Extremely good food- probably the best in the local area. All our dishes were extremely well executed and very flavourful. The servings were very generous too- especially the “large plates” which they recommend sharing 1 between 2. The pork collar was what we got and did not disappoint. Overall, very michelinish style food, especially the smallest plates (such as the tartlets). The service was highly attentive and the servers were very friendly and helpful. Reasonable price, but not particularly cheap.
I went to the Parakeet yesterday for the roast beef roast dinner and can safely say it’s the best one I’ve ever had. The atmosphere was lovely, service was exceptional and every aspect of the meal was so delicious. Don’t often leave reviews but was so impressed. Would highly recommend and I will be returning.
A place for a phenomenal roast! Potato and veg portions on the side are a little big for one person as they are usually for sharing, but they are both tasty. Attentive and friendly staff even during busy hours. Reservations are basically mandatory, especially if you are going in a group, as the place is packed even from around 4.30pm. In any case, I hope to come back here the next time I visit London!
I genuinely love The Parakeet Pub! As a wedding photographer, I’ve been lucky enough to spend many beautiful hours here photographing a reception, and this place truly stole my heart. I haven’t eaten here yet, but from the moment you walk in you can feel how welcoming, creative and full of character it is. The Parakeet is quirky, artistic and incredibly warm. With its original features, wooden panelling and thoughtful creative details, it feels like a very special place. The wedding I photographed was in December, so it had a magical festive atmosphere, but even beyond Christmas it is such a cosy, uplifting and engaging space to celebrate with the people you love. After many years photographing weddings in London, this is honestly one of those venues I would wholeheartedly recommend to any couple looking for something relaxed, creative and meaningful in North London. I very much hope to photograph many more weddings here in the future. Even if you’re just looking for a lovely place for a Sunday meal, go and visit. It’s an amazing place.
We had an amazing Sunday roast experience. The ambiance is perfect. I have never been in a pub this gorgeous before. Feels like the right amount of cozy and vibey. The servers were very attentive and super lovely. Our food was excellent, from the beef to the veggie option, everyone was impressed. Very generous portions too. Can’t wait to be back.
Lovely atmosphere and decor, the staff are very friendly but not too pushy and respect your space. Highly recommend booking in advance as this place is quite busy on Sundays. Make sure you ask for a proper steak knife for the beef roast as the cutlery provided isn’t as strong. Chicken roast is extremely juicy and succulent! I do wish they had served the potatoes as portions on your plate as opposed to one portion for the entire table.
I recently came here for a works party and was blown away to say the lease. The top floor was beautiful laid out with Christmas decorations and a gorgeous table for us all to dine at. We had bartenders and waiters with us all evening who were so lovely and helpful all evening. The food was sublime (steak and sea bream were just phenomenal) highly recommend
This place is unique. The Saturday night ambience was great, there is a pub attached, so at first I thought it might feel a bit overwhelming, but it wasn’t like that at all. We could talk normally without feeling like we had to shout over anyone. We originally came for the lamb after reading so many good reviews, but since it wasn’t on the menu, Greg gave us some recommendations and let me tell you, he really knows what he is talking about so thank you, Greg! everything was delicious and the food was brought on the perfect time, we didn’t feel rushed at all.
Stunning evening at the parakeet pub! Been wanting to try their dining room since going to the pub a while back and it didn’t disappoint. Cod collar and the sirloin were lovely, the waitress was really insightful and knowledgeable about the menu and drink showed a real passion. The runners need a little more knowledge around table service/politeness only downfall but feel it’s this generation sadly… Would 100% go back!
Hidden behind the back veils of its pub is the parakeet restaurant. Almost like a speakeasy concept, this place offers a simple menu but serves up a heck of a delightful and flavour bomb of a meal. Every dish perfectly presented, every dish with a complex flavour profile. My favourite London restaurant. Reservations a must. Super crowded. Don’t miss this place!
Miguel. If you go here, we hope you get him. From the second we got there he was courteous and caring and looked after our toddler. The first time I’ve thought the service charge was not enough. The food was great, as expected. The chocolate mouse was great, although not quite £9 great. The sticky toffee was worth every calorie. The lamb is served medium rare, i might ask for it medium next time. The chicken was cooked perfectly. If you’ve had the roast potatos at fallow you know they are insanely good, but i think thats because of the unique seasoning. At the parakeet they use seasonings you have at home and do it really well. I think I would take these roasts over fallow for a traditional roast. Get the bread and butter. Maybe get two portions. Insanely good. Finally the guiness. Better than the devonshire. Go here instead and avoid those crowds. If i didnt have my son I would have sat in the bar after and had a few more.
