We went at a very busy time. A few things were out, but understand. They were working fast to get them back on the buffet line. Food and service were good!

Pretty Much the only Asian restaurant that we go to when we are in Lubbock and have been going there for years and now with new owners or management everything is even better and we've had the same waitress for years. Waitress Alma our favorite.

I highly recommend Hyashi buffet! They also have Mongolian bbq & sushi. Everything is kept really clean, which is one of the reasons I keep coming back, well that and the food, of course!

Very clean and very tasty. Came in for lunch. Food was kept at correct temps and everything looked delicious. Lots of different selections for entrees and appetizers plus deserts. Had gone to the same place a couple of years ago and was not pleased with anything. This new management has improved this buffet magnificently. Would highly recommend.

Love this buffet they got a lot too choose from and the service is excellent the food is always good my kids love this place. I bring them here almost every month to the mall and the buffet they love it!!!

Pleasantly surprised with my experience. Lunch was under $15, every dish was as good or better than I expected. The Sushi was excellent. The place was clean, well decorated and inviting. Huge selection that includes all my buffet favorites and extras like pizza, enchiladas and more. This is my new "Go to" lunch buffet.

We had a group of 11 after the Texas Tech graduation eat here. The food was really fresh and tasted great. The server was on top of his game and we didn't have to ask for anything.

The new management that they have as well as the owners have made the food extremely delicious.I enjoyed my meal and service was excellent and it is not very loud in there.

The atmosphere and building is awesome, I did expect a larger selection from the size of the building, however they’ve still got all the classics and favorites, would come again!

It was pretty good. I got there at 11:30 a.m. and so the food was all fresh and hot. They have a ton of choices. It's a very big buffet.

Above average Chinese buffet. Food is a higher quality and much better prepared than most places. They also have Lubbock's favorite dish, the Mongolian BBQ which you select the raw ingredients, and they cook it up for you fresh. The hot buffet has many Chinese favorite entrees. They have several non Chinese entrees like Fried Fish, enchiladas plus other items. They have a salad bar as well. Worth the visit. Service can be hit and miss, but usually good.

The buffet is a decent buffet. From a wide variety of items such as hibachi, basic sushi, and even american food you'll find something for everybody. Sometimes it's a bit greasy and other times it's made just right. Oh and they're coca cola is mixed perfectly best coke besides McDs

I do keto and am able to eat here but have to be selective. Last time they changed the real green salad to something else...all they had was iceberg lettuce... Not one that's healthy for me.

I like the food but both locations dont add the tobiko on a dish that has it included. Im going to have to give this place a break again. Petty but disappointing, yes the tobike is difficult to spread by hand but it just takes a spread knife similiar to a butterknife. Its another to just not get it, constantly.

I didn’t see anything with cashews but…….. * Sushi wasn’t marked and didn’t really look appealing * Unsweetened Tea seemed stale from yesterday. OVERALL; Best buffet in Lubbock my opinion. Was a pleasant experience. Was not busy but had customers. Server friendly enough but they took a very long time to check on us. I get when busy but we were the only ones in her section for most of the experience. She was friendly and quick when around. But we should not have to go hunt her down. Learning opportunities.. sure did miss the kimchi on the menu.

We like it so we return, but there have been some issues. The lady at the reguster keeps charging us more than others, which is not right. The bald server never comes back to refill your drink. My husband has had to ask others for drinks at the fountain. Some kitchen staff talk smack at the buffet. Unprofessional. The food is a hit or miss. Sometimes it is oily and questionable, while other times it's flavorful and amazing. I just wish it was consistent.

My first visit here was ok. The service and atmosphere were good, but the food to me was average or sub par. Sadly, I won’t be back.

I want to give this place 5 stars, but for $22 a person (after tax) the food just fell short. The service was great, definitely 5 stars for that. But if the prices can come down 5 bucks or so to match the quality, this would be a great place.

I have only been to Hayashi about 15 times simply because most of the times the food has not been very good. This time I found the food to very good. Maybe that was because I got there when the doors had just opened and the other times the food was prepared earlier

I'm thinking I got duped again. somebody help me if I'm wrong. i went on Wednesdays evening at 5pm, myself 4 teens and a child (5-11) orders 2 sodas and the rest got waters. so $12.99 x 5 is $65 plus $9 for the child... the bill was $103 and change...that's a lot of tax or those are 2 expensive drinks. was tired and didn't think...gave a tip in the beginning when paying.....stupid me???? my wife reminded me that i made the same complaint when I went to it when it was "Dragon Buffet" fool me twice shame on me the people are nice. but if the are purposely adding additional people to us fools who aren't paying attention...then maybe its an act? and not so nice it was not too bad if it was $13 per person. you get full. many thinks taste strange. the chicken in the General Taos - yes they have it labeled this way(would have been hilarious if there was a C in the middle of Taos...general tacos anyone???... looks pink not like chicken. Even though it is fully cooked??? things taste similar though. some things were actually really good. but, I don't think ill be going back again.

