Decent choice on the edge of Lake Placid. The food was delicious and served quickly. Our table had padded bench seating on one side and cheap metal chairs on the other. The chairs were very uncomfortable. The service was fast, but not super attentive. We had to ask for ketchup twice. Prices were reasonable, cheaper than most places on Main Street.

Friendly little place. Cool walk up window to order food if you are on the patio with your dog. Poutine was good. Uses melted cheese instead of curds but still delish. Caprese handheld was also great.

Great option for casual lunch or dinner. good tasting burgers and I'd go back for the hot dog topped with beans and crunchy fried onions. (They should offer an option for 2 - hot dog a bit on the small side). Comfortable and friendly staff. Fair prices.

My food was very good. I recommend the wings and the salads. Both were very good. However wife's food was not as good. She ordered the crab cake. (Mostly breading -- not a lot of crab). And the Cole slaw. The Cole slaw was very bland. We recommend that they add celery seed to their cole slaw to add some flavor. Server was great and friendly and accommodating!

Great food and service. Maybe a tad overpriced, but we enjoyed it. I had the black bean burger, sweet potato fries, and a boozy pina colada.

Food is just maybe OK. I had a black bean burger which had the taste and texture of a frozen patty. Sweet potato fries were better than the burger. Shack Bowl with chicken was not fresh. The restaurant had the unpleasant smell of warm dishwasher water.

Would’ve loved this place if my burger was cooked. Waitress didn’t check on the table and only refilled water after we were done eating and waiting for the check. When she asked how everything was I said, “one of my patties was still raw” she said “oh I’m sorry” and then walked away. No offer to Remaley, no offer of money taken off. Just make sure you look at your food before you eat.

Thought we'd try here as we were in town and wanted to try a different place. We elected to eat outside as it was a beautiful day. Ordered from the window. Two dack burgers and a full order of wings as an appetizer. Added from tap, a blueberry pale ale and an amber frog IPA. SHOCK .. The total came to $72 !!!! Took 30 minutes .. we drank our beers slowly .. before we had to go to the window to inquire about our order. Several other patrons after us were already eating and preparing to leave. They were big orders and several children too. The burgers came first. Huh? We ordered an appetizer? Halfway through burgers before our wings arrived. See photos. The burgers were ok. Had to search for the carmelized onions. Yup, one tiny little strand. Ample bacon and cheese. For $16, I expected something memorable for their signature burger. I had chips, and my son had fries. I think I got more potatoes in my chips than he got in fries Regarding our appetizer? They split apart 4 wings to make 8 pieces. At $16, a total ripoff. We got ranch dressing when we asked for blue cheese. We left still hungry. Not going back.

First of all, our server was great. That is where the positives end. The food was not very good, the atmosphere was horrible - ceiling dripping into bucket near us. We were seated in a very drafty, overly lit, cramped area. We regretted not leaving the minute we walked into this run down place. Plus, they forgot to charge us for a dessert and then tapped into my credit card the next day... not sure that's even legal. Stay away from this place.

Came in for a burger and fries and left disappointed. I ordered a basic burger with cheddar cheese and the “shack sauce”. The burger was well done when ordered medium, and the food was decent but the sauce and cheese were each a $2 upcharge, which was not mentioned by the waitress. The sauce was basically just mayonnaise, which shouldn’t be a $2 upcharge. The waitress, Rachael, was unprofessional and rude and did not apologize at all. Overall paid $22 for a cheeseburger with fries, which is ridiculous.

Cute place, we were excited to try based on reviews and just driving past, we decided to order pickup so we could sit by the water while we ate. The food looked and smelled good, but that was the only good part of it. The chicken was extremely over fried, burnt on the outside and tough/dry on the inside, there was zero seasoning whatsoever and all I could taste was burnt oil. The burger was overdone and burnt as well, and so messy that the bun was ripping apart and you couldn’t even try to eat it. Neither of us took more than 2 bites of our food before giving up and throwing it away. Sad I wasted the money on a place that seemed like it was going to be great.

I am not one to complain but I had a very disappointing experience at The Dack Shack. The staff was extremely rude and unprofessional. I had politely asked for my sandwich to be toasted after they forgot, and instead of simply fixing it, they argued with me and said it wasn’t written down. They then rolled their eyes, laughed, and made fun of me right in front of other customers. Totally unacceptable behavior and not how any customer should be treated especially paying $17 for a sandwich. I won’t be returning and would not recommend this place based on how disrespectfully the staff handled a simple request.
