Easily the best Sicilian slices and pies in Westchester, and maybe even in a New York. Plain slices are great, salad slices wonderful, and I've never had anything from the kitchen that didn't impress. There's a reason that Sal's has been busy all day and night for as long as I can remember, and it's consistency. Go. Go now.
Great Pizza, large variety of unique ingredients, flavors, and styles. A classic location for any Pizza or Pasta lover living in or traveling through!
For me, the best pizza outside the City. Eveything is excellent and the crust is a worldbeater. A pepperoni slice is almost entirely covered by exquisite pepperoni, but the cheese and sauce flavors still come through. No fancy table cloths, and I don't know about wine and beer, but the pizza!
Best Sicilian Pizza on the planet. Their thin crust is really good too but the thick, flavorfull and cheesy Sicilian can't be beat. I've been huge fan for over 25 years
The absolute BEST PIZZA IN ALL OF WESTCHESTER COUNTY! The BEST SICILIAN PIZZA (and that's a comment coming from a Sicilian lady! ;-) ) and also their SALAD PIZZA IS THE BEST IVE EVER HAD! IT'S TRUE ITALIAN AT ITS BEST! Always a friendly awesome atmosphere of neighbors and friends you get to know throughout the years. As a lifetime local and even when I was away living on the other side of the country I was immediately remembered when I moved back and even got a free slice! ALSO A BONUS THEY ARE OPEN TILL MIDNIGHT WEEKDAYS AND TILL 1AM FRIDAYS AND SATURDAY NIGHTS! HOW MANY PIZZA PLACES IN A SMALL QUAINT TOWN CAN SAY THAT AND HAVE THE BEST PIZZA IN THE ENTIRE COUNTY?!
Everybody in Westchester knows Sal's, and with good reason. They have the best Sicilian slice you will have in your life. The plain is pretty good, but be warned, a normal pie taken out in a box gets soggy fast. The Sicilian takeout doesn't seem to have the same issue. I even know people who will buy multiple Sicilian pies, cut them up, and freeze them. Sounds a little crazy to me but they swear by it. Anyway, if you're on Mamaroneck Ave and you're looking for a slice, Sal's is the place to be.
Time & again these men produce stellar Sicilian pizza. I have never seen a place produce regular vs Sicilian in equal parts. It is quite the event to witness. I watched it all unfold as I waited on the designated ‘X’ in line. One dude actually walked in and asked for 4 & 4! Four Sicilian and four regular. This place is dreamy.
Despite being cash only, I love everything that they make. From the Sicilian slices to the Pan Pizzas and strombolis, Sal's has it all and at justified prices. The crew there are also awesome; they understand that Sal's is part of the community and they embrace that. I would highly recommend this restaurant in Mamaroneck if you are looking for the best pizza around.
Not sure if it’s your new pizza man but pizza was fantastic today !!! He is a keeper . Had to control myself from eating more than I should
Lol it was so good I ate it before I could snap a picture lol. It was my first time going in their after church. It was really good. The people that work there were nice!
Delicious pizza, tender chewy crust in a family atmosphere. Definitely more of a quick sit down than a full restaurant, and it’s only a takeout counter without table service.
Simply the Best! Nothing else to say.
Great pizza, lots of staff to help. It’s old school and only takes cash but they do have an ATM on property. I had a regular slice, salad slice, Sicilian and baked ziti with ricotta in my order to go. It was all really really good. I know people love their Sicilian and I understand why but I enjoyed the regular plain and the salad slice better. That’s just me. I prefer a thin NY slice of pizza. The Baked Ziti with Ricotta was outstanding and I will get it again. This place was busy but they manage it well and have a pretty good process for both dining in and taking out. Parking is the only problem but I parked a couple blocks away and walked. It was raining and it was still worth it. Go try this place.. You will enjoy it
I’ve been coming to this place for years! Their pizza is one of the Best! It’s always busy because their quality pizza has made them renown in Westchester. The pizza here never disappoints, but one of my favorite items to order is their Grilled Chicken Salad with mozzarella. It’s delicious! I recommend this pizzeria even to my enemies! 😀
This pizzeria reminded me of a neighborhood pizzeria I'd frequent as a child in Queens. Enjoyed the pizza. Got it to go, but would love to return to eat there with the kids. The place was crowded on a Friday evening. A regular cheese pizza is $20. Cash only.