We knew going in that we were risking a hot, fresh meal because this was a buffet, and it was 1 pm when we walked in. We were greeted and charged at walk-in, seated, and then served by a very nice and attentive gentleman. The selection at the buffet was 10 out of 10. They offered a little of everything! I noticed they had hibachi in the rear of the restaurant. I talked to a very nice young man who talked me through the process and how to make my selections. He treated me very kindly, like we were having a chat among friends. While I waited for my food, I checked out the sushi. They had so many options, but I went with the California roll. I also made some selections at the buffet. I sat down and had my hibachi, and it was so good! Hot and fresh! The sushi was disappointing. You could tell it had been sitting for a while. The food selections from the buffet were the same, lukewarm, and definitely could tell they had been sitting for a while. The sugar puff and rolls were so good! The ribs and fried rice were tasty as well. But I feel like if you want to enjoy it and get hot and fresh food, you need to show up right when they open. Price was about $20 per person, it's a little cheaper during the week. All in all, it was a good experience. My son chose this place for his bday and was happy with his choice. I think we will go back, but probably soon as they open. Shout out to the very nice young man (and his wife who worked there also) from Guatemala working the hibachi. I appreciate your kindness!

The Service specific rating would've been lower if not for the very (clearing plates and filling drinks, as well as filling requests) attentive waitress. I noticed her wiping down tables and chairs in the proper (let's be honest, no one wants to eat at a table that's been wiped down with a cloth that was JUST used to wipe the chairs that had people's rears planted on them) order! That young lady was on the ball, unlike whoever was responsible for restocking the buffet. The most I saw someone do was stir up the various trays and top off just a couple of trays, but never restocked particular empty trays, which happened to be the foods that I typically look for. What food there was, did taste good and was a good temperature. We never used the restrooms but the tables, floors and buffet area as well as the decor were in excellent condition.

Needs a face-lift or an update. It looks like it did when I moved to lubbock 15 years ago. The food is good, sometimes. It's a hit or miss place. It really depends on what time of day you come here. It's good enough that I keep coming back.

The atmosphere is pretty neat. The service was excellent. Our waitress was on point with with keeping our drink glasses full and taking away plates of unwanted food. The food wasn't very good. It was either really salty and or really bland. Needless to say we probably won't be returning for a second visit. Really, you would be better off going to your local supermarket and buying frozen chinese food and heating up in the microwave at home.

Was not a fan. I love Chinese food and buffets. Every dish I tried just didn’t have that authentic taste to it. The Siracha taste like Louisiana hot sauce. The beef and broccoli had some pieces of meat that were either not cooked or rotten. They did however have a stir fry section in the back that was decent. Other than that, everything tasted the same. $16.99 for weekend lunch. Wasn’t worth it.

So the atmosphere is fine and the staff is nice no incidents. The food however was just not that okay? The fruit was just a little too past ripe like, soft grapes and squishy oranges, they looked okay but were bad lol idk honestly so many things were just one bite eats that I would've gotten more of usually. I didn't try noodles bc I got full on first bites very fast lol

So I sat in line and watched a man argue about being overcharged on his ticket for 20 minutes. while standing there I decided to read the menu board and found out that I could’ve been getting a military discount this whole time. I asked the about my discount, she said it doesn’t apply to carry out. I’m looking at the menu board like where does it say that. In fact, the military discount sign is right up under the carryout prices Which they decided to go up on by about $.50 per pound… yeah. I love the food! But as far as the customer service, it is lacking. The little hosts at the front looks sick every time I’m in there has never smiled once. Since they went up on the prices, you think they do better with the attitude. China Star here I come.

So HAD to pay the dinner since it's Valentine's day... Which was crappy but whatever. That aside the food was terrible the fried rice and ribs were sour made my husband sick. None of the jellos were good just terrible. We weren't even there for 30 minutes before he had to leave so fast because he was sick. The only thing that was good was the dumplings and hot tea. Go with caution....

I think most of these 5 star reviews have to be paid for. Dragon got a new sign and the food is terrible. Worst buffet food I have experienced, China star is fine dining in comparison. Very bland and not fresh we left without finishing a plate. Tried a bite of everything between the table. The fried zucchini was decent but everything else was unedible. If you are craving Chinese buffet go anywhere else.

Food quality is the worst. I had high hopes for the revamp but just same subpar quality of Chinese food and definitely not worth it being the most expensive Chinese buffet around…. I walked out three bites in. Everything tasted like it was spoiled or sitting out on a cold counter.

