£1 oysters on Saturday, what more could you ask for. Large oysters, good complementary sauce, lemon, Tabasco. Drinks a little on the spenny, as are chips (£6!!), soda bread, croquettes, all good. Crab linguine good but not a big portion. We came for my birthday and they gave me a little birthday truffle dessert which was cute. Atmosphere is nice. Service friendly.
Two hungry teenagers and I sat in a booth and had a dozen super fresh oysters and more importantly wonderful service and advice on oyster selection. The other dishes were tasty and well prepared - octopus and ceviche starters excellent and the cooked dishes were nicely done too. Good skinny fries! The restaurant is small and simple, good for a casual but high quality seafood meal.
It's a great restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere! A reservation is a must. First, I had the oysters with a glass of Piper- Heidsieck. I enjoyed a delicious prawn linguine with a second glass of champagne. My server, Olivier, was pure joy. He’s the best!!! He managed all the tables with a smile and still had time to chat with his customers genuinely. He’s energetic and kind and gave me great suggestions. I highly recommend this restaurant. I ended my meal with a housemade crème brûlée.
We went for lunch after visiting the Natural History museum. We have been greeted by Larissa who showed us a table, but after noticing that we were looking at a different seat, she offered that one instead. That was a really nice touch. I have been few years ago to the Borough Market branch and I had great time, and I can happly say that my experience in South Kensington was also memorable (Probably even better!). We shared some small plates, everything was beautifully presented, well paired and cooked to perfection. The Octopus had almond flakes that were a really pleasant match, it was crispy on the outside and soft inside. Tiger prawns were served with a delicious Romesco, the only minus was that needed to be peeled and deveined (finger bowl was however provided as part of their mise en place). The scallops were the absolute star. Seared perfectly, meaty and juicy. Simply stunning. Diego, the bartender, recccomanded their House Bloody Mary, it was gently spiced, balanced and came with an oyster on top. Amazing! We also were allowed to try couple of wines before getting a carafe and their Viogner; it was perfect for our meal: dry, mineral and served at a perfect temperature. Both Larissa and Diego looked after us for the entire meal in a professional, knowledgeable and kind way. We felt a great atmosphere in the restaurant as soon as walked in. They both embrace a great culture of passionate Hospitality, something that lately is beginning to miss in London. Thank you for the fantastic meal and afternoon and well done to both FoH and BoH!!!
Went to the mermaid bar for £1 oysters. Sweet atmosphere/tunes/vibe. Service was unbelievable, especially getting served by the G.O.A.T. Juan, serious cocktail knowledge, drinks were genuinely unbelievable. Oysters were fantastic - I had 48. Allegedly someone on Friday had 130, fair play to them. I know when I’m beat.
The place is amazing but the mermaid bar in the basement is on another level. Juan is the protagonist and made our experience unforgettable. Larissa also helped and made sure we didn’t lack of anything. What really stood out was their professionalism combined with a warm personality. Our glasses were never empty, everything came out perfectly timed, and they made sure we were completely satisfied without ever feeling rushed. It’s rare to find service this good these days. I would recommend this place without a single doubt. The oyster happy hour is something you should not miss if you’re around !!
Charming Spot with a Great Oyster Happy Hour Very nice place! Came for the oyster happy hour and wasn’t disappointed—6 tasty oysters for just £6, can’t beat that. Left feeling very happy. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. It’s a fairly small spot, which adds to the cozy charm. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the mood for fresh oysters and good vibes.
Wright Brothers seafood restaurant has some amazing and delicious choices on the menu. Everything we tried was exceptional and the team is warm, friendly and helpful. There’s a great ambience and perfect for our small intimate celebration. The best part - £1 a pop oysters. I didn’t know I could manage 70! and they were perfect along with the Tuna and a few glasses of chilled wine.
Went to the Mermaid for oysters happy hour before dinner, very cozy place. the service we received from the lovely Alexandra was absolutely phenomenal. She was bubbly and took really good care of us. Oysters were amazing as well, enjoyed a total of three dozen for the three of us, great time. Will definitely be back next time.
We popped in for a quick lunch while visiting the museums nearby and what a treat it was! The service was warm and friendly and the food was just lovely. If you’re a fan of oysters at all, you’ll love this place. They’re all shucked to order and it’s a great selection from the UK and France. Special tip: make sure you order the Bloody Mary - possibly one of the best I’ve had ever!
