This place is an experience and not just a restaurant. Reservations: Try and get reservations in advance, you can request for outdoor seating but it is not guaranteed. We were able to get ourselves a table via concierge. Food: high recommend the yellowtail ceviche, crispy okra, spice edamame, wagyu tacos, black cod with miso, eggplant with miso. They have an amazing selection of cocktails, wine and sakes. I asked the server to sake with my meals and they were amazing.

Speechless!! From the delicious menu with options for every palate to the well-curated cocktails, it exceeded my massive expectations. But the service—oh, the service! Despite our reservation hiccup, they welcomed us as walk-ins and crafted a surprise 8-course menu based on our preferences. Each dish was a delightful revelation, and the waiter sought feedback after every course. We felt like VIP guests. Variety cocktails are available with a big food menu. The price of the food is a little on the higher side since you are paying for the atmosphere and good view next to the ocean.

I had dinner at Nobu Malibu and it was an unforgettable experience. The open-air setting overlooking the ocean is absolutely stunning. The service was impeccable, and every dish was exceptional. We started with spicy miso chips and crispy rice with spicy tuna—both full of flavor. For sushi, we had spicy tuna, crab, and shrimp maki, along with a warm and comforting miso soup. For mains, the black cod miso was perfectly cooked and flavorful, the ribeye wagyu was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the spicy lobster with garlic was rich and satisfying. A truly beautiful dining experience—everything was amazing from start to finish. Highly recommended.

The lemon albacore is so good! Also, the mushrooms underneath the seared Toro are incredible. I don't like mushrooms. They usually make my stomach hurt, but I get it specifically for the mushrooms underneath.

The food is worth the hype. It’s expensive but the presentation and taste are great. I was able to nab a seat at the bar overlooking the Pacific which made for a lovely experience. The yellowfin sashimi jalapeño is truly excellent, good amount of heat and exceptional flavour. The lobster tacos were fresh and sweet and the baked hand cut crab roll rounded out the meal nicely. The non-alcohol cucumber, mint lemonade was perfect with the meal. Super hard to get a reservations but they do accept walk-ins at the bar and they also allow people to wait at the bar for a table to become available. The hostesses are pretty snotty and not overly accommodating but the servers and bar staff were great.

I came in as walk-in (2 people) with no reservation. The host was very kind and said we had two choices to sit in either sushi table or bar area. We choose bar area because it had ocean view. We ordered the Lychee martini (must) so yummy! I recommend the Oysters with all the Nobu seasonings. We also had sushio peppers which were very tasty, i'd come back just for these. Then ordered sushi, top choices were the baked crab and sushi roll of the day. For dessert the bento box that had molten lava cake which was not too sweet very nice and green tea ice cream so creamy and very matcha which complimented the chocolate. Overall, I had a great night and will be coming back soon.

This place was really beautiful! We took so many pictures by the beach. And the waiting area with the couches is so nice. The service was also really friendly. We didn’t have a reservation and we still were able to get a walk-in at a reasonable time. They have valet parking. The drinks were great and so was the food! Highly recommend

Location is beachside and gorgeous! Walked in with no reservation and was immediately seated. Servers were very friendly and helpful. The food presentation is impeccable. The portions are small bite size. You'll leave feeling satisfied. We had oysters (so fresh and flavourful) Jalapeno Yellowtail Sashimi (delish) the must try-fan faves Rock Shrimp Tempura and Black Cod Miso. For dessert, ordered the Bento Box which was just okay. Definitely a great experience and relaxing atmosphere.

Wow we were so surprised at some of the portion sizes. Luckily the servers course out your meal by waiting to order some of your food, so I was able to cancel one of my dishes. We left stuffed and happy. The drinks were great and the servers were really fun to interact with. We did make a reservation, but we're able to be seated 45 minutes early when we walked in early.

