Can’t understand 4.5 Stars, absolutely wonderful pub, the Sunday lunches are fantastic. We all had one of each from the menu, I had the shroom welly, must be one of the finest I have eaten, the guest IPA’s are beautifully kept, well done guys 🙏🏼 well worth ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ we will be BACK…! Thanks again
We dropped in for a quick diner, ending up discovering their extensive offer of beers and wines and essentially eating through the menu! Their menu showcase seasonal ingredients from some of the best English suppliers and it’s perfect for both sharing plates with friends or diner for two. Located in picturesque corner building in Bounds Green, The Prince’s charm & unique character have always endured, making it a true neighbourhood staple.
Had a few great local ales to start off including some north east beers which were great. The oysters were fresh, and the burger was bang on. Finished off with a sticky toffee pudding. Highly recommended!
Perfect oysters, mouthwatering chicken burger and a ginger pudding like a hug from your grandma. Simple things done incredibly well.
Decided to treat ourselves after a walk through the Parkland trail and this hasn’t disappointed! Great selection of beers from local breweries, stunning atmosphere, and the food was just 10/10. We had the short rib and port pie which had a delicate flavour and everything was accompanied by a massive portion of roasted veggies (loved the hispi cabbage). Thanks for the wonderful roast, will definitely be back!
🚇 Wood Green 🍺 £6.50 Yes IPA The Prince is located in Wood Green in North London. The nearest Tube is Wood Green. This handsome Victorian pub was built in 1870 and was originally known as The Prince of Wales. The pub has been through a turbulent time in recent years with multiple closures due to greed and poor management. A local community group succeeded in having the pub listed as an ACV in November 2015 and today the pub is on a firm footing. This is pub is run by the same good people over at @smallbeern8 in Crouch End. This is a two-roomed pub that has a rustic and contemporary feel. The main bar area is ‘L’ shaped with lots of low level tables, a boarded floor, informative chalkboards and an array of eclectic artwork adorning the walls. The servery is a good size and has detailed columns on the front and back bar. To the left of the main bar is a dining area which has plenty of seating, an exposed brick wall and stools around drinking ledges. Outside are a number of barrels with stools for imbibing alfresco. The beer selection is excellent and offers six cask ales and fourteen keg options. Most of the beers on offer are from independent breweries both local and from around the Uk. I decided to keep it local and opted for a Yes IPA from @goodnessbrew , the brewery is literally a ten minute walk from here. I thoroughly enjoyed my pint, price point was above average. The food menu is elevated Gastro fayre and fittingly receives rave reviews, Roasts are available on a Sunday. I arrived just before 5pm on a sunny but chilly Saturday afternoon in March. The pub was busy with a local crowd and an upbeat atmosphere. The service was first class, the team were welcome, friendly and knowledgeable about the Taplist. The @n22prince is a much loved and well supported Wood Green local that offers a superb range of beers and food. It just goes to show what the power of community can do to help secure a pub’s future. This stunning and welcoming pub is a must visit if you’re in the area. 📅 1st March 2025 More London pub info @londonpubmap 🍻
A truly excellent meal and exceptional service by the team. We were welcomed immediately on arrival, as walk-in guests for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon. As we were sitting down, a chilled jug of water and glasses were already being placed on the table. The staff were so memorably friendly and efficient. The menu was varied, and we opted for the bavette steak which came with the best chips I think we have ever enjoyed - perfectly crispy and fluffy in the middle - as well as the marjoram lamb skewers with a Greek salad. The food was exceptional. Fresh, chunky and beautiful ingredients, such as huge meaty olives in the Greek salad and large crumbly chunks of feta, and colourful red and green tomatoes. I can’t wait to return!
Great place for drink. Relaxed nice chilled atmosphere. Didn't eat but enjoyed the Luna stout. Sat outside in the park. Really cool. Lots of seating and outside heaters.
