At The Mara, we're dedicated to serving up delicious cuisine with a side of warmth and hospitality. Located in the heart of Lake Buena Vista, our restaurant offers a unique dining experience that's perfect for families, couples, and groups alike. We take pride in our extensive menu, which features a wide variety of dishes and postres to satisfy any craving. Our friendly staff is always happy to help, and our beautifully designed atmosphere creates a tranquil ambiance that's ideal for special occasions or everyday gatherings.
The Mara offers quick service and a variety of fast food, desserts, and drinks in a pleasant atmosphere. It's considered a more affordable option within the hotel. However, there's a report of slow and poor service.
Tip: It's a good option for a quick stop during the day to enjoy the parks.
Loved the pizza and falafel hummus platter here. They put a white sauce on the tomato pizza which is unique and i have never seen that earlier. its awesome. They do fry veg and meat in same fryer, so if you care about that you should avoid the falafel platter.
This place is clean but not necessarily a vibe. The frozen POG is amazing and you can get it with alcohol too. The must get for me are Zebra Domes. So freaking good!!
The Mara is a great breakfast option when your staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge! They have Mickey Waffles, Oatmeal, Pastries and more. They also have gathered famous Zebra Domes! It also has a great atmosphere to go along with the animal theme. It’s located next to the pool which is convenient to go swimming right after breakfast
This is probably my favorite quicker place to eat at Animal Kingdom Lodge. The breakfast is very good and the quinoa is my favorite. We came for lunch today and we’re impressed by the large selection they had to offer between flatbreads bowls, sandwiches, and other fair. They have a large selection of drinks and fresh pastries available as well.
There is only one place to eat lunch at the animal kingdom lodge which is the mara quick serving. They served African theme food among with other quick serving like burger and etc. the serving is quite generous and comparable to its price. The combination bowl is full of protein such as shrimp beef and etc instead of filler. And you can ask for regular water just ask for empty cup at the register
The Animal Kingdom Lodge consistently ranks among the top five resorts for dining, and after enjoying this establishment for two decades, I am not at all surprised by its reputation. Tonight’s experience was no exception. In 2020, the Disney Food Blog rated this hotel as number one based on its culinary offerings. By 2024, Sanaa had earned the distinction of being the third-best resort restaurant, and in 2025, the Animal Kingdom Lodge was ranked second in the article “A Definitive Ranking of EVERY Disney World Hotel Based on Their Restaurants.” We ordered a combination of adult and children's meals, featuring a selection that ranged from classic choices to more adventurous options, ensuring that everyone in our group found something to suit their tastes without compromise. It is worth noting that dietary needs are easily accommodated at this location. Additionally, be sure to check the cooler, as they often have various options available there. While we utilized the Disney Dining Plan to pay for our meal, cash payments are also accepted if that better suits your family's preferences. Food The dishes were prepared fresh after our order was placed. The pepperoni flatbread was delightful, generously topped. The Chermoula-spiced Shrimp Bowl served as a fitting conclusion to the day, offering a more adventurous option with grilled shrimp, pilaf rice, kale slaw, cucumber-tomato salad, and chermoula sour cream. The children's meal was fresh, featuring healthy options, albeit a standard offering across the property. Service The staff is consistently helpful in addressing any questions regarding your order or the dining plan options. Atmosphere Although classified as a quick-service location, it stands out as one of the better options in my opinion. Guests can enjoy a diverse array of food selections, as well as both indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant offers a variety of sauces and condiments that are not always readily available at other locations.
This place was awesome. We are here every day. There are a wide variety of breakfast choices and beverages. The cast was so friendly and patient. The restaurant is clean. The food is served fresh and hot. The amount of food for the price point was great. The savannah platter was enough to share . The Mickey waffles were delicious. They have quick grabs like yogurt and bagels and pastries. They also have fruit and refrigerate eats like cake, salad, etc.
Came here for breakfast with my wife 😊 I got the Kilimanjaro bowl and she got the ancient grain power bowl. Both were delicious, it just depends on what you're in the mood for. The prices are quite reasonable too!
The Mara is a very convenient, almost pool-side quick service restaurant. We've been happy with what we have gotten, including the gluten-free Zebra Domes. Try to eat at odd hours as it does fill up and get noisy.
