I’ve been hating on Boichik Bagels too long, these are excellent bagels with a shockingly good Bialy (slightly dry and dusty, possibly best on the West Coast). Yes, I’d like the bagels baked on site, that’s just not reasonable, and this model works so there are delicious bagels in Larkspur, on Magnolia. Right? Look, I got Amy The Classic Lox Bagel with all the works, is it ridiculous that is cost $16, yes, did she love every bite, YES! It’s an amazing treat, not every day and it 100% delivers. I watched one of my neighbors buy his mom and $11 dollar bagel and not tip, probably because he thought it was a lot. Ridiculous and embarrassing for him (and the sweater coat he was wearing). This is an incredible version of heaven, and it has incredible bagels, it’s an expensive place to exist and work and we have to incentivize people to serve our community. Rant over, I tipped well to make up for them? Let’s Go!!!!
I was born and raised near the Lower East Side of New York, learned to bake my own bagels, and tasted bagels from all over the US and Canada. With this background, I’m confident when I say that Boichik Bagels really are as good as the New York Times declared in its review. These are not the bagels served in most places on the West Coast. They are smaller. They aren’t salty. They are best not toasted. The crust is perfectly and consistently chewy — a detail that other bakeries outside of New York (and even some in NYC) can’t get right. The staff has been friendly and service fast every time I’ve been here. I’m a fan.
A bagel haven! Boichik Bagels in Larkspur serves up perfect, chewy bagels with a variety of delicious spreads. Fresh, flavorful, and a must-visit for bagel enthusiasts. 🥯🌟

Great bagel sandwiches (some of the best in the bay), service was perfectly nice - maybe they’ve fixed the issues reflected in the other reviews??
I bought a sesame bagel with nothing on it and I really enjoyed it. A touch of saltiness, chewy dough, moist like it was baked that morning. It cost $3.50 which I felt was a fair price.
This place is new so I’d expect a few kinks the first few weeks. Overall, though, my experience has been excellent. I live pretty close so come here frequently and the bagels are outstanding every time. As they’ve opened up the ability to order online (instead of waiting in line) it’s gotten even better in terms of ease and experience as well. I for one am STOKED to have a yummy bagel place in our little downtown. It’s the perfect thing for the space, and by far better than any other local bagel shops. My preference is to get the bagels and toast them myself at home to my own level of crisp. Their cream cheese and other goodies are great for to-go as well. Also, just for the record in response to a different review: they put PLENTY of cream cheese on your bagels. I’ve been maybe 5- 6 times now and I actually have to scrape off excess because I like less than they add on. Not sure how much cream cheese people expect, but any more than their normal would be absurd IMHO.
Ordered my usual egg bagel with light cream cheese and used my homemade jam. It never disappoints. Got a bakers dozen to go 13 for $36, and can make my own for weeks. They’re fantastic sliced and frozen then toasted to revive them. Cinnamon raisin and sesame are also fab.
Big Boichik fan!! This place has become our new “go-to” spot! Super fresh bagels, great lox, and very accommodating. For those who can’t eat dairy, they provide kite hill cream cheese. The Lox is super delicious and they give you a very generous portion. Always ready quickly and tastes great. Larkspur is so lucky to have such a great, new spot in town!!
Boichik is the standard for bay area bagels, with delicious fresh bagels and quality sandwiches. It is so wonderful and impressive to see them continue to expand across the bay area so everyone who wants great bagels can have them without having to go far! It's also heartening to see an inclusive queer owned business who expresses their commitment to basic human rights and equality succeeding like this. Those who aren't happy with this aspect are welcome to keep eating mediocre bagels literally anywhere else. The rest of us will be happy to keep Boichik in business 💖

So excited to have a boichik in Marin! We used to make the trek over to Berkeley every other weekend to pick up sandwiches and a dozen bagels, and it’s amazing to be able to pop there anytime! The bagels are stellar— even better than NYC.

Great bagel place! Love that they have vegan bagels (all except the egg bagel) and 3 kinds of Kite Hill vegan cream cheese (plain, strawberry, and chive). There was a mix-up with our bagels but they remade them promptly! We thought they were delicious. They do run out of the popular flavours fast so get there earlier
I really wanted to love this place, because it's in a wonderful location, with wonderful places to hang out. Unfortunately, the bagels, in spite of the origin story of the hard-working founder, appear to have been made with recipes from Noah's Bagels-great squishy pillows of dough (my least favorite bagel in the world. Yes, I'm from New York). No, not quite that bad. What really ruined the experience for me was the whitefish spread that tasted only of salt and nothing else. Let's hope it was just a bad batch. You'll find better bagels and whitefish at House of Bagels in San Rafael or New York Bagels in the Strawberry shopping center, Mill Valley - both places have been around forever and endure for a reason.