Sunday roast is best I’ve ever had! Large table of 12 people - impeccable service from friendly team that made us all feel Immediately at home. We tried all the starters which were exceptional and not your usual pub fare - you can tell they’ve put effort into sourcing great produce. The roast is the best you’ll find in london - perfectly cooked meat, crispiest potatoes, and a ridiculously good croquette. I would have the sticky toffee pudding and home made ice cream for my death row meal
A great pub with a very fine selection of craft beers, ciders, and wines, and spirits. I had a crafty 🍏, and my girlfriend had the Amos larger and lime, very 😋 tasty. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff , and a nice seating arrangement outside with heating. Very clean, very welcoming. A1 toilets👍. Highly recommend.
The Sunday roast is the best pub roast we've had in the local area. We were so impressed with the beef, we went back the following week and the pork did not disappoint either. My go to Sunday roast spot moving forward.
Always a pleasure to go to the Prince. Didn't have the food this time but previously excellent. Not cheap but very tasty. Beers were fairly priced. Under £5 for a pint of Railway Porter is decent. Always very good and chatty bar staff which is a bonus.
Had a great experience at the Prince. We ate some of the Mexican food that's available and it was amazing. Highly recommended the nachos. Also had the beef taco and pulled pork taco. The pudding is a bit dry and has a strong dark chocolate flavour but goes well with their jelly. Overall great place with a quirky ambience and helpful staff.
Had the best food n service. Lovely staff that were very cautious of my nut allergy for serving dessert. It was really lovely. I absolutely appreciated it. The pork belly was delicious. The taramasalata was yum, and the onglet steak was cooked to perfection. The chocolate brownie with banoffe ice cream was a great combination of added pistachio. My creme brulee could've been set a bit more, but it was still lovely.
Lovely little local tucked away next to a small grassy park. Food, although limited with a small menu, was amazing. Shockingly so as I didn’t know what to expect but the pate was clearly home made (or they have a supplier that does make it homemade?!) and tasty burger along with halloumi fries that were delicious.
Nice place for a drinks or for some food, the atmosphere is very nice, prices are correct and the staff is very nice !! They have grass just in front of the bar where you can seat and have your drink with your friends. I recommend and I’ll definitely go back there !
Home brewed beer is perfect match for handmade burger. They have an interesting burger menu, have you ever heard about Jackfruit Burger?
Great selection of beers and the food is very tasty . I’m gluten intolerant and the menu has a vast variety of options for me. The ambiance is good Will be coming back this week for sure
Delicious Lunch and customer service was great 👍
Awesome pub for a summer evening. Local feel to it, nice benches on the grass, and fun staff. Also great selection of beers which helps.
We had an impromptu dinner. As the restraint we booked was closed. The food atmosphere and staff we all great. They we very welcoming and the chef was very accommodating with small menu changes. The food itself was very tasty and well presented. The atmosphere is very relaxed but also welcoming and professional. I would definitely recommend and will be returning. Also as an aside the cocktails are great
Great selection of beers, including keg and cask. Usually at least 4 cask beers from a range of breweries on. The pub does show some football games too. There's a quieter area around the back that's more used for dining.
I had an incredible Sunday roast at this pub! The food was of excellent quality, and the service was top-notch. The flavours and presentation of the roast were spot on, and the staff made the experience even more enjoyable with their attentive service. Strong selection of beers too. I highly recommend this place for a delicious meal and a wonderful dining experience. Compliments to the chef.
Ate here last night for the first time in a while. Looks like there is a new chef and menu since last time. Food was great - quality ingredients, perfectly cooked and excellent service from the team. Very good selection of beers too. Cask Five Points Railway Porter was in perfect condition. Definitely recommended. Will be back soon.
Fantastic place. Very friendly staff and great atmosphere. Excellent selection of food and drinks. Lovely family run business. Definitely worth a visit. Amazing food! Best roast dinner ever. Fantastic wines! A definite must visit!
Came here for lunch with a few friends and was absolutely blown away by the menu. Particularly obsessed with the chicory, apple, and candied walnut salad, and the Blytheburg pork collar was perhaps the most perfectly cooked pork I've ever had. Bar snacks (esp the scotch egg) and desserts (esp the chocolate cremeux with olive oil though you won't beat the sticky toffee pudding either) equally unbelievable. Huge compliments to the chef literally let him cook. Can't recommend enough - come prepped to order the entire menu!
