Love this place. Used to come here when working in the City. Returned for lunch and catch up with friends. Food and service is very traditionally French. We were also given a wonderful window seat overlooking the xmas tree in Leadenhall market. Wonderful!
Amazing atmosphere and great staff, the tuna steak it was delicious! Highly recommend!
Had a lovely valentines evening here. We were greeted with a warm welcome and given a lovely window seat overlooking the market. The delicious classic French food, Snails, Duck and Skate were perfectly cooked and very tasty. The recommended white wine was also fab. Would recommend.
Cute restaurant, super quiet in the evening and busier at lunch time. We had a great dinner in a quiet atmosphere. Lovely and caring staff. The food is really nice, tasty and the portions are generous.
Delicious! I went on a Tuesday evening after work. It's up a long flight of stairs. Once inside the front of house lady was polite and welcoming and sat us down. The restaurant was not busy. The decor was chic and classic. The servers, Mac and Junior gave excellent customer service. Both friendly and attentive. Junior gave a great recommendation of the Cote de boeuf for two to share. It was EXCEPTIONAL! flavoursome, tender, melt in your mouth beef! It came with both peppercorn sauce and hollandaise on the side plus fries. Definitely worth the portion size! My friend had mistakenly ordered Moussaka, but that was no reflection of the taste, the Moussaka was good. My friend then ordered the roast chicken instead and it was the most succulent chicken I've ever had the pleasure to taste. I will certainly return to have the roast chicken for myself. I then had the ice-cream profiteroles, which were divine! Overall I'm really pleased with my experience and would highly recommend. Update: we have been to this restaurant at least three times, every time service has been exceptional and food have been wonderful! However they have changed the menu and now there are barely any dairy free options. The only dairy free options for dinner service was steak, which is disappointing because the menu has so much variety. Thankfully they were able to improvise off menu this time.
We had a wonderful anniversary dinner; had quite a few things from the menu and honestly all were amazing - took us right back to Paris 😊 highly recommend and the prices are very reasonable for London!
Awesome. We hosted a corporate party and it has been great. Staff is lovely, food is great and location is unique in the heart of the city. Absolutely recommended!
Perfect spot for lunch above the general market tourist hullabaloo. The appetizer smoked duck salad is a perfect pick me up before hitting the street for the next museum across the bridge.
Typical French restaurant located in the city, good food with French atmosphere.
Loved it. Great menu and everything we had from the steak to the cheese and deserts. Wine selection and value is great
Would highly reccomend, lovely food and atmosphere. Location is great being in the beautiful Leadenhall Market.
Excellent City French restaurant situated upstairs in Leadenhall Market. Has stood the test of time. Daily specials are recommended, very good service, and a varied wine list. Prime tables are next to the windows. Won't disappoint, and if you are after a leisurely lunch that lingers on with good company so much the better.
Another excellent meal at my favourite city restaurant, I highly recommentd the Rabbit Rillettes or the Steak Tartare to start with and the Duck Confit or Lamb Rogot as a main course. The service was excellent and the staff is very friendly and attentive. We had to wait a little bit longer than usual for our mains but considering how busy they were we were pleased the food came out relatively quickly. I will definetely be going back soon.
I visited Luc’s Brasserie with a large group for a Christmas dinner/party. The food was excellent and the staff were exceptional. Cibele, Peppe and Kevin were especially attentive. They were incredibly friendly and couldn’t have done more for us. I would 100% recommend visiting Luc’s brasserie and will definitely be back!
Excellent food, quick yet respectful turn around, good wine list. Top drawer for a business lunch.
Great venue overlooking Leadenhall Market matched only by good food, superb service by friendly staff, and a busy lunchtime vibe.
Superb, and I mean superb! Great choice of lovely French food and wines. I had the Duck Confit. Heaven on a plate! Can't wait to return.
Lovely French eatery with food wine selection. Had the lamb as a main and was superb. Nice retreat away from the boisterousness of Leadenhall market.
I recently dined at Luc’s and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxing meal. Jenifer and Giuseppe provided exceptional service, always attentive and friendly, making sure we had everything we needed. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. Five stars all around!
