I would give the service 100 stars if I can. It’s the first time for both me and my friend at Blacklock. We ordered mushroom on toast, prime ribs, garlic bone marrow, and cheesecake. The steak here tastes good, and I also wanted to try the bone marrow for so long. The cheesecake is also good, with good cream and biscuits. We were given to-start and cheesecake for free. Piotr Z. who served us really gave us a good time here, who also explained the menu carefully and helped us on water frequently. It’s also a reasonable price, both the food and service really deserve the price! We would definitely go back!

My first time at Blacklock, and one word describes the Sunday Roast best. FANTASTIC! We went for the ""All In" roast, which gives you Roast Beef, Roast Lamb Leg , Roast pork and all the usual trimmings. Huge Yorkshire Puddings , seasonal vegetables, and unlimited gravy, which is the best I've ever had. This place is 100% worth the hype! A must try if you're a fan of Sunday Roast! 5 Stars!

Epic Sunday roast at Blacklock City! After a brilliant steak dinner at Covent Garden, we tried the City branch and went for the All In roast (beef rump, lamb leg, pork loin). Outstanding – meats tender and full of flavour from the coals, crispy duck fat roasties, huge Yorkshires, plenty of veg, and endless Blacklock gravy. Almost as good as mum’s! Left stuffed and happy. Service friendly and relaxed. Next time, torn between the roasts or sirloin special. Top-notch Sunday lunch – highly recommend!

Like the other locations this restaurant has a great vibe, busy city atmosphere and great food. The big cuts of meat are fantastic, perfectly cooked, and the sides and starters also great. The pre-chop bites are great to begin with. A good spot for a business lunch or team dinner, well located and speedy service.

We had Sunday roast and it was really good. We were late a bit than our reservation time but we could go inside almost right away. Of course it's Sunday roast so you can try this menu only for Sunday. I've visited England several times but I didn't have much interest in this dish so this was my first time to try. But I absolutely enjoyed it. I thought it's gonna bit touristic place since whenever I search london brunch then I saw every koreans visit here (and I saw so many koreans there haha) but honestly they are just good that's why so many people visit. Also staffs were very friendly and kind. 추천!!

- ‘all in’ sunday roast £28pp - white chocolate cheesecake £7.75 the ‘all in’ sunday roast may be pricey but it is SO worth it and a must try at least once. the meats were all cooked beautifully and so were the sides and the crackling was a nice addition. i always feel like places don’t give out enough gravy so the fact they do free refills here is heaven! even if you are full, try and squeeze in the white chocolate cheesecake bc it is divine especially paired with the berries. i’d say the atmosphere is very noisy and packed but it makes sense considering how many ppl want to visit! 🤭

Our server, Piotr, was absolutely amazing, he provided excellent service for us and was extremely charming which made our night lovely. Food was delicious and the cheesecake was light and decadent. Price is also decent considering the amount we ordered. Recommend to come here with at least 3-4 people to enjoy the array of dishes available.

This steakhouse serves a good variety of Sunday roast, the all in Sunday roast is an excellent choice for sharing. The portions are generous and everything was really tasty. The apple and rhubarb crumble was so delicious. The service is really efficient and they were all very friendly as well. It's a busy restaurant so is definitely recommended to book a table in advance. Highly recommended.

We went to the Blacklock for a Sunday roast and we weren’t disappointed It was four of us, we started with beef ribs which were first unnecessary given the size of the roast, they were quite tasty it was just a shame when we got them quite cold The roast itself was certainly the winner, the all-in option is quite generous and when it’s served it does look like a mountain of food. The portions are certainly generous and very tasty - we left all the plates clean. Personally I thought the beef portion was really good and the lamb and port were okay. Next time I’m going all beef. The price was also quite reasonable If you’re looking for a roast, I think the Blacklock is worth the visit

A lovely dining experience, from entering to paying. One of the spots in London that truly know service. Of course the food itself is great too! Unexpectedly the cheesecake was the star of the show for me, as well as the roast potatoes. Piotr was an amazing server throughout the meal and introduced the wines to me as well.

10/10 roast! Unlimited gravy, meat was cooked to perfection & veg was gorge. We had cheesecake for pudding and portion sizes were huge. Our waitress poppy / Polly was incredible, thank you for an amazing day!

It really is the best roast in London! Really really amazing food! Fantastic service, the guy serving us gave me cake for my birthday and a shot! Really really nice (sorry don’t remember your name!) Great atmosphere. Just fantastic all round! Definitely need to book a table well in advance for the roast! 10/10

Everything here was perfect. The food, service, atmosphere. Big thank you to Dermot for taking care of us on New year's, he was fantastic. The steak and cheesecake are to die for, absolutely unreal, highly recommend coming here.

