First things first, the food was phenomenal. I had the stone crab and chicken curry. The service from Christy was top-tier, from her recommendations to making sure we had everything we needed, to making us laugh and ensuring we enjoyed this experience. I'll definitely be coming back to try the rest of the menu and will ask for Christy next time around. Thank you, Sol by the Sea, for making this Valentine's Day a memorable one. Also, take a look at this view; come on, you can't beat that!

I feel so lucky to have found this restaurant by the sea. Sitting by the railing, you can see the endless ocean stretching out in front of you, with gentle waves lapping against the shore. The sound of the sea breeze and sunlight together make you instantly relax and forget about everything else. The food here is absolutely delicious. And our server Cynthia was so amazingly! She was so genuinely friendly and attentive, always greeting us with a smile. She explained the menu patiently and made the whole dining experience smooth and pleasant. Whether you’re here for a romantic date, a family meal, or just some quiet time alone, this place is perfect. With the endless sea before you and a table full of delicious food, it’s impossible not to feel content and peaceful.

Probably the best grouper and Mahi I've ever had. Spicy curry was legit and the cocktails we're flavorful and strong. Beautiful sunset views

A Stunning Sunset, A Perfect Proposal, and Unforgettable Flavors at Sol by the Sea My boyfriend asked me if I wanted to celebrate his 30th birthday at Sol by the Sea, a waterfront restaurant in Key Largo. When I looked it up on Google, I immediately thought it would be the perfect spot to welcome his 30s. The views were absolutely stunning, with all seating outdoors, definitely an ideal setting for a date night or any special occasion to set the perfect mood. We were joined by my brother and sister-in-law. For drinks, my brother ordered the Sunset Bliss, a delightful tropical cocktail made with sunset pineapple vodka, pineapple juice, lime juice, and grenadine. It was sweet, tangy, and refreshing, just like a Key Largo sunset in a glass. My boyfriend chose a bottle of Chandon Brut for the table, a crisp and elegant sparkling wine that added a festive sparkle to our celebration. For dinner, my brother enjoyed the churrasco skirt steak, served with chimichurri and yucca fries. The steak was perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor while the yucca fries were crispy and satisfying. My boyfriend and sister both chose the blackened grouper, paired with creamy coconut rice, zesty mango salsa, crispy fried plantain strips, and a hint of red curry, a wonderful combination of spicy, sweet, and savory flavors. I opted for the crispy whole Thai snapper with fresh herbs, garlic chips, toasted coconut rice, peanuts, and jim jaw sauce on the side. The dish was a delicious blend of bold flavors and contrasting textures, making every bite a treat. After dinner, my boyfriend suggested taking pictures by the beach. Little did I know that this moment would turn into the most magical one of the night. He got down on one knee and proposed with the sweetest message. After I said yes, our amazing server Lazar surprised us with complimentary champagne and our dessert was on the house. We had ordered the classic Key Lime Pie because you simply can’t visit the Keys without trying it. The pie was creamy, tart, and the perfect way to end the meal. Watching the sunset while sipping champagne with the person I love most made this night unforgettable. Everything was absolutely perfect. Lazar was spectacular, warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable about the menu, making our experience even better. I can’t wait to come back to Sol by the Sea for more special moments and incredible food. If you want amazing food, breathtaking views, and a warm, inviting atmosphere, Sol by the Sea is a must-visit!

A true feast for the eyes and the palate. What a joy it is to dine by the water while watching a breathtaking sunset. The dishes were absolutely delicious. I ordered the roasted chicken with a few custom touches, including a creamy mashed potato. The chicken was incredibly flavorful and perfectly cooked. A must-try experience, don’t wait!