The atmosphere is magic, the food is excellent and the staff is exceptional. I went with a friend to celebrate my birthday and every single member of staff made us feel so welcoming and special. I m really pleased with my experience I would highly recommend it.
Originally the restaurant was chosen moreso to fit a "Luc" Besson theme but the reality was more spectacular than I imagined. We had the Duck confit and the Poulet option which we're both delightful. Romantically lit with generously spaced seating for more intimate conversations, and serving sizes generous for the price? This restaurant feels like a hidden gem While the chicken was undercooked at first, the waiters resolved it immediately and staff generously granted us a complementary drink in turn (an unexpectedly pleasant surprise I shan't forget). No photos as I was too busy enjoying a valentine's date unfortunately
Beautiful views from our table of Leadenhall, wonderful menu and honestly the best service I've probably EVER received in a restaurant. Lovely, friendly staff with high attention to detail. Huge thank you.
We came for lunch without a booking, they got us easy in a weekday. The fish, bread and the service is quite superior. Cozy place located in Leadenhall market
The food was absolutely beautiful and the staff really attentive and made an effort to chat and laugh with us and looked after us. Recommend the parfait, steak and the chocolate mousse ( the dessert was unreal)
Situated on the 1ste floor we were glad to have found this place. Food was great likewise the service.
Excellent bistro menu, founded in the French culinary tradition. We would gladly have chosen anything on the menu. Baked apple with blue cheese, and steak entrecôte were especially memorable. Superb tart tartin. Not expensive considering the location. Warm and friendly FoH.
The duck confit is the kind of dish that makes you want to take notes… and possibly a few discreet photos of the chef’s technique.
Food and service excellent.Only downside was the noise in the restaurant had to raise your voice to be heard by my guests.
One of the great things about London is that you can get pretty much any type of food cuisine that you crave for... And thus the choice on this restaurant... I was craving for something French... The ambience was great but the waitress was a bit of a turn off because, when we first asked about beef bourginion, she asked what is that, and she referred us to the wine menu... After that we told her that we were ready to order but she realized that she didn't have a working pen, and had to wait for her fellow waitress to be kind enough to lend her one after around 10mins.... I was OK with the food, I have had better French food from Paris but it was decent food especially if you are avoiding bread, carbs, pasta...
Pretty good French food in the very atmospheric Leadenhall Market. Upstairs, open windows...
This place is easy to miss as it's above the market and the entrance is fairly non-descript. The fix Prix menu was very generous, reasonably priced and very tasty. Service was excellent- discrete and attentive $$ for cost.
Small, busy brasserie. Little tricky to find, small side door near pizza express. Steep flight of stairs. Good selection of French food well presented and served.. House white was very reasonable. Staff are good but would not describe as warm and friendly.
Updating review having returned after 8 years! All aspects excellent except... the standard of steak cooking is disappointing (under seasoned and not quite cooked to order); we had a 2019 claret (fantastic year so difficult to go wrong) which was v underpar. The white Rhone was great.
French Brasserie in the heart of Leadenhall Market. Good range of classic French cuisine. Good service and reasonable prices. Get a window seat and watch the business folks wander by in one of the best old buildings in the city. One drawback is steep steps in the restaurant so let them know if mobility is an issue.
Took ages to get served. The food was lovely. Took ages to be asked if we wanted dessert. Took ages to get the bill! There is a theme..... Leadenhall is so lovely and Lucs was fine! The stairs are STEEP!
Good service, they kick you off the table earlier than your booking and the apple tart is serves with a side of chip. :)
3 stars because the 6 baked Camemberts we ordered to our table were unfortunately hard and cold in the middle and had to ask them to redo. Additionally I ordered a rare steak and was provided a medium (mixup without another diner). However issue was quickly resolved and was reserved. The steak and peppercorn sauce were delicious!
