While walking around the crossroads district my wife and I stumbled upon The Jacobson and the weekend brunch. Our waitress was friendly and welcoming. We were late for the brunch but did it anyway along with a bottomless glass of mamosa. The selection as good and food was very tasty even though much of it was not hot as it was a very hot day today I didn't mind. I enjoyed the spiced shrimp and waffles the most. The atmosphere is fun and trendy. The crowd was small but fairly loud however this did not impeded my own conversation. I have heard good things about this restaurant and I an happy to confirm the rumors as true!

What a fantastic dining experience! The service was unbelievable (Eric was our server). We had early reservations and was pleasantly surprised to learn we arrived during happy hour. I had the Hemingway - if you enjoy bourbon, then it's the perfect drink. Dinner was delicious -the kind of dinner you want to make for your own friends. What a great atmosphere to enjoy time with your favorite people. We can't wait to return!

Flavor is spot on. Our waitress was also awesome and made the dining experience even more enjoyable. The sea bass and goat stuffed meatballs are a must.

Amazing housemade food. The housemade pistachio gelato is to die for. Everything is carefully crafted and very flavorful without being too salty, spicy, vinegary, etc. Price definitely reflects that.

Me and my boyfriend went here on our date night. Very fun array of drinks and food options. We came during their “mingle hour” and were pleasantly surprised but the different options they offered! We ended up getting a flask to share (So cool! Who offers flasks!) and a bunch of apps. Lauren was an attentive, friendly, and lively! Excited to come back soon!

We visited during restaurant week and had Matthew as our server. He made some great suggestions and everything was great. Parking is currently challenging due to construction, but don't let that deter you; there's a parking garage 2 blocks south. We'll definitely be back. The Nashville chicken is great.

We came during resturant week (coworker and I) The servers were so nice. The atmosphere is so nice, could be fitting for a work lunch or a romantic evening for date night. I did order off the resturant week menu, getting the tomato caprese salad and the waldorf salad (get the waldorf with the lettuce wrap instead of bread) and for dessert I had tbe butterscotch pudding. The pudding was so good, i didn't want to stop eating it. I will 100% be bringing my boyfriend here for a date night. I think he will love the menu as well!

Went there for a bachelorette party dinner. The food was delicious and the staff was very hospitable. Amazing location in crossroads and has an excellent patio area. Ordered the Darlin' Clementine drink - DELCIOUS!

This is the best brunch in town. Jessica is rockstar and HILARIOUS! We will continue our Sunday morning brunch tradition here because of the exceptional service we always have here.

Great local restaurant with a fabulous bar selection and even better food. Must have the Jacobson Strip with the bone marrow butter.

We are out of towners and will definitely visit The Jacobson on our next visit. Everything we ordered was amazing, from the appetizers to desert. I would recommend the spread, and the baby cakes. We loved meeting our waitress Sara who didn't rush us, provided quick service, and was incredibly friendly and funny. Kitchen service was also very quick but not to quick.

Just visited the Jacobson on Wednesday and I was very pleased with the clean atmosphere and delicious food. My partner and I were greeted and seated as soon as we walked in. We ordered the crab dip (NOT imitation crab) as appetizer. For my main meal I had the Nashville hot fried chicken (juicy bone-in chicken) with mustard seasoned potatoes and house made pickles on the side. Overall a great place to dine in Kansas city! Will be visiting again.

A great restaurant in an excellent location. Large parking nearby makes arriving easy. Brunch menu is extensive and a great deal while the dinner menu offers some really unique and delicious options. The bar and the drinks available are also top notch, all while being reasonably priced. Overall an excellent dining choice!

The hostess was an absolute gem. It was super-busy, but she remained calm, gracious and helpful the entire time we were there. (Our table was near the reception desk, so I could see her while we dined.) I had worn snow boots because of the weather, and she kindly let me stash them under the table in the waiting area so I could change into my dress shoes. She was welcoming to us and all who arrived, no matter how many folks showed up.

All the servers are amazing, and always have fantastic menu recommendations. Very friendly and personable staff. The food is otherworldly, very unique and yet still comforting. The atmosphere is not overwhelming, very comfortable with lots of space. Probably my favorite restaurant.

Party of 7 for Easter Brunch. They had a special menu as well as reg menu available. We ordered sweet bread baskets to start off. Delicious and just right portions. We discussed how the Jacobsens tables had more room between them than most restaurants do, you didn't feel squished. Now to the food. I had chicken with eggs in a skillet. I ordered my eggs scrambled, the best I've ever had. My daughter has had the same meal with the eggs fried, said it was amazing . My husband the prime rib. Sizing was really nice, perfectly cooked. Delicious. 2 had fish n chips, which they both loved. Fish was cooked up nicely, fries hot and so good. Then there was the crab with hollandaise sauce plates.. Want to say plating on all sides was nice and appeasing. They ladies loved their choices and said the sauce had great flavor. We all thoroughly enjoyed the whole our brunch out, including the prices. Hats off to the executive chef for the delicious menu options.

