A M A Z I N G experience from start to finish. From the lady in reception, to the gentleman who brought us to our tables, to Eleonora and co., all perfect! Kudos to the chefs and kitchen staff, the food were all delectable and lip smackingly decadent. I actually was hesitant to come because I was afraid of "sweets" but I am glad I came anyway! The cucumber, dill and cream cheese sandwich was delicious, as simple as it may sound. The tea selection was endless. I would recommend the Bespoke Licorice Tea and Organic Rosebuds. Both lovely and uplifting. Thank you all for this unforgettable afternoon tea experience. Worth the time, calories and every penny spent 🥰 - a happy afternoon tea lover.
Wonderful experience for our first proper London tea with our four boys. They catered to the children (ages 5-11) and made it a brilliant time. Great start with a glass of champagne, then a tower of sandwiches, scones, jam and cakes served with our tea. Everything was very good, and perfect before our visit to the theatre.
We came for the lovely afternoon tea 🍵. The staff were very attentive . The tea had gluten free options that one of us needed and because the staff had forgotten about it they brought an extra tray for us. At the end the offer 50 g of sweeties to take with you . The food is amazing and you have to try the different flavours of tea
Had an amazing afternoon tea today with our daughter who has additional needs. From the doorman to the concierge to the amazing staff in the afternoon tea nothing was much trouble for them all, they all gave a 5 star service and made the whole experience very relaxed. Thank you very much for your time, and amazing efforts for making it very enjoyable!!!
We thoroughly enjoyed ALL of our afternoon tea experiences in London. But out of them all, this was our favorite. All of the sweets, not only are glamorous but had excellent flavor & just seemed to pop out in their own special way! The finger sandwiches & scones were excellent as well....& yes, the cola fizzy cake really tasted like Coke. ALL personnel had excellent composure & really held it down professionally as admittedly we weren't the easiest party to accommodate (hangry Mom, dropped/shattered shot glass). They were super kind with our 3 & 7 year olds all the way through the end including their candy 🍭 to go. I had to tip them extra on top of the 10% included. Finally, many thanks to previous reviews re: tea selection. You get a large amount. I would avoid white, green, any tea that goes bitter with extended steeping. A black or assam tea would make great selections. If/when in London, I'd def make it a point to return here!
Absolutely amazed by the exceptional service and attention received. An absolutely delightful, delicious, fabulous afternoon tea experience at the beautiful conservatory to celebrate our friends upcoming wedding. Impeccable service, delicious food, wonderful preparations, and the little treats before, throughout and after really made for a different, unique stay. It was the right choice for us and will be visiting again. Highly recommended!
I was surprised with afternoon tea here for my significant birthday from my sisters. The location in the heart of London is fantastic for a lovely decedent treat. The hotel is a hidden gem. The staff were polite and unobtrusive, but did check on us regularly to ask if we wanted replacements for empty plates and bottomless loose leaf, fruit or flowering tea. The food was very tasty, with different flavoured bread, some soft and fresh scones with fresh made jam and cream. The highlight was of course the pastries and chocolate, all sweetshop inspired mini cakes and pastries. The peanut butter cup and cherry cheesecake are delicious. The staff sang happy birthday with a small cupcake. A complimentary small bag of pick and mix is offered at the end. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Arrived at 3:00 PM for New Year’s eve special tea and we were not disappointed. Friendly staff and hostess sat us right away and we were doted on for the entire service. We were offered a nice selection of teas that were all served professionally in the English fashion. Teas were accompanied by the customary sandwiches, scones and pastries and were more than satisfactory. We were served champagne but were charged for additional glasses which seemed a little cheesy especially on New Year’s eve and hefty overall prices. This was my only complaint and we had a wonderful time in an incredibly beautiful setting.
