My wife and I were driving back from my grandparents place in Milam county to the Dallas area a few Sunday’s back. We had a general plan of just powering through and getting home when I paused mid conversation and said “you know…” she lit up and said “Kosse Cafe!?” Read my mind. We stopped in for the chicken fried steak. Typically we go on a Friday night and get the catfish platter (personal favorite). My Dad loves the burgers best. And my wife is all about that CFS. It’s all damn good food, atmosphere and the staff is always sharp, attentive, kind and funny as hell. As a city boy that dips in 3 or 4 times a year, I appreciate that. We literally make decisions on when and what day we leave to see if a stop into the Kosse Cafe is possible.
We love this place, food is great and waitresses are super, they are very entertaining and makes you enjoy going there. Our favorite restaurant
Small town feel for sure, just passing through and I gotta say the people who work here treat you and everyone else like their neighbors. Which being a small town in sure most are haha.. I got the sweet tea, fried mushrooms and of course the chicken fried steak which was recommended by my sweet waitress Sydney! I rate this place a 5/5, I’m sure I’ll be back, I caught Patrick who has worked here a little over two years on his break and he was also super friendly. Thank you all for the great lunch and the great company. 🫶🏻
Stopped in for a quick bite to eat while traveling. This was one of the best hamburgers I've had. Ate the salad bar and it was good too. the thousands island dressing tasted homemade. The sweet tea is good too. The fried apple pie was a reminder of the old days along with the atmosphere. Definitely country living. My fav!
Great hometown diner, with daily specials excellent food and amazing service. Very relaxing place. I was just passing through the town, but I will definitely return.
You might pass Kosse Cafe because of the way it looks but I advise you not to make that mistake. This is definitely a good example of never judge a book by its cover. Im so glad I stopped because I just had the best steak fingers I have ever had! The flavor was amazing. So if you're ever at the corner of Hwy 7 and Hwy 14 make sure you stop. You wont regret it!
Just stopping thru on our way to Victoria. Service was good and so was the food. If I'm ever going through town again I would stop by again.
Traveling from Lubbock to Huntsville. Just passing by when we seen this cafe. Not very appealing from the outside but don’t let it discourage you. Food is very country cooking, delicious and our waitress was so nice. My son ordered the spaghetti and she let us know it would be a wait but it came out so fresh and he said was really good. Salad bar was so fresh(8pm) which we loved. Very comfortable place. Next time we are around. We will stop by again.
This place is a small town cafe. Not much on ambiance but it is clean and has great diner style foods. My eggs were actually cooked correctly.....yay. and keep in mind it is not fast food so don't expect your order in 3 to 5 min. Especially if it's not just one person order. But it is hot , fresh and tasty 😋
Just a good place in small town. Waitresses are always nice even when they run their tail off. Food is good and they always offer refills on drinks. Chairs are a bit tattered and at times a few flies don't eat much. They will always greet you with a smile. Worth the stop. Say hi and meet someone new.
My friend and i were riding through the area and decided to stop in Kosse Cafe for a late lunch. I'm typically not a fan of diners so i didn't expect to much. Boy was i surprised! We both ordered breakfast, eggs, bacon and pancakes and were pleasantly surprised. I can honestly say that was the very best diner breakfast i have ever had. Food was delicious, reasonably priced, service was excellent and the place clean and cozy. I also heard the fried catfish was very good. I live an hour away from here and will definitively be back to eat there again. Thank you for a most awesome dining experience.
Country fried steak is excellent. 10 out of 10 However it is ironically sold separately from any other breakfast entre it would be nice if they just sold it as a meal. This is a great local hole in the wall definitely worth stopping for when traveling through this area.
Small town cafe with home style cooking. Delicious food. Had the cfs and it was outstanding. Plate lunch on Sunday is a great value.
Quaint little place right off the highway. Food was good just like you'd expect. Randi was pleasant and took care of our needs. I wouldn't give it 5 stars as there was nothing special about it but it didn't disappoint.
We came on a Fri night at 6:30. Plenty of tables open. We had grilled ham and cheese sandwiches on sour dough with fries and the Big breakfast bargain. All were tasty and plenty hot. Service was good and it was very inexpensive.
I travel alot for work and this was my first time in Kosse so i decided to take a lunch break. It felt old and a little run down but i have no issue with that because it had that small town feel. I ordered a double cheeseburger with bacon and a side of fries. The order came out after about 8 minutes and the burger looked very good but the fries were lackluster. Burger was exactly as I ordered and you could tell it was homemade, not as much seasoning as i like but was still a very solid burger. The bun was soft and a little soggy though, would rather have it be a grilled bun, you get those nice char marks and it holds up just a bit better. The fries however you could tell were frozen. Don't think they were fried, tasted baked like you may do at home purchasing in a frozen bag from the store. Would have been better if they were fresh and fried. My waitress was attentive and kind as was the gentleman at the front so no complaints there. Prices seemed reasonable to me because the portions were huge. Overall was a solid entree and restaurant. Would probably go there again If I am ever in town.
Well where do I start !!!!! Got a club (No Tomatoes) got tomatoes bread was soggy, bread wasn't toasted. NOT A GOOD MEAL at all.. Also quesadilla about 6 pieces of chicken on a large order, a lot of onions & even more bell peppers ( NOT CHICKEN). Wasn't worth the $$$$$ at all Will not be returning.