The atmosphere was just what we were looking for... Patio, some shade, steak and able to carry on a conversation. Our waiter was personable and attentive. I had the hanger & hubby had the KC strip. Both were seasoned nicely and had the char I was hoping for. Potatoes were unexpected because of their great flavor. Not your boring side.

We had reservations for Easter Brunch. The place was packed and the staff seemed to handle everything very well. Our server was extremely friendly and prompt. The food was hot and very tasty! Some standouts were the perfectly seasoned peel and eat shrimp, waffles with caramelized sugar on the outside, and the chocolate fountain for dessert.

This brunch is on point. Bottomless mimosas and bellinis. The food is great. I like to go with a group and we all order something different to share. The biscuits and gravy are great and so are the fries. Mac n cheese was quite good too. Service is friendly and not too slow. Nice atmosphere and great space. Parking isn't usually a problem. Drinks are always great and they have private space(s).

For the last couple of years, my friend and I have been talking about trying The Jacobson, but we usually end up trying someplace else that had slightly better reviews. Almost as a chore, for my friend's birthday, he settled on The Jacobson and we are both very happy that he did. We had a great experience. We started off with the baked shrimp and king crab dip that we both really enjoyed. I had the Jacobson burger which I can only describe as the best burger you will want to eat when drunk. I wasn't, so you don't have to be, but do yourself a favor and get a beer to go with it. I also appreciated the gluten free options so I plan on taking my wife. I'm looking forward to going back and trying their fried chicken that they were sold out of (yes, that kind of restaurant that makes fresh food). The restaurant is tucked away so it almost has a speakeasy feel when you find it, which also means that the parking is not great. There is a parking garage nearby, but they don't validate.

My husband and I just came in this morning for the first time for brunch. We were completely wowed by the food and the service. Jessica was amazing! Kept the endless mimosas coming and made sure we were happy the whole time. If you’re in KC for the weekend PLEASE stop by this place for brunch!

What an amazing experience we had at this place! We celebrated our belated Valentine here on Wednesday following the holiday and were so glad that we decided to try this place out. First and foremost our server Jessica made the night for us! She was so helpful and knew the food and drink menu inside and out! Easily the best service we have had in quite some time! The restaurant was so fun and cool, the warm lighting and art really created a great ambiance. Finally the food was delicious and so well plated that we had to complement the chef through our waitress. We had the shrimp and crab dip to start, then the cedar plank salmon and shrimp galligiano, and Jessica talked us into some yummy nutella pancakes. Everything was so good! We loved it and can't wait to go back!

The food is always delicious! I haven't been here in about 3 years and was delighted to see they had updated their menu with vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options. This is a good place for a leisurely dining experience.

We made reservations for Valentine's day. We were seated immediately. Service was good food was delicious. Great atmosphere. My husband had the Amish fried Chicken and I had shrimp and pasta. Chicken was different but good different. I think it was skinless but however it is cooked it as a crispy coating and It was full of flavor. Shrimp and pasta was pretty good too! I definitely want to go back.

The grilled octopus here is delicious! I would definitely order this again when I go back. It is placed on top of a small tangerine salad. The pork confit rubbed espresso was okay it tasted like braised pork but not shredded. I ordered this and was hoping the pork on the outside would be more crispy but it's pretty much soft all around. The hot chicken was a nice big portion size with two chicken thighs and just tasted like fried chicken and not anything similar to Nashville hot chicken seasonings. It needed more spice and sweetness. The dessert in the cast iron I thought would be more cake like but it tasted eggy and it could have been due to getting berries instead of the banana. Next time I'll have to try it with bananas. Parking here can be difficult to find if you're going on a weekend. I liked the atmosphere of the restaurant which gives off a dim lit vibe and really enjoyed the cocktails they make. I'll definitely make a return to try more things on their menu.

Great drinks, amazing food. I've been here on date nights with my wife, family dinners, and I've taken clients here. I like the atmosphere a lot. It can be a little noisy but it's not bad at all. The staff have always been fantastic. They're knowledgable, attentive, and have great attitudes. I'm only giving 4 stars because the parking situation could be better.

