El Chato Taco Truck: A popular local taco truck known for its authentic, flavorful Mexican street food. The tacos are made with fresh ingredients and bold seasonings, delivering a satisfying punch of flavor in every bite. Favorites include carne asada and al pastor, with generous portions and well-balanced toppings. The vibe is casual and laid-back, perfect for a quick, tasty meal on the go. Great value for money, making it a must-try for taco lovers seeking genuine street-style eats.
Chicken Mulita is out of this world. Nothing could have prepared me for experiencing their mulitas. I can’t rave enough about this place!
Family run. Incredible al pastor tacos. Always get the pineapple on top. Asada, chorizo, lengua all good too. It’s a nice late night walk from our flat. Munch there in the parking lot and sip on horchata as we walk back. Check on their Instagram stories to make sure they are open before you go cause sometimes they’ll close on random nights for various reasons.
El chato taco has quickly become my favorite place for tacos in West LA. Their al pastor is juicy and flavorful, and I always go for the salsa verde. The portions are generous, and the tacos are reasonably priced. The place has a chill vibe, and I’ve always had good service. It’s a great spot for a quick and tasty bite
This might just be the best taco spot I’ve found in all of Los Angeles! When I showed up, there were about twenty people in line, and it was clear this place is the real deal—authentic, beloved, and worth the wait. I ordered a few different things, but the steak mulita? Absolute favorite. Perfectly seasoned meat, warm melty cheese, and that grilled tortilla… it hit every note. Just bold, comforting flavors with no fuss—exactly what you want in street food. There’s something kind of magical about standing in the parking lot, plate in hand, surrounded by the sounds and smells of fresh tacos being made. It wasn’t fancy. But it was real—and honestly. If you want to eat like a local and taste tacos that actually live up to the hype, this is the place. I’ll be thinking about that mulita for a long time.
Overall good tacos. This truck has been a staple for over a decade. They're most well known for their Al pastor which is very good and very seasoned. I had 4 tacos. Al pastor, asada, buche & tripas. The al pastor was the best, the asada was good and seasoned well but it didn't have a nice char or grill flavor to it. The tripas was cool well with some crunchiness and flavor. The buche was also decent. The Al paator burrito my friend got was good but burrito was not well put together and the integrity of the burrito fell apart quickly. The parking is very hard to find if you can't find it at the lot they're posted up in. The staff is nice and the line can be long depending on the busy times.
I don't know how this place isn't more popular than Leo's - it's by far my favorite taco truck! Every time I come to LA I make sure to make a stop here. The meats are so juicy and flavorful and they come with SO much delicious salsa on top. My only qualm is that I can never tell what I'm eating when looking at them from the top! The tacos are definitely better than the burritos here - I usually get the Carne Asada, Al Pastor, Cabeza, Lengua, and Buche! The horchata & the pina are also great as well!
I traveled to Cali from NYC to help a friend move back during the pandemic and took the chance to try the best places for tacos in LA. It took 3 tries to catch these guys at there designated area but was well worth all the money spent on cabs. First off New York needs some major help, because the food scene in LA blows my mind. Its amazingly diverse. El Chatos tacos were exceptional... truly. Served as an amazing bonding experience for me and my buddy prior to our cross country road trip. Mind you hes not a foodie and not the most adventurist eater, but found himself loving the head meat taco. Check them out because they are serving up special eats.
Extremely busy taco truck, as it is only opened from Thursday to Sunday nights. The tacos are $1 and have a wide variety of taco fillings. The fillings are more unique than what I have seen before, such as tripe, and beef cheek. We tried most of them and the tripe really stood out. The tacos are also doubled shelled corn tortilla and they were not dry or brittle at all. Their burrito is made with flour tortilla which gave it a nice chewy texture on top of the flavourful meats.
This place is delicious, one of the better talk taco trucks in the Los Angeles area, my personal favorite thing to order from this place is the mulitas ( quesadilla with meat of choice as well as all the condiments). As you can see from the menu in posted picture there is a great selection. I will say this the tacos are made with the smaller tortillas, two big bites and you can finish those bad boys so adjust your orders accordingly. Highly recommend this place
The taco truck is located off Olympic near Brea and if you get there around 10 pm on a weekday there might be a lineup. Parking is tough to find just be patient something will open up. Its a cash only truck so come prepared and there isn't anywhere to sit so you just kinda find your own spot. Tacos are $1.25 each if I remember correctly and they are really good and they have all the staples like pastor, asada, lengua etc.
Been coming here since 2019. Al pastor is the best here, but everything else is also great
I recently visited El Chato food truck in Los Angeles, and it exceeded my expectations. The tacos were incredibly flavorful, with fresh ingredients and perfectly seasoned meats. The al pastor was a standout, bursting with tangy sweetness and a hint of spice. The staff was friendly and efficient, making the experience even more enjoyable. Prices were reasonable, and the portions were generous. If you're in LA and craving authentic, delicious tacos, El Chato food truck is a must-visit.
