I had always yearned to visit this place, and my recent experience exceeded my expectations. Their wine selection is truly exceptional, offering a delightful range. Equally impressive is their menu, featuring delectable dishes. We savored calamari, onion soup, duck, and pasta goulash. While the goulash was decent, the other dishes were absolutely fantastic! The service also added to the overall pleasure of our visit.
Tasty fare, excellent service and old world atmosphere. Terrible parking.
New update. As I revisit some of my favorite restaurants, I’d like to see if it has kept its consistency, when it comes to all categories on my list. And I must say, yes, it has absolutely done so. We requested to be seated in Moisés’ station, because he spoiled us with his amazing personality and talent. Yet again, we were served not only amazing food, but our infectiously personable Moises, outdid himself. It clearly takes a great team of exceptional management and staff to run a successful business, and this restaurant has archived that. Keep up the good work.
Loved the outdoor patio. Our server was great and the drinks were delicious! Definitely a lot better than we'd anticipated. Try the gin and cucumber drink. Yummm! Halibut and seared tuna were great too.
We've been multiple times to the wine cellar for over 5 years, and I must say, they consistently deliver the same exceptional taste and quality. Their fried calamari remains unparalleled, a true culinary delight. What truly makes the experience memorable is Tim with his charming mustache – always welcoming and friendly. A gem that's worth every visit!" 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Great service from start to finish. The waiter was professionally in his sphere. He told us about dishes, was polite. I ordered Spaghetti Bolognese $29. It was cooked very well. Spaghetti was Allende and delicious. Mushrooms and other vegetables were tasty also. The sause was lightly creamy and didn't float at all (it's a huge problem in many restaurants). The whole portion is a big (be careful if you order many appetizers). Also, I ordered wine Zinfandel Layer Cake $14. It was smooth and delicious. The atmosphere is calm and peaceful. Highly recommend visiting this place. I'm definitely going to return there. Thanks!
Had lunch on a Friday afternoon. We ordered calamari as an appetizer, which was super crispy and came with a tasty horseradish sauce. All the entrees were cooked well, and our server gave good wine recommendations. I would visit again.
This place is definitely on my top 5 restaurants in the Bay Area, I absolutely love the consistent good food, ambient and nice service. The Ahi Tuna is my favorite! Strongly recommended!
Fantastic service, attentive wait staff. Dishes prepared exactly as you think they should be and how you ordered them. Can be a bit loud, but if you dont like to talk in a whisper like me, this is the place to bring friends for a great night for some fondue to share!
The food was excellent. I had the halibut special with asparagus and Yukon gold mashed potatoes. delicious. The other folks in the past had the baby back ribs. The ribs were delicious, the vegetables were good.
Food was amazing!! Moses was an incredible server!!! Get him he is so kind and sweet!! 12/10 stars!

The food is spectacular with high-end chop and seafood offerings that don't break the bank. Our service host Garfield was super professional and very friendly. Our evening was a big success!
Great food. Romantic inside dinning on upper tables. Never had a bad meal or service. Ask for Garfield as your server. He always makes great recommendations. Get reservations now for Valentines Day
I was here for my great niece's bridal shower. The restaurant is beautiful, inside and out, the food was delicious and the service was fantastic. Everyone attending had a wonderful time. I'm definitely coming back for dinner one night.
Absolutely outstanding! We had not been here for +/~ 20 years and it was excellent then. Don’t know how we lost track of this place, but not again! The menu is unique and is challenging to select from a sumptuous listing of dishes. We will be back regularly.