I don't enjoy posting negative reviews but Lucs really needs some changes. Beautiful setting with a view over leadenhall market with pleasant decor means this place has a lot of potential. Staff were delightful once they engaged but took about half an hour until they took our drink order despite only one other table and two people working. Entrecôte was £29.95 but limited flavour and slightly over cooked vs request. Peppercorn sauce was very soapy tasting so I couldn't eat it and came with a skin on / tepid. Wine was tasty (Pinot noir carafe) and fries were pleasant but not as good as most French restaurants - liked the green beans with onions. Friend ordered fish cake £18.95 without fries (painfully expensive for a fish that is half potato), which wasn't well presented and was again missing the good flavour and quality you'd expect for the price. Nothing was said when she ordered a side of spinach when it already came with spinach.
Good food. Mediocre/poor service. Could only provide a very limited selection of dishes for someone not eating butter as dishes had an element of pre-preparation with butter already added. I’d thought a chef could’ve managed such a request.
Food is traditional french cuisine. I had half a chicken and my guests had a toulouse sausage with mash. The place is bang in the middle of the insurance district so always packed with insurance brokers and underwriters on a business lunch in the day. Wine selection is, as a result, very good. Good if you are having a business meeting. Would be terrible for families (who would be better off at the big Pizza chain immediately below).
Love the decor, French chic and ambience envelops this place but it gets far too crowded and then that's when the food suffers. That was not a good steak, far from it and it had to go back which I hate doing but it was very very below medium (Moo)
The atmosphere was really energetic and interesting at Luc's, however be prepared to scale a lot of stairs to get to your table. The olives were delicious, however my steak was overdone and quite chewy.
Very mediocre food and staf who repeatedly leant between us while we were talking interrupted us to unnecessarily pour wine. Incredibly noisy almost impossible to speak to the person opposite me.
Had a meal here last month and although the wine and service was good I thought the food was below average. The pate was served with burnt toast and not nearly enough of it. I had the fishcakes for my mains which had far too little fish in the them and too much potato. They were just bland. My friend had the sausage which was just one sausage on a what looked like beans and a brown gravy like sauce. The presentation of the food was very poor. The food felt expensive for what it was.
Firstly it was a very hot humid night and ceiling fans were going full blast but they did not really cover our table - windows had to be open and the noise from the two or three heaving bars downstairs was drowning out our conversation We had Escargot for starter were just chewy and garlicy. Main course was fish cake but had to order extra side dishes of veg to make a meal the fish cake tasted very good Dessert was ice cream profiteroles which were good Overall food was acceptable Unfortunately due to one sullen female waitress the service was uninspiring.
The low quality of the food, service and even wine here is baffling. Ordered 2 steaks and 1 appetiser. All 3 dishes were bland and cold. One steak was undercooked while the other was over. The sauces were also bland and tasted old. The fries came with a thread. The wine tasted like it was opened the week before. The servers never smiled. One of the wine glasses had 2 cracks. My table had no salt. Is this enough?
Difficult to review as a restaurant as without warning or explanation and only 3 days before our special meal, the restaurant cancelled our reservation! Tried to email and call to reinstate the booking, and have been ignored! Abysmal customer service and I'd never entertain them in the future regardless of their possible high food offering.
Portions very small for the price. Chicken full of bones. Waiter did not ask how steak to be cooked. Moussaka sloppy and tasteless. Totally overpriced. Also noisy.
AVOID if you have allergies or intolerances or expect even basic professionalism. I don’t usually leave negative reviews but I had one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had in this restaurant. My colleague is coeliac and cannot eat gluten which we clearly indicated upon arrival. The staff here very confidently stated that the meal in question was gluten-free. We even double-checked when the meal arrived and both the waitress and manager confirmed the meal was 100% gluten-free, and then once my colleague started eating they then came back to tell us that it wasn’t. The level of confidence in their own ineptitude is very concerning. To add insult to injury they also didn’t bring our sides (despite upselling us on them!) and then added service charge and cover charges on top! Even just for my lunch and sparkling water the bill still came to £50.
Ambience is ok (old but well decorated) and quaint, but contact lens wearers- do not come in the summer as the fans will dry your eyes out (and no they will not move you). Service is also not great- waiters are clumsy / careless (her bracelet was all over my utensils so I had to ask for new ones). Food was edible but not that great, and definitely not worth the price point. Good window-side views of Leadenhall market though.
