Walked in on a Sunday afternoon and sat right down and the food was good
Great sammiches with a lovely view of Saratoga lake. Olivia, our waitress was attentive & asked food preferences. Our food was very good. We had a,Rachael, A burger & the Mother Clucker. We were all happy with it meals.
Probably one of the cleanest, well run eateries I’ve ever eaten at. Being in the food business myself for many years I was extremely impressed with the staff from the bartenders, food preparation staff, the hostesses, and the on-site appearances of the owners. Food was fabulous, prepared as we ordered, on time with a waitress that was beyond attentive. Quality and prices were fantastic. We have been there several times since our original visit and will come back several times during our trips to area in the future.
Can't remember our server's name (think it started with a B), but she was excellent. We really enjoyed our meal and the view of the lake!
We are so lucky to have Carson’s in our neighborhood. It’s our go-to for summer nights on the outdoor patio, football Sunday at the bar, live entertainment, and delicious drinks and meals. The menu has something for everyone and I’ve tried it all. Whether you want pub food favorites, fresh salads, elevated wraps and sandwiches, or entree staples and specials, you won’t be disappointed. The staff is dedicated to making your experience a great one and the owners are on premise much of the time to ensure quality is top notch. Can’t say enough about this casual restaurant that delivers a delightful experience for guests time and time again.
All the meat is roasted on site !!! I have to say the Ruben was one of the best ones I've ever had. I hear the hamburgers are excellent but I didn't have one the french fries and onion rings were amazing. Carrot cake for dessert... sitting outside with this amazing view Three of us shared two dinners and a salad and one dessert. The bill was $98
Not our first time at Carson's but it was our first time on a football Sunday & sitting in the bar area! Loved the multiple games! Delicious food (as always)! Attentive waitress. Another great experience.
Have been here several times with family and have enjoyed it each time. They are very popular and very busy, so the key is to secure a table asap. The restaurant opens around noon. If you get there around 11:50ish, you will most likely get a table without waiting. My favorite spot is the upper deck. This is outside and has good views, but has a roof, fans, and their own bar. Menu is fairly diverse and offers good appetizer and meal options. I recommend the chili and chips or the pretzels and beer cheese app! Always happy to return here during the summer, or on a nice sunny day.
Great atmosphere with terrific service and very good food. It's a relaxing, fun place to have a decent meal. Pumpkin beer with a cinnamon rim was yum! The Buffalo chicken wrap was tasty, too.
Loved the food. The view of the Saratoga lake was spectacular. My salmon was delicious. My husband actually loved the burger he ordered and he is very selective. Sorry, no pictures as we were enjoying the view and the food so much.
Best boneless chicken bites! Im not even certain if they had breading or batter - if was thin perfection! The sauce adhered really well without turning it into sopping chicken chunks like you get in most places. The view was outstanding and the waitress never rushed us for just hanging out to catch up, and she even kept checking long after our meals were done and packaged up. Will happily be returning!
This is a small place near Saratoga Lake. The view out past the patio seating is a gorgeous addition to a dinner. There are different foods from sandwiches to full dinners. We've been there several times and it's always been quite tasty with enough to take home for later. Definitely will visit again.
First time here on the 4th and I had an amazing time. We waited just a bit for a patio table, but who cares! Food took about 30 minutes but it’s very much to be expected for how crazy busy it was, and the staff reassured us everything is cooked to order, so again who cares! We got the Steve-O’s, Mac n Cheese, and Southwest Chicken Salad and we can’t wait to come back to get it again! Just be patient, soak in the beautiful view, and tip the hard working servers/bartenders!😊
My new favorite local place to eat. Food is consistently good, prices are reasonable.
Great spot overlooking Saratoga Lake. Barroom (no view), inside dining (full view), patio with occasional live music (full view). Large lunch menu, including happy hour, smaller entree menu with daily specials. Informal, great waitstaff. Used to be Cliff’s Steakhouse. Crowded during Saratoga Track season.
