Tiny little place with hard to find parking but a definite go to place when I pick up my father in law. They have the tastiest chicken and rice plate and steak sandwich.
Great deal $25 for a whole rotisserie chicken, rice, black beans and plantains. The food was delicious too.
Small place. Great service. Delicious food. Parking is rough because well, Atwater Village.
A wonderful restaurant run by a wonderful woman! I may live 40-50 minutes away, but I'd make the drive just for this.
Really fantastic empanadas. I don't want to start a war, but dare I say they are a little better than Porto's?!?
BRO THE FOOD 😍 Waitresses was a delight, ropa vieja & flan ON POINT! Definitely coming back!
Wow very happy that we stopped here! The food is delicious! Definitely will come back.
Tiny little place with 1 server. Great ambiance. Ropa vieja had lots of flavor.
I love this place! Their oven baked chicken with a side of plantains is excellent and extremely filling.
I had a craving for strong, Cuban coffee like Im used to in Miami. We got awesome coffee and ribs!
Go early to make sure you get Arroz con Pollo. But if they run out, the tilapia is always good, or order the tasty Bistec Empanizado. Prices are all very reasonable at this cozy neighborhood eatery. Street parking (metered) is always available.
Best Cuban food in LA.. I've been to pretty much all of them. Closest to my wife's good (She's Cuban) so it taste like home cooking. Ropa Vieja and picadillo are delicious
Old school restaurant. Cod was delicious. Plantains and chicken with rice are the best. Chicken with rice always sells out early. Great small spot.
I’m from NYC, so i’ve had some good cuban food. but man…this is some of the best i’ve ever had. great prices, cute restaurant, incredible food. Thanks guys, hope to come back soon!
I love the food ,atmosphere and wait staff. I've never physically been to Havana. However I'm in the heart of Havana every time I eat here!!!
I've been going here for a really long time and I always order the ropa vieja and the plantains. Flan is good too.The space is tiny, so it gets crowded, the service can be slow and it can get hot, but I really don't mind this.
My kids and husband loved the food, service, and ambiance. Small little restaurant that offers big flavor!
The food was very good. My husband had the arroz con pollo. It was very flavorful, as was the cuban sandwich. Nice admoshere with a very nice man waiting on the tables.
Bacalao was excellent I just wish I had more starch, rice bread or otherwise, to soak up the wonderful sauce at the bottom.
Being from Florida, I was surprised how few Cuban restaurants are in the LA area. This is one of them and one of the better options. Their ribs are actually my favorite thing here, but it's all good.
As a Miami Cuban in LA, this is the only place in the entire city for me that scratches the itch (Miami people know what I’m talking about: the pining for La Carreta, Versailles [the one in Miami], Sergio’s, Havana Harry’s, the croquetas at Islas Canarias...) Porto’s, Tropicana in Downey, La Taverna, Versailles the [LA edition] and even El Cochinito (My second favorite here) have nothing on this place. It may not be fully authentic but man it’s good.
Great Cuban food and great prices. The cheeseburger and fries are the best in the area. Parking can be difficult as it is for most of the businesses in this area.
Enjoyable time. Good food, good ambiance and not too crowded. Introduced friends
Alex is the owner and he sometimes will be in the back cooking He is a very special young man with a talent for the cuban cuisine ....all his plates are authentic and tasteful
Fun lil restaurant with real Cuban food like we had in Puerto Rico so many Yrs ago !
Baracoa is a great spot on Glendale Blvd. Do yourself a favor and order the Ropa Vieja! Or the Arroz con Pollo, or the Jerk Chicken, or anything on the menu! Don't forget the plantains!
My family and I love this place. It's a simple restaurant with a great atmosphere, great food, great service and great prices. We took a friend from Miami who knows Cuban food there, and he loved it. We highly recomend it.
Great Cuban food! They can be understaffed and busy during busy eating times, but I love this neighborhood joint. The ropa vieja is fantastic and the arroz con pollo is great assuming they haven't run out of it (which happens early and often)
The food is DELICIOUS!!! And they are very welcoming. Traditional Cuban food made using mother's recipes. Can't get any better than that! The arroz con pollo is to die for!!!15/10 HIGHLY recommend
Get ready to be transported to your surrogate Cuban grandmother's house. Complete with satisfying portion sizes, deliciously marinated meats, flavor-packed soft rice, and plantains that manage to find the perfect amount of sweetness to satiate that sweet craving after a savory meal. And that was just one dish. Do yourself a favor and just try a lunch there, you'll be back. Did I mention everything is priced pre-gentrification.