Awesome quick service restaurant. All the meals I had were well prepared with quality ingredients. The food is prepared in a timely fashion too. The staff is very friendly. My nephew loved the chicken nuggets and said they were the best he ever had. I must admit, they were really good and have my approval too. Good bakery. Overall a great place to grab a quick meal.
This place was like sitting down at a four star restaurant. Food was outstanding. Set up like a cafe to eat in but also set up to take back to your room. Very impressed and would recommend anyone eat there. If you are on a dining plan it is only one quick service credit and you can grab a bottle of soda with that. Don’t forget the zebra domes (desert) that melts in your mouth.
Astonishingly good food for quick service. Everything we tried was great, particularly the bread pudding (breakfast), the chickpea sandwich (lunch/dinner), and the butternut squash soup (lunch/dinner), which tastes a bit like melted pumpkin pie ice cream. If you get the chickpea sandwich, add lettuce, tomato, and onion to it from the condiments bar.
Love this place, the food is super tasty especially the falafel platter and the pumpkin cheesecake at the moment. Definitely mobile order to have it ready when you get there x
Even though this restaurant is not fancy, and waiting for your order is a little chaotic, the food is much higher quality than I expected and, of course for Disney, the service is great. We ate several meals here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The vegetarian bowl was outstanding.
Very friendly and helpful staff. They were quick to accommodate me after I ordered and paid for my food only to discover it had something in it I was allergic to, going so far as to provide me with other food choices. Hats off to the crew that helped prevent a serious problem. Definitely recommend stopping by even if you're not staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Easy to locate and no charge for self-parking.
Good selection for lunch. Love using mobile ordering because it gives you alerts when your food is resdy instead of having to wait in line. We had the selections of the different Flatbreads and the zebra cakes - very good!
Food was good and price was in the normal range for a place to eat inside the resort. Reason for 5 stars was because of one of their staff named Justin. Incredible person who would even sing to us as he was bussing tables! Give this man a raise and his own Disney channel show!!!
It's a great quick food option. They have a kitchen, drink and coffee bar with pastries, and refrigerators with cold drinks and prepared foods. They also have sundry items you may need in your room. I had the bbq sandwich. It was very good and even the fries that came with it were good and hot. Bring lots of napkins.
Quick service place in the Animal kingdom lodge. Highly recommend the burgers, pita bread items and chicken items. Flatbreads are okay. If you have a meal plan, your drinks, entree and dessert are included but they don't advertise it and you might not get everything unless you stay on top of it. It's a good place to eat food and is not formal. Good for kids and families.
🥙 The Mara is the perfect quick-service spot for guests staying at Jambo House—or anyone visiting Animal Kingdom Lodge and craving a fast, flavorful meal without sacrificing quality. Tucked just off the pool area, The Mara is casual, convenient, and surprisingly delicious. Whether you’re grabbing breakfast before a park day or refueling after a late night at Boma or the parks, this spot delivers. ☀️ Breakfast favorites include the African-inspired breakfast platter, croissant sandwiches, and a no-frills Mickey waffle plate for the kids (or adults who believe in magic). Coffee is available, but mobile order is your friend here to skip the morning rush. 🍕 Lunch and dinner offer flatbreads, burgers, salads, and standout items like the chicken rice bowl, African stew, and the ever-popular grains and greens bowl. Portions are generous, and there’s always a vegetarian or plant-based option ready to go. 🍫 Dessert? One word: Zebra Domes. Yes, you can get them here individually packaged—no buffet needed! You’ll also find seasonal treats and classic Disney sweets. 🧃 Drinks include fountain beverages, coffee, tea, and some grab-and-go wine and beer options if you’re winding down for the evening. 🪑 Plenty of indoor seating plus a few shaded outdoor tables near the pool. Great for a mid-day break or a snack while the kids swim. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Mara nails the balance of convenience, variety, and quality. A true hidden gem in the world of Disney quick service.
Ate here every morning for breakfast. Also, ate quick service meal here upon arrival. Food was good. Enough of a portion with most choices. This was a concern because my family members are big eaters. Staff was very helpful and attentive to family needs. They know people are spending a lot of money to be there so they are very accommodating!