What can you REALLY say about a place that has it all? Delicious food, great staff, fun patrons, and owners unlike any I’ve ever seen before. They are wonderful people who treat their staff and their customers with such kindness and respect not to mention they’re so much fun themselves and good dancers too! The restaurant has such a beautiful atmosphere inside and out. The food is hot and fresh and the menu is very well rounded. How did we get so lucky to have this gem right here in Malta?! Thank you!!!!
Came here after a funeral 25 people deep. We had no reservation and they let us in, sat us down and they were wonderful!!! Big props to Michael at the bar... he was awesome and on point with everything... received great service and the food all came out delicious (and all the food came at the same time and accurate). Would definitely recommend. Thank you for your hospitality in our time of sadness.
Stopped by while traveling to hear some live music . Nice bar on a very scenic overlook. Friendly people. Didn't try the food. Highly Recommend. One of the few places in the area that have live music.
We met today for a family lunch. Carson was fantastic. We all had separate checks and our server. Holly made everything come out perfect as well as the food was delicious.
We're vacationing in the area and have seen this place being quite busy so we decided to give it a try. It is easy to see why it is so popular. The restaurant is clean and spacious. The view is fantastic. The staff was very nice and attentive. Finally the food was delicious! I had the Monday night special beef "on weck" sandwich and my wife a turkey sandwich. We were very satisfied and would love to go back.
Delicious food and great service. We had a beautiful view of the lake from our inside dining area. We finished our drinks on the patio overlooking the lake. Our server was friendly and efficient. I also liked that there was ample space between the tables and overhead fans to keep things cool. I had the chicken Chipotle wrap and my wife had the Texan wrap and both were delicious. I had one of local craft beers which was very good. We love the place and will definitely be back.
This is a great pub hidden away a bit about a mile from Route 9 with views of Saratoga Lake. We ate here 2 times in the past couple months and were happy with both dinners. Most of us ordered burgers or sandwiches and they were all very good. The buffalo wings were also good - cooked crispy - but probably could have used a bit more buffalo sauce. We will definitely be back.
Dispite the place being almost completely full we were seating immediately. Our server was very attentive even though she had multiple tables to attend to. Everyone enjoyed their lunch with 3 of us getting boxes to go since the servings were plentiful. It probably took a little longer to get our food than normal but considering the crowd, coming and going, the food came pretty quick. A good experience with a lovely view of the lake.
Kasey was an awesome waitress! Never had to ask for a refil, checked on us and with our to go had a lid for the sauce. These days never expecting that kind of service but it is appreciated for sure.
Took my kids there at the beginning of our vacation and was thrilled by the service, the views and the food. OMG, the food. I got the Black, Bleu & Gold Burger. I'm not a huge fan of sauces and condiments, so asked for the Goldrush sauce on the side. I dipped every single bite into that sauce. Then, we went back the next day before the next part of our trip and I ordered the boneless wings with the Goldrush sauce. The service was great; attentive without hovering and patient with the kids' requests. The food came out quickly even though it was a Friday night. The Lakeview room was beautiful and the view stunning. I'm looking forward to my next visit!
Love this place! Great music and a "Cheers" atmosphere. Owners and staff are so friendly.
This was my first time here. I came with my parents and previous next door nieghbors. The wait was an hour, our food did take a while once we got sat but it was very much worth it! The music beforehand and band outside was awesome! The view was great too! Our server, Casey did a good job checking in on us and making sure we were all situated! Grace, who I work with somewhere else also took the time to stop by and see how we were doing! Although I'm not crazy about long waits whether it is for food or to be seated, I can safely say this was worth it and I will be back! The place is very well ran, especially on a very busy day!
Carson’s Woodside Tavern hits the trifecta. Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Our server was friendly, proactive, bringing us extra napkins before we asked for them. She made sure we always had a beverage. We ordered in the food was brought out quickly. Everything was delicious. We were able to sit on the porch and enjoy the grand Central Station band while overlooking beautiful Saratoga lake. After dinner, we relaxed on the patio, danced and met old friends and made new ones. Bill and Susie make everyone feel like family each and every time you are there, there hospitality is endless. When we arrived, the hostess told us it would be an hour away and she was Spa on. We enjoyed the band and a beverage on the patio while listening to music before dinner. It’s a very busy and popular restaurant especially during the summer hours But worth the weight. Enjoy the view, make new friends, have a beverage and relax, it’s worth it.
