There are moments in a man’s life when he stumbles upon something so pure, so violently authentic, that it shakes the foundations of his culinary reality. Chris’ Taverna is that kind of place. A sun-soaked temple of Greek madness where the gyros come at you like warm Mediterranean thunder and the tzatziki could probably broker peace in the Middle East if deployed correctly. The food isn’t just good, it’s fantastic, dangerously so. Each plate is a declaration of independence from the limp, corporate slop that poisons the American palate. The gyros are out of this world, fat and furious, wrapped in soft pita like a divine conspiracy of flavor and grease. You’ll want to salute it, or maybe weep a little, depending on how many ouzos you’ve had. And the staff operate with a kind of joyful efficiency that suggests they know they’re feeding the faithful. No pretense, no nonsense. Just big smiles, heavy plates, and the quiet confidence of people who know they’re serving the real thing. Portions? Enormous. Caveman-sized. You’ll leave either elated or sedated, possibly both. Chris’ Taverna isn’t just a restaurant. It’s a full-throttle, feta-fueled voyage into the heart of Greek culinary glory — and once you’ve tasted it, there’s no going back to ordinary food again.
I had lunch recently and was really impressed. Magnificent food. Warm welcoming atmosphere. Great service. I will be back to check out dinner. Highly recommended.
I had this place circled before I arrived, and I was happy to agree when the family we were staying with suggested this place whom they were regulars. It lives up to its reputation, we have some great Greek Restaurants up here, and this is right up there. We'll be glad to order from them again next time we're down.
I visit this place once a year when I'm in the area, because I love Greek food and this is my only reliable source (and I've tried others). I went on a Friday night around 8, hoping the wait wouldn't be long. We only waited about 15 minutes to be seated (not bad for a Friday night). I always order the same thing (the Gyro platter) since it's only once a year and I'm craving it after such a long time. They did not disappoint. The servers were friendly and very attentive. It was a very pleasant experience all around.
Realy tasty food. We love their lamb chops, delicious humus and good beer. This year we can see the price is higher, for family of 4 $200.
Amazing Authentic Greek food. Always busy and they don’t take reservations, but the food is always worth waiting for. Portions are huge. Warm pita and fresh homemade tzatziki comes to the table for starter. Chicken Pita is one of my favorites and the warm pita is stuffed with char grilled marinated chicken. Greek salad is large enough for 2 and I ordered it wit Gyro which was piled high and so good. I’ve never been disappointed with this family run restaurant. Service is always good too.
If I could; I would give Chris Taverna a 10/5. I been going to Chris Taverna for years. Their food is just amazing. Truly authentic Greek, full of flavors, and always fresh! Lamb chops and octopus is my favorite. If my wife wasn’t a great cook I would probably go to Chris Taverna every night for dinner👌🏽😂 They keep their quality so I keep my loyalty🙌🏽 God bless them
Chris' Taverna on Lantana Road is a great Greek restaurant with amazing food and friendly service. The gyros and souvlaki are always fresh and full of flavor, and the portions are generous. It’s a simple, welcoming spot that never disappoints. Highly recommend if you’re craving good Greek food.
If I could give Chris's Taverna ten stars, I would. Excellent service and delicious, wonderful food. Cathy provided superior service, she was exceptional, patient, caring and a true gem. All the other ladies and gentlemen servers were also wonderful, attentive and caring, often walking to my table and asking if I needed anything. They were also kind and brought my take out order to my car. The food is the best, tasty, perfectly cooked and delicious. This is by far the best Greek restaurant around, and superior to any others. Ten stars from me for Chris's Taverna! We love this place!
Get there early during the Snowbird season as by 5:00p.m. parking is almost nonexistent. The food is great and worth any parking maladjustments. The atmosphere is casual and friendly. There's indoor and outdoor seating and extremely efficient takeout orders section.
We recently placed a large order to feed staff at an All-staff meeting. The food was DELICIOUS, the staff were accommodating, and the prices were very reasonable! We will definitely be ordering from here again! Couldn't ask for a better experience!!!
Great Greek food. Service is fast. Food portion is great. Enough to share or take home. We enjoyed sharing a few apps and the meat Platter between 4 people. The food is tasty, authentic and great value. I recommend to arrive early as they are very busy and you may have to wait to get a table. A new review Aug 23rd, 2023 Amazing! Hands down the best Greek food in Lantana. I've added my new photos for everyone to enjoy. Every dish is prepared fresh and very tasty. Thank you again for great service and delicious food!
Met some friends for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. We were seated immediately. The server was friendly. I ordered a gyro with fries, one friend ordered the Pastitsio and another the chicken pita wrap. The food was full of flavor and the portions were large. The restaurant is very open. We asked if there was a more private area and they sat us in a back area which was perfect. We appreciated them being so accommodating.
