One of the best in LA! I love that they use charcoal still The Bulgogi is stoopid good...the perfect tangy and rich flavor The Baby Back Ribs are amazing too All the kimchi is rockin...hard to choose the best Amazing service....you'll never wait for a thing
The parking is little crazy, but once you get in, it's all smoky and bunch of barbecue cooking right on the table. It makes you feel like you're at a true Korean barbecue house. The marinated ribs are really tender and it melts your mouth. The flavor is awesome! They also serve you with a vinegarett salad which it goes well with the meats. We also had the marinated shrimp and the squid that you can cook on the table and it was delicious. It's little pricey because you have to order several different kinds and the price starts to add up. We spent about $250 for 2 people...but still You gotta try it out!
This was my first time visiting this restaurant. I ordered beef ribs and pork ribs, and they were incredibly delicious—not too sweet or too salty. They also have a secret menu item that's not on the regular menu: "ice rice," which is rice served in a refreshing cold radish kimchi broth. It was so refreshing and delicious that I started eating it before I even thought to take a picture! They also have kimchi noodle soup, which is a perfect palate cleanser after eating the meat. I'll definitely visit again when I'm in LA.
Very nice, low key Korean BBQ. The meat is very well cooked and they're anong very few Korean BBQs that use real wooden charcoals! A piece of advice - bring a bottle of your own red wine as they don't have a wine list (just some limited alcohol on a menu). Their corkage fee is acceptable.
The Soot Bull Galbi here has absolutely perfect seasoning and flavor. The meat is well-aged, tender, and full of depth. The staff are very friendly and grill the meat to perfection for you. Although the prices are on the higher side, I highly recommend this place if you want to experience authentic, delicious Korean charcoal-grilled galbi like in Korea. For reference, the beef galbi is much better than the pork galbi.
Soot Bull Jip is a fantastic and traditional Korean BBQ spot that truly hits the spot. Don't come expecting a fancy atmosphere—it's a no-frills, hole-in-the-wall kind of place where the focus is entirely on the amazing food. The meat is absolutely delicious, and the experience of grilling it right at your table is authentic and fun. They are very welcoming to groups, making it a perfect spot for a lively dinner with 6 to 8 people. Just remember two things: you will leave deliciously smoked, so dress casually! Also, they have a two-order minimum on meats. A must-visit for a genuine and satisfying KBBQ experience.
Great food, amazing service. The marinated beef was the best! Authentic flavors with lovely scent from the wooden charcoals. Service was outstanding, they cooked the meat to perfection. We didn't need to do anything. We went on a weekday lunch so it was quite empty. Plenty of parking available. Would definitely return.
This is a must visit whenever I'm in town. Parking is tight and the neighborhood is crammed so be aware you need a little extra time. The last of the charcoal grills. Amazing marinated meats and the staff here is super nice to me - the whitest man alive - and does the cooking but some guests manage their own grill. It's expensive - dinner for two this weekend was $130 for two meats, a beer and a coke. Worth it.
I love a good galbi, and this place delivered. For any K-BBQ spot, the meat quality, marinade, and how it’s cooked all matter — and they nailed all three. I only tried their soot bull galbi ($52), but it was spot on. The marinade wasn’t overly sweet, the meat was super tender, and grilling it over charcoal gave it a deep, smoky flavor that really stood out. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure the meat was cooked just right. Sides were solid and came with unlimited refills, which I always appreciate. Parking is limited right next to the restaurant, and the only downside was the heavy charcoal smoke that lingers on you the whole day. Overall, it’s one of the better values in K-town for quality galbi. Compared to other well-known spots that are just okay, this one actually lives up to the hype.
This restaurant has a traditional old-school vibe, and it’s rare to find a Korean BBQ place that still uses charcoal grills. The marinated beef ribs taste great, and the beef tongue is fresh with that delicious charcoal-grilled flavor. If you enjoy simple, authentic flavors, especially marinated beef and pork ribs, you should give this place a try.
Charcoal grill KBBQ place. Good quality meats, a bit pricy for two with the minimum two meat order. We ordered the marinated short rib and the prime ribeye. The server grilled it for us. Both were tasty and tender. The banchan was plentiful, however I saw on the menu there is an extra $2 refill charge. We left feeling full and satisfied. Seating - Lots of tables but there is a waitlist if busy. We had no wait for 2 at 7PM on a Friday. Parking- small lot
Delicious but the smoke from grilling will leave you smelling like barbecue when you leave. We had a late lunch around 330pm on a weekday so no wait time. But close to 5pm it started to get very busy. Fresh meats and the waiter grills it for you. We splurged on the steak, worth it. There's a parking lot so it beats driving around the block for parking.
Good time and authentic experience. Went to a holiday party with large group of people. Staff was extremely attentive. Food was good. Left smelling like delicious Korean BBQ.
Most of their exhaust fans don't work well. There is so much smoke in the entire restaurant. Smoke gets in your eyes cause the exhaust fan is not pulling the smoke up, it's all over the table.
Excellent Kbar. The BBQ is definitely good, but the attitude and mindset from staff is exceptional. They will ensure what you're cooking is cooked well without intruding in your conversation. Whoever is training the employees here is in point. There are many KBBQ places in this area, I believe in this one. Check it out and throw your own review.
Well marinated and good quality meats usually marinated in a sweet soy sauce on a charcoal grill. The short ribs, kalbi, were the best item. Kalbi was tender and much better than most places. Beef tongue was thinly cut and good. Baby back ribs are quite unique for a Korean BBQ restaurant, they were good but not sure if the price matched. Ban chan and salad with green onion were pretty good
The selection of beef, pork, and chicken were quite tasty. And the server did the cooking on the charcoal + gas grill, changing the grill between every other grill selection. I didn't recall any single stand out detail which would make this K-BBQ memorable over any other. The group I had dinner with were more stand out than the overall decor. the parking is very limited even if you're early. the parking attendant will help you find a spot, with a better chance if there are others with you in the same car. street parking is even more limited. on a really busy night, there are other similar places that can be a possibility.
The food was decent overall. The lady waitress, especially, was very kind and attentive — she even brought us extra tofu, which we appreciated. However, the male staff member made us feel quite uncomfortable. He served undercooked pork ribs directly in front of me (I was there with my husband and children) and kept pushing pieces with hard, inedible skin and bone toward my plate. Despite chewing several times, the meat was still undercooked and mushy — I had to spit it out multiple times. That part of the experience really ruined the meal. He acted like he was being helpful, but in reality, he was quite rude. He told me to portion out the food like a mom and even assigned me the role of serving everyone at the table. It may have sounded polite, but it was incredibly disrespectful. We went out of our way to visit this place, but we won’t be coming back. That said, the beef short ribs were delicious, and I truly appreciate the kindness of the other waitress