We had a fabulous lunch there today with wonderful staff serving us! Also, a great place to relax on Saratoga Lake in the summer with indoor and outdoor bars and seating. Great menu choices!
Decided to stop and have lunch and watch some Sunday football. Driven by here several times, so being we don't live too far away, we stopped. Beautiful place with a view overlooking Saratoga Lake. Fire place was going as it was a cold, snowy afternoon, which just adds to the ambiance. Order the Rib special OMG talk about delicious and getting a large portion to the point we took home leftovers, which I never do. The staff are warm and inviting and do not go over asking how things are every 30 seconds. Out for an afternoon or a motorcycle ride, here's the place to stop, going by at dinner time it's always packed and called before heading over. Lunch time was that it was not packed, so it was comfortable, filling, delicious, and the price was cheap compared to other places that give you an appetizer at a full dinner plate price. Do yourself a favor and go see the great people at Carson's, and if you go home hungry, it's your own fault.
We went here for lunch on the way home. Beautiful grounds overlooking a lake. The back patio has lots of places to sit socially distancing while waiting for your table. If you order drinks from the bar you must buy some sort of food item. Meatballs were available. They were very tasty and set the tone for the meal. They have a good array of lunch foods including half sandwiches with a side. The cheese soup was very good, as were the sandwiches. The staff was top notch. Next time we come up to the Saratoga area we will be certain to visit this place for dinner.
We have visited Carson's a few times now. The atmosphere is warm, the service is great and the food has been consistently flavorful and cooked perfectly! The bartender was great as well when we stopped for a nightcap! Definitely added this place to our regular rotation!
Wonderful food and great views! The restaurant is always impeccably of decorated and the staff is always friendly. Our family of 4 always finds what we want on the menu!
Visited Carson Woodside Tavern and had a great experience. We ordered the Cajun chicken salad with jalapeño ranch dressing and the buffalo chicken wrap, and both were excellent. The fries were crispy, the French onion soup was delicious, and the drinks were very good. The staff was friendly and attentive throughout our visit. Highly recommend, and we will definitely be back.
We went with office buddies to see the Art-N-Shawna Trio. The band was great - lots of upbeat music and excellent musicianship. Carson's has a very down-to-earth atmosphere where friends and families can enjoy themselves. But it's a great place for hanging out with buds at the bar, too. The staff was terrific very friendly with lots of smiles. Service was impeccable. We were catered to! Just all-round nice folks. I loved my blackened chicken wrap, and hubby truly enjoyed his fish and chips. We can't wait to go back!
Wings, burgers and sandwiches are awesome. Bar can always use an extra hand very busy on Sundays. Bands are always great choices! The view is amazing! Usually opt to sit in bar because we are never sure what time we will arrive and wait is long. Absolutely love the atmosphere on our way up to our upstate destination.
Carson’s Woodside Tavern is a beautiful spot with a wide variety of comfort foods. We went for lunch on a late August afternoon when the weather was perfect and sat outside with a gorgeous view of Saratoga Lake and the mountains. Service was friendly and efficient, and the menu offered plenty of pub favorites. While nothing in particular stood out food-wise, everything was tasty, reasonably priced, and the setting really made the experience memorable. The atmosphere is relaxed, with outdoor seating and even Adirondack chairs if you just want to sit back and enjoy the view. Overall, it was a lovely experience, and I’d definitely return again.
Came from Myrtle Beach. This restaurant/bar is family-friendly. Opted for the food vendor on the patio as the wait inside was hours long. Lovely setting with Saratoga Lake in the background. Isaac at the outside bar was excellent, considering the patio was packed. The Accents are a great band. So much fun!
