This small place is a gem for donuts lovers, pick up is the only option you must go to this place when visit southern California...
I love this place. I been coming here 10 years now. Whenever I’m around this part of town I try to cruise by for a donut for my husband and I. I love the sausage croissants as well. My favorite donut is either the m’ n m or the Cinnamon Toast Crunch. If you can find the parking to come here it’s worth it. Little expensive, especially for donuts. But every now and then a sweet treat is good for the soul.
I've gotta say, I really enjoyed the texture of their yeast donuts! They are airy, fluffy, moist, and most importantly, not overly sweet! Not to mention, so many outstanding flavors to choose from. (Yea, I can't get enough of this place!) Bonus points: they open 24/7. Also, they do customized donuts. Good for events, birthdays, and even engagement proposals. The only con is the parking! It's located in a fairly small plaza, and it is always super packed. But still, it's a must in Ktown. One of the best in LA! So good!
I have been coming here for years as it is around the corner from work, as well as open 24 hours. The donuts are excellent and I especially love their seasonal donuts. Do not miss the amazingly cute donuts they create for Halloween and Christmad especially. You also get $2 off for half dozen and $5 off per dozen. Do not miss the Abuelita, which is like a Mexican hot chocolate donut. Their coffwe drinks and other foods are great as well! Highly recommend!
If you are visiting, this is must. Walk up window with a cool vibe, great donut options (always new, creative flavors). The best classics are reeses, Oreo, any of the filled donuts. The boba here is insanely good. My order is Thai tea, with almond milk, half sweetness + boba. I probably gained 10 lbs here. Sketchy location, go during the day. Night time is okay but don’t go alone.
I had the pleasure of visiting California Donuts and was genuinely impressed! Their donuts are freshly made and absolutely delicious. I tried the horchata donut, and it was an easy 10/10—perfectly balanced flavors and super soft. We also picked up a unicorn donut for one of my daughters, and she loved it—not only adorable but tasty too! And of course, we had to get a pink sprinkle donut—a total classic that never disappoints. It was fresh, sweet, and just right. They offer a great variety of donuts and drinks, so there’s something for everyone. Whether you’re into fun and colorful or simple and classic, California Donuts has you covered. Definitely worth a stop!
Open late (and sometimes your only reason to get out of bed), this little 24/7 donut shop in Koreatown is legendary for a reason. Whether you’re craving something classic, colorful, or completely chaotic in the best way — they’ve got it. ⸻ The Donuts: Let’s be honest. You don’t just eat California Donuts — you celebrate them. • The Panda donut? Iconic. Fluffy, fun, Instagram gold. • The Fruity Pebbles donut? A nostalgia bomb in your mouth. • The Maple Bacon? It doesn’t just slap — it full-on high-fives your taste buds. • Even their basic glazed or old-fashioned is elite. Everything is fresh, sweet (but not too sweet), and surprisingly light. You could easily demolish three before realizing you “weren’t hungry.” ⸻ The Vibe: Small, always buzzing, and full of people who know exactly what time it is. The employees are quick and friendly, even when the line’s long — which it often is (worth it). There’s just something magical about ordering a cereal-covered donut at 1:00 a.m. in LA. ⸻ The Verdict: California Donuts isn’t just a donut shop — it’s a late-night rite of passage, a dessert lover’s playground, and a photo op rolled into one. Whether you’re local or just visiting, go once… and then probably go again before you leave. Must-try: Panda donut, Maple Bacon, Blueberry Crumb, and any limited-time special.
It had been quite a while since I’ve been here for donuts and I was pleased the place remains excellent. We stopped by early morning, around 7am & ordered a half dozen donuts. The panda donut was as delicious as I remembered, so happy I stopped by after being away from Los Angeles too long. The horchata donut was also delicious!
Love coming here. The service is always quick, although when it gets busy, there is a long line. I try to walk during busy times since the parking lot is small and it can get a big chaotic. Other than that, this is my favorite spot to go to when I want a quick coffee and sweet treat. They're Swissh Cheese Croissants are AMAZING. The cheese they use is so good, so that my typical order.
