Fantastic owners, fantastic pizza. . Our new favorite pizza spot on the west side.
The pizza was excellent. This place does deserve the high rating. Just call ahead because parking is limited and there is very little room inside to wait, obviously this drags the atmosphere rating down but that's not why you come here anyway. For best experience, I recommend getting a whole fresh pizza instead of slices.
incredible pizza – order in advance as they are very busy, but well worth it!
Absolutely perfect pizza joint. Friendly, fast, fresh and great dough. Cash only. Owner run. Since 1968!? 400+ reviews and basically 5 stars. The people that didn’t leave 5 stars are probably miserable people wherever they go and whatever they do.
This place is legit. One of the best pizza places in LA! Also know you're supporting a local mom and pop shop with fantastic pizza, and that alone is worth every penny. (updating this review after seeing prices at other places and DAMN you get great pizza for a great price here. Enjoy!)
Best pizza by the best people in town. My favorite pizza spot
Great spot for take-out pizza. Cash only!
Best Pizza In Los Angeles! We Love Coop Pizza and The Owners Are Great!
MY favorite pizza place in LA! I love coming in and seeing familiar faces. To me, this is how Pizza is suppose to taste. If you haven't tried them, go grab a slice and you'll be hooked. I am so grateful with all the turnover and businesses closing that The COOP is still here and I hope it always will be
Cash only but costs less without losing any quality at all. This is absolutely the best pizza per dollar I've ever had and also falls into my top 3 quality wise. I usually don't even like pizza but my pizza obsessed friend with the last name Cooper really wanted to try this so I joined and was blown away. Ended up having it 2 days in a row. If all you want is a cheese pizza you still don't be disappointed. The garlic bread is phenomenal too. If you order for pickup the time they give you is accurate. They ask for your number and might call if you don't pick up for long enough, but I am generally on time for everything and can't confirm if they call or not
Super solid NY Style. Old school., No frills —delicious pizza. This family is working hard. Two ovens filled up so pizza takes about an hour when they are slammed. CASH only…which is refreshing these days. It’s the new spot for me-in the land of overpriced, overhyped pizza, this is such a treat—
Love the owners - great people doing great business. The pizzas are great and I hope they stay open forever!!! Definitely check this place out if you like pizza - it won’t disappoint :) ***cash only!
The best hole in the wall pizza I've had in LA. They are a cash only mom and pop type of joint and their pizza is amazing and always fresh as they are made on order, albeit on the pricier side. You can't go wrong with their classic pepperoni pizza.
I have been eating pizza from the coop for 10 years. Even after I moved away from the neighborhood, the excellent quality and friendly service have me coming back. Very highly recommended if you enjoy a solid slice of NY-style pizza -- at a good price, too! Be persistent if you don't reach them on the phone, they are very busy. You can also call ahead earlier in the day and order ahead.
My daughters pediatrician recommended us to this pizza that was the most authentic he’d had in LA to the east coast. HOLY MOTHER OF PEARL... it is addicting. Service is always amazing, beautiful mom and pop shop with quality food and ingredients. The dough is not too thick or too thin. Walking up you can see all the work being done by hand. Don’t be surprised if you call and they’re putting pies in the oven and you gotta hang on for a quick sec. They just really are the sweetest kindest pizza shop and they have a serious passion for pizza making and keeping our community happy. Who doesn’t love The Coop?
Delicious pizza at a great price. The two owners are truly kind hearted people. Their warmth and helpfulness really stood out to us - total lifesavers when we found ourselves in a tough situation with our car. Thank you SO much!!
Today I tried the best pepperoni and sausage calzone I've ever had. I don't know how it could possibly be any better. Absolutely delisous!! The price wasn't bad at all. $13 for hefty calzone, worth every penny. Based on that and the service 5/5 stars. I will return for the pizza.
This review is long overdue, best pizza I've found in LA keep coming back here even after moving further away, worth the drive! Just wish they would take credit cards ( gladly pay a cc fee ) but getting cash first isn't that big of a deal the food is worth the extra hassle. Don't let the exterior and or location fool you! Go in and get some pizza you won't regret it!
great neighborhood joint to order pick up or delivery but also an awesome on-the-way spot for a slice
This is hands down the best pizza in the city. I’ve been a loyal customer for 15 years, they’re the absolute best.