My friends and I go here often for brunch. The bottomless deals are amazing. I was there yesterday for restaurant week since I’m leaving town and moving at the end of the month. It could have been an unknown allergy on my end, or really anything but I ended up getting food poisoning. As I said I’ve been a customer here many times over the past 1.5 years and I gave a call and the manager Emily was fantastic and issued a refund. I will still come back as mistakes happen and the Jacobson handled it all so well. Excellent service all around. Truly an exceptional business model.

Good food. Steak was next-to-excellent...was just a few degrees overcooked. I ordered medium rare and it was almost medium instead. Still, very flavorful. The Pork Confit was EXCELLENT! Great sides can be added a la carte. We ordered 3 sides to share across the table. Salads were good, but at an additional charge. Waiter was very knowledgeable and friendly and VERY accommodating. Cocktails were varied and fun . A VERY good experience!

Very personable bartender, Sarah. She provided us with brief history of establishment. We were interested where my name is relatively close. Drinks were very good. Brunch offerings were good however there were a couple of items which were subpar. Otherwise, we enjoyed our brunch there.

Rob Stitt

The service was very slow, even after the crowd thinned out. My chicken, while tasty, was over cooked and dry. I may go back, but it wasn't exciting. I was trying several new (to me) restaurants out during Restaurant Week, this falls below the mid line.

J
Jason Pizza

Hipsrer-y joint. Pho inspired soup had cinnamon, not something I'm excited about. Roasted brussel sprouts would have tasted good as they were tossed with almond slices and cranberries, but they came out drenched in oil and soggy, not crispy. Cuban was decent. Good beer selection.

M
Miguel Contreras

The service was great. It started out very friendly and joking and became stale as the night went on, maybe because we did not laugh very much at the jokes, not sure but good table service. The price is higher than normal but the food was lacking in the taste department. My burger I ordered medium well and seemed more well done. Overall it's OK, I'd go back again but not my first choice.

Took my wife here for our 22 anniversary. This was our first time here. Food was ok. We were not impressed with our waiter. He seemed to loose interest in us when we didn't order what he was suggesting. Might go back but likely just to enjoy the patio on a nice day.

This place is hit and miss, I've had a great dinner here before back on a Sunday in 2015 where everything was on point food and service. The waiter walked us through the menu and made great recommendations on wine cocktails and appetizers. I remember a really cool pepper salad that was incredibly unique. However since I've gone during brunch maybe is purposely supposed to have a different vibe to it. However for still being relatively expensive the quality of the food and service during brunch seems to sag some.

C
Colleen Koebbe

The service was mediocre at best. I could count the amount of tables around us on one hand and still had trouble flagging someone down. My steak was not cooked to order and when it returned from the kitchen at the supposed correct temperature just tasted like char. I would not recommend this restaurant. My cocktail was good though.

We went on a Sunday and were a bit disappointed to learn that it was a brunch-only afternoon. No problem though, we found awesome dishes anyway. I had the egg salad sandwich which was sublime and my wife had a burger which was pretty good. Three stars for three reasons: 1. Super-expensive drinks. $12 for my 3-ish ounce cocktail. I don't remember what it was called, and it was good, but it was not worth $12. 2. Our bill had another table's item on it and the waiter hadn't noticed. Understandable I guess, but it never happens anywhere else and it almost cost us an extra $20. 3. Parking, or more honestly, the complete lack thereof. How do you have a restaurant here with no parking? There's none on the streets, the lot out front is reserved for other restaurants (even the handicapped spaces have reserved signs!) and The Jacobson no longer has a relationship with the parking garage even though their name is on the window. The Jacobson cannot validate your parking. The lack of parking completely removes this place from our list of possibilities on all but the most picture-perfect days.

We were served by Matthew and he only stopped by our table a few times. Our food took over an hour. We sat in a back booth where there was bugs all over the walls and on the picture behind us.. flying around our dinner. We brought all of this to the manager Emily and she assured us 25% of our bill would be taken care of. Got our bill and only 10% of our bill had been taken care of. Even after talking to Emily, it took Matthew over 20 more minutes to come back to our table. Finally got it fixed. Food and drinks were delicious... service could have been way better.

This place is amazing... My sandwich was wonderful & the fries crispy, just how I asked... My complaint is that the first waitress I had was trash! I was seated at a dirty table (they were busy with a special event) & I mentioned it to her she walked away & didn't come back. After 20 mins if waiting without service the hostess asked if I needed anything. She took my drink order & wiped the table down. I waited another long period for my time. Finally got it, she apologized saying she put in the wrong order. Not sure that I would go back...