Our entrees were fresh, hot, and tasty. We enjoyed two meals during our stay and highly recommend the Fire Roasted Tomato Flatbread and the South African Vegetable Bowl. The staff is really terrific. Don’t forget to select some fresh pastries to enjoy later in the room.
No matter what you get it’s all fresh, hot & everyone with a mouth & stomach leaves happy. Eat in or hotel room. Great selection for all & very mindful STAFF of any allergens & sensitivity
We stayed here for a weeklong family vacation which happened to be during hurricane milton. The staff was so friendly throughout the whole experience even though they were working double time to accommodate all the extra guests during the hurricane. We tried everything on the menu throughout the week and the majority of the food was delicious and priced well. We really appreciated all of the employees who made us feel at home during our trip.
For lunch and dinner a very good option for interesting and slightly healthier quick service. Breakfast was pretty much dull American stuff. The bowls and flatbread were very good for the price.
It has a great ambiance, tasty fast food, and everyone is friendly. What more could you ask for from a quick service restaurant? The manager Veronica was extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome!
Service was great! The team working did an awesome job managing the flow of people. Everyone is naturally hungry and tired from a long day in the sun but the team met them with care, excitement, and efficiency. Shoutout to the lady running the Bowl station last night (4/14). She was funny and engaged with the customers, even as some of her ingredients were delayed (the beef). Prices were fair as far as Disney is concerned, the food was delicious, and there were plenty of healthy options at the pick up stations and fridges. Well done to the team working and we’ll definitely be back again during our stay! They also have kids meals at each station (flatbreads, burgers, nuggets, fries, etc)
Fast service. Cafeteria style. I recommend pre-ordering on the Disney App and selecting your arrival time. When you get to the elevators on the first floor say, “I am here” to the app so they start preparing your food. We had a very minimal wait when we did that. Ordered the Mickey waffles and shared tater tots, bacon and scrambled eggs from the main entree we ordered. Perfect amount of food for two. Then we went back for dinner the next night, had a fancy 50th anniversary dessert with flatbread pizza and pulled pork sandwich. Everything was really good and we had leftovers!
Very impressed with the service and friendly staff in the Mara. Tucked out of the way near the pool I arrived a few mins before closing after a long day and night in the parks and was not expecting any hot food to still be available but the staff went out of their way to accommodate everyone in line who wanted a late pizza! The food was fresh and really tasty, went back for breakfast in the morning and it was just as good with a good quality choice of food, quick and friendly service. Sat at a table outside near the pool which was a very relaxing way to have breakfast and enjoy the unique atmosphere of this amazing hotel. I'll definitely be back!
I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. I accidentally spilled my food, and before I could even react, the staff was already there-calm, kind, and incredibly accommodating. They cleaned everything up quickly and without making me feel awkward, and then surprised me by bringing out a fresh, hot replacement dish to my table at no charge. ... A special shout-out to Taylor and her crew. Their kindness, professionalism, and genuine care for customers truly stood out. They handled the situation with such grace that it turned an embarrassing moment into a reminder of what exceptional service and kindness looks like. Highly recommend this place—not just for the good food, but for the amazing team that makes every visit feel welcoming!
The staff here were absolutely amazing! Diego gave me and my family a very warm welcome, and helped guide us through the process/ explain how everything worked. We greatly appreciated the extra support since we were literally starving from traveling! The workers really know how to keep the Disney name and magic alive!✨
Great variety of delicious food. We ordered the BBQ Jerk Chicken Strips & the Combination bowl. Both were amazing and came out quickly They also have a mobile order area where you can order on the app & pick it up without waiting in line. There is limited seating indoors, but plenary of seating outside and by the pool.
Seating was ample when we arrived... about 20 minutes before the switch over to lunch menu. Ancient grain bowl, butternut squash soup (asked if it was ready, they said yes! Win). Also the zebra cakes. Mmm.
Food could be better. A bit pricy for the portion they give you. Beautiful place to visit though. Great Family Friendly location to stay.
