Really excellent meal. Excellent service. Cozy and romantic atmosphere. Fantastic all around. Bread was a simple selection of three different types but done really nicely and served with a balsamic and olive oil. Meat was cooked perfectly, pigeon, venison and steak all perfectly cooked and the pigeon in particular was surprisingly good in a sweet port jus with blueberries. Otherwise good meat cooked rare was as superb as always. The bernaise sauce with the steak was extremely salty and lost its flavour, but the mustard selection was excellent and paired with the meat well. We were offered some wine tasting to help us decide what wine to have with our meal because we had different tastes and the waitress was able to find a wine we both enjoyed with our meal. Service was quick when we wanted it but unobtrusive and didn't interrupt during the meal. We used the OpenTable 50% discount, and that gave us a much greater value for money but even at full price this would have been a worthwhile meal. Really excellent restaurant, we will be back!
I had the lemon sole and capers for lunch, it was delicious, just really perfectly cooked and flavoured. Shame they had run out of raspberry tiramisu, so will have to return!
Harry's bar is like home from home, except it's way more homely and I don't have to take my shoes off. Fantastic service, classy decor, wonderful choice of beverages and the customers are wonderful, owing to the overall ambience created by Harry and his team. Food, I'm more of a liquid diner myself, however I've had the odd bit off the plate as waitresses walk by and once I treated myself to a share platter. A taste sensation. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone looking for quality service in an upmarket yet not pretentious environment. I say.
Absolutely lovely! Glorious welcome upon an unexpected arrival. Absolutely wonderful food - one of the best meals I’ve tasted in the United Kingdom! A family feeling of staff, who are friendly and professional at all times. A hidden gem in a very handy location - I can’t wait to return! 👍
Very nice gastro-pub in the heart of the City: The food here is really very good. I have to mention in particular the Harry's bar tiramisu, which is a real killer! The service is also commendable, quick, friendly and always professional. I also liked very much the atmosphere of the bar and had the good surprise to find out that the bill was quite reasonable by City standards. All in all, a very good experience. I'll certainly be back.
Always a fantastic time at Harrys. Great out door table experience in the square or cool and slinky indoor setting with some great booth type seating areas for personal dining and drinks. Food and attentive service is top class. A regular haunt for team and customer entertaining.
Very convenient location in the City. Great service from all the staff and couldn’t do enough for you. Food was excellent and the wine / beer selection is great. Nice ambiance in a lower ground bar. Highly recommend.
For drinks, the bar is very popular and seemed very jam-packed when we popped by at 7 (although maybe less rammed than the Vintry next door - although that did offer more space overall). For dinner, the restaurant area was a lot more spacious and relaxed (although still not many tables available overall) and my friends and I had a really fantastic meal. The service was brilliant (friendly and very happy to help with any queries/recommendations) and the food was to a really high standard so we were very pleased and would definitely go back. We also had a Tastecard which made it extremely reasonable.
Harry's Bar is a delightful place for lunch in the City, not too ostentatious, cosy, with alcoves for discrete discussion, the food is cosmopolitan English, service is friendly and the price is very competitive for the quality.
A lovely hidden gem underground restaurant. We went on a Wednesday evening when there was 50% off food, so this made for a highly affordable and enjoyable evening. The wine menu was excellent, and a good variety of British and French dishes on offer. At that price I'd definitely come back.
What a hidden gem. Great service and a pleasure to meet the owner! Looking forward to another visit soon as I hear the fish special is amazing!
Booked a large table for a work event for the second year running. Food and service have been excellent on both occasions. Our group was large enough to fill the dining room at the back, which is a beautiful room which sets the scene for a very personal experience. Everyone was very happy to be revisiting this place for dinner. Massive thanks to the staff for looking after us so well.
Dinner for two on a quiet Thursday night. Very good food..the sole exceptional, the cottage pie delicious. The menu had a good mix of interesting dishes..."British" cuisine..in a very good way. Drinks reasonably priced for central London. Very close to Cannon Street station but tucked away off the main road, and below ground. Quirky decor that I found very appealing. Attentive service from staff who know their dishes. Note...not open at weekends...this is in the commercial part of town! Highly recommended for couples, small groups and business meetings (they seemed to have a projector screen discreetly concealed...so maybe good for small group lunchtime meetings).
I had a gorgeous lunch and the staff were lovely. I will definitely be going again.
Came to Harry's on a Business Dinner and WOW what can I say.... The food was incredible (I recommend the steak!) , Staff were super friendly and made us feel very welcomed. The atmosphere was amazing. Overall incredible experience and we will be coming back very soon.