We’ve been going to the Jacobsen for years, but this past Friday will be our last. Over the years, we’ve always enjoyed the atmosphere, service, and consistently good food, but our last few visits have been disappointing and lacking. We noticed they are no longer as busy as they used to be, and when we were there a few months ago, we received some $10 off coupons as a way to get us to come back. Kind of strange. We visited on Friday with our coupons. We had a reservation, even though it was obvious it wasn’t necessary as there were only a few tables occupied, and were seated immediately. However, after sitting at our table for nearly 15min after the hostess seated us, and never meeting our server or getting any water, we decided to leave. On our way out we saw the hostess and two servers standing at the bar talking. We told them we were leaving since we were forgotten. The three of them really didn’t seem to care. I can understand receiving slow service on a busy night, but it wasn’t busy at all and it was obvious the staff was slacking and didn’t care about their customers. We went across the street to Blvd Tavern and were greeted with smiles, seated immediately, and had fantastic service as usual. Go to Blvd Tavern where they appreciate their customers and have better drinks and food.

Disappointed overall. We sat on the patio for brunch today. Cocktails were good, and always nice to be on the patio. However, food took forever to come out, we saw tables sat after us get food before us. I ordered the french dip, the meat was tough and hardly any there, the au jus was just brown water with no flavor. My dining companion had the crab benedict and not impressed either. Our server agreed with us and gave us some comps and coupons for next time, which was nice of her. Overall overpriced mediocre food and we won't be back.

My wife and I came out for restaraunt week and found our first time here to be very underwhelming. The food over all was very bland, my wife’s salmon came out raw in the middle, and service took forever. Great ambiance and wine selection though. If you want a nice place to relaxe and enjoy wine then this is okay. If you want good food to go with your wine eat somewhere else.

I am not one to do reviews but to say I’m disgusted by the service we have now received on two separate occasions at this facility is putting it mildly. During restaurant week a group of ladies from our church got together and tried this restaurant. The food was okay but definitely not “restaurant week” quality. The customer service on the other hand was lacking but we were all happy to be together and they were obviously busy so we let it go. At the end of our meal our server gave us a $10 card as they do not validate parking and also handed us a red envelope and explained that if we brought it back in February we would be able to possibly win a trip, money off our bill, etc. The only catch was that we couldn’t open the envelope until the next time we were there in front of our waitress/waiter. We had a conversation with our waiter telling him we’d have to schedule another girls night so we could all come back and see what we won. Tonight when we arrived we were told that we were only able to open one per table and could only use one of the parking validation cards per table. We explained to the waitress that our waiter never mentioned that to us nor is it written anywhere on the envelopes or the card and asked if she would please get the manager. As we politely explained to him what had happened he immediately got an attitude and said that was the rule and even picked up one of the envelopes to try to prove it to us but when I mentioned it is not written anywhere on it he said that they were theirs and they can CHANGE THE RULES anytime they want which to me proves that it was not an official rule which is why it was not mentioned to us at our first visit. At this point we decide to leave but offered our envelopes to a couple of tables that didn’t have them already as there was no reason to waste them. The manager then asked us to leave. No foul language was ever used, no one was drinking or even drinks, no voices were raised, absolutely no reason for the rudeness and complete lack of customer service we were shown.

I had a birthday brunch there. First time there for me and my party. Our waitress was amazing no complaints about her. My guess order chicken and waffles and order something else. All my guess that order chicken and waffles food was very hard and over cooked, my other came out and was totally wrong. The waitress was very sympathetic and understanding. She returned the food for. The cook came to the table and said nothing was wrong with the food and said we can leave. So spoke explained it was birthday and we wasn’t satisfied, not asking for anything free just simply want the food recooked. He consist we leave, the manager then comes over and tell us if we’re not gone in two minutes she will call the police. Words was exchanged. I couldn’t believe this happened all because we wasn’t happy with our food. This people are very unprofessional and don’t know how to handle situations. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to this business, NEVER!

A truly sad dining experience. Host staff was pleasant. Our server gave us water and did not return. After appx. 10-15 minutes the hostess took our drink and food order. The drinks and food were delivered (still no visit from our actual server). Food lacked flavor and presentation overall. The drinks were decent. We finally went to the bar to request our check for payment. Our server finally showed and dropped the check on our crowded with dirty plates and serving dishes table saying “thanks” and kept going. Myself and my dining companions have all previously worked in the service industry and were blown away by the lack of service and the mediocrity of the food. It was awful and we will never return.

C

Too dark, dark enough it was difficult for our table to read the menu without cellphone light. Very few items on the menu are actually entrees and I'm not falling for the pick three sides and make it a meal for $19. I had their 'Legendary' burger (best in the state), ordered it medium rare and it came out like any other dry slab of ground beef on a bun you could find. On the other hand, their truffle fries were very good. Overall: overpriced and lackluster. I'd gladly spend my 22 dollars on something other than their burger and fries.