I started my meal with a steaming bowl of French onion soup. Its rich, savory broth was infused with sweet caramelized onions and topped with a perfectly melted layer of Gruyère cheese, creating a delightful, gooey contrast. The warmth of the soup enveloped me in comfort, and each spoonful delivered deep, complex flavors that danced on my palate. For the main course, I enjoyed a beautifully grilled salmon fillet, expertly cooked to perfection, with a crispy yet tender exterior that gave way to a moist, flaky interior. It was elegantly presented on the plate, accompanied by a decadent roasted red pepper cream sauce that added a luscious creaminess and a hint of smokiness. On the side, vibrant sautéed spinach, cooked just enough to retain its bright green color and slight crunch, provided a burst of freshness. Completing the dish was wholesome brown rice pilaf, fluffy and nutty, perfectly seasoned to complement the salmon's and the sauce's richness—the combination of flavors and textures made for a truly memorable dining experience.
We came in the winter and got the fish specials. They were amazing. Both the menu and seating area is very big. They also have a deck for in the summer. There was live music and the waiter was very nice. I think they are known for their sandwiches so we’d get those next time. It was definitely on the more expensive side for being a tavern. So it’s a little more upscale. But very good.
First time & Loved it! Great menu, with a lot of different ways to go choice wise. Started off with fried mozzarella w/malba sauce and also tried the sweet chili wings, which were both on point. I had the Steve’O hot sandwich for the main course, which had turkey bacon & green apple, yes I said it…green apple on a hot sandwich and it hit. Didn’t know what to expect and it was a wow for me. Excited to get back when I’m in town and check out the rest of the menu. Absolutely scrumptious.
Friendly fast service with amazing food! I had the cowboy burger which was cooked medium like I wanted. The fries were delicious! My husband had the mac and cheese with chicken and it was really good as well. They had a band playing, so when we were done, we went to the patio free of charge (bc we ate there first). Band was fun and the view was so pretty.
After a few weeks of waiting, and the phone lines now fixed, I was able to get through to Carson's to place of pickup order. I've been highly anticipating placing an order with this place ever since reading the menu online, and I'm pleased to say everything turned out as good as I had hoped. My order was for an appetizer portion of the Beer Battered Onion Rings and a Chipotle Chicken Wrap sans the Tomatoes with the Beer Battered French Fries. The onion rings were phenomenal, and went super well with the Cajun remoulade that is included. So darn good, and I do love me some onion rings. The wrap was also pretty wonderful, it held together really well, the chicken was slightly blackened and a nice hit of spice from the chipotle sauce. The fries were a little on the softer side compared to what I enjoy, and the pickle was way saltier than I was expecting. But, I was very satisfied with everything. Bare in mind I do have to travel 30+ minutes to get home from here, so the food was a little on the cooler side, but that's a me problem. Placing the order was a little cumbersome, as you can't place orders online, only over the phone, and only around 20 minutes before you want to pick it up. So if you do want to do pickup, I suggest waiting until the last second when you're 20 minutes out to put the order in. Picking up the order was easy, but did take a little bit. I had to wait for the bartender to see to all the bar patrons as well as a party that came in a couple seconds before me to place some drink orders for a birthday party. I'm fine waiting, but it was clear that the bartender was a little run thin seeing to everything. I'd suggest having a more dedicated area for pickups, and maybe assign one of the staff to check the area occasionally for patrons waiting to pickup to avoid stressing the bartender out. Overall this was an A list meal and it might have been even better had I been dinning in, ordering and pickup were a tiny bit of a hassle, and I think this will be a location I return to in the future someday for another dinner.
What a beautiful sunset view! The fire pits, live bands and drinks make this an amazing place to congregate with friends. It would have been perfect date night too! We ate an early dinner inside that was yummy I got the French onion dip that was a lovely tender beef sandwich and the soup did its job perfect to dip or slurp. Then we grabbed the white sangria at the bar outside, fire-pit seats and enjoyed the view while catching up with old friends. Soon a move hand rolled in and the place was bumpn! Great meal, drinks and fun times.

The food is always great here...well prepared. I just wish Carson's would have a better beer menu. It looks like corporate beer runs the show. This makes no sense when we have so many FABULOUS local craft beers.
