Palate

The service and food were top notch! The front of office staff (don't remember her name) was a delight - professional, warm and friendly. Then there was my server Garvin- he was exceptional. He knows his job and he takes great pride in it. I have been saying that a good dining experience in Jamaica is nonexistant- that was until I went to Palate, they have changed my mind. They offer value for your money and I just cannot get over the great service. No long waiting and poor attitude from staff. Plus the ambiance was wonderful. Thank you manager and staff at the Palate for restoring my faith in dining in Jamaica.

Good place for a prestigious meal. You'd better check out ANCIENT GRAINS salad, my favorite, which is the best thing about this place, besides professional attendants. You may have delays in bringing your order from time to time, but always with high quality.

Excellent restaurant for any occasion. The chef is very willing to customize the menu for guests. They have a Sunday bunch special with special offering. All the produce on the menu is from the garden on the property.

The dining was good, however the length of wait depends on what is ordered.

The ambiance was superb and overall service was pleasant but the food was bland and the wait a bit excessive. We ordered Jerked Mushroom Stroganoff and oxtail fettuccine, snapper papillote and harbour view shrimp. Would suggest serving complementary garlic bread or some other easy bites during peak time. Dined on Dec. 29, 2023.

The decor was muted, though sophisticated. Very good ambiance. Garvin our waiter was the best. He was attentive, cordial, candid, knowledgeable of the menu, he asked all the right questions, and went over and beyond. Sadly the food disappointed. Some of the items were over salted. The good parts weren't the most fanciful, but were well portion and tasty. The cocktails were artfully curated and were a highlight of the evening. The meal was generally overpriced but satisfying.

I was expecting a bit more on the menu. I ordered the oxtail fettuccine but when the meal came the fettuccine was hot but the two whole singular oxtails that I got on top were cold? Weirdly, I also found 2 tiny really slim bones as if they were fish bones in the fettuccine which I was confused as I was having oxtail and not fish….. Our server was absolutely amazing though and he made us laugh but I was expecting a bit more? And in regards to parking?? $300 a hour?😂 nevertheless the best part about them is the red peas soup. It was a tad bit salty but I liked it..

Benefit of the doubt because it was a Monday, but eat elsewhere.

Palate at ROK Hotel is a prime example of form over function. While the restaurant aims for "fine dining," it consistently misses the mark, delivering mediocre food with an over-the-top presentation that fails to impress. Dinner was underwhelming. I ordered the oxtail fettuccine ragu, sounds delicious right? I expected a oxtail ragu sauce that was meaty and rich, integrated with the pasta. Instead, it was fettuccine tossed in the oxtail gravy with a single, large oxtail piece perched on top. So you mixed some noodles in the sauce in the pan? You should be making an oxtail meat sauce. It felt like an afterthought and was disappointing. Breakfast was abundant but uninspired. On one occasion, they didn’t even have eggs! There’s also a surprising lack of Jamaican breakfast options, which is baffling given the location or name (Rebirth of Kingston). You’d expect ackee and saltfish or other local dishes, but instead, you get generic offerings that barely satisfy. Palate needs to tone down its ambition and focus on creating better, more fusion / authentic dishes. Sometimes simplicity and attention to detail go much further than trying to impress with fine dining pretensions. Save your money and eat elsewhere. Also the food at the bar was equally mediocre.