We were a group of 9. All enjoyed their meals and drinks. The servers were very accommodating. I recommend eating outside as it is kinda dark in the Cellar as expected.
All good. But the fish sandwich does not taste like fish! They had mixed it with vegetables.
We’ve been back to the Wine Cellar multiple times for lunch since my initial review, so I thought I’d post an update. In the past seven months or so, we’ve tried the French dip sandwich, the turkey-avocado sandwich, the ahi tower, and the crab cakes, in addition to the steak medallions and shrimp-avocado salad that we had back in January. All were cooked perfectly and tasted great. Service was equally efficient and friendly. I couldn't resist having a glass of Guinness with my French dip and I'm glad I did. Their unique technology results in a canned beer that's almost indistinguishable from what you'd get on tap. Any restaurant can have a good or bad day, but consistency is vital for success. I’m delighted to report that the Wine Cellar has been consistently good over an extended period of time. The Wine Cellar is a Los Gatos institution. This family owned and operated restaurant first opened in the 1960’s and has been in the same hands for 30+ years. Many of the staff have worked here for years and service has always been top notch. My wife and I have dined here often, mostly for lunch. The downstairs dining room is quiet and cozy with old world style decor and subdued lighting, but we prefer to sit on the large patio which we think is the best outdoor dining spot in town. Our last experience was at lunch on New Years eve day. I ordered the bistro steak medallions which I think are tastier and more tender than other beef items on the menu. The three pieces of meat were cooked perfectly (medium rare) but I’ll have to ask them to cut back on the sautéed mushrooms and onions next time so that the sauce doesn’t overwhelm the food. My wife enjoyed her double shrimp and avocado salad. She doesn’t really like tiny bay shrimp so our server just substituted a few more prawns without charging extra. The seared Ahi salad used to be her favorite, but the quality of the fish hasn’t been the same for a while. We make it a point to order their delectable mixed berry puff pastry for desert. The pastry is always fresh and flaky and the vanilla ice cream and whipped cream complement the berry compote nicely. If you’re in the mood for classic American fare with a California twist, I definitely recommend the Wine Cellar.
I was dining solo and was seated right away. Service was quick. My server, Trent was attentive without hovering. The food was tasty, but not creative. I had a pasta with eggplant and a creamy sauce, and shrimp poppers. The creme brulee wasn't a custard, it was pastry cream. That was really disappointing. I would eat there again.

At this restaurant, you'll find a mix of familiar American and Italian dishes. It's the kind of place that sticks to the basics—think fries, Caesar salad, a nicely cooked steak, and grilled fish. The food is reliably good, though it doesn't offer much in the way of surprises or culinary innovation. If you're after a meal that's comforting and straightforward, this spot will do the trick. Just don't expect to be wowed by any bold flavors or unique dishes. In short, it's a decent option for a simple, no-frills dining experience.

The large picture shown in their add . Seared Ahi Tuna .. two of us had it for lunch 11/14/25. Both of us had sever stomach cramps and diarrhea within 2 hours of eating. Our waiter kept telling us how fresh the seafood was as it just came in got the weekend, ???????????? I called to report his.. the response was oh.. I’ll mention it to the chef. All I wanted was to prevent others from the same reaction.

I was quite disappointed with the quality of the food. When I cut into my steak, it had a foul odor and an unpleasant taste. The onions seemed to be an attempt to mask the poor quality, but they failed to hide the greasy flavor of the meat. To avoid embarrassing the waiter, I simply said the steak was overcooked. He offered to bring me a new one, but I hesitated, worried it would be just as bad. Eventually, the waiter returned with the steak I had sent back, and the chef even cut it open to show that it was cooked to my requested doneness. Unfortunately, it was still a subpar steak. I was frustrated by this treatment and felt that I deserved an apology from both the waiter and the chef. Despite the restaurant's high-end price and location, the food and service were truly disappointing. This experience warrants a negative review.
LEAH served us and she was very unprofessional. I have been coming here for over 40 years and I’ve never been treated so badly. I ordered my usual salmon dish but this time the salmon was raw and not edible. So I asked her if she can please send it back. She had a really bad attitude and told me that this is normal and this is the way it’s always prepared and I said to her I’ve been coming here for over 40 years and I’ve never had the salmon raw. She took my dish and never returned another waitress had to help us. I don’t think this woman belongs in a service business. She surely doesn’t belong at this restaurant.