Love outdoor area. Unfortunately more of a bar now than a restaurant. Tuxedo shrimp is wear it's at. Used to be a great place to get a steak, don't recommend the steak now. The cut if beef has declined and it's always overcooked. It's not ownerships fault, it's just too busy. Fantastic ambiance
Carson's Woodside Tavern is a beautiful place to go for a nice meal. The views are amazing overlooking Saratoga Lake. I went on a beautiful fall afternoon with a nice chill in the air. The wait time was about 25 minutes however they had nice fire pits we could sit at and enjoy a nice cocktail and overlook the scenic backdrop of the lake and the mountain ranges. The seasonal cocktail I ordered was Jack Daniel's Fire with apple cider a cinnamon stick with a Brandy Cherry. The drink was phenomenal which I would be replicating at home. The seating arrangements are indoor or outdoor yet they have an indoor/outdoor area under a tent with standalone propane heaters to keep you warm which i though was a nice a touch. The food options were good we ordered a simple bacon cheeseburger with cheddar cheese which came out very juicy a bit over cooked but juicy and a steak fajita wrap with these special sauce which was amazing, Cooked to perfection. Overall I had a good time and a good meal. Must go place for the ambiance. Good family resturant.
Nice view overlooking the lake from the distance to Lake Saratoga in our Adirondack chairs. Had dinner in the lounge at a high top, food was good, service was great for how busy it was.
Pub and restaurant with nice view of Saratoga Lake. Had shrimp cocktail which was disappointing as it was 5 tiny shrimp- kind of felt ripped off. Also had chili with chips(very good) grilled chicken sandwich, onion rings, which were also good. The service was fine and the food tasted good and was served hot. They had a good band playing for entertaining. I would go back here, just avoid the shrimp cocktail.
Gorgeous view atop Saratoga Lake. Staff was kind and attentive. The food was very good w large portions. The make their own fettuccini. Wish we discovered this place sooner. Great lunch experience.
Everything was great.I took one star off because of the dessert.$8.95 plus tax for something the size of a cupcake? I won't make that mistake again.
First time here with a group. They had a band and we paid a cover to enter the overlook but others coming from the restaurant side didn’t have to. Not a huge deal but the wait staff was not so friendly. Maybe they were stressed with the number of people to see the band. Our food was good and the views of Saratoga Lake were beautiful.
We arrived here for a quick late lunch around 1:30 pm, but it took some time for the waitress to seat us, despite our lunch hour nearing its end. Another ten minutes passed before we could place our order. Our food finally arrived at 2:10 pm, as shown in the picture I took. This seems to be the typical pace of service in this area. We opted for the turkey sandwich with sweet potato fries, which tasted delicious but was larger than expected. Once again, we ended up sharing sandwiches. The dry rub chicken wings were flavorful but too dry for my preference, coated in Cajun seasoning.
Went on a very busy, warm & sunny spring day. Mike was our server, he was very polite and efficient. Portions were enormous (we love leftovers!) And food was really good. Fries were excellent!! Hostess wouldn't seat us by the window and I'm not sure why, because she did seat a few people shortly after there. I can't put my finger on it, but something about that gave weird energy. I will definitely return to sit on the deck this summer, stunning views!
Spontaneously stopped in on NYE just for dessert and coffee and were seated right away. The waitress was very friendly and the live band was great. Best carrot cake we ever had!

Not that great. We ordered cabbage sausage soup that had no sausage in it. We told our server and they did nothing about it. Burger just ok. The service was slow. Don't feel the need to return.

Another revisit and it didn't disappoint. Service, beer, Food, & Value? Good. The whole experience is pretty good and the views of the lake are really nice. I wouldn't hesitate to go back again.
The food was ok but the staff was very disorganized. We had a reservation but they were not ready. My son got the wrong meal. The bartender was rude and, everything was very over priced. Definitely not good value for the money. We won't come back.
The food and drinks were really good, but our experience was let down by the service. Our waiter, Aiden, took our order and then mostly hung out at the bar, never checking on us again. It wasn't until we were finishing our meal that another waitress finally came to refill our waters. When we left, we handed our tip to the waitress who had helped us, only to find out she put it in what we assumed to be a communal tip jar. It feels unfair to those who are actually putting in the effort while others aren’t pulling their weight.