The Mara is the quick service location in Animal Kingdom Lodge. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. In my opinion, AKL has some of the best dining options of any Disney resort, including Boma and Jiko. While the Mara isn’t quite as good those two, it still has a decent selection. For dinner we tried the chicken bowl and the chicken and shrimp combo bowl. Overall we thought these were decent option for a quick meal. They also have the Zebra Domes here, which we tried when we bad Boma, so if you want Zebra Domes but don’t want to go to Boma, stop by the Mara.
As the quick service food option at Animal Kingdom Lodge, The Mara is a convenient place to eat. Only minutes from our room. You can order meals or grab packaged or premade items off shelves and check out quickly. There’s also a coffee bar. Plenty of room to sit comfortably and eat. The dining room is spotless. You can't go wrong.
The focus at this resort is the higher priced options but The Mara is a solid quick service option. Good amount of seating indoors or you can enjoy your food outside and watch the activity at the pool. Loses a star because the staff was very unfriendly during our visit. Not typical of Disney. Don't know if we visited on an off day or what.
It is super easy to grab a quick bite from here, and you can order in advance. Much cheaper than other places to eat in the resort and is more worth the money. My husband and I both got a flatbread (he got cheese as there weren't a ton of vegetarian options, while I got the chicken.) The chicken flatbread also had onions and bacon. It was good though the bacon made it a bit too salty. The flavors were good. I ended up taking half of it in a to go box. The breakfast options are limited, but if you are ok with just getting something from the bakery it is fine. Would avoid the watery oatmeal. Easy to mobile order and pick up!
The food is very quick if that is what you are assuming for. Some of the food I probably would not order again, but other dishes in the menu were excellent. The lamb stew was very tasty. The part that impressed me was the extensive condiment counter. It has fresh vegetables and everything I could imagine for what is on the menu. Make sure you stop by if you order a sandwich!
The kids loved the pizza, the adults thought the meat/rice bowls were just okay. The theming is super nice, and it was overall a good experience.
We love Animal Kingdom Lodge and Mara more than serves it purpose as a quick service meal site. The bakery is well stocked and service is consistent. It gets a little crowded and needs some cleaning after a long day but it is a nice change of pace from the park menus.
One of the better quick service restaurants at a Disney hotel. Wide selection, with a nice assortment of baked goods. Lots of seating, with outdoor tables as well. If you mobile order, be aware that at this location they just put it on a public shelf where anyone has access to your food before you pick it up. Also I did have problems at one of the specialty stations in that nobody was making it, so you couldn't get certain items. This happened twice in two days.
We enjoy this quick service a lot. We like to sit outside on the patio while we eat. The mixed tomato flatbread is our go to--love it. The zebra domes are a must and the peanut butter brownie is now our new favourite. The jungle juice slush is delicious. The snacks are fun to look at. We try to eat at odd times as it does get very crowded. Even when we stay at other resorts we come here at least once.
Great food and service! We enjoyed our experience! We walked from Kidani Village over to Jambo house. Easy walk.
Quick service restaurant. Don't have any complaints with the food or the service we received. Perfect to start our day and sometimes end our day. Restaurant is off the pool side but surrounded by greenery. Inside gets a little noisy as it fills but that's to be expected. A lot of seating inside and out, so we never struggled to find somewhere to park and eat. Pizza was good. Mickey waffles were good.
I would highly recommend the bowls here. The beef bowl was great. It can get a little loud, but what restaurant doesn't. It offers the standard Disney fare plus some unique meals as well. All around, not bad.
Speedy, and friendly breakfast service. Breakfast quinoa and parfait were super sweet. Family favorites were the breakfast bounty and the Micksy’s waffles with fruit. Pictured below was one of the Rhino cupcakes in the fridge. Highly recommend it if you like chocolate cupcakes. It had a Carmel pudding core and I loved the crusty candies on it! They also sell zebra domes here which we enjoyed at another location at the resort.
As the quick service food option at Animal Kingdom Lodge, The Mara is a convenient place to eat. You can order meals or grab packaged or premade items off shelves and check out quickly. There’s also a coffee bar. A highlight for our crew is the gluten-fee zebra stripe domes dessert which you have to ask for as they keep the gluten-free ones in the back. The normal version is available for you to easily pick up and purchase.