Bagel and lox like any other. Staff not allowed to provide a cup of water, I could only get water if I bought a bottle EVEN though I ordered two bagel sandwiches. And they were not allowed to make an open face sandwich. Really?? You need to up your game, Boichik!
They burn your bagel if you ask for it toasted (bagel purists don't toast their bagels so perhaps that's what I get for asking for my bagel toasted). Their vegan cream cheese does not taste good. No coffee. But fantastic setting in downtown Larkspur next to the redwoods! Besides the store setting and general outdoor ambiance, this disappointing bagel will make you pine for a real NYC bagel... go to Loveskis if you want a better tasting trendy bagel shop

I ordered certain bagels and I got a bakers dozen. They totally got the types of bagels wrong in terms of what I ordered. When I got home, I was completely disappointed. The quality of the bagels were hard and the onion bagel were the worst I've had in a long time. The shop in Berkeley is the best place to get their bagels because they're freshly made there or used to be. I am completely disappointed with this visit and I won't be getting their bagels anymore. I am just responding to Boichick's reply: Yes, the receipt had my correct order on the bag but the bagels were wrong in the bag from the receipt. Thank you for providing the bagels that I was missing from my bag on my subsequent visit.
So , I don’t usually do reviews but I was pretty weirded out by the atmosphere at this specific location compared to the other Boichik Bagel locations I have been to. First of all they are not sanitary I saw one of the girl employees using her phone when she was making the bagel sandwiches. Secondly, one of the guy employees was obnoxiously loud for no reason with his earphones in. He then proceeded to hand me my bag of sandwiches and when I was waiting outside I saw him checking out my wife which was frustrating to see. Whoever manages this place needs to manage a lot better super unorganized location. If you want better bagels with a much cleaner and organized atmosphere and employees go to New York Bagels in Strawberry.
So today Sunday 6/22 I went into Boichik Bagels like I usually do every other week. I was planning on buying sandwiches which I ended up doing but I usually also buy drinks from Boichik since Equator the next door coffee shop always has long lines. I usually get some orange juices or Dr Brown and some waters but they didn’t have any waters. I don’t understand how a place runs out of the most popular drink WATER. Whoever is in charge of ordering items for this shop SUCKS, this always happens if it’s not one thing they are out of it’s another thing. This is unacceptable I really hope the manager in charge of this location is talked about these constant issues. Don’t even get me started with the employees there🙄. Those two girls making the sandwiches are extremely unprofessional they not only don’t change their gloves when doing unsanitary things they are obnixiously loud. This isn’t the first time I’ve seen this happen. They also happened to be touching eachothers hair and face and then proceeded to make the sandwiches that is totally not sanitary. Seems like this bagel shop has lots to work on hope the owner of the Boichik franchise can fix these problems since clearly the manager can’t.
Ok - How many weeks will it take At 3+ weeks - Went to Amex and BBB to file since no action from Boichik bagel shop. Customer support - follow up? Wow.... I did get an email - Amex receipt and transaction number shared - phone call data shared. Original- again shorted on order. i even asked as bag looked light - told yes 24 bagels are in bag- and yet they gave 18. why tip - feel like a fool tipping ten bucks just to get shorted. no oversight and store obviously needs a supervisor- been loyal client but this happen more than once recently
I grew up on the East Coast eating real, NY style bagels. I heard/read the hype on this place and was extremely disappointed. They have some interesting toppings, which is unique, a nice little store front, friendly staff, but the bagels themselves were nothing to brag about. They are “average” at best. I also ordered a toasted bagel with butter and they use some machine that is super fast, the bagel looks toasted, but it’s not crisp and hot. Totally lame… how about a real toaster please! The real shocker came when I ordered 3 bagels to-go that cost $9.00! $3/bagel? That’s a whopping $36/dozen! Really? San Anselmo’s Barton’s bagels (not my favorite, but decent) are $2.10 each, San Rafael House of Bagels are $1.50 each (and personal I think there are better than Boichik’s), New York Bagels in Strawberry Center Mill Valley are $$1.75 each. I understand that rent in Larkspur is very expensive, but is it worth gouging your customers? First impressions are always most important, sorry to say…. I will never come back to Boichick’s for ridiculously overpriced bagels.
I hate to write a negative review on this place but I’ve been there several times now…. Bagels were cold even though I got there the moment they opened - almost like they were baked over 10+ hours ago. The staff were friendly. As a bagel nerd, I have to say these bagels fall short of the hype big time. The only great thing about them is the quality of their toppings. Otherwise the bagels tasted only slightly better than a grocery store bagel. I’ve also been to their headquarter locations in Berkeley and had the same disappointing experience with the bread quality. If a New York bagel averages 9/10, this place is close to a 4/10. Redwood Bagel Company in Novato is slightly better, with lower cost. What makes any NY bagel taste its best is the fresh warm and fluffy bread texture you just don’t have here… you have cold and dense. Lastly I don’t recommend ordering spreads… they are super cheap with their spreads whether it’s cream cheese or avocado. They put on a tiny amount (very unlike New York) and send you on your way. Feels like a rip off. There’s also no space to stand as you wait for your order… unlike the Berkeley locations which do have plenty of sitting/standing space there is practically zero here… All this to say, if you do go I recommend the salt and pepper bagel. Just pick up some cream cheese or avocado separately at the grocery store and make your own toppings :)
I was in the shop the other day and the man with long hair and a backwards hat taking my order was hitting on my friend. He kept making uncomfortable comments that made her feel unwelcomed in the store. I will not be coming back and advise people to stay away. Bagel was pretty good though.

UPDATE #2: Don't waste your time with this place. I called in advance this time and they said there would be bagels when I arrived, only for them to be sold out on arrival 15 min later (at 11:45am no less). They have officially lost a customer. UPDATE: The bagels are still good, but beware they are not made fresh on-site, and as a result they may run out well before close. Don't show up disappointed like I did. Reducing 1 star for lack of inventory. Previous Review: Might be the best bagel in Marin. The cream cheese ratio is wonderful (east coasters know). Only 4 stars since I'm from NJ and have very high bagel standards.