I really want to love this place because the outdoor space is beautiful and the view of the lake is incredible. Unfortunately, every time I visit, I walk away feeling more like a bother than a guest. It always seems like an inconvenience when we ask to sit outside, even though the space is available. Oddly, the outdoor section often closes in the middle of the day, which is disappointing—especially given how perfect it is for enjoying the scenery. With a location like this, you’d think they’d make more of an effort to create a welcoming experience.
Our server was very accommodating. She was pleasant and friendly. The food was good, the only big issue I had was our entire party had sent our drinks back. We opted to get bottled beer and wine. There is something extremely funky about the water and apparently it affects the ice as well. Worst tasting drinks ever. Although we had a nice time, the drink issue was a deal breaker for us. Unfortunately we will not be back. We were looking forward to having dinner and a few drinks with friends to catch up. Unfortunately the topic of the horrific tasting water/ice stole the spotlight.
If you’re going for dinner or to the bar, very dark. And service is just ok. Server put our dinner and soup in to be served at the same time. Can’t eat both at the same time.
The fish and chips included haddock with a crispy coating and moist, flaky interior and warm, mushy french fries. The atmosphere was unremarkable but at least it was relatively quiet. Until the live entertainment started and everyone spoke louder to try to be heard over it. Then the noise was unbearable.
Beautiful view of Saratoga Lake. Food was good but the prices are high for what you get. We got the pretzel bite appetizer which was $14 for a small plate of pretzel shaped bread. The Reuben was good. Kids menu sliders are not good - a small piece of dry meat on bun. The prices are high for the quality of food. Service was mediocre. Drink refills had to be requested. Servers showed no concern for empty cups. Did I mention the prices are high? Ambience was nice but I probably won’t be back.
Local here. Very dissatisfied - I give 2.5 stars. Pros: - Live music with local bands!! - Location & view of Saratoga Lake - Friendly staff Cons: - We sat in the lake view room and there was ONE server for the entire area on a Friday night. The poor dude was running around and apologizing to every table for the delay every time he stopped by. - Ordered a medium rare prime rib and was given a VERY cooked cut. For $40+ we would have rather the staff come back and asked if we still wanted it as they ran out shortly after. I was ready to return but with this experience it's not worth it.
The location and view of Lake Saratoga are really amazing, as was the live music and service. The food is average. We had the French onion soup which has lots of cheese and a good beefy flavor. The Buffalo wings are good - not too spicy. The chili & chips was ok but the chili was a tad salty for me. Nice pours on the bourbon!

My husband, my daughter, and I stopped for dinner. We sat in the dining room closest to the hostess area. The lighting was so poor I had to use my cell phone flash light to read the menu. I noticed…
I had a Rueben with mac salad and a beer. the meat was tough, the mac salad was a bit dry and no flavor, the beer was excellent!!
5 star view but 1 star on the mix drinks. They were terrible, we drank not even half our drinks and got surfsides as the drinks were purely gross. Bartender didnt even remember us 5 minutes later and we had opened the tab with her. $50 for 2 surfsides basically.
We went here with our family about a year and a half ago and it was very nice service food and all. We have since tried to go with our family of 5 and the waits have been horrendously long. 1.5-2 hours to get a table inside or out we are told. I am sure if it was a rainy day when it is off season this would likely not be the case. It would not be so bad if we could make a reservation or call in to be put on wait list. From a business prospective and based on the restaurants responses in other reviews they seem to not care about this and simple respond in ways such as “good then don’t come back”. Not a great move from a business prospective but to all their own. Anyways a good example of a restaurant that is very high volume yet seems to master in situations like this I feel is Texas Roadhouse. They have a very interesting system where you can make reservations and you get a wait time and then you show up to restaurant check in and wait your turn so it still may be a wait as they don’t hold tables but at least the wait is under 30 minutes once you are there. I think this would be an interesting business model they should consider. By using this model it will allow people to both have the convenience of making a time to dine without having to physically show up and then leave and come back (no one wants to sit in a car for 1.5-2 hours because often the bar is full and the outside seating to wait is full). From a business prospective this would not hurt the restaurant like reservation can when a table sits vacant. I understand this review will most likely result in a response from the venue of a negative nature(based on other responses from negative posts)but I feel this is a unbiased review of the situation. Hopefully this will inspire some change
When we arrived, the hostess asked if we had reservations and then laughed in our faces when we said we didn’t. The restaurant’s website states that they do not take reservations, so unsure why this was even asked. We managed to be seated, but our group of 6 got shoved into a bar table which was a tight fit. We were hoping for a lake view but it just wasn’t possible. The apps were good, the entrees and drinks weren’t anything to write home about. The Mac and cheese was like soup. Our entrees took an hour to come out and we ended up having to ask our server to check on them for us. We spent over two hours here and that was more than enough for us. We wouldn’t go back here again.
