Veal milanese in peppercorn sauce 5/10: the sauce wasn't too great but it was cooked nicely. Veal milanese(normal) 10/10: Cooked well and tasted delicious. Atmosphere10/10: Homey as mentioned before it feels like the type of place where you would meet old friends and family members.
Lovely Italian restaurant, great decoration and vibes as you feel you are away on holiday We were a big group and they accommodated us really well with gluten free , nut free food We ordered starters and they were delicious and very good portions just like the mains !! 2 had to share one fish dish as it comes in 2 large sea bass fillets as well as 2 of us had to share the escalope and you get 2 good sizes for one dish We ordered extras such as spinach , broccoli & mash + baby potatoes The dessert was so yummy
Visited with my Italian friend after a show at the royal Albert hall. Excellent service, lovely warm staff and authentic food. As my friend put it "finally! Tomatoes that taste like tomatoes!" Veal Milanese was thin and crispy and the tagliata was very tender with a beautiful contrasting dressing of olive oil, mustard and lemon. They charge both service charge and a cover charge - usually they only do the cover charge in Italy. A bit overpriced but I suppose you have to take into account the area. They serve lots of extra bits like bread, olives, bruschetta, and amaretti - probably where the cover charge comes from. 8/10 would come back!
After dining at Scalini in London last Friday, I can confidently say that the experience exceeded all our expectations. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the staff were friendly and attentive, and the Italian food was absolutely delicious. It was one of the best Italian meals I’ve had worldwide. We will definitely be back, visit at your other locations on our travels. Thank you Team Scalini
Scalini was absolutely fantastic. The Gennaro Spaghetti was rich, flavorful, and cooked to perfection—truly a standout dish. The Veal Milanese was equally impressive: crispy on the outside, tender inside, and full of taste. The service was flawless, attentive without being intrusive, and the ambience was elegant and inviting. A top-tier Italian dining experience from start to finish.
This is a place with a rich history. The starters were very good especially the mushrooms and burrata salad and aubergine and tomato starter. My sea bass was excellent. Overall this is an excellent place. The atmosphere with the glass ceiling as the rear on a day like this was very good to experience. Surprisingly they missed one order in our group and we had to wait for it. So the 4 stars for service. Tiramisu was very good. Would recommend. Sorry cannot state prices was we were guests to our friend in London.
We celebrated a birthday at Scalini last night, and it was fantastic! With a group of four adults and one child, we enjoyed incredibly delicious food in an atmosphere that truly felt like Italy. Despite not having pizza, the diverse and flavorful dishes more than satisfied us. Highly recommend for a special occasion or a delightful Italian dining experience! ---
A proper trattoria. Excellent service. Large menu. Beautiful food. Worth every penny. We shared dishes as we love the variety that brings.
I love Scalini in Dubai, and I recently tried their London branch. Although the menu seems slightly different, I enjoyed this one just as much. The service was excellent, particularly thanks to a staff member named Lewio, who was very friendly and efficient. I'll definitely visit this place again, especially since their menu offers a nice change and is just as good.
Excellent! Old school staff, old school Italian menu, great wine list. The menu has some surprisingly 1980s classics - prosciutto and melon anyone? (Its’s good, try it!) Surprisingly affordable if you stay away from the wine menu - but they do half bottles. Perfect venue for a relaxed Sunday lunch. It’s busy, so you’ll need to book.
My wife and I have been for leisurely lunch with my brother in law today. What a fantastic meal! The service was excellent. The food was superb with a great choice of fresh seafood and pasta. Nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended.
- Good food, and great friendly staff, with personal touches and accommodations to dietary preferences. - Both the restaurant and the staff are very accommodating to all varieties of personal celebrations. On consecutive days we celebrated a Masters graduation and a family friend birthday. - It was nice celebratory with a “familiar” vibe without disturbance to the general atmosphere of the restaurant.
Had heard mixed reviews about Scalini, but we had a great time catching up with a friend there. The food is Italian homemade perfection and the service is on point, but Mr. Nicola is fantastic! He made our night. The salmon fettucine was the best, but every single dish was cleaned off the plate. The restaurant was quiet at 7pm when we sat down, but was packed by 8.30pm The crowds are mixed, from dates and friendly catchups, to birthday dinners (we had two such celebrations the night we were there). Would highly recommend for the Italian family feeling and for the comfort food.
Still going strong had nephew birthday oarty in here and as usual excellent sll round especially the spaghetti pescara There was a time when you couldn't get a table in Scalinis.. just shows how quiet London is this year. Still was fairly busy in here as the food is fantastic, thus will always be a top 5 Italian restaurant of London!
It was very delicious and the plates were big 👌
My favorite place ever.. The best food ever .. you never know what to choose from the spaghetti lobster to the sole to the veal Milanese and the most delicious asparagus .. so we orde all!!The waiters are super fun, quick and agreeable.. thank you for always giving me the best experience !
