We got takeout and honestly one of the best Chinese I've ever had. So much flavor. Get the slippery shrimp. The yang chow fried rice and the Szechwan chicken. So good.
Hot. Tasty. Perfectly cooked Chinese food. Reasonable prices. Order a little of everything and share it family style. Belly left smiling.
The food here is great. Portions are massive and prices are decent. I really liked the sczechuan orange chicken and the shrimp fried rice. Had a bit of a wait but no too bad and it's a popular spot so it's expected. Servers English wasn't the best but everything went well. I think I'll definitely come here again
Man.... a very rare find, true 5-star all around: the food, the service, the atmosphere AND the pricing.... Visiting LA from GA, i stopped by for late lunch... and thank God it was late lunch, otherwise I wouldn't have even gotten in!!! Yes, it was still almost full and since I went alone I felt bad I would take up one of their tables!!!! Okay, I am not trying to be racist, but i have encountered many, including Koreans, old cranky Asian ladies(usually owners), but not this one, from the beginning the classy lady was very kind and didn't mind giving me a table even though I went there alone. Boy, that was only the beginning; the entire staff was so nice, not just my waiter, everyone, really!!!! And Benny, I think the manager, came over a couple of times to check up on me, a table for ONE!!! Moreover, their signature Slippery Shirmp was excellent, on-point, crunch and with delicious flavors.... Wait, there is more: thw price was soooooo reasonable, especially in this inflation age, I could not believe it, with very generous portion as well. How can I not give the 5-star for this wonderful restaurant 😍, it actually deserves 7-star if such thing existed. I am certainly stopping by this restaurant whenever I am in town to try other menu items, and i will definitely recommend to my friends in the area.... EXCELLENT food and IMPRESSIVE service, thank you!!! 🙏🙏🙏
Decided to go Chinatown and eat here because of good reviews. Was seated immediately, we are a group of 8. Our server has a bit of difficulty speaking english when we ask questions but the serving is huge. We ended up ordering plenty because of the misunderstanding that each order is good for one when it fact, it is a platter. From the soup, to rice, to everything is huge portion so keep that in mind. The location is not very far from $7 parking garage, used to be $5. Pretty easy to find. If you are looking for good Chinese food, this is your place. Ambiance is so so but we did not mind since all we did was talk. We liked everything, I particularly liked the Slippery Shrimp, Braised Tofu (a hint of spice) and Pork Chop. The Duck is kinda dry.
Yang Chow is always a great stop in Chinatown. The food is so good the fried rice, dumplings, and string beans are all must orders. Their Slippery Shrimp, which is one of their most famous dishes, is a must-try too. The Kung Pao, Chow Mein are also super popular and never disappoint. The service is attentive even when the place is packed, and it’s almost always crowded, but honestly the wait is worth it every time. I also love looking at all the celebrity photos on the wall, it gives the restaurant that classic, old school Chinatown charm.
This is now our second time visiting Yang Chow, and I’m always impressed. The food is wonderful and the portions are HUGE (we always go home with leftovers.) I’ve seen some mixed reviews on the service, but our server, Benny, was FANTASTIC. Very attentive, personal, and made us laugh. He was also very careful with a shrimp allergy in our party. We came in at 5pm and told them we needed to be out by 6:30 and would prefer fast service. I kid you not, we had food on the table by 5:10 and our full meal by 5:20. We were out at 6:15! Additionally, they have validated parking in the back, behind the building. This is now our new spot and we will be back anytime we want great Chinese food.
This is a great place to grab some delicious Chinese food. The wall of celebrities shows its long history. I recommend ordering the slippery shrimp and fried rice. They have a private parking lot and there’s also a paid lot down the street. Staff are attentive and service is great. They also have cocktails, if you’re looking to paint the town red.
Due to traffic, I chose to order dinner through DoorDash last night, selecting the orange chicken, chicken fried rice, and slippery shrimp. Upon arrival, I was pleased to find that all dishes were served at the correct temperature. The slippery shrimp was particularly impressive, while the orange chicken with broccoli and chicken fried rice were also enjoyable. The quality of the meal justified the expense.
My wife and I stopped in yesterday, and I have to say the customer service truly elevated the entire experience—it made the food taste even better. As soon as you walk in, you’re greeted by walls filled with photos of celebrities who have visited, including Magic Johnson and many more. The must-try dish here is definitely the famous slippery shrimp, which people travel from all over to enjoy. We paired it with chicken fried rice, and the portions were generous enough for two. A great experience all around!
08/01/2025 It’s easy to give 5 stars when someone picked the tab. Anyways, so much food was ordered. I am still full after few hours. I think for two people, it is best to order 2 dishes instead of four. I guess we will Chinese food for dinner and lunch tomorrow. I really liked their fried rice and slippery shrimp.
5 stars! Awesome authentic Chinese food. The orange chicken was a higher quality than we're use to at normal fast food restaurants, and noodles were good too. Soft spring rolls were soft and tasted good too. You won't be disappointed. Outside it looks like a hole in the wall place, but inside it looks very nice.
Yummy Chinese food in Chinatown. Saw all the reviews on google and decided to stop by while in Chinatown. Everything we had was delicious. For appetizer we ordered the shrimp toast and it was so delicious, perfectly crispy and the shrimp filling was so tasty! We also ordered the chicken fried rice and sliced chicken with hot spicy garlic sauce and it was so good I would definitely recommend this restaurant if in the area and in the mood for some good Chinese. I will be back when I’m LA again!!!
Update: Slippery shrimp no matter what. In fact, get all the shrimp dishes. LOL. Really surprised with how great the food was here. The slippery shrimp was great and the noodles dished were all great as well. The pork chop noodles were superb as the pork chops come out crispy and piping hot. Valet available with tips only. Great all around experience here!

