Laurel Luncheonette Long Beach Reviews
Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures but this place is phenomenal. I was born and raised in Long Beach and loved coming here. Now I live out of state but always make sure to come back every time I am in town. I highly recommend the French toast as it is cooked using fresh challah bread. If you enjoy chocolate like I do add Nutella to it. They also have the best egg creams in Long Beach. The service is very good and friendly. The portion sizes are good but the prices are a bit higher than other similar places. Regardless I will come back every time I am in town
Excellent diner. The vibe is perfect, interior is delightfully retro. Food of course is good with huge portions. Wait staff are great too, my coffee cup was never less than half full unless I said no thanks. I was a solo diner in for breakfast and was lucky enough to have a brief conversation with a group of local ladies in for breakfast also. It sums up the feel of the diner. It felt like not just somewhere to grab food, but a meeting point for the community.
The staff is always so accommodating, and friendly- you feel like family when you’re here. Our waiter Kleanthis K. and the hostess made sure our 1 year old son had something entertaining, offered to bring kid friendly items and just went above and beyond in every sense. Not to mention the food is phenomenal, I got the gouldberg burger this time and the skirt steak the last time. Skirt steak is probably one of the best I’ve had (seriously don’t knock it until you try it). The burger was delicious with a side of sweet potato fries *chefs kiss*. Will def be back
Old school diner. Lively. Good solid diner food. In fact too much food. Huge portions. If you get the French toast I learned a trick - have it sliced thin (you can ask as they hand slice the Challah bread!). Easier to eat and less daunting in size 😂 delicious in either format!
The person who brought us assured us that we would get 3 days worth of food, and she was right. And she especially recommended a particular pressed sandwich. I had salmon with veggies and it was exquisite. The wait staff was polite and attentive. Food was great. Froze my portion for another day.
Delicious food! Hardworking staff! Cool decor. We were seated fast on a very busy Sunday. This is an excellent dining option in this area and was an outstanding way to start our morning. Tasty mimosa, generous amounts of coffee, and the tuna salad platter was fresh, so good, and huge! Try it out!
Clean, organized, friendly, fast......looking for a diner with a retro vibe, diner classics but some new takes on old favorites - get yourself to Laurel Diner PRONTO! We have never, ever had a bad meal, never had poor service and while the weekends can present a wait for a table - the wait is rarely too long. Having said that - the wait is definitely worth it. Run - don't walk to this special place that has become one of our favorite places not only in Long Beach but as for a diner on the entire South Shore of Nassau County. Can't say enough positive things about this homey yet professional diner.
It’s easy to see why this place is a neighborhood favorite. The food and the service are phenomenal. You can’t go to a diner in New York and not have breakfast. The pancakes were light and fluffy and tasty. I also tried the French Toast on the recommendation of our waitress and it was delicious. My coffee cup was always full thanks to the attentive staff that seemed to work together like a well coordinated team. The art deco interior is a pleasant departure from the flashy neon kitschyness of most other diners. It was just the right balance of style and comfort that contributes to a wonderful experience.
Excellent breakfast spot a few blocks from the Long Beach train station and beautiful beach and boardwalk. A must-see majestic interior that brings you back in time. They have an inside counter and booth seating. Outside, they have sidewalk tables primarily shaded in the AM. The staff are serious and hard-working and know their food so ask for a recommendation Excellent menu, good coffee, and food. Large platters.

The vibes and ambiance are very good here. Service was friendly and fast but a little too fast. My breakfast came out within 5 minutes of ordering and we felt very rushed to leave on a Sunday morning even tho we waited for our table fair and square. Food was average diner standards. I was upset to see on my check that adding blueberries to pancakes was an extra $4, which was outrageous. Overall a good spot.
Came to the Laurel diner when we were staying on the boardwalk nearby. It was a quick walk, and you can't beat the classic vibe here. Service was great as you would expect. Place is on the small side…

The Laurel was much better in the '90s and early 2000s. The renovations look great and it maintains that classic diner vibe. The service is fine, but the food doesn't match the price you're paying.…
I ordered the Sunset Santorini salad it was so perfect The combination of the feta walnuts and fig glaze is so delicious on its own. It didn't need the grilled chicken on it.
I recently had dinner at the Laurel Diner Long Beach NY. I had the Brisket of Beef sandwich and a salad. This was by far the best I have ever had in a restaurant or a home made dish at any family o…

People are very friendly....Food is diner quality food...priced high for what it is... basic eggs and hash browns and an omelet cooff over 30 dollars plus tax plus tip so basically 36-40 dollars …
In business since 1932, Laurel Diner is a classic diner in almost every sense. It’s spacious and boisterous with striped booths that exude retro charm. The menu is appreciably huge, boasting everything from breakfast to sandwiches to pastas and much, much, more. About the only thing here that doesn’t recall a bygone era is the pricing, which is high even by 21st-century Long Island standards. Laurel does at least offer rather generous portions (plus free coleslaw and pickles), but the food is nothing special. I went with a pastrami Reuben and a side salad in place of fries. The sandwich satisfied a craving though the meat was a bit chewy. It feels almost blasphemous, but I can get a better version down in North Carolina for about half the $20-plus cost. To Laurel’s credit, the staff were at least attentive and accommodating. For those who grew up with diners like this or simply want a lot of options to choose from, Laurel Diner holds a certain appeal. Remove nostalgia from the equation, however, and it offers neither particularly good food nor a good value.
Looked like a nice local diner. But the food was so and so. And the service was lacking. One persons meal came out way late. Kept forgetting toast that was supposed to come with the omelet. A nearby table almost got into it with the waitress because of a terrible attitude/response. I’ll have to give it a try some time in the future. Don’t recommend.
Ordered cheeseburger medium rare, got medium no pink pretty dry. I never heard of a diner not sending Cole slaw with the burger order..... ordered burger and 2 baked potatoes. $30. Plus $5 tip.…

Every item on the menu is beyond overpriced, defeats the whole purpose of a diner. Great food just criminally priced.
If I could give this place negative stars I would do so. I ordered a sirloin steak to go. The steak was for an employee of mine. The employee complained to me that the steak was like a hamburger so I took a close look at it and then ripped off a piece of it. The "sirloin steak" was actually a giant hamburger made of ground meat and made to look like a steak. After discovering this, I called the restaurant and told the manager what happened. He proceeded to tell me that the steak was made of ground meat. He refused to issue a refund, called me cheap for ordering the "cheap steak". After I called back and told him that I would come into the restaurant and tell everyone what he had done, he threatened to call the police on me, to which I laughed and told him that they would laugh at him for serving me a hamburger that was disguised as a steak. The manager then proceeded to curse at me in Greek -- calling me a "Malaka" -- which is Greek for "dumbass". Long story short, I will never eat here due to the manager's lack of ethics and disgusting behavior -- besides for the mystery meat that they served me. P.S. I have included a picture of the 'sirloin steak".