I had the pleasure of enjoying the Halal Afternoon Tea at The Chesterfield Mayfair, and it was truly an experience to remember. Tucked away in the heart of Mayfair, The Chesterfield is a charming gem that blends classic British elegance with warm hospitality. The décor is timeless, think plush armchairs, crisp linens, and vintage tea sets, creating the perfect setting for a relaxed yet luxurious afternoon. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth. A special thank you to Tamara and Alexa, who delivered outstanding service throughout. They were attentive, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable, ensuring our every need was met and that our halal dietary preferences were fully catered for without compromising on flavour or variety. The Halal Afternoon Tea itself was exquisite. We started with a beautifully arranged selection of savoury finger sandwiches, each one fresh and flavourful. The warm scones, both plain and fruit, were perfectly baked and served with generous helpings of clotted cream and strawberry preserve. The real stars, however, were the delicate pastries and sweet treats. From rich chocolate delights to elegant fruit-based creations, every piece was immaculately presented and a joy to eat. The tea menu offered a wonderful variety, with something to suit every palate, served in charming mismatched china that added to the experience. And don’t forget, before you leave, be sure to visit the Sweetie Trolley! It’s a delightful touch that brings out your inner child, offering a selection of nostalgic treats to take home. It’s the perfect way to end your visit on a sweet note. It’s rare to find a halal afternoon tea experience that feels this special and inclusive. The Chesterfield Mayfair not only delivers on quality and service but goes above and beyond to create a memorable, heartwarming experience. Highly recommended and I’ll definitely be returning!
Had the absolute best time here for my birthday and would more than love to go back again, hopefully sooner than later! Wanted to give Jade and Alexa a shoutout here, they were so lovely and I am so grateful to them for making this experience so special! Especially want to thank Jade again, I absolutely loved her and all her recommendations were spot-on I have to say haha, overall had a great day and I would really recommend this afternoon tea for anyone visiting London! (P.S. all dietary restrictions are accommodated which is a huge plus as well <3)
This is my only afternoon tea experience, so nothing to compare it to, but we loved it. It was our wedding anniversary and our daughter had a birthday two days prior. We got two complimentary cupcakes and our daughter got a teddy bear she named "Chester". We enjoyed our sandwiches and tea, which we were able to order more of whatever we wanted. We ended up ordering more sandwiches which was a bad idea because then we were too full to enjoy all the sweets but we tried to take a taste of everything! The scones were tasty, although I had heard British scones were less sweet than American scones and these were pretty sweet. We each tasted at least 2 or 3 teas (which was an issue later in the day with the lack of public toilets as we walked around the city!). We each got a couple scoops from the candy trolley which was a fun treat to bring home. Our servers were fantastic and so kind.
My sister and I visited this bank holiday for a birthday afternoon tea and it was delightful. From the hilarious and lovely man at the front door to our incredibly attentive main server Alexa, everyone was so friendly to us, it made the whole sweet shop experience all the sweeter. We enjoyed the selection of sandwiches, especially the unique chicken filled delights. The drumstick macaron was also a particular favourite. I hadn’t expected receiving a takeaway of a bag of sweets at the end. It was a highlight talking with Alexa at the end and hearing about her training at this hotel, and us telling her about how those sweets used to cost a half penny in out childhood (showing our age!). This experience is recommended for everyone, but especially those of us who grew up in the 70s and 80s who yearn for a bit of nostalgia.
Such a cozy and fun afternoon tea. The lemonade with dry ice is a fun starter. The refills are great value but the star are the sandwiches and tea. Dancing dragon tea is worth getting.
We came here for a family event - 6 adults and a 1 year old - and it was a fantastic experience which we will all remember. My thanks to the staff who were very helpful and most attentive; our 1 yr old was made very welcome and loved it. All courses of the afternoon tea were great - sandwiches, scones, cakes (starting with the dry ice lemonade), and the tea choice is marvellous (try the chocolate tea). Is it cheap?: no , but its worth it. Well done all.
This place is seriously good at afternoon tea. Having a unique theme is such a good way to separate from the thousands of other hotels that do this. We were lucky enough to go during the Original Sweetshop theme, and we got a complementary pick n mix at the end. The hotel, food, tea, service & decor was all sublime. Try the chocolate black tea for something different ☕️
Great service and very friendly staff. English afternoon tea for £75 pp, with unlimited refill of food and tea, coffee or hot chocolate. We were greeted with welcome drinks and left with a full bag of free sweets! Tea is great and scones are amazing! An honest review of rest of the food pls see picture. Desserts are overly sweet but that’s just personal taste + most sweets in the UK are very, very sweet to Asian standards. Overall would highly recommend for a wonderful experience.
Charming service and delicious sweet inspired treats. The afternoon tea includes refills and you get to take home any goodies you can't quite finish. The apple sour white chocolate bomb and the roast chicken sandwich were mouthwatering.
Serkan and I attended yesterday and were taken care of by Eleonora and co. Eleonora went above and beyond and was an absolutely delight. We had an amazing experience and would highly recommend to anyone visiting!
We were treated so well here. I've been to pretty much all the big hotels for tea and this place despite smaller, seems to really know what they are doing. Perfect for a treat for kids.