Came back to Chris’ Tavern in Lantana because the food is just that good. The Grecian Plate is enormous and absolutely delicious. Huge shoutout to Eugenia, our waitress—excellent, friendly, and genuinely pleasant. Honestly, the entire staff is great. Solid food, great service, no nonsense. We’ll definitely be back
Wonderful authentic Greek food. Everything is usually very tasty, fresh, and they give decent portions. Although, most of the items are very salty including the regular French fries that they claim they don't put salt on them? It's a shame about the excess salt because they serve really good high quality tasty food so it doesn't require being overly salty. People can add more salt if they desire it but you can't take it out. Service is always great and the servers are extremely upbeat and friendly. The atmosphere is just ok but the wonderful food and service make it a local Gem. They don't take reservations and it gets very crowded during prime times so call ahead. Large free parking lot but it also gets very crowded and you may have a small walk from your vehicle to the restaurant. Good for takeout.
For over two decades, I have been a patron of Chris’ Taverna restaurant (first as a local Lake Worth resident and now as a visitor) and it continues to captivate my taste buds. This establishment has truly stood the test of time, consistently delivering an extraordinary dining experience Whether it's the mouthwatering gyro platter, the tender chicken or pork souvlaki, or the perfectly sweet baklava, you will be very pleased Equally impressive is the restaurant's service, which has remained excellent throughout the years. The staff members are warm, attentive, and always ready to provide recommendations. Whether you are a regular or a first-time visitor, you are treated with the utmost care. If you find yourself in Florida, in the West Lake Worth area, this Greek restaurant is an absolute must-visit.
Food here was really good and flavorful. I ordered the pork souvlaki this time around with lemon herb potatoes and orzo. Each item was full of flavor and the pork was flame-grilled to perfection. I usually don't prefer orzo but it too was quite tasty. The price was very fair, $30 for the entrée and it was supposed to be lunch but ended up being both lunch and dinner. Great portions, you could take a date here and easily be able to feed both of you with 1 entrée and maybe a side, keep it under $40 for quality Greek food. Worth stopping here if you like Mediterranean/Greek food. Inside was quite busy for lunch, about 85% capacity, mostly older customers over 50. Outdoor seating was beautiful at this time of year(winter). The only thing that was strange was that I was the youngest person ordering and I'm in my 30s. Overall very nice place.
Have driven by this place many times while shopping near here. Never knew what it was and never stopped in. Just recently saw it advertised on Facebook, checked it out and saw that I knew right where is was. Stopped in here this evening for dinner. Was greeted by two friendly hostesses, seated immediately. Advised my waitress (Alison) that it was my first time here and she stated to let her know if I had any questions, and took our drinks order right away. Then brought some Pita Bread with a spread/dip to go with it. While ordering, did have a couple of questions, which Alison answered right away. Ended up ordering a Gyro Wrap and a Gyro plate. The Greek salads were very large and tasted great. The Wrap and plate were also very good. The lemon potatoes were excellent. Portions were pretty good sized, both diners had leftovers. It was a bit pricey though, 2 drinks, the Wrap and Plate was $54. ( before tip). The service was supreme, would give Alison 10 stars if I could. I will come back to try other things on the menus.
Absolutely loved this Greek spot! The portion sizes were generous, and every dish was packed with bold, delicious flavor. The hummus tasted incredibly fresh — creamy, well-seasoned, and clearly made in-house. The staff even offered extra bread to go, which was such a nice touch. Great service overall. Definitely a place I’ll be coming back to!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Our dine-in experience today was absolutely outstanding, and it was all thanks to Vickie! As newcomers to the area, first impressions matter, and Vickie exceeded every expectation. From the moment we were seated, she greeted us with genuine warmth and made us feel immediately welcome, like valued regulars rather than first-time guests. Vickie was incredibly attentive without ever being intrusive. She took the time to explain the menu, offered thoughtful recommendations, and checked in at just the right moments to ensure everything was perfect. Her knowledge, professionalism, and positive attitude truly elevated our entire dining experience. Every request was handled promptly and with a smile, and it was clear she takes great pride in delivering exceptional service. Because of Vickie, this restaurant has already earned a special place for us as we settle into the area. She turned a simple meal into a memorable experience, and we couldn’t be happier. If you have the opportunity to be served by Vickie, you’re in excellent hands. We will absolutely be returning and recommending this place to others!
The food here was absolutely delicious. Great portion sizes, excellent service. Our server Kevin was super attentive and very friendly. Can't wait to come back again it was so good.