As a Chicagoan, this NY style pizza is GOOD! I get a medium, easy extra sauce, pepperoni and sausage. Ran me about $17, which isn’t too bad. The lovely lady taking the orders is super sweet and so is the gentlemen making the food. Cash only and you can get a slice for $3.50. They also have Italian dinners for a reasonable price. Love them💚
Great place and great owner, I am sorry I found this place late in my trip. I love these old school places and this one didn't disappoint. I highly recommend this place!!
We've walked and driven by this place countless times before finally trying Coop Pizza. Boy, oh boy - were we in for a treat! TLDR: This is our new neighborhood pizza joint with some legit pizza. Initially, we had very low expectations. The somewhat run-down exterior didn't suggest five-star quality pizza. Despite driving by multiple times, we never ventured in. This was truly a case of looks being deceiving. After hearing people rave about Coop Pizza - some even driving out of their way for a slice - our curiosity grew. Could it really be that good? One night, we spontaneously ordered an XL for pickup, and Coop Pizza instantly became our new favorite spot. The size was perfect for two adults with plenty of leftovers. The reviews are genuine. The people are fantastic. The pizza is delicious. No frills whatsoever. The owners, Christina and her husband Mike, are absolute gems who pour their whole hearts into their craft, and it shows. They were very kind, patient and super personable. Heads up: this place is cash only - make sure to bring extra for tip!
Super pleasant meeting Michael and Christine. Pizza was super and I was happy stopping by. Hopefully will have a chance to visit again. Best wishes from Lithuania. Stay healthy!
Old fashioned pizza place where the owner Mike hand tosses every pizza by hand and makes the most delicious pizza in town.
A tiny hole in the wall that has been around forever. Our first time going and we will definitely be ordering from them again! Classic no frills pizza at solid prices.
I’ve been going to coops for years and they never disappoint. My New York friends always say it reminds them of home. Don’t sleep on the lasagna either. Cash only and be sure to be patient, especially with the sweet lady at the register!

Love this family and how they make their pizza. So fresh and crispy. Order first and pick up steaming hot. Been going here over 20 years. There are fresh slices but I can’t help myself. I order the large!
Astonishingly great pizza! Being retired military, I have enjoyed pizza in 40 of the 48 states. This place is #2 on my list of all-time best pizza! The folks are friendly and humble. A Must for any Pizza aficionado! 10 thumbs up!
I love this place. Been going for over 15+ years. My kids love it and prefer it over any other pizza places. Family run, sweet people.
It’s super budget friendly and the pizza is honestly just fantastic. The sauce tastes zesty and fresh and the cheese has a bit of caramelization to it. It’s quality and home-made. Really nice owners too.
The Coop is hands-down my favorite pizza place. I grew up going there with my parents on special occasions, and every bite still takes me back. Way better than any chain spot, The Coop makes every pizza with top-notch ingredients that just come together perfectly. I always go for the extra-large Coop pizza, and it's phenomenal every single time. When I think of the perfect slice, I think of The Coop.
Best pizza in LA hands down. It’s got the New York style down from the flavorful crispy crust to the perfect gooey cheese, even down to the gruff gentleman behind the counter slinging slices. A hidden gem. My only complaint is that I wish they were open every day of the week but we can’t have everything we want in life :,)
Not sure what y’all want for atmosphere, but this is just great pizza at a mom n pop place. Get a slice to eat there (stand at the counter) or take a whole pie home (we start eating once we get in the car w a couple of paper plates). There’s a liquor store right next door too, in case you need a liter bottle of coke, but The Coop does have sodas for sale as well. We love this place. I found this place when I lived in Venice and I introduced my wife to the Coop and now this is the only pizza place we eat around here… we now live in Silverlake and HAVE TO make a stop here whenever we’re on the West Side.
An absolute neighborhood gem! This place is family run and makes solid pizzas for great prices. The staff is super nice and accommodating. Note that they now accept card, although with a 3% surcharge.
Anyone that says the positive reviews are fake are jaded. Genuinely the best pizza I’ve had in LA, and the family that run it are wonderful, warm and hardworking people. I don’t think you have to compare it to NY pizza, it’s just standalone good—and you can tell a lot of care went into it. The quality and price is also great compared to other spots that charge $30+ for a pie. Sure it’s near the station, but there’s a parking lot you can quickly just stop in to pick up. It’s our new go-to pizzeria moving forward, and we’re happy to be able to support such a gem.
