So glad to finally have a good restaurant in this location. To begin with, the salsa with the chips is great and we each had our own bowl to dip in. I loved my carne asada and the others loved their meals too. Friendly service. I see they have a bar and we may come back after work someday.

My fiance and I went here for the first time for an unexpected date night, I will rate this a 10 out of 10!! The food was soo good and delicious. Fast service great waitress (polina) I believe her name was. We got the mecate plate and when they say ypu better be hungry they aren't lying!! We spent 52$ on 2 of the mecate plates and a bag of tortilla chips to go well worth the price. We will definitely be coming back no questions asked!! Also I believe the owner came out and asked how the food was, it's nice being able to see the owner of an establishment take pride in their restaurant

This was recommended to us by a local when we were traveling. It hit the spot for a great lunch prior to leaving town. The tacos and fajitas were very good. The spicy shrimp was pretty spicy. We were put into a back corner where there wasn't much atmosphere to speak of, but it was clean and quiet.

Absolutely delicious! Decided to try a new place for my birthday dinner with the family. Our server was awesome, thank you, Josh!!! My 2 year old even enjoyed himself for 95% of the time, he was ready to go at the end of our meal, typical. Highly recommend!!! Will definitely be returning.

Came in around 6:30 and got sat right away since we were only a two top (we got lucky). We’ve had the same server twice and she’s such a sweetheart! Food has been great, atmosphere is great, very happy to have them nearby and definitely hope they’re around for a long time!

Probably the best place to get lunch in Macedon. Been buying lunch here consistently for months. Recommend the tamals and enchiladas, also the chicken tacos A-la carte. The chocolate mole sauce is really good to try! Fajitas are greasy (The chicken is a bit less greasy than the steak) but solid. Chips and salsa are free every time and the salsa is pretty good.

We have been here several times and food and service are always excellent. Always look to try something different on the menu as an entrée and the Chile Colorado this last visit was delicious! We did not get the mini chimichangas last visit but highly recommend them.

Great authentic food for Rochester, NY area. I've tried a few places and have not found one since we have been back in 2020. Having been spoiled by California and the array of authentic Mexican places, this hit the spot. I had the mole and it took me back to the West Coast. We plan on visiting this place more often.

First time going and it was splendid! Our waiter was very kind and he treated us very well. We were seated in the front corner by the door. Only one slight issue we had was two guys started a fight as they were leaving the bar.

The Ford was tasty and served hot. The restrooms were spotless. The service was pleasant, quick and not in your face. Even my grandson was impressed.

Food, atmosphere and staff (Josh) were all amazing. Came with my wife and 2 year old son and we all had a great experience. They put in my son's food order first which was great as he was hungry. Red sangria were excellent. I would highly recommend. Everything was top notch despite being busy and food portions and quality are again excellent for the price!

You won't be disappointed! The menu has a large selection as well as different sizes of portions. I was able to amend my order to omit items I don't care for. The food was perfectly prepared ... from the first bite, I enjoyed every single morsel of food! The waitress was polite and attentive without being too much or too little. This time of year, I'm often freezing in restaurants ... our table was furthest from the front door, and I was quite comfortable. So many restaurants haven't come and gone from this building ... I truly hope this one stays for a very long time!

My girlfriend and I visited here last night for a late dinner after she drove in from Indiana. The service was quick and the food delicious. We both liked the salsa serving bottle they use so each person may have their own salsa dish prior to the meal's arrival, allowing them to double-dip tortilla chips without risking contamination or social ostracism. Our waitress - sorry, I cannot recall her name - was nice and affable even at the end of a late Monday shift. Great humor and very welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and I nearly laughed aloud when our server asked if we'd like dessert; I don't think either of us could have fit another bite. My girlfriend took some of her food to go and it reheated nicely for lunch today as she worked on writing her dissertation. Highly recommend and plan to visit again!

I’ve tried quite a few Mexican restaurants in upstate New York, and Mecate is by far one of the best. Great people, delicious food, and excellent service and atmosphere. We (a group of 8 people) were driving around at 930 pm looking for somewhere to eat. After looking all over, we saw this place was open, and decided to try our luck. The margaritas are on point! The food servings are large and authentic Mexican style, we absolutely loved it! Highly recommend if you love Mexican. Food was great and LOVE that they put the refried beans in a hard shell bowl. Service and atmosphere were nice, but only 2 stars on the margaritas which is mainly where I had to deduct a star.

Overall, I like the quality of the restaurant. I thought everything was cooked very well and service was just fine. My only issue is, I got the enchiladas and their red sauce tastes more like a mole with flavors like cinnamon and raisins. Maybe that's more authentic? I don't know. But I prefer the chili and garlic and onion-forward chili sauce I've had in many other places.

Came during the Sat dinner rush wait wasn't too long but we decided to sit at the bar. Bartender was fantastic and busting her butt so props to her! Food came out in a timely manner. I had the shredded beef enchiladas and they were so yummy! I also had a large frozen peach margaritas which was super yummy although I couldn't really taste any alcohol. Would def visit again!

