Great service and food. Love going here for a quick meal with my boyfriend. Whether you get breakfast, lunch, or dinner, it’s one of the best diners near Long Beach. Love the old school/authentic vibe. We’re here at least 1x a week!
Really enjoyed this meal. It was a great “diner” experience. Food was good and atmosphere was authentic retro. And you felt like a local and 1000 miles from the big apple. Love this part of New York.
Tried it with some friends, loved it and we go back twice a month. Great diner with nice atmosphere, staff super nice. I have had the sandwiches, hot open face turkey, salads and 🍨....very good
Good diner. Well organized courtesy of the head waitress making sure patrons get seated quickly even when it's busy. Coffee is decent to get you on your way. Great breakfast options. I order a healthy omelet with sides.
We really enjoyed our stop at the Laurel Diner for breakfast. Fast, pleasant and attentive service in a classic diner setting. I had a grilled corn muffin, old-fashioned home fries, bacon and hot chocolate. Just a few minutes from entry to seating to ordering to having hot food on the table. Excellent.
Picture the best old school diner and then add healthy food, too. We love this place because the staff is really friendly, the food is excellent, and it's very laid back. But something unexpected is that one person can be having a world-class burger and shake while the other person is sticking to their diet and both can walk out saying "that was really good we should come here more." Always a lot of people but have never waited more than 5 mins for a table so they do a nice job keeping it moving.
First time going to this diner but it will definitely NOT be my last. Delicious food, great service & easy on your pockets! Not to mention the historic pictures of Long Beach boardwalk on the walls that gives a nostalgic feel to the place. I love it’s retro vibe & old school diner feel. Love this place!
This place is fantastic! The food was great as always. I asked for almond milk with my coffee and they had just ran out. The young man behind the counter went out and purchased some for me. That is service at its finest.
It's always a pleasure to eat here. A few members of the waitstaff might need a refresher course in customer service and possibly a refresher course in being polite. The morning Hostess is very sweet and she makes the wait time go by faster. The morning staff at the counter are great, fast and POLITE. The cashiers always have a smile on and they are also POLITE. Old fashion French toast is the absolute best in town!
Enjoyed the Elvis Pancakes (with banana and peanut butter) because they were balanced and not over the top. Server was great. Iced coffee was meh watered down, iced up diner coffee.
Came on a Saturday night to have dinner with family after a long day at the beach. The place was packed and there were a lot of people waiting. However, we didnt wait too long and got seated in a few by a kind lady. Then I realized why this place is busy; Not only is the food delicious but the staff are super friendly. Everyone from the busser, the waiter, all the way to the cashier gave such a welcoming vibe that it gave my family an great dining experience. After our meal, the waiter asked our 4 year old directly what he liked for dessert. As a toddler, he wanted ice cream with the silliest topings, and they gave it to him! Will go back when we return to Long Beach.
Chicken parm was one of the best I've ever had. It had 3 massive delicious chicken cutlets on top of a mound of pasta with tasty melted cheese on top. It fed 3 of us. The burger was also delicious, as mentioned in other reviews. Price is right, incredible value here for the quality. Deep menu, super fast service.
As a local this place is my go to for brunch. Food came quick and hot.
The coffee is absolutely delicious. I enjoyed the atmosphere, which was very clean and organized. I ordered the skirt steak and eggs. The food was absolutely delicious, the skirt steak was marinated and seasoned well. The coffee was of excellent quality, hot and delicious. The service was great and attentive. This diner definitely leaves you full, and coming back again for more!
This place is always packed and for a very good reason. The atmosphere, service and food, IMO are the best in Long Beach. I've had a great meal, everytime I've been there.
Upon reading reviews I expected weak coffee. Coffee did not disappoint; it was delish. Ordered the signature pancakes (banana) with bacon. Excellent. I'm here on business, and if I return to LB, I will visit again! 3 stars for atmosphere as it's tiny inside. But perhaps that's the allure?
Yesterday I went too laurel diner to celebrate my surprise birthday party. They made me and my friends feel so welcome and the food came so quickly. I ordered fries and all American burger and it was very good. They sang happy birthday to me and they gave a free cookie. Definitely would recommend this place.