Pretty good counter service. I had the flatbread pepperoni pizza and it was pretty good. We had fountain drinks and some desserts. All in all it was what we were looking for, and satisfied the needs of the family without breaking the bank. We sat outside near the pool and would recommend it, but it was not hot when we’re eat there (8pm and late December)
Just your average theme park American fare quick service with some theming. Completely fine for what it is, and not too expensive. It is one of those quick eats that you have no complaints about but want to leave behind as quickly as possible.
Had their entire menu over a week of mobile app orders. Best entree- any bowl with the kale side salad/protein/rice. Beef stew bowl was great. Chicken tenders and fries all solid. Beware the African curry was different every time we ordered- sometimes sweet sometimes super spicy. Burger is pretty good but small. Didn't love the falafel (dry), the butternut squash soup, or the any of the cake dessert- the Mickey ice cream sandwich was the best dessert. We did the special disney refill cups, super convenient for coffee throughout the day and afternoon. The tea is awful, coffee is great, soft drinks standard. Staff are wonderful and mobile app ordering super convenient and accurate with orders. Inside is a bit gaudy for seating area but outside tables great vibe. Pro tip. If you need to leave your hotel room for some laptop writing or work time in morning or evening, the Mara outdoor tables are the best private place to work. All lobby areas have people walking around you, whereas Mara most people in early AM or PM are doing pick up orders.
Rápidos y con comida normal
The breakfast at The Mara was actually pretty good, but unfortunately, the service fell short in a key area. My wife has a food allergy and placed a special order, which ended up taking over 30 minutes to be served. When she went to ask about it, they told her they had already marked it as delivered despite the fact that she was still holding the beeper device they gave her, which hadn’t gone off. We did receive a refund, and we appreciate that gesture, but it’s really important for the staff to be more attentive to these kinds of details, especially when it involves allergy related orders. Mistakes like this can be more than just inconvenient....they can be dangerous.
it is what it is. quick service with incredibly basic selections. it’s great for when you don’t want to go through the hassle of making reservations and traveling to places. the mobile ordering is particularly useful. food is fine and on par with fast food. not worth going out of your way for if you’re not staying at the animal kingdom lodge, but you’ll find yourself there for sure if you are staying there.
Food is decent. They do have specialty items on the menu like Zebra domes. Never have to wait too long for food but I definitely recommend ordering food within the app rather than waiting in line.
The Mara is a quick serve restaurant in Animal Kingdom Lodge. Its located near the pool and provides indoor and outdoor seating. Dress is casual, price is low/medium for Disney, and service is quick. So, to start off with the good. The Mara is conveniently located for a quick bite to eat at the hotel. The portion sizes are pretty good, some items can even be shared, which helps keep your food budget cost down. Service is quick, staff is friendly, and the location is clean. Food items available are decent for picky eaters when compared to the other food offerings at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Now for the reasons of why I’m giving the Mara three stars. The food is mediocre compared to other offerings around Disney. We had a burger and the chicken sandwich, and it was extremely bland. The portions were large, which is always nice, but that didn’t make up for the lack of flavor in both meals. I’d have a hard time seeing a menu like this survive outside of the safety of Disney. A little extra attention to flavor would go a long way to making this establishment a great pit stop for a hungry family.
We have stayed at Animal Kingdom several times. The food was good then. Pizza lacked flavor. Went downstairs several times and couldn't buy baked goods that were in the bakery after breakfast time because it was blocked off. On our last day my son in law went down to pick up chicken tenders but was not allowed to buy a sandwich out of the coolet because they were blocked off. We would have spent more money in Mara if conditions were different. We spent 8 days and 7 nights at the hotel. Hotel was great but Mara was disappointing.
This is disappointing for resort quick service. They somehow make mobile order confusing, and the food is only ok compared the the Disney standard. We ended up eating here several times during our stay because of the convenience, and wished we had made the effort to go somewhere else 3/4 of the time.
Restaurant by the pool at Jambo House. Food was okay. Fountain drink cups have a code at bottom so you can ONLY get 3 refills and it's around $7+, I think it's petty for a resort that is pricey. Or you can pay around $20 for unlimited refill cup. I think Disney would turn over in his grave at how corporate $ signs it's become.