We stumble upon this little gem near Bank Station. It was a Wednesday night and the place was reasonably quiet so we could have a conversation without having to shout. Nice bar and seating area downstairs, good service, tasty food snd cocktails. I go back there again ❤
Lamb shank just fell off the bone. Great prices Will return Tk you
Nevaeh, the runner, was so lovely she really completed the experience for me. Truly an amazing worker.
First time visit. This is a gem of a place just off Cannon St. If in the area, and after quality food or just a drink at the bar, this is the place to head to. Had some fantastic Japanese whiskey to finish my visit.
Had lunch there on 14th Jan. Pate Shepherds pie and Lemon cheesecake were all divine
Wow! The food in here is incredible..staff are wonderful. Private dining experience. Loved it. Can't wait to go back
Heart of the busy Square Mile but calm, sophisticated, quiet and convivial. Superb basement bar restaurant with tremendous atmosphere. Great quality, value pricing. A real City gem.
Amazingly friendly and helpful people, and having spoken to the manager I can understand why. He has terrific management skills and clearly enjoys his profession. I turned up having stupidly forgotten to make a booking in advance and they sorted it all out for me within minutes. Thank you.
Fantastic. Staff very attentive whilst not being in your face. We were the last to leave but absolutely no pressure put on us to leave (10pm). Food delicious too.
I just popped in here because the next door's pub was too busy. It's a hidden gem so I don't want to tell everyone - some tables can keep privacy and it's very cozy. The food was nice and the staff serves very friendly but not too casual. It's highly recommended for small group and I definitely keep coming back!
Every table taken, mainly with people celebrating the upcoming Christmas holiday. Usually this does not bode well for a restaurant but the food was great, the staff were attentive and in good humour, we just had a really enjoyable time
It was a quite superb evening. Gaby and the team could not have been helpful and had arranged a wonderful table in our own space. The menu was ideal and the quality of cuisine was quite excellent. We will be heading back there
Staff are amazing, food is traditional and really tasty and perfectly presented. Selection of wine is 10/10 and the atmosphere is pleasant and relaxing. I am a frequent visitor here. Definitely one of the best restaurants in the city!
I came here yesterday for my boyfriends birthday as we were staying in abchurch yard. The greeting and service from the moment we walked in was amazing! The front of house had a big smile on her face and was very helpful when we found out I had made reservations at the wrong Harry's bar! We had a perfect night and they even brought us over some extra bits when I told them it was my partners birthday. Food was also incredible and we had a great night. Thank you :)
A great welcome and service from staff at this out of the way city site. Food cooked just as promised (pink liver arrived pink) from an imaginative diverse menu. Good range, too, on the wine list and at the bar.
Crowded, noisy bar but dining area quiet and intimate. Good place for a business; food and service were both excellent.
Booked for a lunch for 4, service was very good, especially shakira, food was overall good too. Main gripe was a quite limited vegetarian menu and menu states soup of the day is veggie but on this occasion it wasn’t. Crab soup. Please try and improve veggie choices. Also £9 prawn cocktail was rather disappointing. Really enjoyed calves liver main and tiramisu dessert. If you are veggie give them notice when booking. We will return as overall enjoyable.
Considering time of year it was quite crowded. Slight delay in getting starters but after that all good. Prices comparably with City prices..staff attentive and caring.Food far better than other restaurants in the area. Never been before but wil go again. Paul Oliver ...guest of Tony Brothers...both of whom worked in the EC3 area for at least 30 years.
Superb cocktails served quickly with a smile. Lovely place to find. Excellent food at reasonable prices. My only reservation, the food needs to be served hot. Highly recommended for a night out.
The restaurant was very comfortable and warm on a cold day. Our table was ideally placed. The waitress Emily was very efficient & pleasant. However as the hot food was served on cold plates it didn't stay hot for long, which was very disappointing. We did mention this to the server and she answered it is how the chef does it.
Came here for a business lunch, it was okay but nothing special. The bread on arrival, although a nice touch was stone cold. The wait for the mains was quite long, our waitress although polite she didn't really seem to know what she was doing. She hovered a lot over our table when coming to take our orders or ask if the meal was okay, usually they just come over and ask with confidence but she just hovered over us until we looked up so we found this a little uncomfortable. My colleagues had steak, which one enjoyed, but others were bleeding on the plate. My avocado and crab was fresh and light, but the chocolate lava dessert, not sure what was "lava" about it, it's described as a cake with chocolate sauce but the sauce was a drizzle of what tasted like the "treat" sauce you get from Tesco out of the bottle. I wouldn't return sadly.