Great fresh cozy yummy breakfast. Best home fries on the planet!! Oh and the homemade breads with fresh creamy butter! YUM. Servers and staff are always so pleasant! Our breakfast go to 4 eva! 😊
I had the best burger ever last night with a side of sweet potato fries crisped to perfection. Whenever you don’t know what to eat - go to The Laurel Diner, you will be so happy you did.
Popular, classic LB establishment! Good service, wide variety of food choices for anytime of day, large portions. A must stop!
Outstanding as always. From seating to eating everything was exceptional. I brought a friend from FLA.who also travels extensively and remarked who hard it is to find a place that executes the perfect sunnyside up right to which he said "I think I've found it'! My patty melt was perfect and as ordered. Everything was piping hot. Being as we haven't seen each other we weren't in a rush so we spent quite a bit of time conversing and catching up and were never rushed. And none of that annoying hovering by the wait staff. Perfect all the way around. Kudos to the staff and take note management. In this high tech environment common human courtesy and respect are a rarity in the service industry nowadays. Keep it up.
This is such a great place. We had a large group two days in a row. They accommodated us without any problem. The woman who seated us (might be the owner?) Was so fantastic! The waitresses and waiters. Busboys etc. The refills on water and coffee kept coming without having to ask. The food is great. I had the lumberjack with blueberry pancakes. Perfect pancakes with that tiny crisp and fluffy and delicious. Then the next day the mexicana omelet. My sister had the stuffed french toast and she loved it. two children ordered pancakes to share (which they devoured) and the waitress split the order without even asking so they each had a plate and no fuss over who got the bigger pancake.
Warm welcome everytime ....we enjoy going as a small group often and usually bring someone new to experience the friendly atmosphere...service and amazing food and choices. *staff is kind, ...and you can see they enjoy working there.
Dive into an extraordinary culinary adventure at Laurel Diner – it's simply celestial! The journey to this gem is an investment that pays off in spades. Immerse yourself in an ambiance that's nothing short of electrifying, where every bite is a revelation. I had the pleasure of savoring "The Duke," and my partner indulged in the crab cakes, bursting with genuine crab meat that elevates the experience to a whole new level. If you find yourself roaming the vibrant streets of Long Beach, LI, make a beeline for Laurel Diner. Trust me, it's a decision you'll celebrate with every tantalizing forkful.
I ran in here to grab a quick bite in the time between the am train and my office shuttle. I got a breakfast sandwich and it hit the spot!!! Additionally the staff was exceptionally kind and very efficient- I think that order took no more than 5 minutes from when it was placed to when it was ready. I would definitely recommend Laurel Diner to anyone!
We had a very large group coming in. They made sure we had a large enough area to sit together. The staff were very accommodating and friendly with the chaos of 15+ people ordering and splitting checks. The food was delicious. Everyone loved what they ordered! Just an overall great experience! Thank you!!!
Very nice food and warm customer service. Thank you. Be back again.
Great spot for a breakfast or brunch, dinner, too. This feels like a 1940s diner in the best way possible. Service was impeccable. Coffee refilled as soon as it was low. Hot tip: order breakfast potatoes well done. Crispy and delicious.
Had a bite to eat here before work one morning last week. I was having a rough morning and the server was super sweet. I don’t remember her name, but she was lovely. The gentleman at the register was very friendly, and we chatted a bit when I paid my bill. This is the first time in a very, very long time that I have been to a diner where the cooks actually knew how to make a poached egg. Sounds silly, but it’s true! It came out perfect. The whole meal was delicious. I don’t have many reasons to be in that area of Long Island, but when I am you can bet I’ll be back.
Going 45 minutes out of the way was great. The atmosphere was like anold time diner. The food was great, plentiful and hot. Coffee perfect. The staff was great. Now I know why the place was busy
Was up in the area for the death of a friend. Purposely made sure to visit the laurel diner while I was in town. I had the steak tid bit sandwich and a drink. $33.00 plus tip and when I went to pay my bill they didn’t even thank me for my business. $40.00 dollars for a sandwich. I’m not going back. You should appreciate my business.
We had a large group (25+) and they accommodated us. Service was solid, food and portions were great, location along the strip ideal for parking. Definitely would recommend and patronize again.