$34 for 2 people on a Sunday evening and the food was awful. It looked ok but some was under cooked, some was stale, and there was nothing I found on the buffet that was actually good. I had some Lucky Charms at home and really wish I’d have just done that. Waste of money for sure. Yuck

I’m so sorry but to be honest the way my waitress treated me today was so awful. It is my first time in town and I want to try out this place. The foods were okay. 6/10 but during my visits. I was eating fine but I got up and went to use the restroom for like not even 5 mins. Because it was dirty and I have to wait for the clean one so I can use it. Then I went out and my table has got clean out already??? I was like what is going on? Where is my tea and my dipping sauce I just made.l”??? Omg that is never happens to me at all. She wasn’t happy when I asked her. All she said but in a mean way “ I thought you had left because you were gone for a long time” 5 mins is a long time? I’m so sorry but I don’t think I will ever go back to dinning again.

Walked in had to pay before hand (could’ve figured it was gonna be bad since we had to pay first) we were in and out within 5 minutes. Food looked dry but I wanted to give it a chance. EVERYTHING including the veggies tasted like old meat. Or as my husband said a dirty rag. Sat down and got right up after a few bites. Left and immediately started to feel sick. Don’t recommend. I know there was mixed reviews so my daughter and I went to go check it out and we were so disappointed. The food was full of grease and everything tasted very old the only thing that was good was the salad and the Dr. pepper. Never had any wait staff come to see if we were okay or even give us refills. Will never go back to eat trash....

Like other reviews, food is not very fresh or tasty and the Mongolian grill was so salty I couldn’t eat it. Sushi was just awful and not cold. Consider eating the bark dust in the flower beds outside instead.

Trust this....they don't wash their silverware properly.! They had me literally wiping food particles and debris, still swimming in swampy water ( rice, noodles, straw wrappers) off the forks and placing them in the tray to give to customers...disgusting. I should call the health department.

Me and my boyfriend went and the food was awful everything tasted gross. I have never felt so sick in my entire life. Went to use the bathrooms and one of the workers washed her hands without soap and went right back to working. We left immediately after. Never going back there again. 0/10 do not recommend

It was awful. A lot of the food tasted like old fish grease. The egg rolls were raw and gooey. The beef and broccoli tasted rancid. I took a bite of the sausage and I had to spit it in a napkin. Needless to say I got sick before we ever left the restaurant. I won’t ever go back.

This place has dropped way downhill from when we were there last. And by that I mean the food only. Food was old i.e. spareribs were hard as rock, fried chicken tasted off, salad greens were withered and wilted and tired looking, even the usually pretty good skewered chicken was dry, tough and chewy. The sushi has become so small (1"long X 1/4" wide) and thin (anorexic), why bother? Won ton soup was too salty and lacked flavor. Wasabi wasn't even spicy, it was dry and un-appetizing like it was green sand. Most entree items were hidden under overly sweetened sauce of some kind. No sense in offering 10 entrees if they all taste alike. Note: I walked through the door at around opening time 11 am so everything should have been freshly prepared and well stocked but it wasn't. Bright side. I enjoyed the cold ice water. For $15 no drink plus tip, you would be better fed at Golden Corral for about same price or dig a little deeper into pocket and try Momotaro on Indiana for AYCE hot pot or sushi/sashimi. Whatever you do stay away from Hiyashi until they get their act together. Remember we work hard for our money so don't settle for mediocrity and poor quality foods. Make em' raise the bar so we all can enjoy.

We are disappointed with the food and service of the main staff not our waiter or hostess, she was very unprofessional about our expectations. We will not be wasting our money here anymore and strongly urge you to be cautious of the same situation.

If I could give a zero star I would. Price is different than it says online. The ice cream is the only good thing in the Buffett. Even the grapes have seeds! The food tastes like it has been recycled. And we all got good poisoning the same night and lasted a few days!

This restaurant was very big disappointment, since we arrived to Texas ,I so wanted to eat at this place, finally after six months here in Texas went to have brunch here, what a big let down. I heard it was under new management. WOW, just terrible, the food was not at all what I expected. The drinks tasted like, I can't even find the words to describe. I will never set foot at this place again. Terrible, I love suchi the sushi did not taste freshly made like they said. I will stop here because this place is terrible. One more thing to say, they didn't even have the proper utensils, we had to ask for them. I gave it 1 star, but a zero rating is better. I'm sorry but if I am going to spend money to eat out, it better be worth it. Needs better management and a better chef.

This place has dropped way downhill from when we were there last. And by that I mean the food only. The egg rolls tasted like spoiled hamburger meat smells and the fried shrimp was fried with the shells on. The food was not just bad....it was horrible. I hope they improve because we used to really enjoy this place.