We've been to Carsons many times and always expect there will be a wait. We were pleasantly surprised when the hostess told us it would be 15 to 20 minute wait. That turned into a 45 minute wait. We were finally seated. It took our waitress a while address us. She couldn't answer the questions we had about drinks. The food came out with little wait and was very good. The clencher was here's your cheque with our glasses empty......didn't ask if we wanted a refill or any dessert. I think this will be our last visit as the service has been lacking every time we go. Should have picked our initial thought of going to The Local.
We came in to celebrate a birthday lunch and we're excited after a good experience last summer. Service was good. Food was okay. Crab bites we ordered were oily but tasted fine. Two Fish and chips came out soaked in oil and half cooked batter. I'm guessing they tried frying everything at once and the oil temps dropped too low to properly cook. Our server exchanged for a cheeseburger which took a. While and came out after others at the table were done eating. Flavor was okay. Temp on the burger was more medium rare than the medium I ordered and the fries were also very oily.
Carson's isn't a great place to eat, or socialize. I find it to be over priced for what they offer, and they should stop pretending to be a high end restaurant. The food is plain at best, and the…
Food was excellent, fresh, value for your money. Service was the worst, been there 3 times and every time I was ignored until I spoke up wanting to sit and be served. Again great food bad service.
I wrote a review on Google about being ignored by the waitstaff and the owner wrote back an excuse about the staff doing the best they can with a swarm of people to deal with. There was no swarm. Jus…

Came in from.rochester by and staying in Latham . Called if was busy for dinner girl said be 45 to 1 hour wait. We get there she now says at least 2 hours ? Well we left had to settle for local dive bar close near there. Thanks for the disappointment some once a year to race track and planned going there. Never heard of a 2 hour wait anywhere let alone in a 20 min drive
Usually busy, so we wanted to check it put. Just another, more expensive Applebee's. Arrived @ like 7pm on a Sat night in Oct, and the band was already done playing for the night? Bummer. Do not understand that?? We were seated in the outer patio area, which is all glass, so I was freezing 🥶. In retrospect, wish we'd sat inside, where it's warmer. Anyway, burgers were ok, very rich..but it was cooked rare, like I requested, and so I give them props for that! This is a restaurant for families, or large crowds...wanting a lively atmosphere. Not 4 those looking for a relaxing or romantic date night, where you're able to easily conversate. It was over $100, for 2 burgers, 2 small glasses of wine, 1 ice tea and 1 dessert. Side Note- most lakeside locals agree that it is deplorable how the hillside was clear cut for this restaurants lake view! From an ecological perspective, it is 😔 just sad. And we wonder why there is an algae bloom? That's Saratoga for you allowing such... ___________________ Update: to address owners response of confusion: 1. There are no time constraints on leaving reviews. Some people are simply busy, period. 2. As for "locals" not liking the view of the lake? It is not about the vantage From your restaurant, but rather the view from the Lake, Up At your restaurant... which btw sticks out like a sore thumb. (I'll upload a pic this summer). Now the landscape is barren and marred by the clear cutting of hundreds of trees. This is partly the reason for why the lake has an algae bloom. Saratoga Lakes water quality has been seriously compromised by over development, and the removal of trees. Especially in the last 5-10 yrs. If you researched the problem, you would find that blooms in large part are caused by the removal of trees! This causes polluted runoff to drain into the lake, that trees normally stop and filter. It's not only your restaurant, but also the construction of many new homes all around the hillsides of the lake. Many of our lakeside ("locals") neighbors now have flooding problems in their homes bcuz of this out of control (hillside) development. Bcuz of the flooding, & mud slides, many have sold their long time homes, (only to be turned into VRBO's, that's another big growing problem). It's the political arena that is responsible for the pollution and over development. Lake George no longer allows any removal of trees from around the lake or hillsides. SL could learn a lot from their policies to protect the environment and lake. Sure, people from the restaurants perspective (& you) love the view. Not vice-versa. And again not from an ecological stance either! In 2015 when you purchased the restaurant, you blatantly stated that you would be removing trees to open up the view. Simple Google search shows articles. I suppose you had no idea of the environmental impact of such? Just financial. However, when the lake is so grotesquely polluted, unswimmable and smells like a bog of stench, what's going to happen to property values 🤔 then?