We had a lovely dinner and truly appreciated how accommodating the chef was for my gluten intolerance. The portions were quite generous as was the staff in celebrating my nieces engagement. What a lovely surprise she was gifted. We will be back whenever we visit London!
We visited the Wright Brothers South Kensington branch and were truly impressed. Our server, Laresa, was incredibly professional a level of service that’s becoming rare in London these days. The food was outstanding: the mackerel pâté, fish and chips, crab linguine, and sticky toffee pudding were all exceptional. Highly recommended!
Wow! The level of service and care was like no other. Tentative table service from Hibba, then Juan with the mixes, cocktails that lifted the expectations of the room. Thank you. Thank you so much. We loved our visit and will return as often as possible
The oysters were absolutely incredible – fresh and flavorful. Each bite was a real treat. The staff was warm and friendly, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. I will definitely be coming back and highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for delicious oysters and great hospitality!
OmG just wonderful. Who doesn't like champagne and oysters? However, what a range of oysters to choose from! Fabulous service and excellent menu plus daily seafood specials caught literally a few hours ago. Will most definitely be back very soon...it was just too good.
Just finished a most delicious meal at Wright Brothers. Enjoyed the pre-6pm special of oysters for a £1 each. Followed that with the incredible sea bass ceviche, which should be a main as well. So delicious. And ended with the fresh baked Madeleines with lemon cream. What a meal. And the service was fantastic. Thanks Larissa for all the wonderful recommendations. Can’t wait to come back on my next visit to London.
A really rather nice fish restaurant. Probably as fresh as you can get. Loved the fish pie. Syllabub was beautiful. Not a fan of oysters but my partner in food enjoyed them and the rather wonderful hake. Definitely recommended
Happy hours oyster only 1£ each, not too big but fresh enough. And the scollop and fish soup were good 😊
We are so very excited to have discovered this gem of a place. We loved every single dish as it was so fresh and delicious, with plenty of choices to pick from. Top that with a great wine list, yummy walnut carrot cake for desert and impeccable service and you got yourself a top shelf night, just like we did. A little on the pricey side but definitely worth it if you’re into great food and charismatic French staff that aim to please. The crowd was mixed, which is always comforting and the restaurant quite busy so do think about booking before you arrive. We will return, no doubt!
Bartender juan fabulous 5 Star service Oyster is fresh food is excellent
Such a beautiful british place to have some great fish and chips. I am not the biggest fish fan, but theirs was definitely one of the best. Recommend!
Fabulous oysters the Irish ones outstanding and the scallops were simply divine and out of this world, big meaty and perfectly presented. The Brixham special Gurnard fillet with cuttle fish ragu was delicious. The Thornback Ray perfection with sides of spring greens and the most flavoursome baby new potatoes. Followed by sumptuous deserts. The cocktails oh my heavenly. Lyes the perfect host . Ambiance relaxed and welcoming.Thank you for making such a special time.
We had the oyster deal, they were fresh and tasty. We also had the prawn linguini and octopus dish. Both were really good, especially the octopus were cooked to perfection, crispy outside and very soft inside. We werent expecting much other than the oysters but the food exceeded our expectations.
I’ve been going to Wright Brothers frequently for the past 8 years and I never had a bad experience - always amazing. This evening we went to the bar downstairs for some oysters and drinks and were served by Juan. Juan was amazing, recommended the best drinks to go perfectly with the oysters. It was my first time at the bar but definitely not the last.
We had the pleasure of dining tonight in South Kensington and were thoroughly impressed. The service was excellent, and the food was of high quality and very fresh. Although the restaurant is small, it offers an impressive diversity of wines and food. The menu is thoughtfully crafted, and we were pleased to see that it includes vegetarian options. We thoroughly enjoyed this brunch and would be delighted to return whenever we are next in London. During our one-week visit, this has been by far the best dining experience we’ve had recently.
My partner and I celebrated a special occasion here as we love martinis and oysters. Juan took great care of us from start to finish. All the drinks were impeccable, we tried so many cocktails. The Neptune cocktail was a standout. We will be back !
The mermaid bar was amazing for oyster happy hour, Juan was super friendly and shared some good tips for london. Good atmosphere to relax :)
I am speechless at the experience. Juan and Alfie made a nice quiet anniversary into one of the best restaurant experiences I’ve ever had. They spent lots of time with us and talked through all our drinks and were genuinely interested all the time. A team of people who love what they do. A night I won’t forget.