Absolutely loved our experience here! The miso cod, jalapeno yellowtail maki, and bluefin toro were highlights. Cocktails were also delicious. The vibe was welcoming and staff were attentive, particularly responding immediately when I had an issue.

Fantastic view for our balcony seated lunch, we were able to snag a reservation right at 12. From the moment we pulled up, the valet was great and we were promptly seated with a choice on which table we wanted. The service was incredible with the staff making sure you are taken care of. Wow wow wow! This was the greatest dining experience of my life, hands down. I obviously had massive expectations but my time there still far exceeded those! Where to begin? F&B: absolutely delicious! Fresh and we'll thought out menu. Lots of options for a variety of pallettes. The cocktails were well curated and unique. Service: possibly the biggest highlight. We had trouble making a reservation but they accepted my wife and I as walk ins and sat us right away (Monday 4pm). We had trouble deciding what to get so the waiter asked us how much we wanted to spend and our dietary preferences and curated a surprise menu for us. We had 8 courses, each being a surprise and he asked for feedback after each one to ensure we enjoyed the rest of it. Best service I've ever received, really made us feel like VIP guests. Thank you so much! Atmosphere: goes without saying - immaculate! Right on the water, beautiful sunset and lovely use of the space making it feel quaint and private as opposed to other Nobu locations like NYC where it's jam packed and loud. They even allowed dogs here which made for some fun conversation with other patrons.

Everything here is amazing, especially if you like raw sushi and dishes. Their cooked fishes are also all incredible. Make sure you get something from the bar, the drinks are incredible and unique. If the weather is good, make sure you get a patio seat.

As usual Nobu never seises to impress, the environment, view and seating are one of the best i’ve seen in Malibu !!! First of all i would highly recommend booking in advance (1 month ahead) so you dont risk waiting because it’s usually. The best seating would be their outdoor area with the view of the pacific. The service is spectacular, the waiters are very supportive & knowledgeable by giving great recommendations with quick service. In terms of food it’s a traditional Japanese resturant and they do it perfectly !! Every dish we had was perfect and my personal favourite and what i consider a must try is the black cod. There sushi is nice we tried a few choices and they all were very delicious. If you’re into something spicy try the crispy okra.

10/10. 11/10 for Cardell and service team. We spent the day at Getty Villa Museum and gardens and wanted to eat locally with our out of town guests. Been meaning to try Nobu, so off we went. I find it super convenient to have valet parking, makes us feel secure in the spot. Now, I don’t recommend you wing it on rush days but we rolled the dice and went without a reservation. Party of 5, we were sat in less than 10 mins. For a moment it took a bit for our server to arrive, but it from the moment we met him we trusted he had our tastebuds and experience in mind. He mentioned he’d been at the restaurant 8 years, and took into account if anyone had allergies or special food needs. Since we’re gravy we let him fly free. And OMG. What ensued was 9 courses of HEAVEN followed by an array of 4 desserts. Hot tea, and water were our beverages of choice to not compete for space and let me tell you. Course after course we were excited and delighted. Will be back with my husband, family, and anyone wanting a beautiful culinary experience by the sea. It’s really a team at Nobu Malibu as everyone helps serve and provide care throughout the meal, but if you can be sat in Cardells section, request him, and trust him, you won’t regret it.

Nobu is definitely a must try if you’re in Malibu. If you’re hoping to dine with ocean views, you’ll most likely need a reservation but the views are worth it. Since I was only in town for a short time, I got lucky and was seated at the bar near the sushi chefs without a reservation. I ordered a variety of sushi nigiri, all of which were amazing. The fish had a clean, fresh taste, and the sushi rice was spot on. The miso cod is a must and it didn’t disappoint, with rich flavor and a perfectly tender texture. I also tried the crispy rice with spicy tuna, yellowtail jalapeño sashimi, and seared toro with truffles. Our server was fantastic—he explained the menu thoroughly and gave great recommendations. Parking is limited, but they do offer valet (not complimentary). Overall, a great experience from food to service.

