This place is top of the line authentic Szechwan Chinese food. I ordered 4 appetizers: spicy cucumber, fried chicken, the pork wontons & egg rolls. All delicious but you must try the wontons, they are soft dumplings, not fried and come in a sauce that you will want to drink. I ordered 3 entrees: Szechwan beef, chicken chop suey & honey walnut shrimp. Again all delicious but the honey walnut shrimp is a total knock out, would never get sick of eating this dish. It is rich in flavor and not overly sauce-y I ordered 3 sides: shrimp fried rice, garlic green beens & white rice. Shrimp fried rice is soooo good but there’s nothing that can compare to the flavor loaded garlics green beans. They’re juicy and addictively delicious. They are a MUST order item! The thing is it’s not just the food, the service is family owned and it really shows. It’s a very friendly and happy, neighborhood environment to enjoy a meal.

Such a lovely place. My favorite restaurant in LA. The service was awesome! I love the complimentary hot tea and egg rolls. Don't hesitate to go into this place just with the look from the outside! You'll find the best reataurant around here.

I call this area restaurant row because the entire block is filled with good eats. This spot is top 3 in the area imo. Fresh food and friendly staff. The king Pao chicken was tasty and the soup was delicious. Don’t let the exterior deter you, the menu is what matters here.

You would never know. You would drive by it and not see it. You would see it and dismiss it. And you would miss it. The vegetable wonton in soup. The famous string beans. The spicy cucumber. So good. The reviews are real. And for once actually reflect something more than uneducated opinions.

Funny thing, the last time I was here was 48 yrs ago. We celebrated my brother's wedding rehearsal at Hu's. Well, we were pleasantly surprised to find out that this Family owned restaurant had survived these many years while many Family Run Restaurants fell victim to rising cost and the recent Pandemic. If you are looking for great Chinese Comfort Food, Hu's is the place. Everything we ordered was good. I especially loved the Hot and Sour Soup. It was very tasty. So, don't be turned off by the extior, the Service and the Food are well worth the trip to Hu's. Plus,Everyone should support good Family Owned Business

Got the Ma Pao tofu and hot & sour soup togo from this place after a long day of work. Really amazing restaurant quality chinese food, great quality and the staff were very friendly. Looks like a great atmosphere for dining in as well.

I’ve been a loyal customer since 1986: which might make be biased. Wonderful food, so many things not to be missed, cooks hired from Hong Kong. And don’t be afraid to get adventurous, it’s worth it.

This place is great! I've passed by a million times and it often emits a delicious smell. Went there today finally for takeout, and its being Mother's Day, they were slammed. The order took a bit longer than expected because of the crush. They were gracious and even threw in an order of spicy chilled cucumber. The food we ordered was fantastic and man am I glad they threw in the cucumber! I'll be back just for that. Thank you!

Typical Chinese restaurant. Friendly fast service. Large portions for exceptional prices. You can request MSG free. The wantons have an amazing flavor! Defiantly good to go with multiple people and share dishes because there is a lot to try. Also free cucumber salad which is nice for cleansing the palate. The room is kinda old but not unusual. Can’t believe the value and quality for the price! Hot tea is good, service good food amazing! You do have to order rice separate if you want it with an entree. Would defiantly go again.

Ordered takeout online! Loved that I was able to specify vegetarian/vegan. We ordered the vegetarian chow fun (flat noodle), string beans, stir fried vegetables, and country tofu. Everything was delightfully spicy. Will definitely order again. Classic Chinese old school taste coming from an ABC reviewer.

Smaller restaurant but filled with people and surprisingly sufficient seating space. They have a good variety of different dishes. It is perfect for ordering family style. I was happy with the various dishes we ordered. I can recommend the egg rolls. Although Szechuan might indicate spicy food, the food was not too spicy. You can choose from a prefixed menu or order a la carte. The owners are very friendly and help when it comes to deciding what to order. I enjoyed the different types of people. It was overall a very cozy environment. Depending on time and day the parking might be a little tough to get away with.

Reminds me of the Chinese restaurants my family used to go to every Sundays growing up. There's something very familiar and homey about the place. Their dumpling soup packed so much flavor, both in the dumpling and the soup broth. Their sweet and sour pork was flavorful but the meat was tough. Will definitely come back and try their other dishes.

We hadn’t been to Hu's in about 10 years. We couldn’t figure out why and decided to give it another try. They were very kind and had good service. I was given a spoon with some dried on sauce on it and the waiter quickly replaced it, apologized, and then comped us some Szechuan cucumbers which was a very nice thing to do. The food however was mediocre in flavor. About what you'd expect with Westside Chinese. We got spicy noodles that were very spicy, which was good, but didn’t have much flavor, which was bad. The green beans also seemed to lack flavor even though they were cooked with pork. My Kung Pao chicken was goopy and had a bit too much ginger for my taste. The one dish we did like was the shrimp, although it seemed a bit pricey. Overall, the experience wasn't awful but wasn't good enough that we'll be back before another 10 years pass.

Wednesday is the only day you can dine inside the restaurant for dinner now, and you need to call to make reservations, according to the staff. Otherwise it’s take out only. The food was simply ok, decent, not outstanding, but we didn’t try the green beans, or other dishes they seem to be famous for, and got nothing spicy. The hot sour soup was neither, not spicy nor sour. But it was warm and filling. Didn’t see any chili oil to add to food. Not sure if we will try them again. Very chilly inside, not wasting $ on heat for one day. It’s their business and they’re running around so it makes sense.

Ordered 3 boxes of takeout - everything tasted decent but it was very overpriced and one of the entrees upset both my stomach and my bf’s. For the high price I was disappointed that the kung pao beef box was still an inch empty (pictured). We still had a small amount of leftovers but I don’t think it was worth the price and I wouldn’t recommend. I wasn’t able to make their narrow dine-in timeframe so I can’t comment on service or atmosphere.

We love Chinese food. Just moved here to the area and tried this place, right next to our building. Food was pretty good. Orange chicken and honey walnut shrimp. Shrimp was way too mayoey. Food prices are absurd. Paid 60 bucks for fried rice, orange chicken, and the shrimp. Barely fed two people. Definitely won’t be back. Food not worth the price.

Ordered through DoorDash and was amazingly underwhelmed. The portions were laughably small for the price and the amount of meat in the dishes were basically non-existent. I ordered chicken lo mein (the chicken part being 3$ more) and I counted two pieces of chicken. I also got the double cooked pork and it was 90% cabbage. Will not be ordering here again, felt like a huge rip off.

The food was ordered over the phone, and came warm, but extremely underwhelming, disappointing and upsetting for the amount of money for it. $18.00 for a beef and brocolli where the container was not full. When we called to tell them that the containers were not full, we were ridiculed by the male on the phone, after asking for a manager he said "You can speak with me." "We're not a deli. We measure by volume, not weight..." well let me tell you, not only was it very dismissive and rude to state that based on how much money they charge for the small portions, but they ended up having to fix the order, and who would of known, it had more food in it the second time. Other reviews say they felt the small portions were over priced, and it is echoed with our experience. We will not be ordering here again.

Not at all the same — used to be excellent been going to Hu’s for over 30 years, particularly for their hand made tiny delicious pork dumplings in a spicy sauce . Sadly must be new ownership, because nothing is the same. Dumplings are now big and floppy and no more delicious sauce. Kung pow chicken was gooey and not tasty. So sad because Hu’s tiny pork dumplings used to be a special treat and you could see them being hand made.