Excellent service ! I want to congratulate the waiters and waitresses , they are quick and attentive with my needs We had Vicky as the waitress and she was such a sweetheart! I hope to her smiling face again and the waiter with glasses that picked up the plates was very kind too . This will always be my go to spot for now on because the food here is delicious!
This is a popular place in Lantana. The food is consistently good and the portions are large. We were happy to snag a table on the patio
My parents and grandparents love coming here for the quality of food and good prices. The favs are the gyro and the lamb chops. The lamp chops are huge, lots of meat and they give you 5 of them. Seasonings were perfect, one was a little too salty but overall cooked to perfection. I love the side of the lemony potatoes and a salad. For two sides and the meal of lamb chops for $38 you can’t beat that for the portion and quality. I split the meal with my grandma and I saw other people splitting meals as well. No splitting charge! And no charge for using a credit card. The gyro platter and gyro sandwich are huge and the meat is succulent. You can see them carving it off the spits in the front. On a Saturday night at 6:30 the place was packed but we only waited 10 min to sit inside when we were told 20. They are very quick but they don’t rush you out. Service is excellent and attentive. Even if you are not a Greek food fan like me I recommend to try this place. I don’t usually like tzatziki sauce or feta but I like them both here! They also give you complimentary pita.
I like döner, and while the one here isn’t the traditional Turkish-style, it leans more toward a Greek-style gyro. The meat and ingredients are actually pretty decent for that type. The place itself is nice, the staff are friendly, and the warm pita bread they serve at the start is a great touch.
One of the best greek restaurant in town. Great taste and serves quickly. There is lots of options for the vegetarian. Serves fresh pita and hummus. Highly recommended Tips : Please seat outside while you go for lunch or dinner. Great Atmosphere outside.
Good lunch specials here include salad and a soft drink. It's the usual Greek fare, but well done. Service can swing wildly from attentive to ignored. When it's good, it's good. They're very busy at lunch. I enjoy the gyro and a 🥗. The warm pita while waiting is nice too.
The best Greek restaurant in the area. We were in a hurry so I didn’t take more photos. Food is delicious, flavorful & plentiful. Our waitress was friendly, helpful & quick. It was a bit chilly outside but there were heat lamps set up for the cold. Just know that there is gonna be a wait around dinner time especially on a Friday or Saturday night. We’ve been going to Chris’ Taverna since it was a small little restaurant. A definite must for some Greek cuisine!
Easiest five stars review. Meats were flavorful and tender, service was fast and accommodating. Almost all meat dishes are GLUTEN FREE and staff is knowledgeable about what the dishes contain. Will most definitely be returning next time I am in town and will try the lamb chops. Best meal I have had in the area.
If you’re looking for the most authentic Greek dining experience in South Florida, look no further than Chris Taverna in Lake Worth. From the moment we sat down, everything was spot-on. The pita bread was incredibly fresh, and their sauces delicious….and the octopus was cooked to absolute perfection—tender, flavorful, and beautifully grilled. The Greek salad was crisp and well-balanced, just like it should be. We ordered the Trio Platter, which included Moussaka, Pastitsio, and Spanakopita—a perfect way to sample their classics, and every bite was delicious. We paired our meal with Mythos beer, which complemented everything nicely. And don’t even get me started on the desserts—the homemade Baklava and Galaktoboureko were the perfect sweet finish. To top it all off, our food arrived within 8 minutes, and the service was outstanding. Jordan and Angel went above and beyond to make our experience exceptional—friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about great service. Without a doubt, Chris Taverna is the best Greek restaurant in South Florida. Can’t wait to go back!

This is a fantastic Greek restaurant! Service was fast and excellent and we loved the dips appetizer. By the time my Shrimp Santorini entree arrived I was so full from the dips, but I pushed through because it was so good. I highly highly recommend.

Beautiful outside weather to dinner at Chris' Taverna. I had the grilled marinated chicken wrap: tender pieces of grilled chicken with everything that came with it. It was beyond delicious. I'm in love with this place. The warm pita quarters served with tzaziki sauce is just fabulous, and it's my favorite. The employees are polite and efficient; they make everything right. Thank you also to the cook/chef line in the back for all the delicious food that comes tableside. And to all those who clean, bus and to the whole wait staff who display utmost patience and kindness in having to deal with the customers who sometimes can be their harshest critical; but can sometimes be their most loyal customers. Thank you to everyone for a must enjoyable and lovely time.
My husband and I went to dinner here for our 24 year wedding anniversary. The food was so good! The lamb chops melt in your mouth and the pita and humus was fresh and delicious! I cannot wait to go back! Yum!