We went for a Saturday lunch and we loved everything, everything delicious, our waiter sent us a complimentary mushroom toast which was delicious so in the end he also gave us a complimentary cheesecake, I don’t know if all the guests gets it but we really appreciate it! Great food, great cocktails and great service. Want to come back for their famous Sunday roast! Thank you

Food was bon appetit… the seating was perfect and the service was top tier. The fillet steak was incredible topping it up with chopsauce… has to be one of my favourite steak restaurants.

Absolutely love this place! The 650g porterhouse was just right for two to share. We also had the garlic bone marrow and fries, which went really well together. The Blacklock cheesecake is definitely worth trying.

G

Really good quality steak along with the crispiest chips you’ll ever find. We had the prime rib which was enough for two to share. The gravy sauces were absolutely brilliant. And we got the absolutely divine cheesecake to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday.

I uncontrollably cursed out loud when I dipped the yorkshire pudding in that gravy, which was spiritual. I would plan a trip to London to make sure you are there on a Sunday to eat the roast. Cool experience and great spot! And the cheesecake desert is another do not miss.

🥩🔥 Blacklock City – Steak & Chops Done Right 🔥🥩 Tonight I went to Blacklock City (Philpot Lane, London) and if you’re a true steak lover, this place is absolutely worth shouting about. 🥩 The star of the night was the Porterhouse (600g) – beautifully charred on the outside, perfectly pink inside, and carved for sharing. Alongside it, the Blacklock Rump Fillet delivered rich flavour and tenderness in every bite. 🦴 The Garlic Bone Marrow was indulgent, buttery, and seasoned to perfection – spread it over the beef or dip your chips, either way it’s a must-order. 🥗 The Broccoli & Walnut Salad brought crunch and freshness to balance out the richness, while the legendary Beef Dripping Chips (crispy, golden, and addictive) easily rank among the best in London. 🍷 Simple drinks, house sauces (that famous Chop Sauce), and hearty portions make Blacklock feel like the kind of place you’ll always come back to. 💸 The bill? Just under £150 for two people (with drinks, sides, and service) – for central London and this level of quality, that’s seriously good value. 📍 Blacklock has nailed the art of steakhouse dining without the pretentiousness – just incredible meat, perfect sides, and warm service. If you’re near Monument or Bank, this is a must-visit. Would I return? 100% — the Porterhouse alone is reason enough.

Went for the All In Sunday Roast at Blacklock City and it was absolutely outstanding. The meat was cooked to perfection, the roast potatoes were crispy and golden, the sauces were delicious, and everything arrived in great time. The place wasn’t overcrowded, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Special shout-out to our server, Lilli, who was incredibly friendly and attentive. Turns out we were both at the Oasis concert the night before... clearly, she has great taste in music and brought a lovely energy to the table. Highly recommended if you're after one of the best roasts in London — I'll definitely be back!

My friend and I had the Bone in Sirloin, Lamb Chops, Pork Loin, Sweet Potato, Chips and Gravy. For drinks, we had red wine Primitivo Domus (1 litre) and then I had a Larger Top. The food was amazing!! 😋 I absolutely loved the vibe and we had a great evening 😊 Excellent customer service from Piotr, George, Morgan and Georgia. In fact, every member of staff was very friendly 👌🏽 I will definitely recommend this place 👍🏽

Visited for a friend's 60th birthday on a Friday lunchtime. None of us had been before. First impressions when we arrived were it's very noisy. However the food is amazing. We went for 3 of their 'All In' sharers at £28 per person. What we got was a mountain of food, see the video. This also includes starters and a side each, we chose chips(very good!), sweet potato and broccoli & Walnuts. Chips we soo good we ordered more. There are a lot of tables in the venue quite tightly packed but each seats 4 people and are big enough that you can hear each other and fit in the food. The staff were very good, Darek who served us was very attentive. We will definitely be back.

Amazing experience for a birthday meal and Dermot our waiter was so friendly and helpful which created a great atmosphere. He had lots of advice on what to order and helped us decide on the size of the steak to suit our needs. 10/10 would go again!

Lovely Sunday roast at Blacklock-spot on from start to finish. But Piotr stole the show. He serves like a pro and his cheesecake deserves its own trophy🏆👏🍰 Unreal stuff Big thank you from his Taiwanese guests!