Everyone is so nice. My husband and I grew up in the area but moved to Jersey when we got married. So when we're in the area we pick up a Sicilian pie to bring home! So good. Arguably the best as some in my family say.
Danielle cetani who said the Sicilian is not worth it must not know what good pizza is. I have eaten at Sal's since I was a kid in the late 80s. I now live in Fishkill NY in dutchess county and will drive an hour for a slice of Sal's Sicilian. I actually take an entire pie home 😮. Also salad slice is amazing because they have best Italian dressing around. That woman doesn't know pizza ignore her comment coming from a person from dutchess county where good Sicilian doesn't exist. Antonellas is the best option and it's a joke compared to Sal's ❤️!!!
Absolute landmark status. If you’ve never had you must try and see why they’re so popular. In my experience this is the home of the salad pizza slice. Many many many years ago I remember this was the first pizzeria to do it. Still done exactly the same since they invented it (i’m pretty sure they invented it, I’m gonna go ahead and say they invented it). Regular slice or white slice also good. Sicilian slice is extraordinary!
Hands down, the best Sicilian pies in the world. I’ve been coming to Sal’s for over 40 years, and their Sicilian is consistently out of this world.
Been coming here forever and got easily the best Sicilian pizza I’ve ever had. Other regular style pizza is decent nothing incredible. Staff are very friendly and prices are reasonable.
Sal's is the best pizza in NY. I've tried a lot of the other restaurants that Massie the to 10 list and none of them come close to the quality or taste of Sal's. My favorite is just a slice of pepperoni. The pepperoni they put on it is thick slice and delicious. My life loves the salad pizza they have.
Best pizza on Earth! I have been a loyal customer since 1982 and have yet to find better thin crust. The Sicilian is also quite good. I had many discussions with the late Sal (son of the founder) and he said the main ingredient that made the pizza so good was the sauce. He was correct.
Pizza is always great. Very friendly staff. This place is cash only, but they do have ATM on site. I have been going here since I was a teenager, and now I bring my sin here, and he loves their pepperoni pizza.
My opinion is the best pizzaria in Westchester County.I've been going there for over thirty years and I am joy every time I go
When I lived in Tokyo, I didn’t think want to eat Pizza everyday life in spite of there are a lot of good Italian restaurants in Tokyo. But I am crazy for here. often want to eat this Pizza
Best Sicilian pizza around! And great price too. Always make sure you have cash though! No credit cards taken here, but the pizza is so rich and delicious that it's worth the extra effort of cash only. My favorite is the Sicilian pie with tomato, garlic, basil, bacon, and extra cheese!
Sal’s is a real family style pizza. Best pizza around either in a slice or whole. Their pasta is fabulous also. They also have wedges, salads, and a selection of appetizers. Kids love it as well as adults. Great location where you can eat quick in order to catch a show at the Emelin or a movie or to make the train.
First and foremost, this is a pizza place, not a restaurant. 2nd of all, it's very good food and great value for the money. Be aware, it's cash only (there an ATM in the back if you need it).
Classic pizzeria, classic New York slice. Good service, good atmosphere, fair prices
This is the only pizza place that I go to near me. Great slices (especially the Sicilian), wedges, calzones, pies, etc. They have hot dishes too but they're not special. It gets very busy on Fri and Sat nights, so plan ahead. They are CASH ONLY. If you're getting pies and or meals you can order ahead and pick it up but if you just want slices, you have to order when you're there.
Let me tell you, I haven’t had crust like this since I left Queens NY. This pizza is amazing. I enjoyed so much I will be returning. Thank you
It’s the perfect NY style pizza. Thin but crispy crust, perfect amount of cheese and sauce, and not too oily.