When we first got there our service was a bit off. Thankfully our waiter Miguel came to the rescue with his friendly and warm smile!! He was very attentive and once we told him about our initial experience he brought the situation to his supervisor Jordan’s attention right away. They both really made up for the bad experience, by the time we were done with our meals we felt like part of the family!! The food was amazing!! The place was jam packed and they had a great crowd!!
The food was great, portions were plentiful, taste was amazing, and options were endless. We ordered the hummus with pita bread, chicken Greek salad, and souvlaki Greek salad. The pita bread was fresh and warm. The hummus was very tasty. The salad were fresh, with tomatoes and cucumbers that were super fresh and juicy. The meats and feta cheese were very yummy, as were the olives and the lettuce. Our servers were also great and very attentive. The only thing I didn’t like was the bathrooms. There was no soap on either container and the hand dryer was broken.
This is a truly authentic Greek restaurant and it’s easy to see why it’s so popular with locals. The atmosphere feels genuine and welcoming, without trying too hard to be “touristy.” The food is outstanding — rich flavors, fresh ingredients, and everything tastes homemade. Portions are very generous, so you definitely get great value for money. The kitchen is well equipped, and it shows in the quality and consistency of the dishes. Overall, a fantastic place for anyone who wants to experience real Greek cuisine done right. Highly recommended! 👌🏼
What a great place. Fresh food great service and huge portion. We shared the Grecian platter and the meat was nicely done. There was 4 kind of meat. The platter is for two, but I think it can be for three to four people. The pita and tzatziki were amazing. The pita was warm and the sauce was homemade. Greek salad was great. It gets packed starting at 530 and by 7 it was a full house. Will come again.
I looked on Google Maps for something good to eat. A late lunch and I was actually starving. I wanted good food, real food that satisfied the soul. I went there and immediately was sat inside (my preference) at a table of my choice. Picked a small table and my sever greeted me right away. I got the gyro wrap lunch special. Salad and pita were great! The gyro came out shortly afterwards and boy it was a lot of food. I was able to eat all of it, but then headed into a food coma because I was stuffed. I was in and out in less than 40min total and it happened to hit the spot. I would definitely give them a solid 4.5 stars. I'll be back again to try other things on the menu
This place was referred to me, and after my visit I paid it forward by referring it as well. Nice joint if you're in the mood for Greek food. Service was attentive. Food was good as well. The atmosphere was loud and busy but it's expected with an establishment like that. Will definitely be stopping by again soon.
The portions at this place boggle the mind. Huge!! The souvlaki and seafood dishes are very good. The saganaki wasn't hot enough and was so-so. We sat outside which is nice. Inside seems crowded. …

Completely satisfying, healthy and generous meals. All the Mediterranean favorites are here. The vibe is friendly and the parking is easy. Who could ask for more?!
Can get crowded I prefer the outside seating I have been here several times I stick with the basics such as Gyro etc Food is good, as is the service. prices are reasonable
I’ve been eating here since they’ve opened and always loved it. But in the last year or so the quality and flavor of the food has declined. The lady few times we ordered the pita was so cold and hard. The food also lacked flavor and the chicken has been a bit rubbery. I know they’re always so busy but it’s disappointing.
Ordered a large Greek salad with shrimp. Shrimp was great. A few sprinkles of feta, 3 olives. Ordered an app the grilled Mediterranean pita bread. Their menu on hand ( by the computer) doesn’t match what you pay. Have had that happen before. Greek salad could be better. Dressing was good.
$30 for a serving of mediocre grub. No flavor and under seasoned. Got be real. If your good , you'll get a good review. But, I'm calling straight up duampage on this phone one..
When we arrived, the restaurant was almost empty. A ginger woman with glasses sat us at a table all the way in the back , hidden near the employee doors despite there being multiple empty tables all around. My husband and I are of Hispanic descent and found this of really bad taste. The primary demographic of this restaurant are older white people. We moved but noticed she kept sitting white people near the front so it definitely felt targeted. Aside from that, our waiter was very friendly and the food was ok. I’ve had better Greek food than this. We ordered lamb chops and they came almost burnt. The octopus tasted burnt. The gyro platter was ok as well. Based off the whole experience, I WOULD NOT come back nor would I recommend this place for anyone, especially people of color.
Highly disappointed with this location. I'm used to going to the Hypoluxo location where the food is fresh, great portion and service everything is top tier. This location however very disappointing. Not only was the food COLD, the gyro was was as if it was it very last bit of crumb left that was given, barely a portion and it was literally cut into crumb pieces, a pita of mostly lettuce Unlike the Hypoluxo location that CARES about presentation. The hummus watery!! no taste!! very disappointment, I had to throw it away