From the moment I stepped into The Parakeet Pub, I felt an immediate sense of warmth and belonging. Farrell greeted me with a genuine smile that set the tone for the evening. His attentiveness and thoughtful drink suggestion showed not only professionalism but also a natural gift for hospitality he made me feel like more than just a guest, but a valued part of the atmosphere. Matthew, the host, exemplified courtesy and precision. He guided me seamlessly to the right person for my snack request and, impressively, returned later to ensure everything was satisfactory. That kind of follow-through reflects a rare dedication to service, and it left me feeling truly cared for. And then there was Bea an extraordinary presence. Her depth of knowledge about both the bar and the food was remarkable, but what stood out most was her ability to connect that expertise with genuine passion. Bea is not simply well-rounded; she embodies the spirit of The Parakeet Pub. The dishes she recommended the succulent chicken skewers and the delicately crafted fish finger sandwich were nothing short of brilliant. Each bite reflected her discerning palate and her instinct for pairing guests with the perfect choice. Bea went above and beyond by securing me a table for the Sunday roast, and her thoughtful guidance through the weekday menu has already convinced me to return. Bea’s combination of intellect, warmth, and initiative transforms a good experience into an unforgettable one. She is, without question, the kind of professional who elevates a venue into a destination. As someone who is already a regular at Blues Kitchen Camden, I can confidently say that The Parakeet Pub has now earned its place as my new go to. The team’s collective effort Farrell’s welcoming charm, Matthew’s attentive guidance, and Bea’s extraordinary brilliance has created an environment where hospitality feels both personal and profound. Finally, a special thank you to Riz for amassing such a great talent. It is this combination of warmth, professionalism, and genuine care that makes The Parakeet Pub truly exceptional.
I went to The Parakeet with my colleagues and it was absolutely amazing from start to finish. The food was delicious, every dish was full of flavour and beautifully presented. The service was outstanding, with the team being attentive, friendly, and making us feel really welcome throughout our visit. The atmosphere inside is just perfect, warm, stylish, and buzzing with energy without being too loud. It’s the kind of place you don’t want to leave. We’ll definitely be coming back soon!
Lovely experience and super friendly staff Simple dishes like the house pickles cut thru the menu. We both really enjoyed the oysters and massive pork collar! First time eating Cod collar and we both loved the softness and meatiness of the way the fish was cooked and complimented by the spiced pepper sauce. Also had a good laugh at the pub quiz after (Tuesday nights)
It just kept getting better! From drinks and olives in the bar to the amazing meal and wine in the restaurant this place delivers beyond excellence. Hats off to all involved!
When I came here, I tried the potato bread, cod roe and chicken liver parfait . I absolutely loved the potato bread which was paired with a delicious smoked butter and also went well with their delicious chicken liver parfait . Personally, I wasn’t a fan of the cod roe but everyone else I was dining with did. For our roast, we had the sharing beef platter which was suitable to feed four people and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. The meat was incredibly tender and had amazing flavour . All the trimmings with the roast were all great too. Only negative thing I have to say is that I hated the sticky toffee pudding, it was definitely the worst I have ever tasted but the rest of the meal was so delicious that I didn’t mind too much.
Incredible food with incredible service, definitely one of the best meals I’ve had. I love the sharing aspect of the menu. Steak and lamb were my favourite dishes! Can’t wait to return!
This was just the most enjoyable experience. Simply amazing food and service, beautifully done yet completely unpretentious. Everything from the tartlett starters to the mousse was delicious. Thank you to all the chefs and staff!
Incredible food! I visited The Parakeet last week with a friend and I wasn’t disappointed. The menu is designed for sharing, so we got to try a few different items and they were all amazing, we ate everything! I would highly recommend the oysters as well as the lamb. The cocktails are very good too, you can choose from the menu or ask for a classic and that can be made for you instead. The staff were very attentive and polite, Adam, our waiter was brilliant. I hope I can return one day soon!
I visited the Parakeet for their Sunday roast. The pub is beautiful and has a great atmosphere. I like you can still visit the pub as a pub or have a drink before or after your meal before you make your way to the dining room. In general, the service was great. Table was ready when we arrived, great balance of checking in on us and leaving us alone. We both had the roast beef and it was great, as was all the sides. We ordered the extra cauliflower cheese which was a must, but I was a bit gutted to not have their leeks they normally do. They also had chicken, lamb and more special sharers including a sirloin. I would love to come back and try a special. We also had a sticky toffee pudding and mousse for dessert. Both were great. The wine list is decent. There are a few glasses available by glass, carafe or even by coravin. Definitely recommend. I will be returning for a roast and I’d like to visit for a regular dinner.