The best sicilian, but the round pizza is even better. Good quality. Somewhat thin crust (not the thinnest), good sauce, good cheese. Salad pizza is pretty unique and good. Small note: im not a fan of their buffalo slice.
You only go there for one reason…the pizza. I had the chicken and veggie slice…excellent. Their famed Sicilian is also always good.
I have been going to Sal's for over 10 years and that's my number one spot for pizza
Best Sicilian pizza !!!!!! Especially the corner piece 😋
I love this place. I've been coming here since I've been 16 years old. I no longer live in the area but it's the first place I go when I come home!!! As a matter of fact, I feel like driving there. This evening for dinner.!!
Sal's is in of the best NY style pizza in the metro area... ❤️
I ordered two corner Sicilian slices. My first impression was the tasty crispy crust followed by the gooey cheese and the hardy dense tomato sauce. I was very pleased and plan to try the regular slices in the near future
The original Mamaroneck pizzeria. I've been frequenting this spot since I can remember. If you're lucky, the line is short, but even when that's not the case, they get your order in very quickly. Whenever I find parking on The Ave and have cash on me, I stop in and grab a calzone (deep fried and stuffed with meat) and a slice of their county famous Sicilian slice. Sal (grandchild of the original Sal) always seems genuinely happy to see me and the feeling is mutual. Whenever I'm across the state (sometimes even the country) and I mention I'm from Mamaroneck I'm always prompted with the question "Oh have you ever been to Sal's?" What more can I say that hasn't already been said.
A great joint for a quick bite on the Avenue - admittedly I don’t order my pies from Sal’s, but I’ve had solid experiences on over a dozen slices and counting
Old school hole in the wall with outstanding pizza. Been eating Sal's for over 40 years now. Never had a bad pie. Sicilian and salad slice also worth trying if that's your thing. Cash Only!!!
It’s still some of the best pizza anywhere - and the only spot I will travel an out of my way for. No one makes Sicilian like they do, and while salad pizza was a fad when it came out, Sal’s made it best and still does it right. Their plain slice is also a classic New York style. See why locals are hooked on it for generations.
The pizza is phenomenal very tasty a lot of flavor highly recommend coming here
Great pizza. Spaghetti Alfredo and the special on UBER EATS is nice. Everything is good at Sals Pizza. The cooler with the ice water in it is very nice in the summer. I had my water bottle and filled it up. Very nice to see that. 😊.
Ordered a full Sicilian pepperoni pizza for my family of five following the fireworks on the fourth of July. We ended up taking much of it home, which I'm grateful for because it's one of the best Sicilian pizzas I've had. Reasonable prices (cash only), and even when the line is long, they know how to keep things moving. I've tried other pizza places on Mamaroneck Ave, and Sal's is the clear winner.
First time ordering pizza from here, let alone in New York! Learned my lesson about sizing! Pizzas were huge, salads were huge!
The Sicilian pie, there’s not much Oskar to say. It’s the best in Westchester hands down! And the salad pizza! If you miss out on this, you just don’t know. Comes out heart quick and with a super friendly crew, making it.
I love their Sicilian soooo much. I grew up eating their pizza and miss it so much. Every time I go to NY I get myself a couple slices. So good!!
Great pizza you can tell they make it with love. I personally enjoyed the steak and cheese sub. 10/10
You’s know I love pizza. Sal’s is especially delicious and the wife agrees. I think she especially likes going there because my name is Sal and it feels like our place if ya know what I mean. Pizza is great - top notch - and I know what I’m talkin about.
Best pizza in my area. There are always lines of people either waiting to pick up or order pizza and other Italian foods that they offer.
My family has been eating here for years. We love the pizza, atmosphere, and the ice cream shop attached next door. Salad pizza is unique and delicious. I don’t even live in NY anymore, but I always look forward to eating some delicious Sal’s pizza. I just came back for the holidays. First place I ate pizza at is Sals.
