I grew up in Tarzana during the 1960s & early 70s. My parents would often get Cantonese take-out from a place that was once down the street from the Szechuan Garden. I wanted to revisit some fond culinary memories of my childhood, so I stopped by the Szechuan Garden to order three items that my parents always ordered. I was more than pleased with the Szechuan Garden, as it far surpassed the quality of what I ate as a child. The portions of food served were huge. The food was flavorful & fresh. As an adult, I never eat egg foo young, but I had to try at Szechuan Garden and I was very pleased. The egg foo young was delicious and not served in a gelatinous gooey gravy that I remembered from my childhood. If I was a local, I'd be back.

Came here with a group and everything was on point. The service was fast and the staff was cool — really took care of us without hovering. Food came out hot and fresh. The noodles, fried rice, and orange chicken were legit — full of flavor and cooked right. They even hooked us up with free egg rolls, which was a nice touch. Portions are big, so it’s perfect for sharing or just going in hard if you’re hungry. Overall, this place delivers. No BS, just good food and solid vibes. Will definitely be back.

Came for the lunch special they had going on and it was surprisingly good. When I went, lunch specials start at $11 and up. Service was great and quick, food was good and it assuming that the dinner will be better and overall it was a good first experience. The atmosphere was kind of dead but it was about to pick up when I was getting ready to leave.

I moved out to Los Angeles from New York over a year ago and since then I have been trying to find a Chinese restaurant that compares to the ones I love in New York and finally I have, Szechuwan Garden. I had a wonderful experience here and I already can't wait to go back. The restaurant is very nice inside, I adored the peaceful vibes and gorgeous decor. The service was very good and the food was absolutely delicious. My party and I all ordered the lunch special (choice of soup or salad, an egg roll, choice of rice, and an entrée) and every one of us was extremely happy with our food. The crispy noodles that we were served when we sat down were so good that we asked for more. The egg flower soup I had was outstanding and I am sad that I am not eating it right now. The chicken with soft noodles was so plentiful and tasty that I took it home and ate the rest for dinner. I can't recommend this restaurant enough!

$10 lunch specials! You can’t go wrong with that. I drive by this place all the time and finally made it inside. I got the Szechuwan Shrimp but asked for it with no spice because I can’t do anything spicy. You also get a delicious egg role and a soup or salad along with rice. It’s a really good deal. You can do the same meals for dinner time for $2 more if you want a smaller option. The ambiance inside is nice. They have both booths and tables to choose from and the servers were all super friendly as well. It was raining today, so it was a nice rainy day treat. Parking lot in front and a small parking lot in the back.

I ordered the Mongolian beef lunch special. For $10.50 I got the mongolian beef with a choice of rice, choice of either egg, sunflower soup or sweet and sour soup, and one vegetable egg roll. It was really good. For the price its excellent. I want to try dining there the restaurant is really nice. Lady who got my order was really friendly too. Made my order in 10 min. I'll definitely come back.

Oh come on, this place is 5 stars on all levels! Finally! There's a place on Ventura Boulevard with affordable prices, and good quality Chinese food. Service is exceptional. The food is great, but our server Joseph stole the show. He's very humble, attentive and as classy as a server can be. The care and attention to detail he took preparing the Mu Shu showed. I Highly recommend the Thai Iced Tea. Food: In general, the portions are HUGE. Definitely 30% more quantity than other places, AND still at a reasonable price. Fried Rice is divine. Lots of protein, and the rice has a nice chew and mouth feel. Mu Shu: not salty at all, even the plum sauce was a perfect blend of umami and flavor, with just a hint of sweet. Sesame Chicken: my favorite. Not too breaded, not too sweet. I think it's the perfect blend of crunchy and crispy. Mongolian Beef: another favorite of mine. Tender cuts of beef, tossed with green onion in a brown sauce. Very savory. Shrimp with mushrooms: very tasty, and tender shrimp. Not overcooked at all. It's got a nice chew to it, and the mushrooms are very tender and flavorful. Fried Fish: crispy! You can opt for the jalapeno on top, or leave it plain. Egg rolls: 4 in an order. Very crispy, a golden brown color. The inside is steaming hot with a mix of cabbage and vegetable. Parking: it's part of a small strip mall with other restaurants. If you come during the week for dinner, there should be plenty of spaces, and a couple of handicap spots available. Decor: I would call it modern classy. Some LED light accents adorn paintings on the wall, very clean and pristine. They are really good about keeping the place spotless. Overall, I am quite pleased with this place. First time visiting, and I will definitely be back! For the value you're getting, the price you pay and the quantity of food you receive, also the taste and quality of that food, I would say this place is a winner!