Amazing experience! Beautiful restaurant with incredible food and staff. Our waiters were extremely helpful, witty and talented and made our visit even better. It’s one of our go-to place to bring family and friends when they visit because it never fails to impress. The food and service is consistently incredible. Every dish is beautifully prepared and full of flavor. For drinks, their Carajillo has become my newest obsession. My expectations were very high before coming here. I was still very impressed with this restaurant. Such beautiful views and great ambiance. Service was fantastic, staff was very friendly. Food was also great. They use real actual wasabi and not the fake horseradish that you usually see everywhere. This place isn't cheap but well worth it in my opinion

I’m partial to the cooked foods here personally, it’s hard for me to get past paying an arm and a leg for the sashimi drenched in sauce, but I think the fried shrimp and other unique cooked items are delicious. I love the rock shrimp, I could eat 2 servings of it. The view is amazing and the service is nice enough. I sat by Sophia Ritchie and her family eating here when I came from out of town - what a fun surprise. This place is a scene but the natural beauty and restaurant is spectacular so I enjoy it. I had dessert when I came a couple times ago, but nothing stood out to me as special so I usually skip dessert here.

We had the Chefs table for a group of 13 and we had an amazing experience. Service was on point and delicious. Highly recommend. Reservations are A MUST!!! the view in the terrace is serene, relaxing and romantic.

Everything was incredible here! Reservations open one month in advance and actually got lucky and got a sunset reservation which was perfect!! Space is beautiful and well worth spending your time here! As for food, I only tried their vegetarian menu and they do have plenty of options actually but nothing to rave about. Nobu is an absolute standout restaurant. The service is amazing and attentive, if you have allergies, their team goes above and beyond. Not only are the servers incredibly knowledgeable on the ingredients in each dish, they can help find you dishes that align with any food restrictions or allergies. Many dishes can also be modified. The yellowtail appetizers is my favorite. All the yellowtail sushi is also great. The prime filet toban yaki was perfectly cooked. The crispy brussel sprouts were a hit as well. I was able to eat here easily dairy and gluten free. They’ve also got the most amazing patio. Definitely recommend!

The view, restaurant and staff was amazing. The food was absolutely delicious. Tiara at the front was nice enough to move us closer to the balcony so we could watch the sunset!

It is a beautiful place with a very beautiful view and a lot of seating outdoors and indoors. The staff are very friendly and they have been very nice in changing our reservation time for an hour later. I really liked the food and specially the side dish that was okra ( look for more specific name on the menue😃 as I already put the hint 😄). I liked the food too and enjoyed the vibe a lot. For the parking you have to pay 15$ so you can carpool for saving money and the environment. 😊

Nobu is not just a Sushi restaurant, it's a dining experience! And though it's incredibly expensive, at least once you should throw fiscal caution to the wind! If you can land a table on the patio, the beauty of the crashing waves and sunsets are worth every penny, as you sip one of their amazing cocktails and soak in the Malibu vibe. The menu is delicious, with nice starters to choose from. My personal favorites are the spicy tuna with crispy rice, the Yellowtail Sashimi with jalapeño, and whole grilled Scallop on a homemade potato chip. The Black Cod with miso was perfection, as was the tender Ribeye with truffle butter. There was not a single disappointing dish. We ended on a high note with the warm caramelized bananas and soy drizzled ice cream. A first rate meal fit for any special occasion, which may simply be the need for a date with the beautiful Pacific Ocean.

I’ve been to various Nobu’s around the world, but the one in Malibu has to be my new personal favourite. The service was excellent and the food was incredibly high quality, beautifully presented & absolutely delicious. I will definitely be back the next time I’m in California.