The food here is SOOO good! If you love good, authentic Cuban food, that's really flavorful, this is the place! Their black beans are to die for! We've had the chicken, the cod, the jerk chicken, all of which were amazing. The jerk chicken is actually spicy and has a really good flavor (and not too sweet). The chicken is tender & juicy (in all the chicken dishes). The cod was garlicky and buttery and amazing. My favorite dish! But honestly we love to just grab some beans & rice to go sometimes. Also, the tostones are good. The cassava/yuca is good, but the one downside is they don't remove all the hard fibers, so I tend not to order it b/c I don't enjoy accidentally biting down on them or picking them out myself, which is the whole reason I don't cook it at home, and prefer to order it out. So that one's a bit of a miss for me, but it's the only thing, and definitely not enough to deduct a star. And I should mention, I'm Cuban, so having a good Cuban place nearby is really awesome. I used to like El Cochinito in Silver Lake, but a few years back the menu and everything changed and I haven't liked it as much. There are a few other decent Cuban spots around, in the Burbank area, but none are anywhere near as good as Baracoa to me. In a lot of ways, just like some people judge a sushi restaurant by its rice, in this case, you could almost judge Baracoa by its beans. They're so amazingly flavorful, which is true about everything we've eaten here. And the food is not just garlicky, but they really do know how to balance all those other subtle flavors that give Cuban food its distinctive yum.
Amazing food, but get here EARLY if you want the Arroz con Pollo. It sells out QUICK! Super delicious and worth it though. Staff is always super sweet to.
Super all around. Everything we ate was perfectly cooked and delicious -- I had the BBQ ribs - and a quaint and cozy place with great personal service. I would like to try everything on the menu
Excellent Cuban food and I am Cuban born so I can say with certainty. I had the oxtail in my daughter had the con gris with yuca. Both plates are excellent and highly recommend this place is one of the last great Cuban restaurants around. A guanabana & mamey shake topped it all off.
I'm gonna keep this short. A Cubano, their empanadas with a nice cold beer equals a delicious lunch. Plus, a flan on the side for dessert and it's worth it all the way. Absolutely enjoy this place. Small, cute and quaint.
My family and I really enjoyed our time there, my boys are usually skeptical about trying different foods, they had the Cuban Sandwich and really loved it, they gave it an 8, the fried plantains and tostones were delicious, the BBQ baby back ribs tender and delicious as well, we would definitely come again when we travel back to CA.
Some of the most wonderful Cuban food in the city. The Cubano sandwich is unbeatable and a go-to staple for whenever I’m in Glendale. Look forward to returning every couple weeks.
Outstanding service and ambiance, plus the Rabo (Oxtail) with black beans and rice was delicious! Great authentic Cuban restaurant in LA.
I for one, have always liked this little place. Authentic (and great) food, family operated. I won't take away a star for the prices being higher than what it should cost, because you pay for the location. Also, they have the street ready for spring/summer covered & lit outdoor dining (some with plants)...for the row of restaurants here...great vibe to the block. Enjoy!
Chicken platter was great! Plantains have the perfect crispy burnt edges (and so did the chicken) First time I've been here in a bit and it's still great! We did takeout but I still love the little dark Havana Cafe atmosphere they have there. Thank you!
The servers were super sweet and very accommodating, when we had to make changes or where indecisive with our order, they helped us make better selections and were very patient with us. The potato balls were amazing, as was the greens salad and their chicken with black beans over rice! We also shared a slice of their pastel (cake) de Tres Leches and it was soooo scrumptious 😋 😍 Everything was delicious 😋!!!
The food is so good! I got the beans and rice, and 4 empanadas. I ate two there and two to take home. The service is excellent, you won't be disappointed. They have a couple of tables for outside dining also. I ate there yesterday 4/20/19.
I had the steak sandwich and my partner had the boliche plate. Both SO BOMB. Can't wait to come back and try more of the menu. Atmosphere was cute, perfect for a chill date night. Service was great. There's metered parking on a few of the streets around, might have to walk a block or two.