This was our first visit to this restaurant and I couldn't be happier with the food as well as the quality and speed of the service. We ordered online for takeout and had some strange requests. The restaurant not only got every part of our order correct but they also fulfilled all of our requests. We will definitely be returning!

A friend blessed us with a gift card and said they go there alot. The staff was friendly in greeting us, got quick service. There was just small mess up on my order I asked for no sour cream and I got it all over my taco toppings. The mini chimes are where it's at tho. Definitely will be going back and trying more of there dishes.

This is you generic Mexican American food. Do you want a burrito, tamales, tacos with refried beans and Spanish rice on the side? Then this place will tick those boxes. This isn't a modern or adventurous take on Mexican American food. Just good old fashioned favorites with combo options. Also the large bag of chips is huge.

First time here and everything was pretty good. Chips had a weird borderline old taste to them but salsa was excellent. I had the steak, chicken, & shrimp fajitas and it was good. Big portion but a bit too much of peppers & onions vs the shrimp & meat. My buddy had the 3 taco combo meal and he said it was good. Had the guacamole appetizer (it matched the picture on the menu) and it was delicious. Place was clean and service was spot on.

My second dining experience, the first on Jefferson. Rochester NY friendly place, l loved the servers, smile and humbleness. I liked the food. I dined with a group of thirty, although, the dish ordered was good, but it didn't relate to what was described on the menu details. It appeared, a quick stir pork ground meat served on taco. Overall, good. Our waitress, served us well.

First time here and I'd definitely come back! The restaurant itself is a little small as they converted an old fast-food restaurant. The atmosphere was very inviting and comfortable. Kid friendly! The only thing I didn't like was the booster seat they had for my 2-year-old to sit in. They didn't have a highchair, just a booster seat that goes on a regular chair but there were no straps to secure it to the chair. The food was good! The salsa was a bit weak, tasted more like tomato sauce than salsa. I ordered the Burrito Frontera and my goodness it was huge! It does say on the menu that their burritos are "fork and knife" burritos and that statement couldn't be truer. The burrito itself was very good, stuffed to the max so you definitely get your money's worth. My son had the kids cheeseburger fries; the portion size was huge! His meal looked more like an adult meal it was so large. Between my meal and his, we had 2 to-go containers worth of food. Overall I enjoyed my experience here and would recommend it to someone looking for a place to eat in this area.

My first visit to Mecate on June 4th for lunch was fabulous. I had the best traditionle burrito. It was made perfectly and I couldn’t wait to have the opportunity to visit again. Visited again for lunch on June 21st. I ordered the same burrito but it was made completely differently. Ingredients that were not listed on the menu such as French fries, guacamole, etc were in the burrito. I thought they gave me someone else’s order but it was not. I did not call the restaurant as I had appointments I had to get to. I’ll try it again hoping it was a one off experience with the error in my second visit.

Great service but the food has become a bit worse since coming here. The steak fajita meat was dry and curly like it was very thin strips that were fried not grilled. Their queso bowl is huge and so good. We ordered the chicken fajita quesadilla and the steak fajitas.

Service as great, unfortunately, the food was a huge disappointment. The rice tasted like nothing, beans were very runny and the little chip they came in was stale. My chimichanga was very small for the price you pay, and I only got 1 of them, queso was very runny. For cheaper prices per dish, bigger portions PLUS better tasting food, you can go to Canandaigua or even Farmington for better Mexican. We will never go back here.

The place is great looking and tye service is amazing. Unfortunately the food had no taste, I mean like taco bell has lore flavor. And the margaritas had a soapy flavor with no lime taste at all. Could be amazing if they use dramatically redo the food.

We ordered 4 entries and 2 a la carte items and when I showed up there was one small bag of chips and a very small cup of salsa. I asked for more chips and salsa because the order was for 6 people and was told "sorry it's one per order but you can buy some for $5-6." I asked if I placed 6 separate orders if that would have gotten 6 orders of chips and salsa and was told yes. I could not believe this!! We got home and found we were missing flour tortillas for 3 entrees. I contacted management about experience and waited a week until posting this. Very disappointing! We loved Mecate but the service is declining.

I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The salsa was bland and lacked any real flavor or freshness. I ordered a chicken dish, and the meat was incredibly dry—almost inedible. On top of that, the service was lacking. We had to wait quite a while, and only saw our server once during the entire meal. Sadly, I won’t be coming back.