Lunch with a view! Every dish was beautifully executed—flavourful, well-seasoned, and thoughtfully plated. The sauces and spices added depth without overpowering the natural flavour and freshness of the fish. Portions are on the smaller side, so you’ll likely need several dishes to feel full. I visit Nobu at least once every year, either for dinner or to enjoy bubbles at sunset. The venue has an extremely popular image, and because of this many people come just for the name. However, the kitchen offers outstanding experiences for true food lovers and proves that it deserves its reputation. Every dish is exquisite and unique. As for the sunset, it simply speaks for itself — no further comment needed.

First of all I didn’t know Nobu was a Japanese Peruvian fusion which made the whole experience even more interesting. We did the omakase and it was amazing. I loved the tiradito the wagyu nigiri the filet mignon and honestly almost everything. The drinks were also really good and at that price point that’s the least I expect. Overall it’s a once in a lifetime experience and I would say it’s worth it because the whole vibe there is just perfect

So worth the hype, it’s expensive not your usual dinner outing but if you want to go extra, go for it ! Absolutely amazing food, beautiful restaurant, have visited Nobu in Dubai, Qatar, Marbella, London and this is by far the best one! The food was amazing, mouth watering especially the steak was my favourite, it had like a garlicy topping on it and I still crave it everyday, also the Rib eye tacos were exceptional! Would come back anytime! We came at night time but I’d say during the day the views are fabulous and the sounds of the waves crashing are amazing! We miss Nobu Malibu and will be back for the best food ever! The service was also great the waiter was chatty and advising us on what to pick, wine was also great!

I’m not a fan of seafood and I still had plenty of options, I had the vegetable roll and ribeye steak, both of which were delicious. I recently went to Nobu Malibu for a dinner date to celebrate our 10 year anniversary! Upon arriving with a reservation, we were promptly seated on the patio space that faces the ocean - I loved the views and the atmosphere here - 100% perfect! The sound of the crashing waves every few minutes, the warm..cozy lighting, the upscale and yet relaxing, chill atmosphere..I'm in love! There were also plenty of heat lamps above, so even on a chilly November evening, I actually felt a little bit hot! Service was EXTREMELY attentive, friendly, and helpful with giving information and advice on menu items/customizing things to personal preferences. Of the food we got here, the Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna was a definite favorite!! A perfect blend of the crunchy exterior and an explosion from within as you take a bite - perfectly subtle heat and spice to match the rest of the flavor profiles. Everything else we ordered was similarly high-quality and solid - the only thing we'd probably skip on a future visit is the Rock Shrimp Tempura..which honestly just tasted a bit mushy and bland. We also enjoyed a couple rounds of cocktails during our dinner - all the drinks were beautifully presented and had a good strength to them. My favorite of the evening was the Malibu Breeze - a great option for anyone who enjoys a lightly fruity cocktail! All in all, this was the perfect spot to celebrate 10 years together, and they gave us a wonderful evening. I definitely believe Nobu Malibu is worth the hype, especially when wishing to celebrate a special occasion!

The tasting menu did an excellent job of elevating Japanese cuisine and showcasing its range and precision. For me, this was a completely new experience with Japanese cuisine. I tried flavors and dishes that I genuinely loved, and a few that weren’t necessarily my personal preference—but that’s part of the experience, and I appreciated the opportunity to explore something new. The variety of flavors throughout the evening was impressive and memorable. This has nothing to do with the restaurant itself, but one thing I found surprising was how many people seemed deeply immersed in their phones instead of enjoying the stunning ocean views, the sound of the waves, and the people sitting across from them. When you’re spending $500–$1,000 on a dinner, it feels like an experience meant to be fully present and shared. Maybe it’s just a California thing—but either way, Nobu Malibu is a place worth savoring in every sense.

Nobu Malibu is an unforgettable dining experience with some of the best ocean views in California. The setting alone is breathtaking, sitting right over the water, especially at sunset, makes the entire meal feel special. The food is exceptional. The sushi and sashimi are incredibly fresh, and every dish is beautifully presented. The oysters were clean, briny, and perfectly chilled, and the tuna dishes were a standout, rich, flavorful, and balanced with just the right amount of sauce and citrus. You can really taste the quality in every bite. The cocktails and drinks are just as refined, creative, and well-crafted, pairing perfectly with the menu. Service was attentive and professional without feeling rushed. Perfect for a special occasion or a memorable coastal dinner. Highly recommend.