The Mara is a pleasant indoor / outdoor quick serve resturant (self serve) that is in a the very pleasant environment of Animal Kingdom Lodge. The menu is fairly short with a burger, pulled pork sandwiches and salad bowls. It’s reasonably priced no higher than 15.00. It is very popular with families and children to get a no nonsense meal, not very abundant nor satisfying. But many who visit the resturant don’t want to drop the $100 plus dinners at sister restaurants like Jiko upstairs or the buffet next door. This resturant “The Mara” is the home of the popular dessert called the Zebra Dome” with is a chocolate mouse concoction in the shape of a dome with 2 stripes across the top - delicious
Atmosphere, 5/5 Service, 4/5 (a lot of areas needed restocking of items, like ketchup) Food, 2/5 (Magic Kingdom quick service quality, which has continued to decline, really disappointed and didn't finish our meal) Price, 2/5 (expensive considering the poor quality)
The food and prices for the quality are decent. The flatbreads are super tasty (but basically they're pizza) and the zebra domes are always a highlight at all Animal Kingdom restaurants. Mich like a lot of the rest of Disney World however, a lack of care for the site is starting to show through. As pedantic as it sounds, it's not really okay that properties marketed as the top tier "deluxe" experience are falling slowly into disrepair, with paint peeling, patches of what looks like mold on the ceiling (pictured), and water damage that hasn't been repaired in rooms. The Mara is a decent quick service spot for what it is!
Food: 3- The roasted tomato flatbread was actually pretty tasty! And you can’t go wrong with a zebra dome! Service: It’s a quick service, nothing special Disney: 3- Price wise it’s not bad but don’t expect awesomeness!
If you order here, make sure you do it ahead of time on the mobile app. We ate here twice on our week long visit and both times ordering was chaotic. My son’s meal was missed entirely one time and when I went to get it they had no indication it was even supposed to be made, even though I already paid for it. The other time was confusing because you need to get in multiple lines depending on what you’re ordering. The food came out at different times and the cashier couldn’t figure out how to ring it up. The food was just okay.
Food was good but not very hot. Fries were cold and chicken tenders tasted like they had sat under heat lamp too long.
We chose to eat here on our check in day. You can mobile order here, but we came in around 4 pm so it was not crowded. They have a Joffreys station here. They have a variety of bowls and flatbreads. We ordered a harissa spiced beef bowl which was decent. It was expensive for the portion that you got. We also got our resort refillable mug here, which there is a refill station here with a lot of options. Note they do have grab and go options in the fridge as well as alcohol and wines and the zebra domes. Overall, one mug, one beef bowl, and two coffees costed over $50. Not worth it. The location is by the pool so many families were coming in and out from the pool. We decided not to order from here again because the other menu options didn’t look that appetizing when we were ordering at the counters.
We made a quick stop at The Mara and grabbed the Chickpea Salad Sandwich (not pictured) as well as the Sunflower Cake. The sandwich was an absolute standout for a pre-made cold option — the whole wheat pita was hearty, and the chickpea salad filling was essentially a smooth hummus with bits of onion, maybe some celery, and whole chickpeas mixed in. Surprisingly delicious and super satisfying. The Sunflower Cake, unfortunately, was a miss. While the spiced flavor was nice, the cake itself was quite dry, making it forgettable. The Mara’s lighting at night is oddly dim and gives the place a slightly eerie vibe, though the staff was friendly and welcoming.
I got the zebra domes after reading the positive reviews, but they were nasty tasting (not really sure how to describe it - not overly sweet or anything but they had an unpleasant flavor and texture). They also came with a sticker showing a giant list of ingredients. I also got the ricotta flatbread which was decent.
One of the busiest and loudest quick services we’ve been to at a hotel. It was so crowded during breakfast, with super long lines for hot food. We opted each morning to just get cereal and muffins because it was so busy.
This place sits in Jambo house in Animal Kingdom lodge area and is the quick service option only offer here for both lodges. The food is mediocre at best and is burgers, salads and assorted bowls. The service here is slow and for the amount of staff they have I would expect better and faster service. The options are few and for the price tag I would of expected better quality food options since Captain Cooks is much better at Polynesian. Id skip this place.