A great pub with excellent food, cask beers and friendly service. A carefully put together small menu, our best dishes were the confit potato, creme fraiche and roe and halibut with brown shrimps. A little more choice on the pudding front would have tempted us to spend more! A delicious meal with a fantastic selection of craft beers for my husband and Orange wine for me! We will definitely be back. Thank you
My real ale group booked a table at The Prince last Thursday. What an array of cask ales. The personnel were very professional and supportive. We had an enjoyable evening but werevthere to taste the ales so didn't eat. Will go again.
I am so happy we hosted our post wedding celebrations for 20 people at our local pub: The Prince. The staff went above and beyond to make our celebrations so special. The food was absolutely incredible. We had many vegetarians and my nan was gluten free and Jonah made some of the best food I’ve tasted! The vegetarian sausage roll was immense! Before our wedding day Jonah talked through all the food options over the phone and was really lovely. Some of our family were unfortunately late to the celebrations because of an emergency, and the team even extended our private area beyond the allocated time, to ensure we could enjoy our wedding cake with them, when they arrived. Myself and my husband want to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone at The Prince for a really special day and hosting our wedding party.
Second weekend in a row coming to The Prince for lunch because the food is that good!! Last Saturday we came in for lunch. Ordered a LOT - everything was great but would especially recommend the confit potato with trout roe, the Blythburgh pork collar, and I loved the beef tartare despite not usually being a beef tartare girly. Also, the scotch egg is the by far the best scotch egg you will ever eat, I would eat this daily if I could. Came in again today for our Easter Sunday lunch and again everything was perfect! Service on point (they even had a spare scotch egg which they brought out for us even though it wasn't meant to be on the menu). I had the rolled hogged with mint sauce which was perfectly cooked, lovely lovely Yorkshires and gravy. Make sure to leave room for pudding because the chocolate cremeux and sticky toffee pudding are maybe the best desserts I've had in London. Even the rice pudding is fab, and I'm not a rice pudding fan. Love love love The Prince, couldn't recommend more!
Well what a great night. Impromptu visit to this pub. Down from Lincolnshire visiting family who live nearby so decided to meet up and have a casual drink. Ended up joining the weekly pub quiz and though we didn't fair too well in the quiz. What a fantastic night we had. All the staff were so welcoming and friendly and made you feel like you were a regular. A great local boozer atmosphere with a wide selection of craft beers, a couple of which I tried and enjoyed. The food looked really good though we didn't try any but appears to be very popular and prices were really fair. Had a chat with manager as we left to thank home for the lovely experience and give him some positive feedback about his staff and he was very welcoming and explained how he had built the business up with this vision and ethnic of wanting to create this friendly local atmosphere. Well definitely be visiting again the next time we're down. Other businesses could learn alot from this simple but effective business model.
Proper boozer! Amazing local and far fetching beer and ale. Prepare to spend a few bob! However worth it. Then there is a surprise. Amazing food! Well run and great service. Food is a super bonus. Definitely recommend.
Great family friendly pub, great collection of drinks, friendly staff and great atmosphere
Hands down the best pie I’ve ever had. Had some really interesting beers too. will definitely be back!
Super find in an area I wasn't familiar with before. Guests are allowed to use the greenspace outside, which is great because inside space seemed limited. Nice selection of (craft) beers on tap, and friendly bar staff.
The best scotch egg I've ever eaten. Great service and nice wine.
Popped in here when we were looking for a pub that served food. Expected the usual pub grub but this ended up being a top tier experience. Every beer on tap is different to what you would find in most other pubs. Local beers with some small batch beers from further afield. Had the Luna nitro stout which was great. Ordered the smash burgers with chips and oh my goodness… I was not expecting this level of quality and taste. Hands down the best chips I’ve ever had. Loads of flavour, the absolute best crunch possible without drying the interior of the chip. Burger was immense. So incredibly simple but executed perfectly! This pub is a total gem and worth the effort for the burger and chips alone. 10/10
Massive range of on tap beer and cider, some quite expensive but good to have choice. Great atmosphere inside and plenty of tables; feels very cosy and intimate without it being squashed or cramped. Having the option of more casual outdoor seating just for a drink is also lovely- being able to borrow a picnic blanket and sit on the green is delightful. I've had better Sunday roasts but other food / desserts I've had here have been wonderful.
