Quick service and good portions for the price. The beef noodle soup was pretty light and gave a big portion for only $7.75. Would especially recommend to college students who are getting tired of campus food.
Amazing food and great price. Legit the best food choice for quality and quantity on campus. Need to order ahead, you can order online and pay at the venue making it's every easier order. Also get their hot sauce. It's worth it
Busiest from 12 AM-2 PM so call ahead for best service. Cooking can take up to 15 minutes. I almost always get the chicken katsu platter. Some items have the same name but come with curry-make sure you clarify your order. Make sure you keep your receipt. Tables and booths are plentiful but fill up quickly. The eatery offers Japanese drinks, sushi, and non-dairy ice cream to complement hearty dishes. Vegetarian options available. It is an extremely popular place on campus and stays open during spring break.
This is the best place to eat on University at Buffalo North Campus! I like their beef teriyaki bento box and their dumplings, but I feel like they put too much sauce on their beef. Other than that, I like their free hot tea.
Awesome food!! Bubble and ice cream really hit the spot on a hot day. Just phenomenal! They could really use a fan or some a/c in there though, the customers and employees were roasting when it was crowded.
Spicy chicken, spicy pork rice bowl and any taktsu curry rice are all pretty good. The serving is huge. For the price they offer, overall experience is very good.
I often visit to have rice bowl and considering the price, it's fairy decent. If you like spicy food, you should try spicy pork rice bowl.
Great price. It is more Chinese some people say but I like it anyway. Chicken katsu curry was my favorite.
Definitely go to dancing chopsticks. The foods are worth with the price😘😘😘, and the people work here are very nice and friendly compared to young chow!!!Some girls in young chow are really mean!Omg, that disgusted me😡😡😡!
Lots of food options here. I got the Chicken Thai Fried Rice. The quantity is a lot, so it was enough to last me 2 meals. I think it could use more seasoning or sauce because it was a little bland. My friend got a bento box and a boba and he liked both.
One of the only places you should go on campus for food. Quality and quantity here never lacks. They’ll load up your box with fresh and hot food.
My partner and I absolutely love getting the bento boxes from here. The other food is also really good. But the bento boxes are our favorite. I've tried the beef , chicken, and pork from there and they season them so well. I've been going here for the last 6-7 years and have yet to be disappointed. If you get a bento box, order the fried dumplings. Their dumpling sauce is also really good. They also have a very diverse selection of beverages and boba tea. Featured in the photos of my recent meal: fried dumplings, rice, small side salad, chicken teriyaki, pineapple boba drink, and a unique flavored green tea.
One of the best restaurants on UB's Campus. Extremely reasonable for the quality and quantity you will get. If I buy, say, Chicken Thai Fried Rice, that is 2 meals for me! The taste is amazing and the food is well-seasoned unlike other Asian food joints on-campus. Food feels fresh too. The place is one of the very few which are open all days of the week so a go-to place for a weekend worker like me.
Great service huge servings and food is great. Got the Tokyo chicken bento box with the chicken dumplings which were amazing with the sauce on the side. For only 13 bucks definitely worth the price.
Very good high quality food. Very reasonable pricing. Large portions. I recommend a teriyaki platter. This place always comes in clutch.
Food is super tasty , hot, and a good portion. Great prices and have been coming here for 13 +years with the same quality!

Our food was made with care, shrimp fried rice was great, a beef stew was extra spicy in addition very great flavor. I wished it was less spicy.
Love it here I come twice a week well I’m working on campus. Wish they would bring the eggs back though lol
I adore the food at this restaurant. I make it a habit to try to go at least once a week for a meal, well priced and good portions. Way healthier than a burger place around just a few bucks more is 100% worth it.
Endless Options and choices. I Recommend Getting Spicy Beef Stew With Udon if You are Feeling Spicy. Ordering Congee with Pork for Rainy or Cold Days. And I also Enjoy the Spare Ribs With Rice Dish! As Long as you know what you like before entering this Place is a Staple and their Bubble Tea is Really Affordable!