Scalini, nestled in the heart of London, offers a truly enchanting dining experience that feels like stepping into a family-run restaurant straight from Italy. This hidden gem radiates warmth, creating an inviting atmosphere that captures the essence of Italian hospitality. The food at Scalini is nothing short of fantastic. With a menu showcasing the best of Italian cuisine, each dish is a delightful masterpiece of flavors. From mouthwatering pasta dishes to delectable seafood options, the culinary offerings are sure to please even the most discerning palate. Additionally, I have some personal recommendations for dishes that truly stood out during my visit to Scalini: 1. Bresaola & Ricotta: For cheese and beef enthusiasts, the Bresaola & Ricotta dish is an absolute must-try. The combination of tender, thinly sliced bresaola and creamy ricotta creates a delectable harmony of flavors. Each bite is a delightful symphony of savory and creamy goodness that will leave you craving more. 2. Fettuccine Al Ragu Bianco & Tartufo Nero: If you're a fan of pasta dishes, I highly recommend indulging in the Fettuccine Al Ragu Bianco & Tartufo Nero. The homemade fettuccine, perfectly cooked to al dente perfection, is smothered in a luscious white ragu sauce. The addition of fragrant black truffles adds an earthy and luxurious touch, elevating this classic dish to new heights of culinary delight. 3. Gamberoni Fra Diavola: For seafood lovers with a taste for a little heat, the Gamberoni Fra Diavola is a stellar choice. Succulent jumbo prawns are cooked to perfection in a spicy tomato-based sauce that balances fiery flavors with a hint of sweetness. The combination of tender prawns and bold, zesty sauce creates a tantalizing experience that will awaken your taste buds.
It was all amazing, even when I was shocked with the bread crumbs , the staff was so caring. Special thanks to them
Best of the best. Top 3 old school Italian restaurants in London. Everything super good!
Wonderful staff and Scalini never disappoints. The food was great and the staff were very nice. And the food really hit the spot. A real Italian restaurant with a cozy feel and even during lunch the place was decently packed.
Excellent service and authentic Italian food! Liked that I was informed that the special would cost a certain amount and not been surprised by the price when paying.
Really excellent restaurant, good Italian food, excellent service.
One of the best Italian restaurants in London. My friend insisted to take me to try this restaurant saying that a must place. Well, i can tell you its beyond my expectation.
The food is delicious, service next level, all in all a very special experience.
I have been coming to this restaurant for more than 20 years. Good food and good service with reasonable prices.
Service was friendly and efficient. They went of their way to hail a taxi for us. The Dover sole was perfectly prepared with a simple lemon butter sauce. Tender & flakey but a bit spendy. Rigatoni was al dente with a nice marinara. We also enjoyed the stuffed zucchini blossom which had a light batter deep fry. Overall an excellent Italian restaurant. Highly recommend in the Chelsea district.
We always enjoy a relaxing dinner at Scalini. Food is great, atmosphere appropriate and service friendly. If you've been shopping at Harrod's, it's close by.
An unexpected find on Walton street in Knightsbridge. Beautiful Italian restaurant with a family flare. All the dishes were absolutely delicious. Generous portions and honest food. I would recommend the truffled scallops, just amazing. We were so full. Thank you for a beautiful meal. Wished I discovered you sooner.
Scalini is a classic. A trusted go-to Italian restaurant in London. The atmosphere is laud back and elegant. Would love to see some new additions to the menu 🤩
The restaurant which i am sure needs no introduction, We all enjoyed our delicious food and the evening was everything we hoped it would be. Try their lasagne & lemon veal It was yummy..
Old fashioned Italian restaurant. Thought the wine was massively overpriced. Food decent, but nothing that stood out. £230 for sharing starter and two mains with three glas of wine in total. Poor value! Venue is great but would prefer a more dimmed light into evening.
Food is very good and service is excellent but I do think the price is crazy because it wasn't blowminder, not good enough to justify the price. The best dish was the Lasagna and the Cheesecake was one of the worse I've ever tried in a restaurant.
Not the Scalini you might remember except service is still exceptional and it's manged to retain that nostalgic charm. Food is very ordinary vs what you can buy from the $$$$ Scalini prices. To be fair however, the portions were huge and we could have shared every dish and halved the bill 😅Coffee was inexcusable as one of the iconic Italian restaurants in London.
Food was very nice. However I couldn’t say the same about the service.
This was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. The food was good but the service was the worst. The staff rushed our food as if they were trying to kick us out all because one of the people in our group was wearing a hoodie, apparently it wasn’t a fitting attire which was unfortunate as we went straight from the airport. Were respectful and did not disturb any body which was not the case for the table next to us who were loudly talking which ruined the atmosphere. I was a loyal customer but after this incident I will never go back.
Unfortunate experience. Nice room and servers but their kitchen is a mess. Had a couple decent appetizers, a burrata and a carpaccio, which were large portions. Waited over an hour for our main course and were never informed about status. We left and didn’t eat as the mains came as we were leaving. Still charged 130 pounds for appetizers and drinks. Won’t be back.
Scalini left a disappointing taste in our mouths with their confusing approach to small dishes. Initially, we were under the impression that these small bites were complimentary treats, only to be shocked when we received the bill and realized they were charged separately. To make matters worse, the quality of the food at Scalini fell far below our expectations. The dishes lacked flavor and were poorly executed. From bland pasta dishes to uncooked calamari, it was a disheartening experience for our taste buds. The presentation was lackluster, failing to showcase any culinary finesse or attention to detail. The service was also subpar. Not only did they fail to clarify the charges for the small dishes upfront, but the staff seemed disinterested and inattentive throughout our visit. It was clear that customer satisfaction was not their priority, as our concerns were met with indifference. Overall, our experience at Scalini was highly disappointing. The lack of transparency regarding charges for small dishes, coupled with the mediocre quality of the food and subpar service, left us feeling unsatisfied. We cannot recommend this establishment to anyone seeking a memorable dining experience.
All Show, No Substance Scalini in Chelsea trades entirely on its name and postcode. The owner’s arrogance sets the tone — dismissive, self-satisfied, and utterly out of touch. The ambiance is painfully bright and pretentious, full of people seemingly there to be seen rather than to enjoy a meal. As for the food? Incredibly poor and shockingly overpriced. Every dish felt lazy and uninspired, the kind of cooking that relies on reputation instead of quality. A restaurant with this much ego should at least deliver on taste — but Scalini doesn’t even come close.