ate here before going to the Amenson Theater. I have never been disappointed eating here ever. Best chinese food you will ever have.
Wonderful dinner at Yang Chow in China Town Los Angeles!! Slippery shrimp was so delicious!! Mojito was wonderful too!
Came here for an early dinner around 5pm on a Saturday, and there was no wait. We got the Chinese baby cabbage with black mushrooms and the fish fillet with Chinese wine sauce. The dishes were surprisingly big, and the food was ready quickly. The Chinese cabbage and mushroom dish was solid and not too salty. The fish fillet was soft. The sauce was interesting, and had a slightly sweet taste. Our waiter was fun and made conversation with us.
Overall food was pretty good and came at decent prices. The sizzling rice soup was one of the highlights. Good value and taste. General Tsengs chicken dish was also good, and something I hadn't seen before. Pan fried noodles and dumplings were good but nothing special. Service was excellent - continuous water refills, they package leftovers, and everyone is friendly.

Good place for nostalgic Chinese food. Service was good. Food was very tasty and quick service. This restaurant is known for their silken shrimp and chicken. So yummy

Not a single asian customer when we get here. We were so confused because they had really high ratings. The food was ok, I like the soup
There are a lot of Chinese restaurants in this area that are just as good, if not better than this place with probably less of a wait. I went here not knowing that my sister saw this place on TikTok and wanted to try their slippery shrimp. What we ordered, most liked to least: SHRIMP FRIED RICE - It wasn’t super greasy like you’d expect fried rice to be. It had a good flavor to it, light (didn’t seem like it had soy sauce) and had a good amount of shrimp. KUNG PAO CHICKEN - Flavorful, the only thing I wasn’t too fond of was there seemed to be more green onions and peanuts than chicken. SLIPPERY SHRIMP - It was good but I prefer my original walnut shrimp. It reminded me of the shrimp version of orange chicken (but less tangier). Chicken LO MIEN NOODLES - the main flavor I tasted was soy sauce. In my opinion, there wasn’t a good balance of flavors with this dish. I don’t recommend it. SERVICE: Workers were super friendly. Food came out very quickly. What wasn’t quick was getting your table. We waited about 45 minutes for a table. And no you can’t make reservations.
It was okay, but the flavors were not as expected. My son said he didn't like the slippery shrimp, but shrimp is his favorite food. I had hoped for something different, maybe garlicy, flavor popping, and bright, but it was pretty simple. It was closest to a basic orange chicken sauce. The fried aspect was a turn-off since it's not so healthy. It was not greasy at all. I can see the general appeal of getting a huge plate of shrimp to dig into for $23, but we were searching for must try items of Chinatown and not just filling value items. I paid only $40 for enough to feed 3. That's a great deal, but I don't think I'd ever stop here again. It was clean, there was great service, and the tables were pretty, but it was crowded and small. They also didn't have many dessert options, only lychee. I got the hot and sour soup, but again, I felt quantity was over quality. I normally enjoy deals and the large quantities, but right now, I'm traveling and only here for a visit. I was prioritizing novelty only food items. I wanted to try something spectacular I can't get at home. This was 1st listed as highly suggested to try. I assumed, based on info online, that this was the best place / item to eat in town. Anyway, I didn't hate it. I have leftovers. I will eat them but I'm sad we didn't enjoy as much as we hoped.
Mediocre chinese food, Overpriced and not worth the try. Hong Kong BBQ one block south was better in my humble opinion. Food was bland and lacked flavor.

This was my first time visiting this restaurant. On the positive side, the service was incredibly fast—we received our food in less than 15 minutes. However, the staff needs to be much more patient and attentive. I tried to ask for hot sauce, but the server walked away before I could even finish my sentence. While the Chicken Chow Mein was fine, I am extremely concerned about the Sweet and Sour Pork Chops. As shown in the photos I’ve attached, the meat was distinctly pink and undercooked in the middle. I didn't notice while eating at the table because I was hungry, but seeing this in my leftovers has me genuinely worried I might get sick. The kitchen really needs to be more careful with their cooking temperatures for safety. I won't be returning👎