The scenery is breathtaking and the 7:50 pm sunset view was perfect. Chef Rob and staff were very attentive and provided amazing service. Chef Rob recommended the House Steak special and it did not disappoint. One of the best steaks I’ve tasted in a while. Then to top it off with their key lime pie, delicious. You can’t go to the Florida Keys and not try the famous Keys Key Lime pie. The kids loved the chicken strips if you bring kids. Will return

Outstanding food, views and service. We were lucky enough to get there early and sit at the bar since we had no reservation. This was a nice bonus with the sunset right behind us and elevated views. The grouper was fresh, perfectly cooked and paired with amazing flavors. Our dinner the next night at Pierre’s (an OG favorite) was less impressive, due to how well the food was prepared at Sol.

The views, the service, the food, it was all amazing, Omill, I hope that's the correct spelling, our waiter, he was amazing.

Spent five days in Key Largo and Key West and this was our favorite restaurant of all. The service is great and the chef is outstanding. A bit pricey for the keys but the food and service, completely offset and are worth the price. A good value! Had the blackened grouper, the burger, and the skirt steak. Also had the peel and eat shrimp. The complementary chips and dips are fresh and delicious. Had the Hemingway old-fashioned, and now I really really really love rum drinks. We were also celebrating a birthday, and they were overly generous to the birthday girl!

A must do while in Key Largo, especially right as the sun is setting. Perfect views while dining. Great menu with local fare, nice variety of light/healthy options and heartier. Fantastically delicious food. Perfect service levels, you can tell these people enjoy their jobs and help each other with ease. We returned twice and will absolutely come back at every Key Largo visit

I had such a great experience at Sol by the Sea! The vibe was super relaxed and the view was amazing. I ordered the fish tacos and they were absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Our server, Kaydien, was incredibly kind and attentive, which made everything even better. Plus, the chef Robert even came over to talk to us, which made the experience feel really personal and special. Definitely a place I’d come back to!

Wow! Just the view alone makes this place worth visiting! I was boring and got a salad but the salad was yummy and my cocktail was nice. Definitely getting something more hardy next time. Staff were very friendly. Just keep in mind that a 20% gratuity is already added to the check but I didn’t mind. I definitely added more tip as I believe it was deserved. I’m certainly going back.

The view, food and service was great. The positioning of the tables made it easy to talk without having other tables talking over you. The view was beautiful looking across the sea. The food was perfect and delicious. Loved the smoked mahi dip appetizer and the coconut grouper cerviche and blackened grouper was delicious and perfect.

Wonderful evening! Caught the sunset. Service was prompt and pleasant. Lounged had a Patron margarita, with the glazed mahi. And the Lobster Mac!

4.75 stars. Sol By the Sea is a nice restaurant in Playa Largo Resort in Key Largo. It is very open and airy with excellent views of the Florida Bay. Great place for an anniversary or birthday. Nice and clean with friendly staff. The food was very good. We ordered the Blackened Grouper and Lobster Mac and Cheese. The fish was cooked perfectly and had a really nice coconut curry sauce. The mac and cheese was different than I've ever had. Not only was there plenty of lobster, but it also had a sauce underneath with cherry tomatoes and spinach. Not a lot, but just enough. My mind was blown on both dishes. Nice, small menu, so you don't have to take hours to decide what you want. I took off a .25 star because the bathrooms needed attention. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would definitely recommend it. If you are not a guest of the resort, you can show your reservation to the person at the gate.

Stopped here randomly on the way to Marathon. Was so pleased and surprised. The view is amazing. The atmosphere is awesome. We ordered the fish tacos and the grouper sandwich. I have to say this was the best meal we had in all of key west. It was fresh, delicious and not too bad price wise considering it’s connected to a resort. Our waitress was friendly and recommended some fun things to do on our trip since this was our first stop. I definitely am going to book a stay here next time I visit. It seems like a hidden gem!

This restaurant is part of the Playa Largo resort. The view is breathtaking and it’s an outdoors restaurant. They don’t accept walk ins and it was difficult to get reservations over the phone (although you can online). We met the sous chef and our server was very pleasant. We had the pan the bono which comes with butter and guava sauce- these were delicious! I had the grouper entree and my boyfriend had the minuta sandwich. The grouper had great taste but it could be a bit dry if no sauce on it. But overall delicious plate. The minuta sandwich are for those who don’t mind a fishier taste but the fries that came with it were outstanding. For dessert we went with the rum cake that was served with a fallow of chocolate ice cream. It was good but not heavy on rum taste at all. Would come here again just for the vibes!

