The mood is chill, outdoor patio seating, counter service setup. Plenty of seating. We went for lunch and we had the mapo tofu, the beef roll, fried chicken, the minced pork and rice and the pork steamed Buns. All were great, I’d say the buns stole the show.
The beef noodles were really good, especially the beef. The cuts were thick and satisfying in every bite. The shaved ice came in a huge bowl and tasted delicious.
Their Dan Dan noodles have single handedly bought me back to life from the worst hangover of 2025 (AND THEY ARE VEGAN?!) Friendly staff — Luvvvvvvvv Passion Fruit Black Tea those and fried chicken with those crispy leaves. I have experienced every emotion at this place.
Pine and Crane in DTLA is a fantastic spot for anyone who loves authentic Taiwanese cuisine. The restaurant has a casual, modern vibe that feels comfortable for both solo meals and group outings. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. I especially love their dumplings and hand-pulled noodles. The staff are friendly and attentive, making the dining experience smooth and enjoyable. Pine and Crane is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic, high-quality Taiwanese food in a relaxed setting.
The Dan Dan Noodles are a must! Any of the pork bun options are perfect! Always love to come here for birthdays or small celebrations as the atmosphere and customer service is amazing. They do have non alcoholic drinks available by the register line. Also sell milk cartons and full wine bottles! Sake too; always a fun and delicious time here. Bathrooms are clean and I leave full and happy every-time. Always a must for a girls night in DTLA
This place is great for casual dining of Taiwanese food here in DTLA. I was able to get a table reservation for 20 which is nice but it's also a casual order and dine in place. We had a prix fixe menu that had many of the menu items. The beef rolls, popcorn fried chicken, vegan mapotofu, three cup chicken and fried tofu & mushrooms were excellent. The hakka mochi and smashed cucumbers were delicious and refreshing. Overall the food was great. The staff was very attentive and nice. They came over several times to check in on us and see if we needed anything. The decor and atmosphere is cool and a modern. Lots of spacing for individuals to sit at and eat and it's fairly well lit.
We had a great experience eating here! The staff was super friendly and attentive, and our food came out really fast. Everything we ordered was delicious — we got the green milk tea with sea salt cream, popcorn chicken, minced pork over rice, and the Dan Dan noodles. The flavors were fresh and well-balanced, and tasty.
It’s order, pay and then sit down to eat bistro. Pretty authentic Taiwanese plus Chinese fusion style food… the waitress is quite friendly as well. Love their outdoor patio with mesh curtain! The only complain is for the restroom. According to my male friends, there’s only one toilet (no women and men) and toilet paper were all over the place. Other than that, it’s a nice Asian food bistro!
Delightful! Tastes like elevated home cooking - the service and atmosphere reflects that coziness. Of the fried rice cakes, bean curds, sticky rice, wontons, beef noodles, classic shaved ice, and hakka mochi I’ve tried here, I’d get the sticky rice, beef noodles, and hakka mochi again - I’m already craving them and saving this spot for the next time I’m in LA. The noodles were cooked to perfection, and the beef was pull-apart tender. The other items were good to try once- minus the bean curd, which wasn’t to my taste- but I wasn’t obsessed as I was with the three I highlighted. Overall, their food features unique flavor combinations that work - and multiple sources including my taste buds say the soup dishes never miss. The line gets long, but the mini market at the front provides plenty of visual delights to entertain yourself while you wait. Soak up the atmosphere, king!
