It is not often one experiences a meal that absolutely complements and nourishes not only the body but also the soul. I came across this restaurant by shear coincidence. I left my car near by for service and wanted to find a place to eat. I walked in the wrong direction and ended up here at Charlie’s trio. The name is brilliant because the restaurant is separated into three different sections, the bar, take out and Dine in. Lest talk about my meal. I had a bowl on minestrone with garlic bread and that was absolutely delicious. The garlic bread complimented the soup perfectly. My main dish was the Roma Gorgonzola thin crust pizza. Here is where my taste buds jumped with Joy. What a great combination between a perfectly cooked thin crust bread and tossed greens is a balsamic vinaigrette dressing. As if that was not enough, I found out that they where serving happy hour prices and my full meal was less than $20. What an amazing experience. Than you.

Great service, food and prices. I had the southwest pasta and it was excellent. We also had calamari, it could use a bit more seasoning,same as the Alfredo pasta. Bread as starter was super yummy too. Definitely would go back. Pizzas looked amazing too. Very popular place. Lots of parking nearby too.

Love the old time menu especially the broasted chicken with spaghetti. Often buy the chicken to go >> strongly recommend the chicken breast for dine in! It'll be the most juicy breasts you'll ever get! (I normally don't order this part of chicken as many places overcook them and make them dried, but not here!) Don't know why shrimp scampi is not in the recommendation list but that's good with capers. you can ask to cook with it, sprinkles,or on the side. Haven't tried their pizza yet because I always stick to the same choices. Finally save the tummy for dessert the last time and love the fruit tart!>> Nice old fashioned buttery crust with fresh fruits and smooth custard. Not too sweet (well-balanced sweetness with tangy berries) and very tasty. Satisfied! Come! You won't regret it! P.S. if come during the weekend, strongly recommend the chicken and waffle during brunch. It used to be in the lunch menu but no more.. 😢 I missed it very much! P.P.S. outdoor dining is available.

Simchelin Guide

We had the Pesto shrimp pizza and the calamari here for lunch. The pizza was amazing the calamari was alright not great not bad. The Pesto sheep pizza was very cheesy, I loved that, had some pine nuts which added a unique flavor, the breading was sooooooo good. The shrimp tastes a little funny but was big plump and good. As for the sauce you can never go wrong with Pesto. They have a wide selection of food and drinks. Service is fantastic. The servers are all very kind and friendly. Love that. Food came out pretty quick but it was lunch might be different for dinner. Plenty of free parking on the back. There is also street parking. All around a fantastic place for Italian cuisine. My wife and I enjoy the food at Charlie's Trio in El Sereno they have another one in Alhambra. Atmosphere is nice and lively I enjoy the slow braised short ribs they so good the meat was so favorable and very tender. The lasagna that my wife order was really good so much flavors in every bite. The service was incredible good.

The food is always great, but yesterday’s service was disappointing. Went in to have dinner and the restaurant was very busy due to it being Halloween. After the server wrote our party down, we waited for about 5 mins in the waiting area before we realized we never asked for the wait time. Luckily, the server was at the bar and we approached her to ask for the wait time. She made eye contact with us and proceeded to go back to the kitchen. While I understand it was a VERY busy time, we felt ignored and confused. We don’t expect to be given special treatment as guests, but walking away after making eye contact with us made us feel unseen and unwelcome. A simple “I’ll get back to you” would’ve acknowledged our presence and the fact that we just had a question.

Been coming here for the past few months and cant say I had a bad experience until recently. I went to pick up a pizza and some hot wings and it took me quite some time to get serviced by the girls on counter. When I finally got their attention after they finished laughing, the service was mediocre. When I asked for plates, peppers, and ranch, the girl with glasses droppd everything in my bag and turned away rudely. Will definitely call to make sure she’s not working.

We were very delighted the first day we tried the broasted chicken… I came back the next day and ordered 4 lunch boxes for my crew and I and the chicken was NOT as fresh as the day before. It was dry and not moist and juicy like the first time. It was either over cooked or old! I had also sent my other guys there the same day, they dined in as I was ordering to go. They were very disappointed as well and had returned everything they ordered as they were NOT happy with the flavor of anything they ordered, except the cheese sticks and the cheesecakes I sent to their table before I left with my to go order! I had also ordered a blueberry cheesecake to go and was given strawberry, which was good both times but I was really looking forward to tasting the blueberry! Not sure if there was a different cooks each day, but whatever happened I hope this review gets it corrected… this was all this past weekend Saturday 6/7 and Sunday 6/8!!

Food was mediocre at best.The lasagna tasted like canned meat. The macaroni and cheese croques were tasteless blend, but crunchy at least. Service was okay. I kept trying to get waitress's attention. She walked by like three or four times i'm not gonna shout to get a soda that's all.I got up and got it myself. The pizza was really doughy, and the cheese was clumpy.pizza Tasted ok for what it was floppy.Soggy pizza. At least they had the football game on, That's something, the bar Section is cozy, cool bar for what it is, tiny..

I have been coming to Charlie's Trio since at least 2011, and have always coined this my favorite neighborhood bar! Delicious food, close to home, and I always run into friends. However, I found myself checking to see who's bartending for the last couple of visits because whenever Juanito is working, I will usually choose to go elsewhere. He ALWAYS has an attitude and ego towards me to the point I feel uncomfortable asking him for a drink. I have bartended for the past 8 years, and have been in the restaurant industry for over 20 years; I know customer service and he does not have it. He treats me differently than Hispanic guests, including my best friend. Anyway, this last visit I guess was my last because my friend and I went in for a nightcap to celebrate my new job! We each had two drinks, and it affected her very intensely, but it was closing time anyway so I helped her out, and drove her home. But as we were leaving, Juanito was standing outside talking badly about my friend because she clearly had a little too much, when I stuck up for both her and myself, he 86'd us...OUTSIDE OF THE RESTAURANT. Honestly, I could care less because he was always so rude to me but I will miss the delicious food. I really hope management sees this and know exactly what's happening in that bar. I understand as a fellow bartender your job is to keep people relatively safe, but talking crap about and to the guests is beyond unprofessional and drives people away. Good luck!