Wonderful and amazing experience. Anet was "OUTSTANDING" waitress. Wonderful customer service, professional (knew the menu), nice, kind and consistent on checking on our table. We had two people in our group from Paraguay and never been to the United States, Key Largo or SOL. Anet was able to make them feel comfortable, in greeting them and group, explaining the menu in Spanish to them while speaking English is the rest of the group. Anet recommended food that was excellent tasting and enjoyable. Thank you Anet you were Outstanding. Overall experience: Anet service, the SOL view of the water, the quality of the taste if the food and dessert was overwhelming to our guests and wonderful and amazing time spent there. Planning to return again. In addition the staff was willing to take a group photo of us.

Sol by the Sea was an amazing restaurant with a splendid scenery. We came with my grandparents and they had a great time walking down the pier and enjoying the mouth-watering cuisine! The drinks are tasty , the scenery is amazing, and the food is perfection. What’s not to love?!?

We stayed at the hotel for my husband’s birthday trip and had dinner and brunch at Sol by the Sea. The food And the service was 5 ⭐️. Lazar and Ismael were our servers and we couldn’t ask for a better service. Chef Ricardo food was outstanding. One of the best food we have had in Florida. The manager, Jeremy was super friendly and made sure we were taken care of. I recommend 100% this restaurant and we are coming back for sure.

I had the best time at Sol by the sea today! The general manager Jeremy is awesome and the our server O’Neal made our experience great!!!! He was very attentive and friendly!!! Great personality. The staff were very welcoming. I would definitely return. Chef Jacqueline did a great job with the food as well!!!

We just stopped by for a few drinks at the bar. Very nice bar and our bartender was very friendly. My favorite was the passion fruit mule. Great views of the ocean. They even had live music the night we stopped by which was lovely. Very pleasant and relaxing vibe.

Great food, service, and views! The conch fritters were so good-very light and not greasy. The complimentary chips/dips was a nice touch, too, with great flavors. Loved that we could make reservations and we were able to get in same day as booking.

This place has the feeling of a hidden gem although there were quite a few people dining. Upon entering the open area was very inviting and airy with a very seaside vibe. We were greeted with a smile from a very welcoming staff and seated quickly. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The menu is simple and easy to understand with a great selection of items to order. I ordered the fish special which at the time was Mahi Mahi, my wife ordered the lobster roll, while we ordered our baby a burger and some fruit. Everything came out delicious and fresh and the proportions were appropriate. Once again, the staff was very helpful and gave their recommendations. Their drinks were also quite good and complimented our lunch well. If you are passing through or visiting Key Largo, I would definitely recommend checking out Sol by the Sea for great service and equally great food.

The restaurant is very nicely located. Enough parking lots in front and a view of the sea throughout the whole meal. We were there with 4 adults and 2 small children and were more than well served. The price-performance ratio is super! A special thanks to Omeil who served us phenomenally. Give this man a raise!

offers breathtaking oceanfront views and impeccable service, creating a truly magical dining atmosphere, especially during sunset. The staff is friendly and attentive, enhancing the overall experience. However, the food falls short of expectations. The menu mostly features American fast food staples like chicken, wings, burgers, and fish dips, lacking innovation and variety. Despite this, sol by the sea remains a recommended spot for its ambiance and service, ideal for a memorable evening but less so for culinary enthusiasts seeking diverse options.

Sol by the Sea was a beautiful restaurant located right by the water giving you an incredible view to enjoy while also enjoying some wonderful food. They have an amazing atmosphere and all of the workers were lovely. This place is a must go if you are visiting! You will not be disappointed

Food and service was amazing. Staff overall was professional and very courteous. But the star of the show was the bartender/server, Cynthia. She is very kind, attentive, and personable. You can tell the experience and dedication she has. Sol By The Sea is extremely fortunate to have such an amazing person on the staff.