Lovely Sweet themed Afternoon Tea. With treats to take home. Very attentive staff and pretty setting. Delicious teas to choose from and Halal option available.
Excellent food (the scones, wow!) and friendly service (especially Alfie!). I loved the ambiance and the decor is beautiful.
We brought the girls to high tea here and had a very nice experience. The sandwiches were good, the tea was delicious and Jade, our hostess, was amazing. They let the girls go and pick out their own free bag of candy before leaving also. Highly recommended.
A wonderful experience at this particular afternoon tea, lovely, friendly, attentive, and welcoming staff from the hotel staff and the waitresses. You could have refills in everything again from the afternoon tea. Nice different selection of tea's although could only choose three from the menu. You can take the food you left in a nice posh box if you decide to do that. Nice touch at the end with choosing your own 'pick and mix' although dissapointing you can only choose three sweets out of the whole cart although they do fill the bag up!. Highly recommend, would go back.
This cozy restaurant was recommended by our friends. Definitely it lived up our expectations. The atmospheric, immersed in greenery interiors made our afternoon tea more than romantic and fabulous. We’ve tasted a great range of sweets and cakes which are melted in our mouths, served with fragrant tea on our choice. Moreover I want to mention the exceptional staff attitude. With their sincere smiles and attention, they made us to fill welcomed and special. Definitely would recommend Chesterfield Mayfair for couples or big families. Thank you guys, for amazing afternoon time, you deserve more than 5 stars.
This was my third afternoon tea at The Chesterfield Hotel. Every time has been a thorough delight. I love the spacious setting and the way you have the room and privacy to indulge with your fellow guests. The food and drink is always a high quality treat, and the ambiance was so relaxing too. The staff have always been a delight. But on this occasion I'd like to highlight just how wonderful Carmen was. She made our visit extra special, for me, my boyfriend and my niece. She was delightful and I hope you'll share our feedback that she elevated a five-star experience to a six! Thank you so much to all of the team at The Chesterfield, from the welcoming doormen and reception staff, all the way through to our servers and the team in the kitchen. We'll definitely be back.
Slavenia in the restaurant was amazing! She provides the best service in London. Order the fish and chicken noodle soup. It’s so good. Impeccable service by slavenia
I recently enjoyed afternoon tea at The Chesterfield Mayfair, and it was a delightful experience! The selection of teas was impressive, and the assortment of sandwiches, scones, and pastries was both beautiful and delicious. The elegant setting and attentive service made it even more special. A perfect spot for a relaxing afternoon - highly recommend!
We had a wonderful experience at the Chesterfield having afternoon tea. The sandwiches were lovely and fresh; the scones were so fluffy and light, and complimented beautifully by the clotted cream and homemade strawberry jam, and the selection of cakes was equally lovely. The service was impeccable, from start to finish, and nothing was too much trouble. We were offered multiple top ups of anything we wanted food related within the fixed price, and they also catered brilliantly for our fussy daughter that only likes plain sandwiches. The tea selection and gorgeous glass of bubbly was the finishing touch. You get to chose some sweets from the sweet shop cart before you leave, which is a lovely touch and great for the little (and big) kids. One off the bucket list for my 50th birthday, and I'm really pleased we chose the Chesterfield, thank you!
Incredible experience start to finish. The food was good, and they were really happy to bring more of anything which was great but it was the team that made it such a memorable experience. Every single colleague we encountered from the team on the front door through to the dining team were all brilliant. 10 out of 10 customer service! Would absolutely recommend! The sweet bag on exit was a great touch for the kids!
Excellent and attentive service from all staff from the doorman to the waiters. The scones, cakes and sandwiches were all delicious (highly recommend the smoked salmon on beetroot bread and chicken sandwiches encased in an almond paste on the outside). There was a wide selection of teas (including fruit infusions for children). Very child friendly. Not cheap but well worth it for a special treat. Highly recommend.
A good afternoon tea. Service was really attentive. Teas and sandwiches were topped up. Sandwiches had a variety of different breads which mixed it up a bit. A good selection of desserts which weren't too sweet. Scones however didn't taste fresh - they were very dry and crumbly but everything else was spot on. A nice touch with the pick n mix from the sweet trolley to take away - childhood memories!
We went for afternoon tea. You can choose from a variety of teas as many as you like. The food was tasty without anything being extraordinary. It's the first time I went for afternoon tea so I don't have a comparison. Overall the tea, the food and the service was great. You can also refill as much as you like.
