We've been coming here for years, I have never been disappointed with the food or the service. I love shawarma, and I judge others by Papu's. The salads are fresh and the hummus is creamy and delicious!
I drive 30 minutes to get gyros. Great food at a good price!!!
This Mediterranean restaurant is inside a gas station. It has tables to eat at. The flavors of the foods I had was outstanding. The service was swift and the lady working the day i showed up was extremely nice. I had the falafel gyro platter. I left full and it was only $16. I Highly recommend this place.
Worth the 11.06 I spent on a swarma combo with rice it was amazing for a gas station if your out here grab some give them some love.
Food was fresh made to order, well seasoned and generous portions. Very reasonable priced also. Delicious! Definitely will visit again.
Great portions at a very affordable price the service was excellent and the food was delicious
This is by far the best Gyro I've ever had, for the best price, too. I tell all my friends about this jem of an eatery. You'd never know such amazing things could come out of a gas station.
Don't be fooled by the surrounding gas station, these guys know their gyros. Depending on the order size and how busy they are it might take some time for food to be ready, but I think that's expected.
A very affordable, lovely lunch! Not as fast as fast food though, so if you're on your lunch break, best order ahead. Easy to eat vegan with the kinds of modifications a vegan is used to making, but note that the tabouli comes with feta by default, so you'll have to order it without that. The hummus, falafel, and tabouli taste great! Will be going back.
I love this place and can't recommend it enough! Every time I come I get the shawarma sandwich with a little extra mayo and it hits the spot every time. Prices are also very good. I had a great conversation last time I went in with the owners and they wanted to make sure everything was to my liking. He also let me know that everything is made from scratch and that the meat is never frozen. I'll definitely be returning as it has quickly become one of my go to spots.
The pictures of this place do not do it justice. It's very clean and neatly organized. The staff is quick, friendly, and just plain sweet. And the food....omg. I've had many shawarmas...I made an audible noise of delight with nearly every bite. And the gyro meat! So tender and delicious. Many places over spice, this was perfect. Such a happy find.
I placed an order online & when I arrive to pick it up, I was surprised that the restaurant was in the gas station. Any who, the service was cool & the food was ok. The picture is gyro plate, veg, hummus with side of double meat. UPDATE: Make a long story short. I mistakenly chose pick up instead of delivery when I ordered thru Uber Eats so I called the restaurant to tell them that Uber can’t fix it & if there was any way that they could deliver & unfortunately they said no. I said well, just cancel the drink & I’ll ride my bike to pick it up & hung up the phone. Immediately I get a call back from them saying that they will deliver it to me with no (?)charge! I tried to tip the driver a generous tip but he would not accept it..That was GREAT service.
Used to be great now I'm not so sure, ordered a gyro platter and a side order of hummus, got a gyro sandwich and my side but not the platter (missing salad, more hummus and a piece of pita bread). The mix up would have been ok but the meat was slimy and had no texture like it was old ended up just eating the hummus and throwing the sandwich away. Service was slow.
Gyro was decent good flavor but honestly wish it was cut in strips and not chopped the chunks took away from the sandwich. I got the falafel and Dolmas to go, I was not happy when I got home to find the falafel very burnt and dry, the dolmas had great flavor but very mushy inside. RAHILA was amazing and very sweet! Honestly I'd go back for the gyro and the amazing service.
I’m honestly pretty disappointed with the service the most. I used to come here regularly for years and I loved the prices and the food. I usually get the gyro or shawarma sandwiches. However, they are light with the tzatziki on the sandwiches and it tends be dry sometimes. Lately, for the past three visits, every time I ask for hot sauce or the tzatziki sauce, I get the most unpleasant faces and stingiest attitudes! I just don’t understand! Nowhere on the menu or anywhere does it say it costs extra and it honestly puts a bad taste on the entire experience. The food is amazing, but the stinginess over something so small is crazy to me.
All right. So I had a shawarma sandwich which was barely even a handful... I don't know where people are getting these generous portions but it's not here. Also, the sandwich did not come with fries or a drink or anything for 10 bucks. Furthermore, there was a kalamata olive in my sandwich which I usually enjoy. What I did not enjoy was almost cracking my tooth open on the pit that they failed to remove. Overall I have to say there are much better places for the same price and I will not be stopping here again for food.
I have been eating at Papu’s and loving it for many years. Have brought many friends and family there for their first times. While the gyro meat is not as good as it used to be, it’s still very good and the chicken shawarma is the best in town. Why 2 stars? They have a great hot sauce that I have been adding to my sandwiches - just a little thimble of it. Today, I was told (for the first time ever) that this thimble of hot sauce would cost me a dollar. ?? On principal, I won’t do it. And that’s how my hunt for a different place started.
This is a little hidden gem. The food is not bad, especially when considering it is inside a gas station. Now, the gyro flavor was amazing, but texturally it was moderately unpleasant. The size of the chunks were a bit large and made it a bit difficult to eat. In regards to the Curry Chicken, it was unfortunately changed from the original recipe. It is no longer yellow rice but now white rice which left plenty to be desired. I will try again to see if it is better next time
Went there today. Got home, meat was dry,not seasoned as usual. Very disappointed. Had recommended to friends. Never again.
Rude workers, incredibly nasty food at high prices. Make the trip to Never on Sunday, this place is a joke.
A restaurant that seems to have completed the life cycle of a local favorite. When I first went here seven or eight years ago I remember it being a charming experience. It was family run and you could see the owner right there in the kitchen. You knew he was the owner from the newspaper clippings hung on the wall by the counter touting the restaurant’s beloved status. The interior was a nostalgic throwback and you could see the food prepared right in front of you. In a gas station. It was fun. But little by little Papu’s has worn out its charm. The prices crept up, but the food got worse. The staff I recognized slowly disappeared, orders got lost, waiting time went up, and food got cold. But that’s the price you pay to support local family owned business I thought. So I kept going. Until today. When I called in my order only for it to get lost. When I got to the restaurant only to wait 25 minutes after ordering again. When I told the staff four times what I had ordered and watched as two other people who came in after me were served. When I finally left and was followed to my car by two staff members where they forcibly held the door to my car open and berated me. The problem? They wanted to be paid. The other problem? I had already paid. 25 minutes earlier. I had paid the same staff member who handed me my food eventually. The same one who presumably lost my order. Who asked repeatedly what I had ordered. And now the owner from the newspaper clipping had followed me to my car and is threatening me. Papu’s is like that newspaper clipping which is still on the wall, yellowed and faded. It’s also no longer a small local family owned business. It’s now a franchise with multiple locations. So I might as well go to Meddys. The cost of a Hummus Stacked Bowl there is $12.99. The cost at Papu’s? $10.99 and disappointment at what it has become.