Food and drink choices are very limited aside from the many desserts. The drink machines were old and leaking and needed replaced. The entire place needed an update for what you would expect in a deluxe resort. The quick service is better in all of the value resorts and moderates than here. Service was good though.
A pretty disappointing disney quick service restaurant. The food selection is very sparse and the customization options even less so. Over the course of our stay we ate here twice and got different things. Both times were were left wanting more. Most of the food was pretty sub par and some just plain tasteless. The only thing I think it has going for it is the convenience. Mobile orders are quickly filled, but the staff in charge of them seem miserable to be there.
Its a basic cafeteria level of food. Waited over 30 minutes for a take out order that was after I waited 15 minutes to place in the "restaurant". I would say to go is better to do, but after listening to the cast members...its all a bad process. They are so inefficient they stumble over the orders. Its over priced tater "barrels" tots are just an afterthought. The egg pucks are the same you get for free at the Holiday Inn. The amount of time spent with the excessive price...you can walk to your car...drive to McDonald's where you will get a FRESH cracked egg with more efficient and speedy service.
Ordered from my mobile phone in the disney app, with a window of 9.30pm to 10pm. We arrived at 9.30pm and clicked the "I'm here" prompt. We didnt get our food until 10.15pm at least. We saw tons of people with later orders, as well as walk-ins get their food before us. I asked at least 4 cast members about my order, and all of them assured me it was coming "soon". At 10.10pm approx, the manager on the floor just tells me they have no chicken for my bowl and to choose some substitution dish, to just look at "whatever they have and let her know". As I looked perplexed someone came into the prepping area and she said "oh chicken is here", without giving my presence a second thought. The most awkward and strange interaction with dinning so far at disney (everything else has been really great except this resort dinning experience). No apologies, no help, bad customer service all in all. My kids simply fell asleep on the table waiting. After I got my food I had to return 3 times for items they forgot, or got wrong. Also most of my food items were cold of course, as they had boxed them early and didn't bother remaking them when the chicken arrived. The food was good, barring the cold items, but the experience left us a really bad taste after a long day.
Mobile order and the setup here is confusing. The menu is very limited. Somehow they managed to mess up breakfast and dinner order in the same day. This is honestly the worst quick service location I’ve experienced at Disney. Pop Century is much cheaper and the food court blows this one out of the water.
The food is pretty gross. People not super nice. You have to order the espresso drinks at the cashier, which is the only thing you order there. Doesn’t matter though because the Americano is so gross, multiple people were complaining.
This used to be one of our favorite quick service meals at Disney World, but now we won't be returning. Most of our favorite meals such as the African stew is no longer on the menu, and it took 25 minutes to get a simple pair of flatbreads and pulled pork sandwich. Won't be coming back.
It’s a restaurant at a Disney property, so you sort of already know what to expect. Most of the food tasted fine, but my order was messed up twice. Portions were very small and obviously it’s incredibly expensive. Ten grapes was $2.39 as a side but when this is one of the only places at AK lodge to get breakfast you’re kind of stuck. Lunch and dinner seemed like a better value than breakfast. Staff was friendly and helpful when I explained the issue I had.
The cleanliness of the tables are not well maintained. It’s pretty bad. The service level has declined over the years. I tried to order a burger and I was told the ran out of French fries. Menu options are pretty limited.
I mistakenly posted my full review of The Mara under The Jambo House. To reiterate, my family got food poisoning from the pulled pork sandwiches. This happened February 9th 2026. It was a terrible ending to such a beautiful day.
I got food poisoning from the Beef Harissa. The management refused to refund the money for my meal. I ate around 7 and was throwing up by 10pm. Leader Krystle went through every hoop to blame me for the illness and took no accountability. After checking temperature records she concluded that it was impossible for me to have gotten food poisoning from the restaurant. She also stated that food poisoning happens much faster than 3 hours so that couldn't be what happened. Food poisoning can take any where from minutes to days depending on the pathogen. It's alarming that Disney has someone with so little knowledge of food safety leading others. Food poisoning literally kills people. I was just lucky. I would never eat here again and it's a shame because the meal was delicious at first.