Sitting here in Sal's Pizza in Mamaroneck New York, I felt like I was in New York City hanging out in Little Italy. Real Italian feel and vibe, with authentic looking food to match. The pepperoni pinwheel had the most unique look I've ever seen. Real chunky with all the cheesy and pepperoni goodness stuffed in. The atmosphere alone did it for me. Like I was 10 years old back in Brooklyn getting a slice and soda from the local pizza shop. Food just brought it all together. If I'm in mamaroneck. Then you will find me at Sals pizza.
Great pizzeria vibe and slices coming from Sal's! Buffalo slice was perfectly spicy and had no blue cheese or red sauce what so ever, the way a buffalo slice should be! Sicilian crust had a great crunch, ratio of cheese to sauce on the Sicilian is a cheese lovers dream! All in all a great experience this weekend with the family! Sicilian pie is so big it barely fits in the box!
Everything about Sal’s Pizza is just so good, even though my chicken Parm slice came with cheese that wasn’t fully melted. The fact that they used regular grilled chicken pieces instead of fried chicken cutlets was a pleasant surprise, and the flavor was ridiculously incredible. I didn’t even get a chance to snap a photo before devouring it, lol. Just a heads-up—there’s no Verizon cell service in the back, and I couldn’t figure out the Wi-Fi, so be aware you’re in a dead zone. But despite that, it’s definitely worth five stars. Sal’s is iconic!
Ohhh mannn! I needed a quick slice before going to the movies and this place did not disappoint! Best part of this area is that there are two restaurants across the street from one another that serve pizza. This one looked like I could get a quick slice. I was wrong! I had to wait on line to order two regular slices. My theory is if a pizzeria has a line it must be good! It def was! So good that I burned my top gums also cause I was in a rush. I loved the taste to the slice and the customer service was great. Everyone is on point and they work like a team! I can’t wait to go back there and order different dishes and not rush while eating. Can’t wait to enjoy their slices and pepperoni pinwheels! 🥳
This spot is perfect for a casual night out with family! Food is amazing, and is fairly inexpensive. (Unlike many other restaurants in the area). Owner and the workers were so nice! Highly recomend!

This place has been the best for years. You have to go to the New Haven, CT. area to find anything comparable.Pepe's, Sallys, and Modern are right up there.
Number one in Mamaroneck? Yes, but... Number one in Westchester? Yes, but... Sal's is Number one in AMERICA! I defy you to find better pizza anywhere: Chicago, Boston, Philly, San Francisco. …
I have been a patron of Sal's for many decades. Whenever I am in the area, I stop for slices of Sicilian or a whole pie. I have lived in four states and 20+ towns/cities and have never found anything even remotely comparable to Sal's Sicilian. Over 50 years or so, there has been no slip in quality although i still remember the old days when the pepperoni was thick like quarters with an occasional chunk on the pizza. Virtually all pizza places have given in to paper thIn slices. If i was just rating the sicilian, I would give a 5+ star review. However, the regular pies are fine, as are other menu items, but nothing unique and I personally would only go out of my way, as I do, for the Sicilian. While there are tables in the rear to sit and eat, I think of Sals as takeout. Yes, you can bring your food to a table but that would be more out of necessity than desire. At busy times, things can be very chaotic trying to order or pick up food. There is very little space and the old school style of cash only, no POS system and recording orders on a legal pad might seem quaint to some but it can be frustrating for those picking up food who might experience some grumpy service while crammed in a slender hallway. Sal's has survived and thrived while most of the dining establishments in the village have changed hands over and over and as other pizza places have come and gone. Even at $4 for a slice of Sicilian, that is a bargain for anyone who appreciates the finestSicilian, the size and the cost relative to the area. A Sicilian pie can more than feed my large family of four!
Always bustling with customers, which is a good thing. The service is great but can be slow depending on the dish you order. My sausage and pepper "wedge" took a long time. Good Sicilian and their minced garlic add on to anything is great.