I’m a huge breakfast fan. Being in a band for so long, we also frequented our fair share of diners over the years. This place is definitely a Long Island staple so I don’t need to substantiate it...but I will. Hands down I can tell you, this is the BEST French toast I have ever eaten. The staff are great, it fills up pretty quick but can hold a lot of people. Cool spot on Main Street means great location for fueling up and then going to do other errands. It’s also not too far from the beach either. Love love love this place.
It was a beast breakfast for last 5 years. Super friendly atmosphere. Almost feels like in 80's movies. Great friendly staff, super big menu selections. It is American classic. I am ordered breakfast poutin.... and as my taste it was one of the best poutin outside of Canada. Crispy, golden French fry with layers of cheese and topped eggs... it is taste like a heaven. Huge portion enough for two or for real French fry lover. Absolutely fantastic. Very recommend.
Haven’t been here in awhile but the service was good and even though they were busy we got seated right away and it didn’t take long for our food to arrive. A good mix of people were in the dinner of all ages and backgrounds. Kinda like a sample of who the people of Long Beach are.
We got the corn beef hash and eggs, cinnamon roll pancakes, bacon egg and cheese sandwhich, and motz sticks. Everything was really good! Classic diner food! The corned beef was perfect right out of a can like i like it. The scrambled eggs were also good! Only thing is it was pretty expensive for pretty standard but good diner food
Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures but this place is phenomenal. I was born and raised in Long Beach and loved coming here. Now I live out of state but always make sure to come back every time I am in town. I highly recommend the French toast as it is cooked using fresh challah bread. If you enjoy chocolate like I do add Nutella to it. They also have the best egg creams in Long Beach. The service is very good and friendly. The portion sizes are good but the prices are a bit higher than other similar places. Regardless I will come back every time I am in town
Excellent diner. The vibe is perfect, interior is delightfully retro. Food of course is good with huge portions. Wait staff are great too, my coffee cup was never less than half full unless I said no thanks. I was a solo diner in for breakfast and was lucky enough to have a brief conversation with a group of local ladies in for breakfast also. It sums up the feel of the diner. It felt like not just somewhere to grab food, but a meeting point for the community.
The staff is always so accommodating, and friendly- you feel like family when you’re here. Our waiter Kleanthis K. and the hostess made sure our 1 year old son had something entertaining, offered to bring kid friendly items and just went above and beyond in every sense. Not to mention the food is phenomenal, I got the gouldberg burger this time and the skirt steak the last time. Skirt steak is probably one of the best I’ve had (seriously don’t knock it until you try it). The burger was delicious with a side of sweet potato fries *chefs kiss*. Will def be back
Old school diner. Lively. Good solid diner food. In fact too much food. Huge portions. If you get the French toast I learned a trick - have it sliced thin (you can ask as they hand slice the Challah bread!). Easier to eat and less daunting in size 😂 delicious in either format!
The person who brought us assured us that we would get 3 days worth of food, and she was right. And she especially recommended a particular pressed sandwich. I had salmon with veggies and it was exquisite. The wait staff was polite and attentive. Food was great. Froze my portion for another day.
Delicious food! Hardworking staff! Cool decor. We were seated fast on a very busy Sunday. This is an excellent dining option in this area and was an outstanding way to start our morning. Tasty mimosa, generous amounts of coffee, and the tuna salad platter was fresh, so good, and huge! Try it out!
Clean, organized, friendly, fast......looking for a diner with a retro vibe, diner classics but some new takes on old favorites - get yourself to Laurel Diner PRONTO! We have never, ever had a bad meal, never had poor service and while the weekends can present a wait for a table - the wait is rarely too long. Having said that - the wait is definitely worth it. Run - don't walk to this special place that has become one of our favorite places not only in Long Beach but as for a diner on the entire South Shore of Nassau County. Can't say enough positive things about this homey yet professional diner.
It’s easy to see why this place is a neighborhood favorite. The food and the service are phenomenal. You can’t go to a diner in New York and not have breakfast. The pancakes were light and fluffy and tasty. I also tried the French Toast on the recommendation of our waitress and it was delicious. My coffee cup was always full thanks to the attentive staff that seemed to work together like a well coordinated team. The art deco interior is a pleasant departure from the flashy neon kitschyness of most other diners. It was just the right balance of style and comfort that contributes to a wonderful experience.