Definitely the best Sunday roast I’ve ever had! We went for lunch and ordered the "All In" roast for two. It was a generous mix of high-quality beef, lamb, and pork, extremely well-prepared and absolutely delicious. Even though we were completely stuffed after the roast, we still found room for the apple crumble. Great customer service. Dermot was our host and he was incredible - friendly, attentive, and made us feel truly welcome. Beyond my expectations. I’ll definitely be coming back! Bear in mind - you’ll need to book 2-3 months in advance

First Sunday Roast experience in London and this was perfect! Space was cozy and packed on a Sunday night, reservations definitely recommended. Went for the all-in roast which came stacked on a plate for sharing. Meat was perfectly seasoned and ended off with a nice scoop of dessert.

We had an exceptional meal at Korean BBQ House. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. The staff left us to grill our own meat which was lovely. The mojitos were delicious. Also we needed to pray, so the staff provided us with a prayer mat and let us pray downstairs which was so kind of them. I would highly recommend! We spent around £150 for 4 people which is a fair price for the great food we had.

Had a brilliant time dining here recently – absolutely loved every bit of it! Starters were really tasty and set the tone perfectly for the meal. Our waiter was so friendly and attentive throughout, making sure we had everything we needed. We went for the "All In" sharing platter which features a great selection of meats – lamb, beef and pork – all cooked to perfection, plus delicious sides to match. Every single dish was spot on. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming too, making it a great place for a meal with friends or family. Service was top-notch from start to finish. Would definitely recommend and we’ll be back soon!

My family came here for the incredible “All-In Sunday Roast” experience. I was the oddball being lactose intolerant vegetarian going to a steak house style restaurant. The experience at the Blacklock City location was wonderful. The staff was very attentive, sweet, and accommodating. They did not need to, but they curated custom dairy-free veggie dish for me. It was packed with herbs and flavor. Absolutely delicious. My family enjoyed the all-in roast and would have it again. The portions are generous and for London standards, I found the prices to be reasonable. Highly recommend this place even if you’re more on the vegan side, they will accommodate.

My family and I visited London over the holidays from the US. I saw a TikTok about this place and decided to try the Sunday Roast here. It was one of the top three best meals I've ever had in my life. I crave this meal every day. It was also the best Bloody Mary I've ever had in my life. I would visit London again just to try another Sunday Roast here (and Bloody Mary of course). I wish I was more hungry this day just so I could've ate my entire meal! HIGHLY recommend coming here on a Sunday!!! Thankfully I booked one of the last reservations on this specific Sunday a month before we visited. All the rest of the blacklock locations were booked out. It’s highly known and recommended to make reservations here. Also, the service was outstanding and normal-paced, unlike other places in London. Loved the atmosphere, loved the environment, loved the food, drinks, everything!

Sunday roast with family at Blacklock city. It was superb! The roast aged rump was cooked perfectly to medium rare. The gravy was delicious and all the sides were tasty. Also had the All In which is for two people or more with lamb & pork & beef which was great too. Location is right beside the Sky Garden and Mansion House station. Service was attentive and quick. Highly recommend!

The quality of the beef at this restaurant is outstanding. The steaks were cooked perfectly, very juicy! They also have a Monday discount, which makes it an amazing value for the price. On top of that, Andreea was very warm, friendly, and patient throughout our meal. Her service made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend!

Couldn’t recommend more, the steak was one of the best we have had, and brilliant value for money. The vibe was perfect for a date night but also chill enough for a family. It made a great cosy atmosphere but not sat on top of the table next to us. And the service was excellent, all of the waiters and waitresses were really easy going, helpful and friendly. Our waitress Georgia was particularly helpful on guiding us to what the best steak for us would be and what sides/sauces to go for. One of the best waitresses we have had in London. Recommend to anyone.

It was a really enjoyable experience. Normally I'm not s big fan of Sunday roast, especially of the veggies part. For the first time I've actually enjoyed it and finish everything in my plate. The staff also make the experience great. They were all friendly and professional at the same time. I'll definitely go back again and try different venues too!

Made a reservation for two at Blacklock City and arrived 10 mins early (14:50) but were seated by our reservation time which was great. We ordered the "All In" which was pretty good I must say with the roast being succulent accompanied by a rich flavourful gravy. Service was good and waiter was charismatic and attentive visiting our table frequently. Last minute we decided to order the white chocolate cheesecake to share which seemed to be all the rave judging from the tables around us. We had received the dish it was baked in which was a pleasant rustic surprise and although it did taste heavenly, we wish the portion size was equally as big as the portions being dished out for the other tables. What we had received was a leftover corner portion in the dish. We did notice portion sizes differed per table and person depending on the waiters serving it. This was the only disappointing part of the evening. I think the small portion size could have been compensated by not charging us the same amount as a standard portion. Other than that, we hope to return soon and try other items on the menu.