This was easily the best Japanese food I've ever had, The presentation was phenomenal and every bite was filled with flavor. Parking was valet, and service was fast. Servers were polite and regularly refilled drinks The atmosphere is very instagrammable.

Five stars truly isn’t enough. Karen and I had our first experience at Nobu Malibu on a rainy afternoon, and it ended up being one of the best meals we’ve ever had. From the moment we sat down, Sapeer took incredible care of us. Every recommendation he made was flawless — he paced the meal perfectly and guided us through what felt like a curated tasting experience. Jackie was equally fantastic — warm, attentive, and genuinely excited about the dishes she was bringing out. The food absolutely lived up to — and exceeded — the hype. The yellowtail jalapeño was the clear star of the show. It was one of the best bites we’ve ever had. The scallop and whitefish sashimi specials were stunning and beautifully balanced. Honestly, every sashimi dish was exceptional. Even the black cod, rock shrimp, and yuzu ribeye were outstanding (though we definitely over-ordered because everything sounded too good to pass up). Between the ocean view, the fireplace, the service, and the precision of every dish, it was a memorable experience from start to finish. We’ll absolutely be back.

Let’s start with this: you simply have to go. The location alone makes it worth it right on the ocean, with a beautiful view and an incredible ambiance. It’s one of those places you don’t rush through. Order a cocktail, get a few appetizers, and just enjoy the moment. The drinks were excellent, and the staff was genuinely friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. This isn’t the type of place you visit expecting a super formal Michelin-style dining experience. You go for the atmosphere, the company, and the feeling of sitting by the beach while the sun sets. It’s more about the vibe than the perfection and honestly, that’s exactly what makes it special.

Beachside restaurant with great food and impeccable service, and the ambience can't be beat. You must try their "KUROZATO" dessert, so delicious. Only down point is that for vegetarians there are only 2 Sushi options which has average taste. In terms of reservations, it's hard to get but sometimes they do accept walk-ins.

On a perfect beach day, I finally had the chance to enjoy lunch at Nobu. We started with appetizers like crunchy okra—a brilliant introduction for anyone who’s never tried okra before—and fresh oysters. As someone who enjoys traditional sushi, I opted for à la carte selections such as aji, saba, and kohada. The uni from Santa Barbara was especially outstanding. To finish, I had a semifreddo for dessert. The service was professional, and the entire experience was delightful. With the stunning ocean view and refreshing sea breeze, I left Malibu in the best of moods.

The hostess was an Angel, graced us with a table outside like we wanted and she was not only professional but very pleasant. The food was ok but not the best: the shishito peppers were excellent, sea bass was good but not impressive and the yellowtail was very basic and the cut too thick.

[4.3 / 5] The iconic Nobu Malibu. While the view, the atmosphere, and service is quite up to par with expectations, it is somewhat hard to justify the rather hefty price. While most of the dishes taste great, the portions are quite small and some tasted just “okay.” That being said, the quality of the dishes and ingredients were undoubtedly great. While the restaurant may not justify the price tag for “non-special” meal, I think it may be worth it for some special occasion. Also good to note that they offer valet/parking, while its extremely hard to find a decent parking in Malibu.

Beautiful location for a restaurant. My brother and I overall had a good time. Service was a little slow though and we weren't told the water by our table was pay to refill. The portion of food was kind of tiny, but atmosphere and seeing the Pacific make up for it really.