Excellent breakfast spot a few blocks from the Long Beach train station and beautiful beach and boardwalk. A must-see majestic interior that brings you back in time. They have an inside counter and booth seating. Outside, they have sidewalk tables primarily shaded in the AM. The staff are serious and hard-working and know their food so ask for a recommendation Excellent menu, good coffee, and food. Large platters.

Best burger I've had outside of my home or in a Manhattan steakhouse in more than a decade, and awesome service and waiter too! My teen daughter had the chicken nuggets about which she couldn't believe how good and fresh they were - and likewise the fries were fresh and were perfect. The coleslaw and pickles were put on the table like in a Jewish deli and were delish. It was certainly a very welcoming and nice touch. Place was immaculate.
Good, fast service and the atmosphere was pretty good for a diner.
We recently enjoyed brunch at this diner, and it was a satisfying experience. The food was good, and the service was prompt and friendly. Our order included a grilled chicken sandwich with perfectly crispy fries, a hearty serving of eggs, and a flavorful chicken salad wrap. The grilled chicken in the sandwich was tender and well-seasoned, making it a delightful choice. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, an excellent complement to the sandwich. The eggs were cooked to our liking and added a traditional touch to our brunch. The chicken salad wrap was fresh and had a delightful mix of flavors. The menu offered a diverse selection to cater to various tastes. While the ambiance was typical of a diner, the tasty food and attentive service made our visit enjoyable. We would recommend this spot for a satisfying brunch experience.
Very old timey, in a good way....made the mistake of going during a lunch rush on a sunny Saturday so it was packed! Shows how popular it is tho! Food was nice and filling and the server was really sweet. I ate myself stupid lol
This is a go-to place when you want a decent small meal. The good is that they are open a little later than most neighborhood restaurants and most of the time the service is good, not always, but most of the time. (We eat there a lot because we like to eat dinner late.) The food is ok, not spectacular, but good. It's a NY Greek diner so it has an extensive menu and they try to offer interesting dishes. Some of the food is too salty for me, but you can request no salt or spices, so that's an individual thing. The prices are a little high. There's another diner in LB, and their prices are high also. Prices everywhere seem to be high, but there is an excellent Asian restaurant close by (for comparison) and their prices are not high, so I can't understand why they charge so much for an omelette or any other basic diner dish. But I definitely recommend it if you want a basic diner meal and don't mind waiting if they're busy.
Pat Lafrieda meat makes a difference. Good NY diner. If you're in LB and are looking for diner food, come here.
nothing to write home about, not impressed at all. sorry. kind of disappointed but very nice hostess.
The vibes and ambiance are very good here. Service was friendly and fast but a little too fast. My breakfast came out within 5 minutes of ordering and we felt very rushed to leave on a Sunday morning even tho we waited for our table fair and square. Food was average diner standards. I was upset to see on my check that adding blueberries to pancakes was an extra $4, which was outrageous. Overall a good spot.

The Laurel was much better in the '90s and early 2000s. The renovations look great and it maintains that classic diner vibe. The service is fine, but the food doesn't match the price you're paying.…
I ordered the Sunset Santorini salad it was so perfect The combination of the feta walnuts and fig glaze is so delicious on its own. It didn't need the grilled chicken on it.

People are very friendly....Food is diner quality food...priced high for what it is... basic eggs and hash browns and an omelet cooff over 30 dollars plus tax plus tip so basically 36-40 dollars …
This was a bit hard to find and the on street parking was difficult. We parked about 2 blocks away in pouring rain. We went on a Saturday morning and it was quite busy. We were seated within 10 minutes to a booth in the back corner. Server came over quickly and took our orders. Upon unwrapping my silverware I saw it was dirty and sticky. They replaced it quickly and our order came out in about 30 minutes. Pancakes were light and fluffy, unfortunately the fake syrup was watery and slimy with no taste. It ruined what we're really good pancakes. Eggs, bacon and ham all fresh & hot. My husband got omelet that he said was really good. Total bill was over $30.00 for 2 breakfasts. Not sure we'll be back.