Great chophouse/steakhouse. The sides are almost as much of a highlight as the meat is! We had the "all in" which was a good amount of meat for two. The chops were well cooked with a tasty amount of fat and the beef chop was still pink. They also came with bread underneath that was seasoned with garlic and rosemary and with all the meat juices which was amazing. The gravy was also some the best beef gravy I have ever tasted out of a home kitchen. The brocolli and walnut salad was also fantastic. The service was generally really good with our server(s) being attentive and filling our water, taking things we had finished with etc. they were also polite and seemed happy. Unfortunately we did order a non-alcoholic cocktail which took a while to come and we had already been served our starter and then main course and we had to ask/remind the waiter. The atmosphere was good. However our table was a little close to the bar and where people were walking past constantly. Admittedly, it must not be easy as one table has to be nearest but if they had spaced them out it wouldn't be as bad. Overall we are likely to return as the food is so good! Hopefully the two minor things mentioned will go smoother next time and we have a better table :)

The meats (porterhouse, ribeye and pork) were very good although the porterhouse was under salted. My favourite was the ribeye. The sides and starters were a bit hit and miss. Bread & gravy and bone marrow were the stars. Grilled lettuce, the green sauce and the pre chop bites were all disappointing. Cheesecake was quantity over quality.

B

Good food and drink right in the heart of the city. Lovely restaurant that captures just the right atmosphere. Excellent wine and beer selection, and the starters were fantastic. The "all in" dish was rather disappointing as the pork was overcooked, which was a real shame. However, others at our table had the burgers and steaks, which were excellent. Overall, solid food at fair prices

With the exception of the egg/anchovy bite which wasn’t my kinda flavour combo, the food was cracking. We ordered the ‘All In’ to share where you can try pork chops, lamb chops, and beef. They put flatbread under it and all the juice collect in it - delicious! Service was excellent too - a nice Spanish lady who I didn’t catch the name of.

Came here for farewell dinner with a friend on Tuesday after work and had a lovely time overall. The pork t-bone was such a deal, didn’t expect to get this amount of meat for only £7.5. The beef ribeye was £11 per 100g and we went for the minimum amount (i.e., 300g) to share between the two of us. Medium was just about right, but we didn’t manage to finish all 300g at the end as we also ordered quite some other dishes. The Mushroom on Toast was phenomenal and absolutely worth giving it a try. The toast perfectly soaked up all the cream and umami flavor from the mushroom. The white chocolate cheesecake was nice and not too sweet. We actually had it before the mains were served as we were simply starving and the mains took quite some time to arrive. So yup, no complaints except the slightly longer wait time for the food.

Now I know why Blacklock is famous for it's Sunday Roast. The meat was juicy and tender, especially the Pork & Lamb, delicious. The Potato also a star on it's own, crispy outside and soft on the inside. The gravy (refillable) and sauce also delicious and compliment the meat perfectly. The food was perfect 👍👍 Service staff also attentive and friendly, except the front of the house (Ella). She was Standoffish from the time she checked our reservation, and She even pretended not to see us when we Walked out the door.

I love the food here, the shared chops and pre chop bites meal with 2 sides is great value for 2 people. The chops were succulent and very well cooked. Couple of nice cocktails too. Waiting team were fine. Only disappointed to be kept waiting around at the door because the host was on the phone, and all the other team (bar and floor) moving around us, just left us to wait for him to finish. Doesn’t make for a great start. Overall this is a good value option in a nice subterranean room with accomplished cooking.

What a great first visit to Blacklock in the City (We will be back) From being greeted and seated the whole experience was great, Dermot was the main person attending our table and they were great, even guessing what we were going to order ahead of us ordering!! If I was being picky, I would say there could have been more lamb on out all in 3 as only 2 slices, but I prefer beef anyway so didn't request it at the time. It was a birthday and we were given a cheesecake with a candle to help the celebrations F A N T A S T I C