Lionel and Kaydiane were truly wonderful hosts from start to finish. They welcomed us with genuine warmth and made us feel completely at peace. Their positive energy, constant smiles, and authentic Caribbean vibe really set the tone for our stay. They were attentive, easy to communicate with, and always made sure everything was enjoyable. Food was great too. A truly memorable experience thanks to their hospitality.

Our Server, Martina, was truly lovely - so attentive, kind, sweet, professional and helpful. Beautiful ocean view, music playing and the food was excellent including the virgin pina colada - only the bread could be a tad better but 5 star food overall and certainly flawless service 😊

Went for a quick drink and appetizer. Drinks were craft and made well. The grouper ceviche was pretty tasty but lacking texture (a shrimp medley and more veg would be nice) the plantains were cooked fresh. The view is nice and we even saw some dolphins . The dining area is open air. This is located at the back of the resort by the water.

I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant. The food was delicious, especially the chicken coconut curry. Everything was flavorful except for the rice, which was a bit overcooked. We also ordered the hummus, which was very good. Since I’m lactose intolerant, they were very accommodating and brought the manager over to help us see what would be dairy free.

Reservations are required and checked by the gate guard so make sure to make a reservation on the open table app. We went for lunch. I had the fish tacos and fries. My husband had the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. They have a kids menu and my kids had a burger and Mac n cheese. The view from this restaurant was amazing. The restaurant is open air and the views are truly stunning. The food was average. My fish tacos were good but contained very little fish. Maybe four chunks of fish total. The salsa in the taco was very tasty. The tacos came with heavily seasoned waffle fries which were average. I had a few bites of my husband's chicken sandwich which was average in taste and a good portion size. Kids loved the Mac n cheese and burger. No complaints there. Server was helpful assisting me with picking a dish that didn't have eggs or nuts due to my son's food allergies. I would definitely return for another meal due to the lovely service and amazing views.

B

The views are great. The food mediocre. My partner’s stone crab was not fresh and he sent it back. There was a wedding right in front of the restaurant with loud music and toasts etc so beware of that. I guess this venue is popular with weddings. It is a gorgeous place. The automatic 20% tip is a problem. I almost double tipped.

J
Jania Consuegra

The spot is absolutely stunning next to the beach. However, the service it’s not great. We had to wait a lot to get the food and it was a bit disappointing for the price. A 26$ ceviche was the worst I’ve ever tried in Miami. The burger and sandwich were really good. Honestly, the spot it’s great but the place is way overpriced for the food and service they’re offering.

5/6/25. Had an amazing view with good service. Drinks and apps were amazing . Server Rachel was great ! Main dishes were so terrible I didn’t even take a picture. Mahi was bone dry and the lobster Mac needed some seasoning and more cheese . Recommend stopping by for a drink and snack , but don’t waste your money on the entrees .

C
Cathy Leslie

We got an appetizer of the conch fritters and the snapper with coconut rice, two orders of the half chicken, and the lobster Mac n cheese. The conch fritters were ok. The coconut rice tasted like regular rice, not even a hint of coconut. The half chicken was more like 1/4 chicken. The rolls tasted off, like they were missing the yeast or something…more of a pita texture. The Mac n cheese needed more cheese. It did have nice big chunks of lobster rather than small pieces. The pina colada wasn’t blended but tasted good. The waiter got my husbands order wrong so he had to wait for his chicken about 20 min longer than the rest of us. He also got it wrong when we asked for two checked and pointed to who it should be for on each check. I honestly wouldn’t recommend this place, it’s overpriced and overhyped. Surprised by the great reviews. The only thing we loved was the view of the ocean.