It provides a wide variety of Asian food, with reasonable price regarding the amount of food per serving, good choice if you eat a lot. I'll give five stars if their rice is better.
Pretty good value for money, the food is really tasty too! I just sometimes wish they had more veggies in their curries.
Some of the best food on campus. Pretty good portions and quality food and drinks. Also the free tea is actually very good.
You get a lot of food for a good price. They have Japanese beverages as options which I enjoy. I can't attest to the healthiness of the food!
Food's pretty good here and pricing is fair in my opinion.
Got the chicken katsu bento box with dumplings on the side and everything was pretty good! Only thing is that I originally wanted a california roll on the side but the cashier said that they were out of sushi which was disappointing but I did order near closing time. Didn’t have to wait that long to get my food though. Would definitely get food here again.
Came here with my siblings and it's a LOT of food for the price 1 Bento box could have been split between 2 other people. We loved everything but the udon noodles were lacking a bit of flavor and the Boba we got had a pearl or 2 that were uncooked. Their Boba is super cheap for how much you get though! (At least compared to what we usually get from around Riverside)
Came here on a Saturday night for a quick dinner with a few friends. Overall, Dancing Chopsticks is a decent Chinese/Japanese restaurant. I tried a meat sampler, which had a choice of two meats (several beef, pork, chicken options cooked as katsus or with teriyaki sauce). I ordered a Tokyo Chicken and a Pork Katsu, which came out to be a little under $9. The food came pretty quickly, in a hefty square styrofoam takeout box. The meats rested on top of a large portion of white rice, taking up half of the box. The rest of the box included a lettuce salad (not too sure what the dressing was) and corn in another light, white sauce. The Food: I would have liked the Tokyo chicken more if the batter was crispier. It did hit my craving of an Orange Chicken variant, although this chicken was a little tangier than a General Tso's or Sesame chicken variation. As for the pork katsu, the breading was quite thick, making it dense. Most of it was crispy still, other than the portions that had some tonkatsu sauce drizzled onto it. I ended up taking some of their house sauce (which tastes heavily of gochujang) and dipping the katsu into that. The rice sufficed, I didn't detect any partially cooked hard grains. The salad and corn seemed to be the least memorable parts, I ate them hoping for some trace nutrients to be added to my meal. Additional amenities: They offer self serve hot tea, their house sauce and bottles of Sriracha. Seating in the restaurant is also quite spacious. I did not try any other drinks there, though they have numerous refrigerated drinks and also bubble milk teas. If I study around UB more, I'll probably end up trying more things on their menu like a noodle soup, yaki soba or their rice bowls. Worth a shot for a quick meal!

I go there for the ramen usually and is only mediocre. This place is the most likely to be empty on a school day noon and that should tell you about its popularity. If you need Asian food the Korean place next door is better tasting. If you need sushi the student union had better service. But if you are ever in the mood for some change and would like to try from a large menu, this is not a bad choice.
Large serving sizes, fast service, the food has a not-so-good after taste suggestive of highly processed fast-food. The service could be better. For a college student, it has a lot of food that keeps you full for cheap though.
The chicken was questionable... if you know what I mean you know what I mean. Lots of what I call "weird pieces". BUT... The dumplings were GREAT. They are fried, and they are delicious.
The food is okay although I mainly go there just for the sushi and bubble tea. For my bubble tea, i normally order taro bubble tea and I've always had to tell them to ADD MORE taro powder and put LESS ice. It depends on who is making the bubble tea. The last bubble tea i ordered was made by the short girl who added so little taro powder and added a large amount of ice which made the tea taste like water. -_- I had to tell her the next day i ordered bubble tea to add more taro powder and less ice and she looked annoyed. That's also another downside. The staff is kind of rude to customers who doesn't have an Asian background, and by Asian background i mean, Japan, S. Korea, or China. The staff also speaks to each other in their language about customers who don't speak or understand the language. And they would end up laughing. I know this because its happened to me. All in all, I would only visit this place again if I'm short on cash and in need of bubble tea otherwise I'd be at Kung Fu Tea :)
Though I still enjoy the food here in general, it's gone down in quality over the years. Seems they're going for speed over quality to meet a growing demand for Japanese food.
The quality of the food at Dancing Chopsticks is sometimes really good and other times passable. You never know what to expect when you set foot here. But today I certainly wasn't expecting a few pieces of plastic in my order of Pork Katsu Curry Rice. I was halfway done with it before I bit on something hard. I thought it was bone at first, but they were really sharp plastic pieces (pictured). I wasn't craving any plastic for lunch, so I quickly lost my appetite. Their quality has noticeably gone down since a few years ago, and this incident is unfortunately going to make me stop going here anymore. If you decide to go here, make sure to thoroughly chew your food.
Chicken katsu was overcooked and dry. Fried gyoza was OK, a bit stale. Beef teriyaki tasted funky, or the teri sauce is wack. Katsu is OK if you need something ASAP. Not the best quality.