Pros • Helpful, patient, and attentive service despite how busy the restaurant was • Staff accommodated an off-menu request (mushroom sauce) • Steak cooked perfectly medium rare • Extremely tender, soft, and flavourful steak • Good value for money considering the quality • Strong option for an above-average steak • Overall food quality was high Cons • Very busy and noisy atmosphere • Strong office-worker/work-lunch vibe • Seating felt cramped and crowded due to nearby large groups • Not a relaxed dining environment • Winter coleslaw was too acidic (personal taste) I tried coming here once before for a steak but it was fully booked, and every time I checked the website the slots I wanted were already taken. I eventually managed to book a table for myself and finally got in. At first glance, the atmosphere was very busy. It was mostly filled with local office workers chatting about work, or at least pretending not to 😂. The whole place definitely has a work-lunch/dinner vibe. Once seated, that feeling didn’t really change. My table was tucked into a corner next to a medium-sized group and a large group, so it felt a bit cramped and noisy. I spent a while deciding which steak to order, it was between the ribeye and another cut I hadn’t tried before. The waiter helped me out when I mentioned I wanted the most tender option, and he recommended the ribeye, so I went with that. I also asked if they could do a mushroom sauce even though it wasn’t on the menu, and he explained they could make one using a mushroom starter they already had. That alone, plus how patient and helpful he was despite how busy it was, really stood out. When the food arrived, I was excited but slightly nervous. I’ve eaten at a lot of steak places, and for the price, nothing has really beaten Flat Iron for me. I always order medium rare, and I can honestly say this steak was cooked perfectly: genuinely medium rare, very tender, and incredibly soft. It was actually softer than most of the Flat Iron steaks I’ve had recently. The steak itself tasted amazing, and the mushroom sauce made it even better. I ordered two sides: winter coleslaw and a grilled/baked sweet potato. The sweet potato was fantastic, easily my favourite side. The coleslaw, however, wasn’t really for me, it was quite acidic compared to what I’m used to. I finished my meal in about 10-15 minutes, and that was me trying not to rush. I could’ve easily demolished the steak in five minutes if I wanted to. The coleslaw took some effort to get through, but everything else went down very easily. Price-wise, it felt very reasonable for the quality. It’s definitely more expensive than Flat Iron, but the tenderness and flavour of the steak justify it. I’d absolutely recommend this place if you’re after a solid, above-average steak. Overall, it’s a busy and noisy spot, very much filled with office workers (small side note: I genuinely felt like the only non-white person there, not an issue at all, I just found it funny 😂). The service was great and patient, the steak was excellent, the mushroom sauce was a great touch, the sweet potato was amazing, and the coleslaw could be better in my opinion.

I was a bit surprised at the roast, if I'm honest. Especially after all the hype and having a great meal at the Shoreditch Blacklock a little over 1 year ago. The meat was tough and potatoes were dry and a little bit stale. The gravy lacked flavour. The portion was pretty good. Dessert was borderline flawless- a generous serving, but no asking us "when"... Overall, a bit of a disappointment this time around. But, I will be back, just not for the roast!

Came here on a Saturday, highly recommend getting reservations a few weeks in advance, as I did, if you want to come here. It gets crowded quickly. Our service was good, but the menu is confusing if you’re from out of town. Most steaks are served single portion not shareable. My favorites of the night were the pigs head on toast and the usual suspect cocktail. Steaks were flavorful, okay, but highly fatty. The chips were what you would expect. The autumn salad was beet and apple, the broccoli salad had no pecans in it. We shared a few steaks and sides amongst 5 people. Overall, it didn’t feel the most welcoming as someone from out of town, food was average, and prices were high for what we received.

L
Lon Lo

Genuinely in awe of how unseasoned any of the steaks or chops were. Everything was cooked beautifully but had no seasoning at all. Even the sauce for the roast platter was somehow seasonless. Big thanks to the waitress who offered us free dessert for our birthday. Again, a shame because the meat was cooked perfectly, and its not exactly a cheap meal either. Seating can be quite crampt and the amount of guests means it can get quite difficult to talk, so dont expect a quiet romantic time here if you go during peak hours.

N
Nouran Mohamed Ibrahim

The lady that served us was great. She was friendly and helped us with our order. We ordered two medium fillet’s and steak dripping fried. Last time at blacklock the meat was perfect, however this time, my steak was tooooooo salty! I was pretty disappointed because i had high expectations from my last visit.

I have never felt compelled to leave a bad review, but I was left thoroughly disappointed tonight. We live outside of the UK, but have made it a tradition to have Sunday roast dinner at Blacklock during our frequent visits to London. We have only ever dined at the Soho location, but we opted for City this time because our hotel was nearby and we wanted to have Sunday roast dinner for our last meal before an early morning flight. Our last dinner in London has always been at Blacklock, and is an event that we always look forward to. We arrived for our 18:15 booking a few minutes early and were seated promptly. We ordered quickly because we had plans after dinner. Unfortunately, our experience went downhill from there. We waited about 50 minutes for our food to be delivered lukewarm. In the interest of time, we did not ask for our food to be reheated because we were worried it might take long. Our waiter was nice enough, but we were shocked to still see the service charge on our bill even after he had acknowledged the long wait. Very upset to have such a disenchanting end to a long-standing tradition at an institution previously associated with happy memories.