Pro tip: sushi is fantastic but get a hot main entree, especially the black cod miso. We had a good time and food was fantastic. However, there was one and sort of big issue for me - we were seating outside by the deck, somewhat near the fireplace - and there goes one of the employees deciding to mess up with the fireplace, which with the wind blowing got our table completely covered with ash, I mean even our drinks and some food. Even as we politely (perhaps too politely) asked them to at least clean our table properly, nobody said anything or even apologized.

Food is good as always. Good luck getting a reservation, but it can be done if you’re patient on the phone. Their outdoor patio is over the water which is nice, but I definitely feel that the Malibu location is overhyped compared to some of their lesser desired locations. People definitely ripping lines in the toilet stalls between courses.

Cannot beat the views, the food is creative and fairly good, cocktails, nice selection. However from my 3 or 4 trips there, I cannot say customer service is where it should be, my only excuse for them is maybe because of the traffic they see, they cannot be too attentive, polite and welcoming.

I know some people came here for the fame because this is a star restaurant that lots of celebrities like to visit. You might encounter a star. What I don’t like about is : 1. The food is ok, not legendary. This time I ordered Black cod was tender. I like it. That’s why a 4 star. 2. The narrow space. I knew you can stay outside restaurant. There were comfy couches, the fire heater, and Oceanside. But inside restaurant, the table is small, the space of dining is small. I don’t feel comfortable. At this aspect of all Japanese restaurants, I love the magnificence of YAMASHIRO. the view is great even though it is not on the seaside. But for food, I prefer Nobu. What I like the most for this visit is On the way to go there. 1. PCH is closed due to the wildfire at Palisades, which every one knows. Usually it takes 30-40 mins to get there from my home. This time it took me almost 2 hours (1 hour 45 mins) because you will have to go to Calabasas then get down to Malibu. It sucks, but the view from Calabasas to Malibu Greek was stunning. I love nature vibe. I can just stop at Malibu Greek for a while, and enjoy nature a little on my way, then go to eat later. 2. Driving back at night on Mulholland drive makes me feel in the movie. It was so fun to drive here, and I don’t need an excuse only for driving here. Because now it is a must pass drive. 3. Back to restaurant, I like their BGM. BGM at restaurant does matter to me, it tickles my nerves, and will me enjoy, and relax. Overall, Japanese food is not my favorite. Sometimes, I don’t care about what to eat. Vibe matters. I could just cook something really delicious at home. Dressing formal for the respect of going somewhere luxury does not please me any more. I like no makeup, no formal clothes. Just chill, and be myself without makeups, and flirting dresses. Human world is not just acting. You can always be yourself, and not disturb others.

Very good food and busy atmosphere. Lots of influencers. Waiter was a little pushy with “order family style” and “The menu is laid out for you to order from the first page and end on the last pages. After 2 hours it didn’t seem like we ate much. Joked about wrapping up at the McDonalds across the street. Would go again, but probably not my idea. Drinks are deceptively strong.

Great atmosphere right on the beach in Malibu. However service and food presentation were a little sloppy which is shocking given the expectations and price. Examples are sauces with drips on plate, napkins with stains, wait staff looked schlocky (stained clothes, not fitted, bumped into me walking behind me, splashing water over my glass during refills). Took a long time to take our order, second glass of wine took forever and one side dish never came. We asked for extra ginger and wasabi and it came once we were done with dish 🤷🏻‍♂️. Bathrooms were also dirty (toilet paper on floor and mirror needed wiping - I cleaned it myself because I’m OCD like that and believe in leaving places cleaner than I found them). I’m usually super casual and easy going but we all noticed it and unfortunately it affected our experience. Food was very tasty so we were happy overall but the experience could be better. Posting photos of the dishes that did turn out. Mentioning all this so management can create the delightful guest experience we all expect and they probably hope to deliver.

It was nearly impossible to make a reservation, so I ended up showing up to see if I could get a walk-in spot. Despite many empty tables, I had to wait over an hour for a table. I was eventually seated at the chef's counter, which wasn’t ideal and negatively impacted the experience. While the food was consistent and high-quality, it came out very slowly—I waited over 45 minutes for hot dishes, even though the restaurant wasn't at full capacity. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place. Instead, I would suggest trying Zuma, which seemed to have a better vibe. Don't get sucked into the hype about this establishment.