It’s located not in the best part of ktown but it’s open 24 hours. They ran out of the glazed chocolate cake donut at about 11am on a Saturday so if you have a specific preference go in early. There’s a big parking lot right in front of it which makes the experience easier.
I’ve been waiting to try these and was sadly disappointed. My raspberry filled donut wasn’t cooked properly and has raw dough in the middle. The man who took my order wasn’t very welcoming. The woman who I paid with was though. I think these are over hyped and I was nervous to buy the specialty donuts since they don’t have prices but the menu says every donut is individually priced and gives you just a range of the cost. Overall I wouldn’t come back.
Was disappointed with the "MapleBaconDonut" 🥓 I had been craving it, been a while without coming here. The bacon was horrible, you can taste the fat in it, not crispy at all and a 🤢 smell to it. Took the bacon off and just had the donut partially... hoping this was an isolated case cause these used to be soo good. 👎👍
Gold Seal Standards recently conducted an independent audit of California Donuts, a 24-hour establishment known for its wide selection of pastries and coffee offerings. Parking availability was limited, with approximately eleven spaces—including one handicap-accessible stall—shared among five nearby businesses. Metered street parking was also available but minimal. During the time of inspection (approximately 5:00 a.m.), the parking lot appeared littered with trash and debris, detracting from the initial presentation of the property. The audit team noted that the front window was the only open service point at the time of visit, and no public restroom was available for customers. While this may have been due to the early morning hours, it is worth noting for accessibility considerations. Customer interaction was fair but could be improved. The attending worker completed the order efficiently but was not particularly welcoming, which affected the overall customer experience. From a product standpoint, all donuts on display appeared visually appealing and fresh. The sampled donuts were very sweet but consistent in texture and quality. The bagels were toasted perfectly, though the shop only offered plain bagels at the time. Additionally, only a single small tube of Philadelphia cream cheese was provided, which was insufficient for the order size—two tubes would have been more appropriate. Overall, California Donuts demonstrated strong consistency in product presentation and food preparation quality but showed clear opportunities for improvement in customer interaction, parking lot maintenance, and portioning of condiments. Gold Seal Standards will continue to monitor this location through random follow-up audits to assess progress and adherence to hospitality and cleanliness standards. ⸻ Gold Seal Standards LLC (G.S.S) “Where every detail matters.”
This was a disappointment, after reading so many positive reviews I only enjoyed the buttermilk donut. The Reese’s donut tasted old, and the peanut butter cups on top were stale. The Oreo “panda” donut looked cute, but the cookies were not fresh and the flavor was just as sad as it looked. If you go, I would stick with the buttermilk - everything else was a letdown.
It honestly pains me to write this because California Donuts used to be one of our go-to spots, but over the years, things have really gone downhill. The donuts just don’t have that same delicious, fresh taste anymore. Instead, they seemed like they’d been sitting out for hours, losing all the softness and flavor we once loved. To make things worse, the customer service was very poor during our visit. We didn’t feel welcomed at all, and it seemed like the staff just wanted to rush us out. We also grabbed some coffee, hoping it might save the experience, but it tasted extremely burnt—as if it had been left on the warmer way too long. Sadly, we couldn’t even finish our donuts because they were that disappointing. It’s truly disheartening to say, but this will be our last time visiting California Donuts. It’s hard to watch a place you loved lose the quality and charm that made it special.
The donuts are creative & delicious but the idea that these overpriced donuts should be put in a basic donut bag is ridiculous. I drove 20 miles to get a donut from this place only to get back home & end up with a donut that has a good percentage of the icing on the bag. It’s a good thing I just got a simple maple donut cause had this happen with one of the fancy donuts I would have drove back & raised hell. To the staff & management of this business, please use your brain when you think about packing donuts in a bag that should be use for croissants & cookies & if you’re going to use bags spend the extra money to get the wax ones so you don’t end up with pissed off customers like me.
Super disappointed. I have been eating their ham and cheese croissants for over ten years. They definitely changed the cheese in it. It doesn't melt. It's a chunky cheese with a different taste. This was my favorite ham and cheese spot of all time. I am sad. It is nasty now. Why did you guys change the cheese !? :(