BEST SUNDAY ROAST we have ever tried We had the sirloin steak and every single side was delicious. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. It's a more expensive roast than at other pubs but believe me that the small extra cost is more than worth it! We had oysters for a starter that were so tasty and the over all experience was incredible. Highly recommend!! We paid around 90-100 per person including oysters for starters, the sirloin steak and dessert and a really nice bottle of wine!
The food at the Parakeet was amazing. We tried a few different dishes, as we were recommended to share them, and they were all delicious, the flavours, the presentation, the amount of food was perfect, we finished all the food. I really enjoyed the oysters, the lamb and the steak, which I highly recommend, but everything was perfect. They also have a big variety of cocktails from the menu, but they also offer the classic cocktails. The staff was also lovely and very attentive, Adam, who was our waiter was great. I highly recommend The Parakeet.
Delicious food, great and quick service. The place is a bit smokey inside because the kitchen is semi-open and they cook their steak on fire! Best pickled vegetables I tried anywhere else in London, lamb dish was incredible too.
So we have tried to book a table at this restaurant for several weeks with no availability. Today we dropped in for a drink and tried to see if they could squeeze us in (we where flexible on time ) we'll I was amazed from a high end hospitality background I can honestly say the food was great but its the amazing staff that made our experience amazing ❤️ the manager was more than great and Peter who was out waiter well what can I say amazing made our day very spacial. Was the best dining experience I have ever had well done to all the staff could not fault any of you. Thank You and will see us as regular quests moving ❤️
We had the potato bread, house pickles, woodfired oysters, cod shoulders, mutton chop, John Dorey and chocolate mousse. Everything was very good. The restaurant area is very cosy and welcoming. The bar poured the best Guiness I’ve had in a while. Service was better than most high end restaurants considering this is a pub. I’ll be returning for the roast dinner on my next visit to camden
Ok the food is obviously amazing. Open fire, and an inventive menu that changes often — which is why we like to come back every couple of months. Most importantly however the hospitality is second to none. So rare to get such excellent service in London these days. We always feel so at home. Shout out to Federico who always looks after us so well :)
Our evening at this lovely pub started with a small moment of panic when I suddenly realised… it’s not a dog-friendly restaurant. Cue us standing at the door, friends already seated and ready to tuck in, while our four-legged companion was (quite reasonably) not invited to join the dinner party. We were just about to slink away in disappointment when Mathew, Phoebe (I hope I’ve got that right!) and Toto swooped in like absolute heroes. They worked their magic, found us a cosy table in the pub area, and even made an exception so we could still enjoy food together. And wow—what food. Honestly, the best I’ve ever had in a pub. Add a brilliant wine list and genuinely fantastic staff, and you’ve got a winning combination. We’ll definitely be back. Next time, though, I might leave the dog at home… lesson learned! Thank you!
We had a wonderful experience at The Parakeet Pub. The food was delicious — the char siu lamb, carrots and leeks were standouts. The service was warm and genuinely friendly. The team at the bar made us feel very welcome. As we weren’t quite sure how things worked in a London pub, they helped us get settled with a table and made the experience easy and comfortable. Their kindness is truly appreciated, and we’re very grateful for such hospitality.
Enjoyed their Sunday roast. Perhaps was on the smaller portion side for the price, but everything tasted decent. However nothing about it really blew us away. We ordered the potato bread starter, roast beef and chicken, a side of cauliflower cheese, as well as the famous chocolate mousse and sticky toffee pudding. Surprisingly, the vegetables and sticky toffee pudding were my favourite parts of the meal. Still, the decor was beautiful and service was outstanding! worth a visit.
Solid sunday roast! We tried the lamb, the chicken, the beef. Everyone voted that the beef was the best. For taste, I would say it was more on the bland versus flavorful side, but the condiments made it better. The beef was juicy and tender. Great atmosphere, packed on a sunday, bustling and busy. Service was a little bit on the slow slide, but everyone was super friendly and welcoming
I was very excited to try the Roast here as there is a huge hype on Instagram about it, but I was a bit disappointed. The potatoes were too dry and the cabbage lacked of flavour. The sirloin was nicely done however, just a tinny bit chewy and I had to order salt as it needed more flavour, not what I expected considering it costs £90. The cauliflower cheese was delicious as well as the chocolate mousse, the texture was brilliant! Maybe their regular menu for dinner is more exciting! The atmosphere is great and the place is beautiful. The staff is super friendly, although a bit too much, they keep checking if everything is good, instead of leaving you eat alone. Overall, nice place but not worthy the hype about the roast.
Gorgeous pub, pretty solid roast, minus 1 star because the quality of the beef wasn’t fantastic - very chewy and fatty, and difficult to cut, which was a shame, and they initially forgot one of our meals we ordered which was disappointing. Desserts were lovely. Service was pretty good apart from the aforementioned!
