As soon as we went in, they gave us a superb greeting and accomodated our huge party in a private room. This was followed by a sensational meal with great ambiance.

Don't be put off by the location. This place is a gem. If you don't plan on taking home the left-overs (there will be plenty) you should share a main. Also, the list of specials is always huge, so stay flexible as you're deciding what to get. Just 15 min from the Newark Airport Marriott and WELL WORTH the ride.

Delicious food, great service from Tony the waiter, great environment! Can’t speak better about this restaurant! Refer everyone and give gift cards whenever I can!

Staff and food are phenomenal, they’re attentive, ensure that plates are removed when meals are completed, and refill beverages when they know we’re running low. They remember faces who frequent the restaurant, they’re so friendly and accommodating!! We always make reservations to avoid any wait times, if applicable. Forget the larger Italian restaurants and try this spot, you won’t regret it!

La Campagnola in Kenilworth, NJ, is the real deal – a classic Italian red-sauce restaurant that feels like it’s been plucked straight out of the best parts of North Jersey’s culinary history. We recently hosted my father’s retirement party there with over 80 guests, and the entire experience was absolutely perfect from start to finish. Brian, the owner, was an absolute pleasure to work with. From the first phone call to the last guest leaving, he was gracious, accommodating, and genuinely excited to help us celebrate this milestone. He walked us through every detail – room layout, timing, menu options – and made planning a large event completely stress-free. You can tell he truly cares about making every occasion special. The food was outstanding and easily fed our big crowd with zero complaints (a miracle when you have 80+ Italians at one table). The appetizer spread was generous and delicious: perfectly fried calamari that was tender inside with a light, crisp coating; eggplant rollatini that melted in your mouth; and stuffed mushrooms bursting with flavor. Their homemade tomato sauce was the star – bright, fresh, and honestly one of the best I’ve ever had. It tied every dish together beautifully. For the main courses the kitchen delivered: chicken parmigiana with golden breading and gooey mozzarella, Chicken Francese in a bright lemon-wine sauce, baked salmon that even the traditionalists loved, and classic sausage and peppers that vanished in minutes. A huge part of what made the night so warm and personal was Anthony Spirito, the host, who’s been my dad’s childhood friend since they grew up together in the old neighborhood. Having Anthony there greeting guests, sharing stories, and making sure everyone felt at home turned a great party into a true celebration of my father’s career and life. The look on my dad’s face when he saw so many old friends gathered to wish him well in retirement was priceless. If you need a venue that serves honest, delicious Italian food and treats you like family, La Campagnola is it. Brian, Anthony, and the entire staff went above and beyond. We couldn’t have imagined a better send-off into retirement for my dad. Five stars all the way. We’ll definitely be back. And if you like the sauce, make sure to take home a jar from Anthony!

Had dinner here Sunday evening, which was probably my 8th time dining here. I had the Garlic shrimp, Eggplant Rolatini, meatballs, house salad, a 3 meat 3 cheese Rigatoni entree and chocolate gelato. Everything was awesome!

Make a reservation and try this place out. The diversity of the plates are great. The food is well prepared and worth the trip. I would like to see completed plates with side dishes included since the prices are High. Separate side dishes just adds to the per person bill, and then you have beverages. My main course was great but too small. I ordered a side of mashed potatoes, but Still left a little hungry. Again, I do recommend you try this Restaurant out. Personally, I would return again. The food is excellent. I would make reservations though.

A good place, hidden away on S 31st street to try in Kenilworth. I tried the stuffed mushrooms 🍄 with crabmeat only because it was served in a marinara sauce, which I never saw before. And the veal Valdostana(sp?) special ,on the bone with a mushroom brandy sauce. Overall I would say above average and priced comparable to others.

Went for a company dinner. About 20 of us so we had a pre set menu and all we got to choose was our protein. I picked the New York strip which was super thin. Not what I would expect for a fancy restaurant and the price we paid for the meal. Food was kind of bland. There was an old grumpy dude taking everyone’s orders and when I spoke to the other old dude at the bar he wasn’t super friendly. The food and drink runners were really nice. I have heard good things about this place from other people but for a large group I would not recommend.