By far the worse service we have ever had there Didn't bring out chips or salsa till after we were sitting down for 20 minutes. Finally asked us if we wanted a drink and we had to ask for refills. I had a question about the menu and he said he didn't know. We asked for extra queso and got sauce. We said thank you when he brought our food and he never said anything. This is like our 10 time here and we usually love it. I asked if the owner was here and he just said yes and walked away. Looks like we will be taking a break from this place Hope our wait just had an off day

The only enjoyable part of my meal was the plantain appetizer. Unfortunately, the overall experience was very disappointing. Service was slow even though the restaurant was not busy for a Saturday lunch. Several tables remained uncleared throughout the meal, and our seats had sticky drippings on them. Our order was not handled correctly, and there was little attention to basic service. I requested lime with the chips and salsa, but the salsa itself was consistently bland, more like watered-down tomato juice with no seasoning. This was our fourth visit, and although we had hoped things would improve, this will be our last. What was especially frustrating was the server pressing the “20%” tip option before handing over the payment machine. This would be questionable under any circumstances, but even more so when there were no drink refills, no table clearing, and no follow-up during the meal. The food was not remarkable, and the value was poor. The final issue was unacceptable: a piece of chicken was served in a vegetarian enchilada that was listed on the vegetarian menu. Serving meat in a vegetarian dish is a serious mistake at worst, and a sloppy oversight at best.

Was seated in a small room off the dining room, kinda odd. Service was average but the food was very white washed. Anyone who knows birria tacos knows damn well this isn’t how they are made… the corn tortilla is supposed to be dunked in the birria grease and juice then cooked on a flat top with cheese. These were just plain raw corn tortillas. Wouldn’t recommend. Especially for $17.

It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t good no flavors my Quesadilla was soggy and the container was full of water. Gross 🤢 ! My mother in law got the fatita diner no tortillas to put in in. All the toppings were smashed into one container so everything was all messed Up !!! Sour cream was stuck to the lid thank god I had some in fridge My . tamale was bland. The street taco were not steak ground beef very nast too expensive for what u get My dogs wouldn’t the refried beans tasted like baby food. Very disappointing. My order was over $100 in only the tortilla chips they provided with the sauce that was edible I will never be eating here again ( photos below show exactly a soggy casa and street tacos ). We ended up throwing almost all out very very upset.

Called 530pm for my order, was told 45min, I get there 615pm, was told another 25 minutes. I come back 650, and was told another 15 minutes. Never again will I call for picking up food. Loyal customer and will not be returning anytime soon.

Beef taco salad was more like a runny bean soup with a little , I mean little , tasteless ground beef and a few shreds of lettuce . The salsa tasted more like tomato sauce . Not sure where this place gets its rating from . Much, much better Mexican restaurants in Rochester area .

This place is gross. I can't figure out who thinks it tastes good or why or how it has 4.8 stars. You can't trust Google reviews. The chips were thick and had no salt, plus you were limited to 1 basket or pay extra. We got a quesadilla for the kids and the beans had a weird spice in them. The mini chimichangas appetizer was super basic with a cheese sauce that was dried over the top. The burritos had some awkward Italian spices in it. It was just bad.

I was incredibly disappointed as they’ve received great reviews. The food was so bland, meat tasted like it had soap in it, the sauce for the one meal tasted like meat sauce for a garbage plate - too much cinnamon. Refried beans were so salty I couldn’t eat them. The service was fantastic, I just wish the food was better. Unfortunately we will not be returning.

Lived in the Southwest for a decade and eaten plenty of authentic Mexican food. This wasn't it. The whitest Mexican food I've ever had. I've had spicier mayonnaise. I ordered a side of jalapenos to add to my meal but the service was so slow they never showed up till the end of the meal and the bartender brought them over Our waiter forgot one of the drinks which showed up 15 minutes later. About 30 minutes later the meal finally showed up and they weren't that busy. 4 people at the bar and 2 other tables sat. After the waiter finally brought the meals we never saw him again. Everyone was out of drinks, had to use my shirt sleeve to wipe my mouth because we couldn't even get more napkins. The meal was boring and their salsa is awful. It tastes like salsa from a jug. We ordered some Pico to put in it to liven it up... still very bland. This is a very safe place for spices because there's no danger of them being used. My wife and I have a 3 strikes rule and this was our second try. The first time was bad but this 2nd time it was just so all around awful we can't give it the 3rd try. Anybody who has ever eaten authentic Mexican food could never rate this cuisine anything remotely close to it.

The service is great.......food was if taco bell wanted to make a sit down but forgot they are mexican. Birria should not be called pizza or fries. It was also bland with no taste we had been told it was the best on the menu. The salsa was water down. The rice was burnt and bland. My enchilada had cinemon sauce feeling much more like meat sauce for a garbage plate than enchilada suace. The meat was burnt.....so that happened. But it was cheap! So if you want meh food for cheap come on down!

We have been coming here since they opened and it was amazing. Once the one partner left to go to the Webster location, Macedon slowly began a steady decline in customer service and attention to detail. Three consecutive times we order certain items and it takes 2-3 attempts to get said certain items, or not get them at all. The newest disappointment is the fact that the server brings us a basket of chips and a plastic sauce cup with a lid of salsa for 3 people. That's where the attention to detail comes in, 3 people, one little small sauce cup of salsa....come on. Not interested in going anymore, I can understand one bad night, but three consecutive visits which have resulted in me walking out disappointed 😞