This place is amazing! We were only in town briefly on vacation and we ate here twice. The food takes you to comfortable place (where ever that is to you) as soon as the flavor hits your soul. We were blessed enough to have sat across from the owners father (very sweet man) who gave us a brief history of Cuba and the significance to his family of the mural that is painted on the wall. All of the staff was gracious and attentive. When you stop by make sure you try the cod or tilapia plate. The next time we're in CA, we will definitely be eating there again.
So so so good! The rice and peas and the plantains are fantastic. The meal I wanted wasn't available in chicken breast. I tasted my husband's and it was really good. I had the salmon and that was good.
Cozy and warm atmosphere. Family run. Authentic and delicious. Specials are good value and food whatever dish is spot on. Ive been coming here for a couple years now its consistent and staff is always friendly.
I have never had anything but good experiences with the food and service at Baracoa. They are good enough for me to hold informal business lunches there and recommend it to my friends. And they catered my 50th birthday party at a hall in Glendale. They're nice, hard-working people with great-tasting food.
First time for this old German eating Cuban and I have to admit, it was absolutely delicious. Service and all amazingly perfect. I highly recommend this place. Bring the family too because 1 plate will feed them all.
Stopped by for a snack on a weekend evening. Food and service was good. Live music band was so so (this is typically a hit or miss item anywhere). Recommended.
The only bad thing about coming here is the parking. There might not be easy parking. But the torta are delicious. It was made simple but really good. I would come back again!
All our food was just perfect and authentic. We had the ropa vieja and the sirloin steak. The yuca was delicious. Salad was fresh. Everything absolutely delicious.
Baracoa is a gem. A neighborhood institution, with friendly staff and comforting simple food. Be warned though, the Arroz con Pollo runs out because people love it so much! Go early in the day if you want yours. We love this spot.
Service was great! Our server was so sweet and attentive despite the busy crowd at 7pm. I got the steak sandwich and it was delicious and very much worth the price. When I go back I want to try the fried plantains as well.
Most authentic Cuban food around. Excellent ambiance and service. Everything on the menu is a great dish.
Had the best Dinner date with my mom. A quaint place with the most delicious authentic cuban dishes. Ropa vieja dish & cafe con Leche is a must. So lucky to have found this neighborhood place.
Years of great food and service at decent prices keeps me coming back. Love it.

3 of us came to eat at Baracoa Cuban Cafe. Bread was freshly made with butter. There was plenty of available parking. All 3 of us ordered different items. The food looked so good, we forgot to take pictures. All 3 of us thought our plates were delicious. We recommend this restaurant. Closed on Tuesdays.
Last night I was there and I bought the best empanadas I tasted in the United States in addition to some potato balls that for God's sake were so delicious! My heart burst with flavors! Thank you for cooking so good, I want to go back and try more things from the menu. I highly recommend this place. I loved that the lady who took care of us was confused when we asked for the flavor of the empanadas and gave them to us as a gift so that we can try another flavor.
I took my family here after a run to CostCo since it was close by and looked good. It was a small place with maybe 10-15 tables and I must say, it was some of the best Cuban food I have ever had. My son had the Cuban sandwich with fries - he loved it - and my wife had the Arroz Con Pollo (chicken and rice) and she said it was amazing. I was torn between the Cuban and the Pan Con Lechon (Roasted Pork Sandwich) and the hostess/waitress told me to go with the roasted pork and I am SO GLAD SHE DID. It was astoundingly good and like the Cuban came with delicious fries. We also had some sweet plantains which were very good and some empanadas (cheese and beef) which were great and not at all greasy considering they are fired. All in all it was a great meal.
This is my favorite place to eat in LA. Their food reminds me of my grandmothers cooking!! It’s so delicious and comforting. The only thing is that I miss the boliche but hopefully it comes back on the menu one day :) *Important news!!! The boliche is back and more delicious than I remember! This and the pollo al horno (with a side of plantains) holds us as our FAVORITE dinner in LA. Hands down!

A page right out of the Cuban tour book. Cozy and unassuming with classic Cuban menu items prepared well. Chicken and Rice is a standout dish.
Their Cuban food is AT times excellent, had the Cuban pork if you like pork dishes this one is good
Never had Cuban food before so I don't have much to compare it with. But the food was good and the service was fast.