Just ate breakfast here. Food was fine. No complaints about the food. I got 2 pancakes eggs and bacon. Oh and a coke. $18.20. Ok so I live in Philadelphia, just up here working. I completely understand the cost of living is more up here but still $18.20 for that. I don't really think they're that expensive. I'm sure you can get that for a cheaper if you look through the menu but I usually tell them what I basically want and they find the best option for me on the menu. That's part of the waitresses job I feel. Maybe I'm wrong. Anyway she didn't do that and I paid $18.20. $25.20 with my tip which of course I still left cause that's what I'm supposed to do right? Well I did my part.
Good atmosphere but expensive prices and small food amount
I like these little diners, sometimes you find a diamond in the rough. In the case of the Laurel Diner, I did not. I tried the place a couple times and I will say this, the service is impeccable, to the point of almost being overbearing. I mean there is good customer service and then there is just being annoying. As for the food, it's average, which is what you'd expect from a diner, but the prices don't match what I'm getting. For those prices, I better be getting a huge portion or just better quality food, otherwise it's just not worth it, and while I kinda liked the Laurel, I'm not paying gourmet prices at a diner.
Meh. Went for nostalgia and probably won't go again. My $21 lox omelette was more onion than lox. The breakfast potatoes had no flavor, even a generous infusion of salt couldn't save them. $4 for an unsweetened ice tea that tasted like water. Our waiter seemed annoyed as soon as we were seated and every interaction thereafter. The only thing that was good were my mom's pancakes.
Bad service, the waitress was arrogant, bad attitude. She didn’t bring the menu, she argued with one of her colleagues tense atmosphere.
In business since 1932, Laurel Diner is a classic diner in almost every sense. It’s spacious and boisterous with striped booths that exude retro charm. The menu is appreciably huge, boasting everything from breakfast to sandwiches to pastas and much, much, more. About the only thing here that doesn’t recall a bygone era is the pricing, which is high even by 21st-century Long Island standards. Laurel does at least offer rather generous portions (plus free coleslaw and pickles), but the food is nothing special. I went with a pastrami Reuben and a side salad in place of fries. The sandwich satisfied a craving though the meat was a bit chewy. It feels almost blasphemous, but I can get a better version down in North Carolina for about half the $20-plus cost. To Laurel’s credit, the staff were at least attentive and accommodating. For those who grew up with diners like this or simply want a lot of options to choose from, Laurel Diner holds a certain appeal. Remove nostalgia from the equation, however, and it offers neither particularly good food nor a good value.
Looked like a nice local diner. But the food was so and so. And the service was lacking. One persons meal came out way late. Kept forgetting toast that was supposed to come with the omelet. A nearby table almost got into it with the waitress because of a terrible attitude/response. I’ll have to give it a try some time in the future. Don’t recommend.
Ordered cheeseburger medium rare, got medium no pink pretty dry. I never heard of a diner not sending Cole slaw with the burger order..... ordered burger and 2 baked potatoes. $30. Plus $5 tip.…

food isn't the problem but they got very cheap.. trying to save money.. not so many pickles when you are pay top price for a burger . they cut the cheese cake piece LITERALLY IN HALF! the cost of the cake also went up 3 dollars! The ten dollars they charge for a few bites I could have spent for a whole cake at stop and shop! NOT going bback and they know me after I asked them to see if there is a bigger slice.. deer in headlights.. Not at all were they budging they lost a customer that had been going there for years.
We're not happy with the quality of our food. I ordered a chicken sandwich and my girlfriend got a milkshake. Both were bad. Sandwich was cold and soggy and milkshake tasted insanely sweet with an artificial flavor. Staff was friendly and the food was served quickly. Won't come back probably.
Dinned here during the snow storm with my partner.. everything was great until a baby roach crawled onto our table. We tried to kill him but he escaped. Will never be visiting this establishment again. They need to do a deep clean and eradicate all roaches in their restaurant. I didn’t want to disturb the rest of the patrons and ruin their experience. However, we would like a refund and to make sure roaches don’t continue to run free in this restaurant. Be weary..
Every item on the menu is beyond overpriced, defeats the whole purpose of a diner. Great food just criminally priced.
Heard alot of good things about this dinner so decided to go. Ordered eggs over easy with home fries and corned beef ham, well the eggs were over cooked and the home fries were saturated with way to much oil and the corn beef was rare and not cooked properly (ANY OF THE ABOVE COULD GET YOU SICK). Called the waitress over to show her everything and she agreed with everything I just told you so the manager apologized and didn't charge for the meal. I will not ever go back to this dinner again when a simple task to cook the food properly gets ignored as well.