After waiting outside to be seated for almost one hour, we were seated inside at a booth and waited another 45 minutes for someone to take our order. Then it was almost 1 1/2 hours before we had to ask where our “sandwiches” were. Our server came to us and said she was taken off our table so she could leave for the night and someone else would be taking care of us. Strangely enough, she was still taking care of other tables but would never walk by us. Our new server wouldn’t walk by us either and when we finally were able to ask where our sandwiches were, we were told they’d be out soon….it was another half hour. When they did finally come out, I couldn’t eat mine as the bread was hard as a rock and the turkey was dry as a bone. This happened ALL on Fathers Day 6/15/25. It absolutely ruined our day, and they only took my meal off the bill. The other two were just as bad and should have been taken off as well. We just left! I can assure you we won’t EVER be back! Maybe if we were told the truth we could have dealt with it better but we definitely were lied to at every turn. My sandwich was hard as a rock and the turkey was dry like it was left under a heat lamp the whole time. Choose somewhere else if you don’t want to be forgotten. Thanks for my worst Fathers Day EVER!!!
I so wanted to like this place and have been there several times over the years but tonight's experience was the final disappointment. If you are looking for good views (in the summer on the patio), decent cocktails and average music, this is the place to go. However I have never had a meal there that has wow'd me. Saying it's average food is being generous. Overly greasy, overly cooked and basic 'heat and serve' restaurant supply store meals is how it comes across. Not worth the price. It's the service (or lack there of) and the restaurant policies that are the low point. Anyone who is going as a large party should go somewhere else. They don't take reservations and at least half your party has to be there to be seated. The staff are disorganized. It took 5 different people who changed their minds 4 times to seat a party of 15. I understand this was a big party which can be a challenge, but we got there at 4:45 and the restaurant was mostly empty. And remember they don't take reservations so they weren't held for anyone. They finally seated us, but at 2 different tables. This was a birthday party. (Not mine. It was someone elses choice.) They took our order all at once but then delivered half our food, then the other half 15 minutes later, and it was cold. All the while there were 4 staff hanging out at the hostess station chatting. We were told it was delivered this way because we were put in as 2 different tables. Surprisingly our check came all as one table. Just not a place I can recommend for a meal. Like I said drinks outside listening to music and looking at the lake, then you're all set. Edit to add the owner's response to this review demonstrates the culture of this restaurant. It explains a lot about the customer service. No restaurant is expected to be perfect, but they are expected to take feedback and attempt to make improvements. Or apologize for possibly catching them on a bad day.
My family and I went for a birthday dinner and after reading so many great reviews we were very excited! Sadly, the experience could not have been much worse. After being seated we got drinks but then it seemed we were forgotten about. We pulled over what we thought was our server and she stated that she was “taking care of the whole dining room and was no longer our server” and someone else should have been over. Nobody had come back over. We also waited over an hour for food. Yes, we were a large party and ordered quite a few meals but when we called to make sure they could accommodate large parties they were certain they could. News flash, they can’t and need to be more transparent when people ask. If you are looking for a good view and drink then it may be for you but don’t go with a party larger than 4 people. P.S. the food was lack luster at best and the service was horrendous. Thank you, An extremely disappointed ex customer