The ropa vieja was on point. So was the bacalao. It's a small space but yummy and good service. I'll def visit again.
3rd time wife and I eat there. I had the picadillo and wife had the carne con papas. All good. Service was good. You should try this place.
Great homie environment. Intimate. Great food but must go early if you want access to everything on the menu.
Excellent Cuban/Caribbean food. This place has been a favorite of mine for more than a decade and what they serve, they prepare well. Nothing flashy, just solid food.
The ant wanted rice and beans and I wanted Cuban food. We didn't feel like driving to Mambo's Cafe in Burbank so we stopped by this place in Atwater village. I was worried that on a Friday night we wouldn't be able to find parking, and that the place would be crowded. Everything worked out... There was only one other person in the restaurant. The ant got a hamburger which is a surprise considering how adventurous she normally is, and I got the chicken in Ajo with extra extra ajo. It was delicious. Unfortunately, the bread basket there Is dangerously good-- I definitely overstuffed myself. Having said that their medianoche sandwich must be very good. I will certainly return to find out.
This is probably one of the best tasting coffee I have ever tasted. But I have a friend who thought that the coffee is a bit strong. I suggest people let the staff know what kind of taste they like but really, this cafe is amazing!
The food was great and the atmosphere was cozy. The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 was that I told them I had a citrus allergy and they put limes on my plate.
Solid local option for Cuban favorites. The whole front of the restaurant opens up to the sidewalk, offering good airflow. If you want takeout, you are best off calling them and picking up; they're not connected to the usual gig delivery places. The fried yuca appetizer is great!
I lived around the corner when they opened 20 years ago, I was 7. My mom and I would come here as a treat and I would often pick it for my birthday meal, so this place holds a special place in my heart. My mom still lives nearby so I have been getting takeout on my way home recently after visiting her. Its still as good as I remember! My favorite is the ropa vieja, always great. Their arroz con pollo is very good too. I remember their beef stew being really good as well. They also have my favorite maduros ever(sweet plantains). They really caramelize theirs and they all have delicious crunchy bits!!! The price is on the higher end, but its nothing crazy, usual LA prices.
Loved my food and drink. The food had amazing flavor and the chicken melted in my mouth. Overall loved it.

Delicious food in a quaint space. It was busy on Saturday night when we arrived, but we were seated quickly. Their outdoor space wasn't available, so many diners who were interested kept walking since the indoor area of the restaurant is small. Hopefully, they'll open up the space so more people can try their delicious food!
Always hits the spot when we’re in the mood for a solid Cuban sandwich. We almost always order that and some empanadas and have never been let down. If you’re on the fence, give it a try.

Kinda pricey, garlic chicken good but too small. The ropa veja no taste missing, onion, garlic, bell peppers, salt, pepper ,oregano cumin, and batleaf.
Food and service has changed over the past few months. We used to go regularly. We have since changed to a new Cuban restaurant in the area La Cubana
It’s fine
Honestly disappointed. Growing up with Cuban culture and cuisine in Miami I experienced hundreds of low quality and high quality Cubano meals. I had the slow roasted pork plate and it was not the quality I expected. The rice and beans lacked authentic Cuban flavor. The music playing was fun.
The rice was not properly cooked. At first the waiter stated that's how we make it.lol yeah right. But he did bring me a new plate of rice and another of beans much better. He made up by giving us a free flan. Ok it's a 3 star.