I was traveling from upstate to meet a client & arrived to Long Beach an hour early, so I asked for a recommendation for a diner where I could grab a breakfast. They recommended this diner. As I parked, another car pulled up very close to mine and the guy got out of the car & started cursing me for parking too close to the line, which I didn’t realize (there were plenty of spaces at that moment). I didn’t say anything & moved the car after he went in the restaurant. He was a friend of the restaurant. I went in and politely asked for a table. There were SEVERAL empty tables & empty booths. The waitress tried to seat me at a very small table in the middle of the restaurant & then gave me a hard time when I asked for a booth. To put it bluntly she was arrogant & mean. After a few minutes she relented & said ‘you can sit there FOR NOW’ - basically warning me that she could kick me out of the booth at anytime! I was relieved to get a booth because I was hungry & very tired from my trip. I told her I wanted to run to the restroom before I sat down. As I walked towards the restroom I saw one of their male cooks exit the woman’s restroom! As he walked back to the kitchen he gestured that I could go in there. When I did, I saw he didn’t flush the toilet! Probably didn’t wash his hands either! I walked out & told another waitress sitting alone what happened & that it’s disgusting - especially from someone working in the kitchen. She just stared at me. I walked out & grabbed bfast at Burger King a block away - which was better, cleaner, had plenty of parking, & a NICE staff. I wasn’t going to post a review of this diner but my friend convinced me to share my experience. Especially during a pandemic when hygiene is more important than ever. I gave them one star because based on my experience, I couldn’t give them less.
Not the best experience I was standing at the door waiting to be seated they noticed me after 15 minutes and they tried to squeezed me by the bathroom when they have table available for one person in the main area . Probably they treat the locals differently from the visitors. I just get up and left . And to answer the restaurant reply I asked the hostess to change me the table and I pointed to her that is empty a two seats table . She denied me to let me seat there .
this diner was terrible the blackish Salmon was white and sappy the entire lunch was horrific
This place has the rudest people working here. Not once but several times they have been disgustingly rude. They also store you credit card information and use it so be aware. Stay away
Overpriced they should be banned from serving their “seasoned turkey burger” absolutely disgusting. The only good thing about the diner is the ambiance
First everything is overpriced. Second I had the worst turkey burger ever and my wife had not great beef burger. . They say they use Pat Lefreida meats but did not perform as such. Had indigestion for hours. The fries were greasy. Never see me back.
I see these reviews, and I have a hard time reconciling them with my personal experience, which was very bad. So I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say maybe it was a bad day? They seated us right by the bathrooms and the bussing station, even though there were booths by the windows: and you're correct, I'm sure we could've asked to move, but that seems beside the point. We were treated to a near constant cachophony of crashing dishes at the bus station: our cups were smashed down at the table by our surly waiter, we were served tastless grits with UNMELTED PROCESSED CHEESE SLICES STRAIGHT OUT OF THE PACKET JUST *SITTING* LIMPLY on top of the grit pile. Everything on my dry and disappointing sausage egg and cheese was an upcharge add-on (the egg, the cheese..) and we paid over 50 dollars for this succulent DINER meal. Anyway, just a caveat: maybe they treat locals/regulars better? They dont even have home fries🫠
If I could give this place negative stars I would do so. I ordered a sirloin steak to go. The steak was for an employee of mine. The employee complained to me that the steak was like a hamburger so I took a close look at it and then ripped off a piece of it. The "sirloin steak" was actually a giant hamburger made of ground meat and made to look like a steak. After discovering this, I called the restaurant and told the manager what happened. He proceeded to tell me that the steak was made of ground meat. He refused to issue a refund, called me cheap for ordering the "cheap steak". After I called back and told him that I would come into the restaurant and tell everyone what he had done, he threatened to call the police on me, to which I laughed and told him that they would laugh at him for serving me a hamburger that was disguised as a steak. The manager then proceeded to curse at me in Greek -- calling me a "Malaka" -- which is Greek for "dumbass". Long story short, I will never eat here due to the manager's lack of ethics and disgusting behavior -- besides for the mystery meat that they served me. P.S. I have included a picture of the 'sirloin steak".