K

I was excited to try this restaurant. Upon entering, it had a beautiful view of the ocean. The hostess was very friendly and accommodating. I was brought bread and water right away but then 35 minutes passed and no one came to take my order for drinks or food. Eventually I saw a manager and asked to place my order. The food was good but I was very disappointed in the lack of service and the restaurant was not busy. I've never had to get up to ask someone to place an order before but I felt I was not going to be asked unless I said something first. Would not return

K

This restaurant has a wonderful view and the seating area gives great tropical vibes. The food was good but not great. I had the lobster and shrimp mac and cheese. It tasted ok, but the cheese is not a sauce, just a liquid. Very runny and didn't stick to the pasta. Wife had the blacked yellow tail which was cooked nicely. It's annoying that you can't get a lobster tail here unless you add it as a $30 side to a $20+ meal. The service was not so great. The waiter was not very attentive even though they were not many people there at the time. He didn't check with us after the food came out and we had to grab our own silverware off another table. They are also hoping people just give up if they don't get good service since the 20% tip is automatically added even for a party of 2. I'm guessing we would have had to wait for a manager to try and get it adjusted. But with how slow the waiter was, we didn't want to deal with it. It may have just been an off night, but we're not likely to go back. Too many better places to eat.

C
Cali Joy

The food is okay at best and so overpriced. My Caesar salad was wilted and rotten. I got the fish with mango salsa and there was barely a tablespoon of salsa. They do put an automatic 20% tip so be sure to not double tip. The view is pretty, the quality of the food means more to me than a view.

L

I visited this restaurant because of the many positive reviews on Google, but the actual experience was completely the opposite. The bill was over 100 USD for a fish dish that was full of bones and extremely salty it was impossible to eat, and I ended up picking out the meat to feed a stray cat nearby. I also ordered some chicken wings to take away, but when I opened the box, they were burnt black with a strong smell of old oil my child couldn’t eat them at all. I’m not sure whether it was due to poor cooking or oil that hadn’t been changed for a long time, but the quality was unacceptable. I strongly advise people to think carefully before ordering similar dishes to avoid wasting money. Additionally, the staff barely provided any service. They only brought out the food, yet the restaurant still added a 20% service charge to the bill without informing customers. A very disappointing experience.

R
Rokas

Poke tuna bowl was terrible with frozen tuna and no taste. They change it to tacos, they were at least edible, but forgot salsa on the side. To sit and drink it is nice, food - no.

We visited Sol by the Sea today and unfortunately left very disappointed. The view and atmosphere are beautiful, but that’s where the positives end. Despite the restaurant being only about 20% full, the wait time was unusually long. The kids’ burgers were decent, but my lobster roll arrived with completely raw lobster. The server initially tried to convince us that this was how it was supposed to be, which felt very unprofessional. Once it was clear we would not accept that explanation, the dish was taken away. About five minutes later it was brought back by a different server — in terrible condition: half the amount of filling compared to the first version, looking as if it had already been eaten, and the bread reheated in some kind of oil. We obviously did not eat it and simply asked for the check. The staff appeared completely unmotivated to provide proper service, likely because gratuity was already included. The only genuinely kind person was the lady refilling water. Prices are clearly overpriced for the quality of food and service. With such an amazing location and potential, it takes real effort to operate at this level. We left disappointed and would not return.

K
Kelly Huang

We went to this restaurant for lunch, but the experience was absolutely unacceptable. When we arrived around 2:00 PM on Christmas Eve, the doorman at the entrance told us that we needed a reservation to get in. That alone was already disappointing, but what happened next was shocking. He forced us to write a positive Google review on the spot, saying that otherwise he would not let us enter the restaurant. This behavior was completely unprofessional, unethical, and extremely uncomfortable. Being pressured to leave a fake review just to get access is unacceptable, especially on Christmas Eve, when people expect kindness and basic respect. This left us feeling angry and disrespected.

M
Mike Walenta

Stopped on our way out of the keys. We were not staying on the resort. Went based on reviews. Beautiful location on the beach. Service was good. Drinks and smoked fish appetizer were good. We both ordered fish and chips, the worst fish and chips we have ever had! The batter was too thick, greasy and over cooked. Could barely find any fish! Would NOT recommend!!