Sal’s Pizza is a great spot in Mamaroneck for a classic slice. The crust is perfectly crispy, the sauce has that homemade taste, and the cheese is just the right amount of gooey. We tried the margherita and a few specialty slices, and they were all solid. The only reason I’m giving four stars instead of five is that the place was super busy when we went, so the wait was a little longer than expected. That said, the staff was friendly, and the pizza was definitely worth it. Me and my wife would definitely come back! Next time, we’ll try to grab a table and enjoy the full experience. Sal’s is definitely a must-try if you’re in the area.
Pizza is always fresh. Garlic knots are so tasty!
Wasn’t impressed with their pizza. It was good, but I definitely had better. Staff were very friendly, place was clean and inviting.
Great pizza. 4 stars because it’s a Cash only establishment. They don’t specify that until after your order is complete.
Updated 2024: I stand by my original review, Sicilian still my favorite! And there is still a line to get it. Original Review 2012: The Pizza is the best around. Sicilian is best I have found in Westchester. Even though I live 30 min away, I make it a point to visit if I am ever near. Unfortunately, the service doesn't match. It's not uncommon for 4 guys behind the counter to not serve anyone till a line builds up.
Best Sicilian pizza I've ever had but extremely expensive, I think it's around 35 bucks for a pie. Insane. Staff is always polite and fun. Classic pizza joint. Clean too.
Sal’s is a Westchester institution in its 60th year of serving great pizza. It specializes in “New York” style ultra-thin crust with a blend of cheeses and spices. It’s the same slice you’ll get from some of New York City’s best slice joints. The slices are extremely thin (delicious – but thin) so double whatever your normal slice order is. Servers are friendly and ambience is. . . well, it’s a pizza joint.
I had a regular topping slice. Was $4.75. I picked the tomato, chicken, broccoli. I think it was good, but the slice was under sized. Way smaller than I expected. And smaller than I got when I last visited a couple years ago. I'm used to slices where they're so big they need a fold to eat properly. Quality was there. May try the Sicilian next go. Cash only!
Love this place. When you want a Sicilian slice, make Sal’s your go-to. Salad slices are usually available but if not, have a little patience and wait for the next pie to come out. You won’t be disappointed. I tried the pepperoni pin wheels, also amazing. Visit Sal’s and enjoy great pizza. Note this place is cash only.

I know that Sal's get great reviews but I found the pizza to be competent but not extraordinary. I prefer a thinner, crisper crust. Everyone there is friendly and helpful. The line can be long, but if the pizza is ordered in advance, it is ready by the time you get there. The room is 1960's Formica, never modernized. Parking can be difficult at times.
Ordered Calzon and Sicilian slices. The sauce was not great. The cheese did not taste fresh and was not warm enough. Unfortunately , I will not be going back.
I got grilled chicken salad.big bowl but only lettuce and tomato for 16 dollars I was expecting cucumbers or onions.big portion of chicken tasted good but wish there were olives or something
The pizza is delicious. It would receive 5 stars for that. Ordering is hectic and cash only. The hectic nature of the restaurant had our order forgotten even after we checked in twice. One of the service staff made a light joke about our size (we are tall and larger people) while trying to suggest seating. Overall, would still recommend for those more extraverted and ready for a somewhat overwhelming experience.
The large plain cheese pizza we ordered was mediocre at best (the heavily loaded slices at the counter mighy have been a better option). They do not take credit cards. The dining room was loud and cafeteria-like.
Food is ok but they only take cash. I had to leave and find a bank to withdraw cash before paying. This is 2025 and still this business located in an upscale neighborhood wouldn’t accept debit or credit card. I believe they just want to evade taxes reason why they do not accept credit cards.

Can’t comment on the service or atmosphere because we did take out. The Sicilian was not worth the hype … at all ! I’m actually really disappointed and don’t understand how this won best pizza. The pie lacked sauce and salt. The dough was fine but there was just nothing special about it at all. I didn’t take a bite and say “wow this is good pizza !!!” And that’s what I was expecting to do. Save your money, go someplace else.