In from out of town for an appointment and found this wonderful little spot! Incredible food at an exceptionally affordable price during their lunch hours 11am to 3pm. I dined with a friend and between is both we had incredible shrimp entrées (Spicy honey shrimp and fried rice pictured) which included choice of soup or salad and an egg roll for only $11 EACH! The service was prompt and courteous with used dishware removed soon after being set aside keeping the environment welcoming and uncluttered. Both my friend and I will dine here again! 💜💜💜

9/22/19.. I am glad to see this place open here in Tarzana. Szechuwan Garden has been my favorite Chinese food place to go in the valley... They have another location in Canoga and it is closed for remodeling. Same great food friendly service and did I mention the food? My favorite dish is the salt and pepper pork chops always well done and full of flavor. I highly recommend this place to anyone that likes great Chinese food.

Went here for the first time with a friend for lunch. Had shrimp in lobster sauce, pork fried rice and moo goo gai pan. Everything came out hot and super delicious. There was plenty of food to eat there and take home for another meal. The waiter was very attentive, made suggestions, and was friendly and pleasant. The restaurant is about 8 miles from my house but is worth the drive. I will definitely make it my go to place for good Chinese food! Highly recommended this place.

One of my go-to Chinese Restsurants when in the (SF) Valley. Psrking in front is tight; more in the back. I walked in and waited about a minutr until I was greeted, taken to a table and they took my drink order. This visit I had Diet Coke with Kung Pao Beef and stesmed rice. The beef was spicy, but cut too karge of a piece for my preference. Taste was good, not great. They do NOT velvet the beef ... I stop ordering beef when it is velvetted ... this was traditional. Steamed rice was not lumpy, cooked right. Spring Rolls came and were very hot ... tasted very good with duck ssuce and Chinese Mustard. Good experience, and they do spicy .

I really struggled with whether or not to give this restaurant a five or four star. I think a 4 and a half would be perfect and I'll explain why. The atmosphere and decor was very nice. I really liked the lighting overall and the bamboo area. The food is very good and they give the biggest portions I've ever seen at an Asian restaurant with reasonable prices. Another added feature is that they serve Chinese and Japanese food so it was nice to be able to order sushi with our meals. When ordering a dinner meal they give you a big bowl of soup, not a cup like you usually get with most dinner combos at other restaurants of this type. The cream cheese crab rangoon was at least 3 times the size as any I've ever seen. The actual portions of the main course were huge, as well. We were there for 2 of our birthdays and they were nice enough to bring out 2 ice creams with candles and sing happy birthday. Another thing, the ice tea was especially good! Here is the problem. The waiter we had seem to get frustrated with us, when trying to take our order. I think because he didn't understand (possible language barrier) and he would just walk away, without warning, and start waiting on other tables and do other things. He even seemed a little mad even when we were talking to him so nicely. He did this a couple times so it took a very long time to get our main order taken. We had previously ordered some appetizers and drinks and did receive those with some confusion. We finally flagged down another lady that worked there to help us and she brought another waiter and they served us well. But the first waiter also messed up our tickets so much that they had a hard time figuring it out and never got it right, so we just had to figure it out ourselves. With all this, there was plenty of positive that we would still be back.

Great ambience, plates dished out were well balanced not salty, not tangy, not spicy, not sweet and not Sourish. Pricing absolutely affordable, the egg flower soup and spring rolls were great. The stewards are bit slow in paying attention if not this place is a gem.

It’s okay! Portions are big enough to share which would be nice for a family. Our group ordered two spicy dishes and both weren’t spicy at all. The cream cheese wontons were weird and tasted off. Fried rice was just rice with soy sauce on it. Everything was just “okay”. The service was fine enough. Plenty of parking.

Ordered takeout so can’t speak on atmosphere but it looked pretty nice inside. The portions are very large. I thought I ordered kung pao tofu but it kinda tastes more like ma po tofu. It was still good. The chow mein was very good. I’ll come back for the chow mein and try other dishes. The tangerine chicken wasn’t very crispy like orange chicken but it was not bad

First and Last: I been trying since feb last year to order food from my local restaurant, for the first time I order today and it was not horrible but it was not good either. I order 913. honey chicken the crust it was so thick and the chicken almost nonexistent, 1202 ship or combination Lo me in, it was so soggy and overcook the noodle, the mix tempura it was edible, G05 cucumber salad they top it with imitation crab meat, and they ruined it, G06 seaweed salad was edible and Thai Iced Tea that has so many ice that was tasteless. I cannoned eat 2 things of my $43.80 so disappointed.
