? 1/4th of my way through my meal there is a hair in my food. I call the manager, and even though he continuously laughs and insinuates that I am "his man" - he refuses a replacement or refund. Long story short, save your money and take it elsewhere. Places that can actually make a decent meal correctly for less money. 0/10 wouldn't recommend.
Our first experience was great. Fresh hot food nicely flavored. However the second visit turnef me off totally and i will not be returning. Terrible food. As if it was warmed in a microwave after being left over from days prior. Made us both sick, literally... Never again... Sahib's is my go to place for now on for a spicy ethnic tasty food and exceptional service.
We had veggie egg rolls that were lukewarm at best. Drunken noodles bore no resemblance to any that I have ever had or seen. Tried them but left a full plate of food behind. I did complain to my waitress but paid the full bill, really should not have. Waitress was very nice. Would not recommend to anyone.
I've eaten here so many times amd have had nothing but excellent service. I went for lunch today, and had the worst experience I've ever had here. I sat there for 45 minutes waiting for food, it never arrived. I ordered 4 appetizers of chicken satay, there were only 3 parties in the whole restraunt.. my coke was watered down as well... won't be back.
Food was ok, pho wasn’t great for sure, pad Thai was passable, rangoons ok, and chicken satay was decent. Biggest reason for bad eating is the waitress. She very loudly ridiculed an older couple for not tipping to her satisfaction, very blatantly rude and entitled. The elderly woman stated that they just couldn’t afford it at the moment. The recommended tip starts at 20% and goes up to 30% as well. Ridiculous to expect 20% as the starting point for a tip. Will not be going back here again. Roots Thai is far superior for pho and other dishes.
Wow! I'm pretty bummed with the health department news on Tomy Thai it gave it a 73. Lots of violations. Hopefully they'll get their act together. We don't eat there a lot because it's expensive but we thought since you pay the price the place would be clean.
Updated review from a few days later: The restaurant fraudulently changes your tip on your receipt. This is major business fraud. Good thing I took a picture of my receipt when I had written the tip very clearly. The restaurant decided to instead change the tip and put whatever they wanted. This is fraudulent and is being reported to the appropriate institution. Original: Good food, decent service, decent atmosphere. To start off, food is actually pretty good! Vegetable spring rolls are crispy and tasty, however the duck sauce that it is served with is a little weird. It is not sweet like any other restaurant. They also have a decent hot and sour soup, however, the real star is their tom kaa soup (coconut soup). That soup is really flavorful and is great with steamed tofu. I also should suggest asking for the spice rack so that you can add a little spice to the soup. Make sure to get the spicy basil fried rice. This is really flavorful, and we got it hot (on their spice scale). This was a real stand out. We also got the pad Thai noodle dish which was pretty good. I do think the restaurant could’ve done a little bit more to make the dish flavorful, as the noodles were definitely on the lighter side for taste, and they were also clumped into one big mound. Lastly, we got the yellow curry with steamed tofu. This was pretty nice and mildly spiced. Big chunks of potato, pineapple, and bamboo shoots are the default vegetables in the curry. The restaurant is able to make many dishes either gluten-free or vegan. If you have either of these dietary restrictions, definitely check with the staff as they are able to accommodate. Now, service was OK. We were only checked on one time during our meal, and we had to keep getting the attention of the staff to provide us with extra utensils or bowls/plates. Our waters were left empty for a decent amount of time, and it seemed like staff were indifferent. This wouldn’t be the worst, however, the restaurant default forces a 20% tip on groups of six or more. As we fell under that, I expected better service. Please also be aware that the restaurant forces a 3% surcharge for credit cards. This is a little disappointing as most credit card assures charge restaurants less than 3% for a transaction fee, so this restaurant is just passing on more fees to the customer, even more than what some credit card companies add. So just be prepared if you come as a party of six to pay an extra 23% on top of your bill (20% mandatory gratuity and 3% credit card fee).
This has long been one of our favorite Thai restaurants, so this visit was a real let-down. We don’t usually leave negative reviews, but this time was worth mentioning. A dish that clearly advertises various vegetables came out as mostly noodles with barely any vegetables at all, and another dish was lacking in flavor. For the price, the value just wasn’t there. We’re not looking for any sort or compensation. We are just hoping to give others a heads-up, because we would’ve wanted the same.