Fabulous, cosy neighbourhood eatery with a good atmosphere. Staff were lovely, attentive and chatty in a friendly not forced way, they genuinely seemed to care about the business and the diners. Thank you, Tigerlily and Ariana. The food was great. The pound a pop oyster deal was great, starters were great ( wonderfully fluffy, light batter on the tempura prawns). My crab linguine with rocket was unbelievably tasty, no scrimping on the crab! Wine was good and so was my ice cream. I live in Manchester but if I lived in Kensington, I'd be there every week!
Wow wow wow, everyone we go to a wright bros place we are so well looked after! The Kensington mermaid bar is great, Juan looked after us all evening. Will be back and definitely recommend
My friend and I happened upon Wright Brothers restaurant and it did not disappoint. We were in the mood for seafood and we were pleasantly surprised with our dining experience. We were able to enjoy a three course meal with expertly made martinis as well. The food was flavorful while maintaining the focus on the seafood. I would definitely eat here again and recommend it to anyone in visiting South Kensington.
Came to this restaurant for a quick meal on a walk in basis. Service was friendly, swift and attentive. Atmosphere reminded me of a French style bistro. Food was good although serving sizes were on the smaller side. We had the Wright Brothers selection of Oysters and Scallops for starters and then the mussels and king prawn linguine for mains. Wouldn't mind coming back in the future.
If you love fresh seafood, this is the place for you. We went for dinner with our kids (8 and 10) so they could try some fresh seafood, and we were very happy with the experience. The full house plate was amazing! It had cold clams, shrimp (with the shell), big snails, whole crab, mussels, and fresh oysters. Everything was super good, except the snails were a bit too chewy. The mussels dish was excellent and quickly served. The kids loved their linguine pasta and the fish and chips.
Cute little place, but was practically empty around 8pm. Booth is very small and uncomfortable. Food was a hit and miss. Pint of shrimps were a bit boring taste wise, oysters were tiny and a bit watery, ceviche was delicious and well seasoned, rest as pictured were nice. Crème brulée was a disaster, it was very soupy and we were told that it hadn't set yet. Don't serve if it's not ready. Staff were polite, not overly attentive but I personally prefer not to be constantly interrupted during dinner so this worked well for me. I would not make the effort of going again, but if I was in the area I might pop in.
Really low key but wonderful Fish restaurant on the main South Kensington part of Brompton Road. Ive walked Brompton road many times but didn’t notice it until i was taken there. Was greeted warmly and the staff were friendly and attentive all evening. They also have a bar downstairs which we didn’t try. Maybe next time! Anyway, we had huge chilled seafood platter, with a whole large crab, ½ lobster, prawns, whelks. Beautifully presented on a two tier platter on ice. Oysters were at the top arranged in a circle with a kind of onion vinaigrette and lemons. All super fresh and high quality. £110 for the platter. It was my first type trying oysters and i was pleasantly surprised, and weren’t chewy and with the onion vinaigrette topping had a fresh taste. I dont really like crab and would’ve preferred a larger portion of lobster but overall this meal was a perfect end to a spring evening.
Wright Brothers offers £1 oysters every week, making for a delightful and affordable experience. The oysters, while not the best I’ve ever had, are excellent for their price. The cozy atmosphere adds to the charm, making it a great spot to enjoy a budget-friendly treat.
We were in the mood for some oysters, and this is THE spot. Very small, but the oysters were amazing and fresh. Great location with many dining and drinking choices close by.
I love this place!!!!! Fresh and delicious fish and seafood. The oysters are so good and come with different dressings. Lovely to sit outside for oysters and wine in the summer! My only request would be for gluten free fries!!!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. Smoked Haddock Chowder was the good. Spot on great Tempura prawns were the bad. Under cooked batter was greasy & the Thai sauce was flavourless. (Couldn't eat it) Side salad was the ugly. Yes, fresh greens piled high on a tiny plate that guaranteed that it would go everywhere...and it did. We gave up trying to eat it. The staff was very polite but we came for the food not the staff.. We would not come back.
Recommend: Lovely selection of very fresh oysters. Deep-fried oysters were excellent. The scallops were absolutely delicious. The prawn in the linguine were perfectly cooked. Not recommend: Clams were disappointing - very small portion size and the sauce didn't pair well with clams. Plates took a long time to be cleared between courses. The cooked dishes took a long time to arrive. Surprising for a midweek dinner seating.
Was sat downstairs in a dingy area that isnt suitable for a restaurant. Service poor as its the barman who serves. Worst of all we had to move because it smelt like sewers coming from the manhole right next to our table. Disgusting. The haddock was terrible as well