I love this place so much! I grew up eating this pizza and it still tastes just as good as when I first had it. The owners are wonderful people also!! COOP PIZZA FOREVER ❤️
Expect a nostalgic takeout pizza joint, and you won't be disappointed. Food is awesome. Prices are pre-inflation. Decor and the whole vibe is from decades past. It's tiny, looks like a dive, and yet charming. Smells divine. Tastes unbelievable.
Call in orders and expect about 45 minutes. They are usually busy . Very well worth the wait. Please be patient. The onions and garlic on pizza are my favorite. Make it how you want it. Delicious

Live in the area over 30 years Finally stopped in with Wifey Not bad at all. Reasonable price, fresh dough. A bit paltry on toppings Otherwise I'll stop by again.
This is definitely an amazing hole-in-the-wall mom and pop pizza place and the flavor profile is amazing. I never thought I'd describe pizza as "clean tasting" but this is a fitting description. Simple flavors that don't overpower each other too much, not overwhelming for the palate yet still so flavorful. There's an older gentleman who makes the pizzas from scratch when an order is placed. Be prepared to wait anywhere from 45 minutes to 1 hour once you place your order. They do sell by the slice as well. The service is not the greatest, as the front desk attendant can be a bit curt. But the food definitely stands out from any other pizza joint I've visited. There's also no tables to dine, everything's to-go only. Cash only as well.
Good pizza with a nice amount of cheese & sauce that doesn’t feel like they over did it. The key is to eat this as fresh as possible if not then it will most likely lose its value. The place is very tiny and cash only plus it may take awhile. It is always good to try small mom&pop shops like this so check them out.
Really awesome place for high quality pizza! I ordered a cheese pizza and it was flavorful; their sauce and cheese really compliment each other and go well with the thinner crust. The pizza alone would be 5 stars. I ordered the garlic bread too based off another review which commended it but I was personally unimpressed: it was essentially a loaf of bread with some garlic butter and seasoning in the middle. Hence the 4 stars. By being cash only, sticking with a simple menu and keeping staff light, they're able to cut costs and serve their food at a great price. Note that the wait times are long (due to light staff), especially during busy hours but it's worth it for a well-priced, tasty pizza.
Yes, the pizza is good, New York style. Reasonable prices too but it's CASH ONLY here, fyi. First, the parking is not good. No lot. Squeeze up in front on a red zone with your flashers on, no problem or u might get lucky + grab 1 of the 2 spots out front. U CAN easily park a block away in neighborhood, fyi. Alot of their biz comes from people just walking there from the neighborhood. My XL Pepperoni took 45mins, a little long but they do hand-spin their dough, old school style. I thought it was good, perhaps not the greatest as the sauce could've been zingier, but it was definitely something I'd go back again for. Lots of toppings offered plus some pastas as well as the option to make your pizza Deep Dish. My XL with 1 topping was $24. Friendly, family-run business. A nice place to patronize.
We grabbed pizza from here based on reading that it had good New York style slices. Well, they had GREAT New York pizza. Probably one of the best of its kind in Los Angeles that we've had. We got a large pepperoni and a medium mushroom. The shrooms were fresh and plentiful and the pepperoni was a typical amount, meaning we wish there had been more of it. But the crust and cheese and sauce were just right. We also got an antipasto salad that was served crammed in a Chinese takeout box. Definitely needed more meat and dressing. It was just alright. So was the garlic bread, but I guess for the price you sure did get a lot. We will be back and we will get enough pizza for friends. Heads up! it is hard to find as it is a hole in the wall around the corner from the Indian restaurant. No seating that I could see, so be prepared to eat on the go. Oh, and cash only so bring dem bills.

Man, I really don’t like leaving bad reviews, but this pizza was mediocre at best despite good service. Either this place has a ton of fake reviews or the majority of these people have absolutely no idea what good pizza taste like, let alone have any idea what New York style pizza actually taste like. I ordered a large supreme and to my surprise it was actually a medium. A large pizza is not 14 inches, but here that is the case. If I had known I needed to order an extra large pizza just to have a large pizza I would’ve done so, but they also don’t have a website so in all honesty it’s hard to know. By the time I got home, the pizza was soggy, and I was not at all impressed based on the amount of reviews this place has. Come for a slice, but don’t get a pie unless you enjoy being disappointed. Hate to say it but I will definitely not be ordering from here again. Step it up y’all, it’s pizza.