It may well be a "City institution" but really it's just OK for a quick pint after work on a nice day. The food is ordinary at best. It's not bad but certainly not gastropub food. It's pub grub. The waiting staff cannot fill your glass fast enough so eager are they to sell you another bottle. It's what you might call "reading from a script good service" they do the right thing with all the sincerity of a prisoner saying to a prison officer "have a nice holiday". Nothing I write will stop City Boy's going to Harry's Bar but hopefully it will point you in the right direction if you're going for the food.
Giving 3 points just for the maitre'd who was very cordial and the nice interior design. Other than that... Bread we didn't need was pushed on to us, despite us saying we didn't order nor need it. Turns out later, this was supposed to justify a 'cover charge' per person. Yes, you read that right - this 'gastropub' charges a cover charge just for being there. Very silly - this isn't the Ritz. We ordered teas, and both teapots arrived 1/3 full. When we asked to fill them up a bit more, we were charged for a second tea. None of this left a particularly positive impression. Won't be coming back.
Good atmosphere but relatively slow service. 5 fairly simple drinks took 15 minutes to arrive. (2 pints, 1 g&t, 1JD and 1 martini)
Nice little restaurant and bar in the City. Excellent service and goid food and wine. I had pigeon breast starter and venison main with a decent cheescake desert. The Lamb and duck mains looked just as good so thumbs up from myself and my guests.
Harry's has a good friendly atmosphere and great decor. Party of six for my son's Birthday. Taking into consideration that we are in London, this place is pricey, £363. for six people without desert. The service was slow and some of the food arrived cold. My main gripe was that we were steered to the more pricier beverages and in my opinion, as a Guinness drinker to be conned into thinking I was served draught from a pump when I saw him pouring out of a can was sacrilege. I chose to stay silent, because of the occasion. Overall, I can only give it a fair review and probably this experience would probably be my last.
I don't like to leave bad reviews as a rule but my experience here on New Year's Eve was truly appalling. My wife and I booked the restaurant through OpenTable for a meal at 9pm on NYE. We arrived at 8.45 to be greeted by a scrappy piece of A4 paper telling us the restaurant was closed for a private function. I then double checked the booking and realised that Harry's had cancelled the booking at 8.04pm that evening. Less than an hour before we were due to sit! No phone call, no explanation and no assistance in securing somewhere else to eat. Which was of course impossible in the city at 9pm on NYE. Our night was pretty much ruined. I then emailed Harry's Bar asking for an explanation and frankly an apology. As yet I have had no response. I'm sure the waiting staff are great and the food is lovely. Sadly the management are awful. Below is a screenshot of the email I received cancelling the booking. I work in this industry and no one I have discussed this with can believe this level of incompetence. If they overlook a booking I'm not confident they will have a keen eye on fridge temperatures or use by dates. Avoid this place, it's not like there aren't plenty of other options nearby (just not at 9pm on NYE)
You can't take the food away if you order to much.
My rating is due the horrendous management of the place. Went for an early drink with a few girlfriends after a busy week. Noticed a few drunk people and mainly one really loud and drunk lady on arrival but its London and Thursday night – everyone is having a great time. Was having a great time till a man asked the waiter to add their bill to our bills, this did no go unnoticed buy my friend who was quick as challenging this! We were told to speak to the manager who happened to be that dunk lady. When explained the issue she was defensive saying we automatically in the wrong as they were her regulars, so why would they lied. We 3 ladies had to be mistaken and should leave the premises immediately and were escorted out by a very drunk man pretending to be the owner who was vocally rude and frightening us. I have booked this place for works many times but will be assured to never do this again. So unless you are willing to take advantage of young women this is not a place to go!
My friend and I booked a table through OpenTable. The restaurant was completely empty when we arrived, but the service was surprisingly inflexible. We asked to see the bar snacks menu (to order alongside the à la carte), and were told we could only order from the dining menu because of the type of reservation. I ended up having to insist just to order something that was clearly available and easy for them to serve. It felt unnecessarily awkward. Bread was placed on the table without us asking, and we later realised it was added to the bill . it would’ve been helpful to mention that upfront! When we asked to take our leftovers home, they said they don’t have any takeaway containers, so the food just had to be left behind, which felt wasteful. The total came to about £88. For that price, I expected a smoother and more welcoming experience. Overall the vibe was just off, and I wouldn’t return.