Great atmosphere for drinks and a meal. The staff were attentive and friendly. The roast beef was underwhelming since it was reminiscent of cold cuts and not a proper roast. The carrots were not roasted enough and the pork belly was burnt on the skin. For the price it could have been better. They don’t have pink gin but instead grapefruit pink gin. All in all, one of the better pubs in wood green/bounds green.
Upscale, chic pub - beautiful British fare and lovingly selected brews on tap. There are no traditional cozy corners - it’s a bench and bare brick, wooden dining chair, black painted floors, industrial lighting and excellent art kind of spot. I’ve eaten here before and the food is gorgeous and seasonal. Pricey but not much more and it’s worth it. Nice touches and good taste all round. Beautiful soaps, moisturisers and candles in the ladies - even the hand sanitizer is a herbal pleasure to use. Lovely staff too. The only criticism is I do miss the comfy seating of a “proper pub”. None of the seating is cozy or comfy.
4.25 stars. Great pub with some outdoor seating (high seats). Book to get a table outside on a sunny day. If it's too crowded grab some takeaways and sit in the park. Great selection of beers. Bar snacks were quality. Friend staff. Took off .75 stars as the kitchen proper didn't open until after 4pm.
Great and welcoming local pub. They have a good range of lagers, ales, pilsner and cider. Very welcoming to dogs and dog owners too.
Tasty food with friendly service. The chicken burger was delicious
Food was extremely high quality even if the portions weren't that big, but still big enough. The staff were great, friendly, diligent and knowledgeable. I was served by a new member of staff and even though she was learning she was extremely helpful, tried hard and was very polite and friendly. Quite a lot of children at the time of visit , which can be a good or bad thing depending on what you are looking for, I quite liked it.
Top Sunday roast. 7 very happy eaters. Lovely service. We all agreed this was the best roast out we'd had in a while. Very good food. Tables not rammed together like they are in other venues. Definitely recommend.
I really like the atmosphere, the staff is super friendly and helpful. Good food as well, very simple menu. I recommend it for draft beers.
Been here a few times and it's been disappointing every time for one reason or another. The food has been pretty average both in taste and portion size especially when compared to the price. Being a relatively small pub too I feel they've tried to cram too many tables in. It can get busy, especially when there's some sort of private party in the rear and that really affects the overall service of the rest of the pub. I'd booked a table for five people and we were made to squeeze onto a four seater after having to wait for 15 mins past the booking time. If you just go for a drink or two and it's not busy then it's fine, but if it's busy then it's a gamble.
Went here for a family get together. Nice place but was ignored waiting at the bar for quite a while which seemed strange as it was virtually empty. I ordered the rump steak £26 but when I asked wasn’t given an option as to how I wanted it cooked was told it came medium rare like all steaks! When it came, it had been cut into slices but was raw. I had to send it back to be cooked. It reappeared more or less the same and although I did my best to eat it was inedible. I said to the waiter it was the worst steak I’d ever been served. The salad and sides were fine as was the pudding. Very much doubt it was rump steak instead a much cheaper cut that needed to be cooked at least medium well. I was quite annoyed to have been treated this way and don’t like to complain but felt I had to.
On the 1st of January I went with a group of friend to have the first roast of the year at the prince since usually is a very good one. We all ordered the same dish, pork belly roast but mine, differently from the others that looked well cooked was raw. I made it present to see me if the waiter that showed it to the chef. They brought me the plate back saying that it was perfectly cooked and nothing was abnormal. As you can see the pork is t cooked and it’s not safe to eat raw pork meat so I didn’t eat it. They didn’t offered to change the dish or either a discount. Very disappointed since I’ve always had very good experiences.
Waited 45mins from sitting down until food was served. I didn't mind as much as it was a Sunday and the pub was busy. However the meal was substandard. I choose the beef which was tough and inedible. Only two potatoes were offered and a bizarre half a cabbage which took up half the plate. Terribly overpriced at £26 for an awful roast beef dinner.