I was very disappointed in the place! Mind you I went early so I could take my time and enjoy myself . So I ordered ( only person in restaurant) great after that I thought maybe I will get appetizer, the waitress is sitting maybe 4 tables away on the phone talking so I say excuse me for maybe 10 minutes finally tired and I stop, 2 minutes later she gets up to kitchen and comes with salad and plantains. Great plantains . I was disappointed that when I ask for balsamic vinaigrette she says yes and I get plain vinegar?? Ok no problem , so I tell her that I was calling her for an appetizer she just looks at me blank not a word so I shut it off . I remind her that I want my dish mr she say yes I know walks away goes to kitchen and comes back with dish and it’s not mr but med to well done I don’t even say anything because apparently she doesn’t care… she walk away I taste the food bland I’m surprised this is Cuban food which is certainly not bland so I salt and pepper it and try again to get waitress to no avail, when I give up she gets up to back to kitchen and glances towards the front I wave my hands like I’m in a football stadium she rolls her eyes with a look of Annoyance I’m say please can I get salsa or hot sauce and since this is just vinegar can you bring me dressing she is like what I ask what kind do you have ok I will take that one mind you still the annoyed look…now the food rice and bean beans were so bland with over cooked rice meat well I told you already , so not a good experience , at the end I get how was everything I just look at her with food in my mouth and continue to eat I ask for check and leave . Only good thing was the plantains and sangria…
Knocking down some stars because their store hours are not accurate. The last 2 times we tried to come eat here (8pm one time, 6pm another time), they were closed when Google Maps said they're open. But when they are open, the carne con papas is super delicious. I crave it all the time, but I'm confused if the restaurant is even open still. Edit: Went another time at 3pm. They had the restaurant locked with the gate. I believe they are out of business.
Severely overpriced for the quality and quantity. We know Cuban food and this ain’t. It. Save yourself the time and money. Not worth it.
I really hoped this place would be good since I live so close but the 2 times I have eaten there I was very disappointed. The food did not taste fresh and service was really poor.
First experience, not very impressed with the Chicken and rice, that's all the rave. In Cuban it sounds much more than it is. Tried it for lunch. Over priced steamed chicken leg attached to some other part, and half of plate of mushy over cooked clumy of oddly seasoned rice, and plate of bagged pre mixed salad.
The food was okay, the ropa vieja lacked spices, the guy who took my order was really friendly over the phone. Once we picked up our order it was obvious why he seemed friendly, I had tallied my order would be about $45 according to the menu online by Google, once there our bill was an excess of $75, whut?? The gentleman saw our surprised faces and explained about different pricing online even went as far as showing us a sign notifying customers about price differences not being their responsibility yet they know about the problem and have made zero effort to rectify the issue. Bad business practices
It was nice, service was decent, and food was missing flavor, the bananas were over fried, beans were too salty but I might try it one more time too ensure it wasn't an off day for the cook. Please try it and tell us what you yhought of the place and food!
Great food but, it’s hit and miss with friendly/professional staff. I’ve been a customer for years and, customer service changed in the last year. Case in point, walked in with 50 minutes before closing (9/1/24) and was met by the waitress/hostess which rudely said they were closed.

Food is below average and with only one waitress and no aircondtioning. You more experience the communist Cuba than have an enjoyable Cuban meal.
great server ,but super expensive for a little bunch of rice and beans even every place the ropa vieja meat rice and bean comes with sweet plantains but here charge u $4 extra !! super expensive not good food dont stop by this restaurant there’s better cuban restaurants around LA
If I could Give a 0 I would what a disssapointment.Food Terrible No Flavor . Sevice Very poor. Prices over the top for what was presented.. never again..
Worst Cuban Restaurant ever. Food was bland and not traditional. Small portions for the price. No Cuban Coffee! The most important thing to a Cuban is having Cuban Coffee after his meal. Wish I could give this place 0 stars
Service was good, but the milanesa was flat and missing the breading, presentation was even worse, the rice with black beans on top looked like mushed potatoes and black beans. the steaksandwich my friend had wasn't a steak but shredded meat sandwich. Stick to El Cochinito.
Ropa Vieja lovers from this place. The taste of the ropa vieja is the exact same thing as the Del Real Mexican Barbacoa from Walmart $7.99 I'm very disappointed. Friendly service, cozy place.
Do not eat here! They overcharge you and do not want to answer the phone because no one there speaks English! I purchased the codfish which was $26 and some change and after taxes it was $29. I look into my account and they overcharged me $20 when pending in my account and when they charge went through, they overcharge me $10 - when I didn’t order anything else! So instead of them fixing this, I’m leaving this review. And it’s sad because my sister and I dubbed this as a favorite place to eat as we’ve been there about four times already. Be careful because on the website on their menu, there are no pricesand look at your receipts because they will overcharge you! As of this current post, I called about five minutes ago and the guy hung up on me and I tried to call back again and he doesn’t want to answer. I think if they are going to assist the public and someone there needs to learn how to speak English
Your business says it's open on Wednesdays but we are here and the gates are locked and you're not open. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