Food is always brilliant. Until our last time. Not sure what happened but sometimes it happens. Other than that - it’s a place I ate almost 10 times, it was always really nice. Also someone decided to poor the 100£ white wine quickly before mains arriving so we will order another bottle. See photo below. Under zero circumstances any glass of wine should be that full. It was extremely annoying and unprofessional.
I went to The Parakeet for a Saturday evening meal with no expectations, I hadn’t heard any hype or recommendations. The atmosphere inside was lovely, our waiter Sid was great and the cocktails were delicious. The restaurant was very smoky which I guess adds to the atmosphere(?) but I did come away from the evening smelling like I had been manning the bbq out back. Small plates usually make me sigh and accept I’ll need some credit card debt and a slice of toast when I get home, but these were actually quite good, especially the braised leeks. The larger sharing plates (fish and pork collar) were less successful as all I could taste was salt - I can’t recommend at their higher prices. My recommendation to others would be to stick to the smaller plates where you’ll find more interesting flavours and well executed dishes.
My first pub on my search for the best Sunday roast in London. We waited about 3 weeks for a table because it’s very popular! First I’ll say it’s a beautiful interior, with lively atmosphere and friendly, thoughtful, quick service. For a starter, we got the potato bread which was warm and the smoked butter was very fluffy and creamy, with a subtle smoked flavour. I loved the texture of the bread - great start to the meal. We chose the lamb and beef roast dinners with an extra side of cauliflower cheese - both were beautifully presented. The cauliflower cheese and cabbage were stand-out for me in flavour. The cabbage almost tasted like Caesar salad for the first bite - I loved it. The cauli cheese was so cheesy, and almost tasted like a stuffing at times. It was the best one I’ve had. The beef and lamb were both very good - some bites melted it my mouth and had a lot of flavour and others were a tiny bit chewy. The gravy was delicious and the horseradish sauce as well. The potatoes weren’t the best roasties I’ve had. They were hot and fluffy internally but they had a crust and didn’t have enough flavour or crispy glassiness. All in all it was a delightful experience and I would highly recommend it!
The pub is famed to be one of these popular Gastro pubs for lunch. We went for dinner as we couldn’t book an earlier table. Food, both fish & steak were good though I would not say exceptional. Atmosphere was nice, so was decor. I also like the service which was attentive & prompt. All I. All, a very good experience.
Lovely pub nestled in Kentish Town. The pub is lively, with a vintage vibe to it. The staff are welcoming and engaging. I absolutely adored the sticky toffee pudding with ice cream as it was sweet and gooey. The sunday roast was good overall- the potatoes were crunchy, the vegetables soft and well seasoned. However, I found the roast beef to be too thickly sliced for my liking, and slightly inconsistent in cooking within the pieces themselves.
Decent Sunday roast Quality beef nice veg but the whole lunch was a little under seasoned for me they may have been salt and pepper around I didn't ask so it could have been my fault. I will return for the sharing steak and other things on the menu look lovely. the dessert the chocolate mousse in particular very ritch but it was the best mousse I have ever had Over all I would return Guinness was decent Not blown away or to impressed but a decent roast
The restaurant is beautiful. I would’ve given this place 4 stars if it weren’t for the fact that the team did not bring us the side of greens that they provided for every table… the lack of attention to detail there was quite disappointing. The quality of the roast beef was lower than I expected. Not much flavor coming through from the gravy. I also had an extremely overcharred piece of garlic that got into the mix and was quite unpleasant to eat. The caluflower mash was good, not great, and wouldn’t need to get again. As for the potatoes, Some are too roasted, others not enough. If coming for a roast, I recommend the lamb instead. I would say the sticky toffee pudding was quite nice, but not the best I’ve had either. I would consider giving this place a second try, especially since the roast felt incomplete (literally, without the greens). Nevertheless, I appreciate the cordial and kind nature of our waitress. Props to her, despite the missing parts of the dinner.
We were very excited to visit the Parakeet for their Sunday roast as a lot of people say it's the best in London. This excitement transferred into disappointment throughout the course of the meal as we found every dish to be lacking adequate seasoning. We ordered the bread and butter, cods roe, pickled veg, beef and chicken roasts and a side of cauli cheese. We found every dish to be well cooked however it all need more salt: the butter, the cods roe, the gravy for the roasts (which was more like a jus than a nice smooth gravy) and also the cauli cheese which lacked any flavour of cheese at all. Overall we were let down by the meal to say the least but on the other hand the FOH were very attentive and welcoming and never let our glasses go dry which is always nice.