My friend and I had a wonderful time! The service was extremely polished, the food and tea was wonderful. We were the last booking for tea and we had been looking forward to the experience all day. When you book you can request a vegetarian option which is perfect, great selection of sandwiches. Our favorite was the sundried tomato and goat cheese. One thing to keep in mind is that the pots of tea hold about 5 cup's worth, and had I known I would have not selected the lapsang Souchong as it gains more and more strength as it steps, and I could not drink quickly enough, or even finish the last cup. What I was hoping for was a small pot of tea to be able to try different types of tea to enjoy pairing with the flavors of the food. Another unfortunate aspect of the experience was that our server disappeared and never came back. We had to flag two other servers from a different part of the dining room and even then it was hard to get anyone to notice when we were ready to pay it needed something. When we were first seated we were offered extra of anything, and we did want an additional sun-dried tomato goat cheese sandwich, but as we couldn't find anyone to help we did not receive it. I understand it was an odd time of day and we were the only ones in that particular part, but many times servers walked past us to go to the bar or back to the dining room. I would have expected better in this aspect from this hotel, but I would not be deterred from returning since the food was good. Overall it was a very nice evening out, but to give 5 stars I would like more attentive service.
The afternoon tea experience was overall not good enough to come back. It does have a great selection of finger sandwiches and teas. The sweets are a bit less satisfying in terms of flavor but still quite acceptable. The chocolate scone is to avoid at all costs, it is horrendous. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, especially Tamara, who made sure we were never out of something to eat or drink. The problem here is the chairs and tables. They are too small and the tabletop does get very crowded leaving everything very tight. The fact that the chairs lack armrests is atrocious. They will leave you will a sore back and neck, ruining most of the experience. There was also a leak on the wall, which makes you question the maintenance of the place. Great tea flavors, great service. Awfully painful seating... and scones.
I regret that despite ordering two afternoon tea sets costing over £170, we were only given one set to share, with portions of butter, jam, and pastries intended for a single person. Meanwhile, the neighboring table received two full sets for the same price. That said, I appreciate the staff’s kindness and the complimentary sweets offered at the end. Both the sandwiches and pastries were average except one sandwich. Given the price, there are far better options available elsewhere.
An ok tea experience. Sandwiches, sweets, tea options are fine but the service is lacking. The staff is friendly but not very attentive. Even though the room was mostly empty we were seated in an area not very visible to the staff (was the designated area for the afternoon tea). Took a few minutes each time we want to get a sandwich or tea. It really took away from the experience. You do get a take away box to take any of the items you didn’t finish.
Came for Christmas afternoon tea on a Sunday evening. Made a reservation ahead of time. Overall, it was decent and had good Christmas spirit. Service was just okay. Atmosphere: Nice hotel, small but quaint lobby with a large, real Christmas tree. The tea area was large, we got a nice table in the back corner by the bar and in the evening the pianist came out and it was really lovely. The food: Finger sandwiches were just okay. The scones were a bit dry, I didn’t even eat the chocolate scone. The sweets were waaaaay too sweet and some of them hard to share. Tea selection was decent but we only got one pot each, they didn’t come back around to ask if we wanted another tea. We also ordered a separate order of mulled wine that was yummy but took a long time to come out - makes sense given the whole production (photo below). They also give a takeaway candy bag from a candy bar at the end. The service: Wait staff was nice but they never really checked on us. We ended up being the last to leave as we were talking but we probably would’ve left earlier had they come to check on us. Spent: Bill was over £200 which felt expensive.
Was very pleasant until I discovered a green/mouldy looking item inside a scone. When I shown the manager she took it away to get a some advice. On her return she explained it couldn't be mould as the scones where fresh. That was the limit of her service, as you can imagine that ended our expensive afternoon tea session. We paid in full!!! No matter how popular somewhere is without good customer service you will be left feeling....... not paticularly good.
I had very high expectations for this Christmas afternoon tea, as it was something I had been looking forward to for months. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. The service was inattentive throughout; we repeatedly had to try to catch staff members’ attention whenever we needed anything. The scones were particularly poor & dry, tasting as though they were pre-packaged rather than freshly made. The desserts were overly sweet, with flavours that blended together rather than offering any distinct taste. Given the price of £75.00 per person, I was genuinely shocked by the overall quality. For that cost, I expected a far higher standard, and I left feeling very disappointed and disheartened by the experience. The only positive note I can share is that the entrance staff at the main hotel were very welcoming and friendly.