I'm not getting all the buzz about this place. There were five guys behind the counter in the place wasn't busy. We ordered 4 Sicilian 2 regular slices. Somehow all the pieces were burnt except for two. We told the guy behind the counter and he said that's the way they do it. I'm sorry but the bottom of the pizza should not be black
I can't imagine why this place is so popular and supposedly iconic. Pizza is ordinary. Heavy on the cheese. You can sit in booths and a few tables in the back, where it's dark and not particularly clean. They are efficient; the service is fast. Low-cost, casual food options on Mamaroneck Avenue aren't great, and Sal's is slightly below that low bar.
Original review (2019)->The salad pizza is good. Others are basically normal. Also, one day while we were eating our pizza, we had a major water leak from the ceiling on our food and clothes. Even though the employees in there saw it, they did not really take care of us. Update (8/17/24): Stop overheating and burning the pizza! (Check the picture!) Also, they touch money, they touch your pizza.
Veggie pizza was so good.! So much veg on it👍.... The pepper and egg hero not so much.! Egg was over cooked and like a crepe. , not fluffy and light as it should be. Peppers were just put on top of the "crepe ". Not cooked together as one. Bread🥖 was not real Italian. Tasted like Price Right bread in the big bag. You know, the cheap stuff.! And it was a very skinny sandwich.! And just as an added touch it wasn't even cut in half. I had to rip it. I normally wouldn't even mention that but on top of it all... Just an added touch, or not.! 🙄☹️
Cash only, greasy, not good. Way too expensive for a plain cheese pizza.
Their regular slices are now awful. They are very small in size and barely have sauce and cheese on it. For regular slices, I now go to Terranova pizza in New Rochelle on Pelham rd. The Sicilian slices at Sal’s pizza are still great but their regular slices are awful. Never order any food from the back. Everything is awful. The worst chicken cutlets, meatballs I have ever tasted in my life. On their pasta dinners, they use pizza sauce.
Ordered calzone, garlic bread and lasagna. Garlic bread was pretty good. Calzone small, expensive and barely there. The lasagna was horrible. Tasted like flat 3 day old sour cheese. My wife got sick from it while still at Sal’s. Sick for 3 days after. If you go to Sal’s, have the canned soda. It’s fresh not like the expensive food. The place is dangerous. The staff nasty, service slow. We ordered a soda at the table and had to pay cash on the spot for it during dinner (if you could call this garbage dinner) the worst dining experience since skinning my own food while hunting when I was 16 (that was over 50 years ago) it should have given us a clue when we walked in thirsty and I asked for a soda at the counter and had to pay for it then and there because they wouldn’t or couldn’t add it to our future dinner bill in the seating area. But when paying for dinner at the end someone who seemed like management yelled to the cashier “he as 2 sodas”. I yelled back “I paid cash for the first on when I got here” (of course I paid cash for it, they don’t take cards or any other forms of payment)
It’s unfortunate to leave this rating because the food truly is delicious. However, the way the situation was handled was completely unethical. I placed an order through Uber Eats during a promotion—buy one pasta, get one free—but was still charged the full amount. When I called the restaurant to resolve the issue, they refused to offer a refund. It’s disappointing to see such poor business ethics despite the quality of the food. As someone who has worked in hospitality for over 20 years, including at some of the most renowned restaurants in NYC, I find this level of service and lack of accountability incredibly disappointing. Great food should be matched with equally strong business ethics. Check your receipts!!!
I’m so disappointed!!!! I have order from this place multiple times and had nothing but good experience but today I ordered and it was a complete disappointment right from the moment I opened the box, the slices are 2 times smaller than what they supposed to be $6 for a slice of pizza that can only maybe feed a 2 year old. Will be taking my business elsewhere. Also I ordered a chicken bacon ranch and the slice has peppers in it.