Food is okay. Stars removed for customer service. While we sat and started to eat, they told us we couldn’t sit down to eat the food that WE PAID FOR at this place. It wasn’t even closing time -there was a few hours left and already “they cleaned up” apparently. Others were sitting down and eating also smh. So Customer service made my experience very negative….
Well...I graduated years ago but when I was still at UB, this was the place I always went after class. But I visited there a few days ago, I kinda regretted. The portion is good but the food and service not so much. I ordered Pork Yaki Udon -- the Pork was so dry and flavorless and there were so many cabbage shreds hardly any udon... oh my god... it was painful to finish the whole dish. And there's no Welcome or Thank you or Goodbye at any point during my stay. I was like... NEVER AGAIN
I love the food. But, one day I came in to order bubble tea. I stood there happy and waiting to drink my tea. The big tall asian girl hands me the tea and than tells me that she ran out of straws. I asked her, so how can I drink the tea without a straw? Straws are required to drink that kind of tea. She says, "maybe ask the other restaurant" or "IDK". I had to lie and convince another Japanese restaurant which was closed just to get a straw. She should have known she ran out of straws ahead of time. But, I see she didn't hesitate to take my money.
Serving was large but much was burnt/overcooked. Meat with breading was 25% meat, 75% breading. Beef was rubbery, plenty of rice. Would not order from again.
For $12, it’s okay, not too bad for the price — but I’d give it 3/10. Everything was cold. The chicken katsu had a weird smell and no flavor at all. The rice was okay, but it was also too cold, so I had to ask the front desk to heat it up. I’m glad I asked for the curry on the side. They said it’s Japanese curry, but it doesn’t taste like Japanese curry at all. The texture was very strange, almost like jelly, and I didn’t like the taste. It could be much better for a $12 meal :)

Got chicken katsu, ate it multiple times from this place, this time it tasted horrible, told them it tasted very bad, nothing like before, and asked if they can replace the product or refund, but they said it's not possible, I don't want that low quality food, so told them to keep it and enjoy, they took zero responsibility of the bad quality food, never going again after eating there for like 10 times so far, so frustrated..
Hated it! Worst soup I've had in years! Why did they put Lettuce in my soup?!?!? Also the beef was terrible. Never coming here again
Doesn’t even deserve one star. Ordered chicken Katsu via door dash. Worst chicken katsu I have ever had in my life. Zero spice, not even salt was present. Forget that it tastes like cardboard , the chicken smells - must be stale and they just fried it. salad looks old and gross too. Threw away the whole thing after 2 bites and I hope I don’t get sick from it
Had delivered. Shrimp tempura—what a joke. Every piece was way overcooked. Shrimp rubbery. Breading not like tempura batter at all—just a very thick coating of bread crumbs. Would give them 0 stars if that were an available choice. Don’t go here for authentic Japanese food.

Everything was very disappointing. We got two Bento boxes delivered and a side of tokyo chicken Both our entrees were strange in color. The chicken terriaki was a grey brown, and the katsu calamari was dark brown, and obviously overcooked in old oil. Ive had both at other restaurants and they never tasted like this. The calamari was literally too tough to chew. The tokyo chicken was also overcooked, tough and mostly breading. Both types of dumplings were bad. The gyoza style ones were stale and tough. The steamed dumpling were tasteless mush. Even the rice tasted stale. I really feel everything they serve was old, stale or freezer burned. Normally I might give a place the benefit of the doubt, but not a single item was done well
I've been going to Dancing Chopsticks for years, and it's always only been relevant because of the affordability of their food. The quality? Not so much. Just earlier this year, my friend and I bought sushi from them at night when they have their BOGO discount on sushi. My friend's sushi, I kid you not, smelled like urine. They ate it because they were hungry, but when they finally commented on it, I smelled it myself & was disgusted. And no, sushi should NOT smell like that just because it's been out for a couple hours. The last straw finally came recently, when I ordered their chicken thai fried rice for dinner. I went to sleep a few hours after eating half, and I woke up feeling intense stomach pain - I vomited AND had diarrhea. As a college student, you usually get your fair share of food poisoning cases. However, the only other time this has happened to me is when I ate something that was contaminated with mold at home, and it concerns me that Dancing Chopsticks's food safety must be on that severe of a level (not saying that they have mold in their kitchen). I'm extremely disappointed and their food simply wasn't that good to begin with, so I will never be going back. There's so many better options & it's not worth getting sick during exams week. Just go to AK or Poke Factory or even Young Chow right next door.