Went there last night. I’ll start by saying that the service was really slow. We were with 4 adults and 2 kids and while ordering, our waitress (Gina) just said, I’m going to leave and come back while we were quickly deciding on few items for kids. Like she could not wait for us a minute after we have been looking for her the whole time. She then forgot to add my order so my food came later than all other dishes. I understand it’s a high class Japanese restaurant but I dared to ask if she has any ketchup for my 5 year old. She could have said, no. But she was rude and said. No, this is a Japanese restaurant, we don’t have ketchup. This was not just a stop for appetizers, we consumed 3 bottles of wine, starters and mains. Thanks Gina, I’ll spend $1,000.00 on dinner somewhere else next time. The view was ok. I prefer Geoffrey’s after last night.

This place is definitely over rated and not worth the price at all. I came here to celebrate my daughter birthday, The service is so slow and the food is not that great we ordered a few rolls and not one of them is worth ordering and the tuna with crispy rice that was just okay, only good thing was my daughter dessert and the cod fish. The girls bathroom was so dirty and messy. The view of the beach was amazing. This is my honest opinion they have over hyped this place so much that maybe they got too comfortable serving food with no flavor because celebrities come here!

Our party of two arrived at 11:30 for a 12 pm counter reservation, and were seated at a table by the water. The view and location is excellent, and the main draw of the restaurant. The food was decidedly average, and the service wasn't bad, but it also wasn't good. There's nothing here other than the location, and the old reputation, to indicate that this restaurant is worth your time or money. Nobu has a reputation now as a place to be seen eating and flashing your credit card, rather than to eat anything truly memorable. I was open to giving it a chance, but all of this was overshadowed by the treatment we received from the valet in charge of parking. After asking him to unlock the car to retrieve my phone, he became extremely irritated, and tore up my ticket and told me to go find my own parking. I got the impression it was because I didn't tip him for the effort of unlocking my car. We managed to find street parking, but this was the antithesis of hospitality, and cast a shadow over the entire visit. Malibu has 21 miles of scenic coastline. Visitors would be better served enjoying any of the other 20 miles it provides.

When we came in the front entrance we had to walk around for 2 minutes before being greeted although we came across multiple servers/ employees When we were seated we were handed the menu and we made our choices before the food came it took some time but it was really good and nice. Overal my experience was alright why the 2 stars?? They say hospitality is one big theater and I agree but this was a REALLY bad one they were too friendly it seemed fake, putting up high voices and exaggerating as a woman in from my experience you are only welcome here if you are very popular or if you order a wine that’s worth 400+ dollars. Having just moved to LA, I was extremely excited to take my date to Nobu, it's a restaurant I've dined at and enjoyed at multiple of their locations. Seeing as this is their main location I did expect a little extra LA spice, but was quite disturbed at our treatment. Quickly after ordering our waiter misgendered my partner, plainly, the waiter addressed me and my boyfriend ladies. :/ We were noticeably treated different and more poorly then others. Beware if you are visibly queer. Discrimination aside, do not expect high end service, despite the price. Waiter did not notice when drinks were empty, plates needed to be cleared, if valet was to be called after the meal, or even check in. Hostesses were stiff and used pushy language to try to encourage us to a less desirable seat. Some staff were friendly, though clumsy and bumped into our table multiple times. Aside from that the view was impeccable, location is to die for. Food was good, but lacked graceful timing, as some plates were left to linger while others we were rushed through.

I’m really disappointed with my experience at Nobu Malibu, especially compared to the amazing service I had at Nobu Coronado before. We went to celebrate my friend’s birthday and called ahead, but no one brought the cake, said happy birthday, or even refilled her Diet Coke.