At this restaurant, you place your order at the counter and pay in advance, so it’s a good idea to have an idea of what you’d like before stepping up to order. The interior is fairly spacious with a nice sense of openness, making it comfortable to dine in without feeling crowded. Drinks such as water are self-serve, which adds to the casual atmosphere. Compared to a full-service restaurant, it feels much more approachable and easy to visit, even for someone dining alone. The food itself was excellent flavorful, well-prepared, and served in portions that felt just right, not overly large. Since the cuisine is Chinese, it’s perfect for sharing with friends or family, allowing everyone to enjoy a variety of dishes together. During my visit, I tried several items including the mapo tofu, boiled dumplings, mixed noodles, and fried chicken. Every dish was delicious, full of flavor, and very satisfying. There were also several types of rice to choose from, which made the meal feel customizable to personal taste. Although I wasn’t able to try dessert this time, the options looked very tempting, and I would love to save room for one on my next visit. The pricing felt quite reasonable given the quality and variety, making it a place I could easily see myself coming back to whenever I’m craving good Chinese food.
This restaurant has become a family favorite and we eat here every time we visit our college son. It never disappoints! We are always pleased with how quickly the food comes out after placing our orders & it’s always delicious. Some of our favorites are the Beef Roll, Panfried Pork Buns, Three Cup Chicken, and Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken. It’s really good to order several dishes & share, and the restaurant encourages this by having small plates available to use. We leave happy and full every time.
Tried Pine and Crane DTLA for the first time a few days back. Ordered takeout. Tried the Dan Dan Noodles and the taste/flavor was incredible! Can feel the quality! As a vegetarian, their menu definitely seems to have some good vegetarian options and I look forward to going back soon to dine-in, eating the Dan Dan Noodles again, trying other menu items, etc.
Absolutely delicious Taiwanese food with a modern twist! You get in line once you arrive, order your food first, and then seat yourself. The seating was a bit limited so our table wasn’t ideal, but I didn’t mind too much. We ordered the popcorn chicken, beef rolls, shrimp wontons, and sha gua mian. The sha gua mian was just alright, but the other dishes were incredible! My favorite is probably the beef rolls, but I’d love to come back and try the other dishes. We also got a milk tea with boba at the end, which my boyfriend (who doesn’t normally like boba) LOVED. Great service too, super quick!
The dumplings are good, great service and atmosphere. It's a westernized and fancier version of Class 302 but with less menu options. The minced pork rice and beef noodle soup are decent.
On approach, there was a small line of people waiting to order. I was looking forward to the Dan Dan Noodles, so I join the queue while checking the menu. A helpful staff took my order and showed me to my table. The noodles definitely lived upto expectations. The softly cooked noodles were complemented by peanut sauce, thin strips of refreshing cucumber, coriander and sesame seeds - so smooth and creamy. The Forbidden Rice Pudding was a satisfying combination of black sticky rice, chewy taro and sweet potato balls and coconut milk. Service was a little patchy overall except when the original server who took my order passed by - he was attentive and on point. The place was bustling from the weekend lunch crowd, clearly a popular choice for many. I'm sure this isn't my last visit to them - next time I'll try out the other offerings on the diverse menu.
What makes this place great is the consistency of the quality and flavors of their food. A great variety of authentic Taiwanese dishes. This time I enjoyed my breakfast rice porridge with all the accoutrement bringing me back to my youthful days in Asia. Only street parking but on Sunday street parking is free.
Decided to try this place when we were in downtown LA. The atmosphere was very nice, service was friendly, reasonable prices, however, the food was not the best. We ordered before sitting down, and my food was ready in less than a minute. Made me question the freshness of the food. The rice was bland with no flavor at all. Not my cup of tea.
Pine & Crane has a stylish, modern vibe and a menu that puts a fresh spin on classic Taiwanese and Chinese dishes. The ingredients taste fresh, and the presentation is solid. I really enjoyed the Dan Dan noodles and the Mapo Tofu —both had great texture and flavor. That said, the experience didn’t totally live up to the hype. The service was friendly but slow, and a couple of dishes, like the hot and sour soup and beef noodle soup lacked the boldness and heat I expected. Portion sizes felt a bit small for the price, especially given the more casual, order-at-the-counter setup. Overall, it’s a decent spot if you’re in the mood for something light and modern, but it didn’t quite wow me. Worth trying once, but not sure I’d rush back.