The atmosphere is amazing, service and waiters were great. We went for afternoon tea The food wasn't as I expected giving the price!!! They serve Halal menu which is good, but the options wasn't tasty we couldn't finish half of our plates ! I was a little bit disappointed ☹️
Afternoon Tea Review I recently had the vegan afternoon tea here, and unfortunately, it was a huge letdown. To start, the sandwiches arrived on stale bread, and despite noting our dietary requirements in advance, the chefs initially presented us with ham and cheese sandwiches! My daughter then had to wait 15 minutes for a replacement plate of vegan sandwiches, which was frustratingly slow. The desserts were another disappointment—they were served cold and felt lifeless. One of the cakes was so thick and hard that it was truly inedible. The sweets overall were overrated and didn’t live up to their appearance. The chocolate-flavored tea was the only thing we genuinely enjoyed. What really saved this experience from being a complete disaster was Jade, the lovely lady who took care of us. She apologized sincerely and did her best to make up for the many issues, which we appreciated. But even with her kind help, the tea was undeniably overpriced, and the experience just didn’t deliver. For what we paid, this should have been much better. So disappointed and wouldn’t recommend.
A real let down for a 5* hotel. I will explain all the points as to why you should NOT book the afternoon tea. The food was SO disappointing and does not match the description on the menu - the sandwiches were lacklustre, the cheese and tomato one was very salty, the cream cheese and cucumber had no dill in it so it was very flavourless. The egg mayonnaise one had no seasoning so also lacked flavour. The grilled vegetables were just aubergine and courgette so just tasted of pesto. The chocolate scone and peanut butter cup was one of the only nice things that I enjoyed eating. Now the desserts look pretty, but again so disappointing. The drumstick macaron barely tasted of raspberry or anything like a drumstick sweet. The apple and pecan pie was stale! Dry as sand (see picture, I took it home for my sister to try and she said the same). The rhubarb and custard choux bun was also stale and tasted eggy so wasn't pleasant. The servers were lovely and polite, however, it wasn't busy when we visited on a Monday afternoon so there was no excuse for getting simple orders wrong twice. One of the servers came over to our table whilst my boyfriend had gone to the bathroom and asked if it was his birthday today, and I replied saying it's mine so she asked for my name and wrote it down on a little notepad. Despite waiting before they handed the bill, and after paying the bill (around 20mins), they forgot to bring out anything for my birthday. As we were leaving my boyfriend asked about this and they did apologise and hurriedly brought out the tiniest (and again stale) cupcake for me and said I can put it in the takeaway box. I also found a white hair in one of the sandwiches that I took for my sister to try as she's always been intrigued about the afternoon tea (see picture attached) which put her off completely. Overall, it is overpriced and overhyped. For a 5 star hotel, and the price point, it is absolutely not worth it. Compared to other afternoon teas where there is live music and tastier, better quality food, this one has let me down massively. I did send an email about all of this and the best they came back with is 'to extend a 25% reduction and complimentary glass of Champagne per person.' for my next visit which will never be happening.
The afternoon tea was gross. Way too sweet. The tea was ok, nothing special. I only like the ham and cheese sandwhich. The other sandwhiches (tuna, salmon, egg) were not agreeing with mt tastebuds. If this was my first afternoon tea experience it would have definitely tainted my perspective on it and id never do it again. Luckily i had 1 other afternoon tea experience (at four seasons) that was amazing so i know to just make sure to read the reviews on afternoon tea spots. Despite the bad food/sweets the staff were amazing and nice. I didn't really get much service (i wanted more tea but it wasnt an option i guess?) but the gentleman that closed out my tab was really nice and even walked me to the candy area to get some candy! Overall, overpriced, not good quality sweets, dessert or tea. Nice environment and friendly staff.
A disappointing afternoon at the Chesterfield Mayfair for the afternoon tea. The service was slow. When we arrived, we were ignored even though we had been seen by staff. We were seated for quite some time before staff acknowledged us. Food arrived slowly (and often required us to remind the staff) and had to ask for water 4 times before it arrived. I accidentally split a drink in front of the staff. They walked away and offered no assistance. The food was average. The banana loaf was stale. We ordered 3 vegetarian afternoon tea's, and only one plate of patisserie arrived. When you pay £86 including service, I don't think it's unreasonable that every member of the table is offered an individual afternoon tea instead of being expected to share. We were also asked if we were celebrating a special occasion. We were. If you ask the question, I'd expect it to be acknowledged, not then dismissed. To top it off, and this is no fault of the hotel or team there, we were then insulted by a racist comment from another customer. Thankfully, my friends are brilliant and we made the most of it.
