this is one of the best bars i’ve ever been to. the vibes are immaculate, the people and staff are stellar (especially Katy, she provides the BEST service), and the drinks are strong. if you’re in manhattan beach, definitely check this place out.

I went there Thanksgiving night. The staff were in a good mood, the atmosphere was great. The tall punk-rocker waitress was great. Very friendly, very attentive. Thank you for the great hospitality.

The salads are fresh and the french fries are exceptional. When this place turns into a karaoke production, there is MUCH fun to be had!

Went several months ago & still remember how amazing the fish was!

Went with a friend on a Friday night and there was a live band. Well a woman and a guy and THEY WERE AWESOME..they engaged with the crowd although it wasnt busy at all, I like intimate spaces. Drinks were stiff,energy was great, and waiter was very helpful. Although they stopped serving food at a certain time and I really wanted to try their calamari I cant complain at all. I'd definately go again

This was a really cool tavern! The ambiance was great, the employees were really cool (they had to work short-handed due to another private party upstairs). And the food was terrific! We were just walking the area (love Manhattan Beach Pier) and decided to hit this spot up for a drink. Ended up eating Buffalo wings and fish-n-chips with our drinks. Will be returning and this is a definite thumbs up! Recommended.

Pre St Patrick's Day visit! Great prices, especially v's other nearby restaurants. Really nice service which was very efficient. I started eating my dish before taking a pic! This was a steak and shrimp dish (originally 3 or 4 shrimp) which was delish.

Our server Katie was awesome and the food hit just right. The place itself has a nice atmosphere. The prices ranged between $16 - $26 per person at our table. Highly recommend the fish taco plate, the beans were seasoned perfectly and the fish was tasty and fluffy.

I came back after a long time just for the Pie. Highly recommended, portions are good and tasty!

My husband and I came here 4th of July weekend for a date without our kids. We were from Indiana and staying at an Air Bnb nearby. We passed this bar earlier in the day and wanted to try it. We were greeted at the host podium by a beautiful woman with sick rocker/emo makeup and attire. Her vibes and whole esthetic was killinnnnnnn. And she immediately complemented me on my dress! (Which I had felt self-conscious about, but her complement gave me confidence). Her California hospitality was raw and she was great at her job. We sat and the waitress was also very attentive and friendly. The drinks were PRIME and my Ruben sammich was traditional Irish and they even offer sausage rolls as an appetizer too. Our visit was quick, but efficient and pleasant. The women really gave this place a good name. Represent. ❤️ Im trying to convince my husband to take us here next year. I hope these ladies are still killing it. One of our best dates ever. Place was open to the street, fresh food, and chill vibes. Relaxing and social environment.

Great little sort of beach dive bar in the area. They usually have live music after 9 or 10 on the weekends. The drinks are strong, the service is usually decent, and the food is okay. My only complaint is that the drink prices are insanely high for the type of establishment it is. Expect to spend sporting event prices on beers and drinks. The exception would be some of their specialty drinks and their very good happy hour.

Sat outside in the sun - great place to watch the world go by. Some decent wings and happy hour is always appreciated. Guinness was good and the service was friendly and fast. It’s the location that makes this work though, especially when it’s sunny and warm!

The outdoor patio is spacious and great for people-watching—we sat at a high table and took in the view of people walking their dogs, heading to the beach, or grabbing coffee. It’s in such a prime spot, and the vibe was easygoing and welcoming. The service was lovely—our server was friendly, helpful, and happy to accommodate my request to modify the avocado toast (removing bacon and egg). The toast came with potatoes and worked for a light bite, though I would’ve loved a bit more seasoning. My husband had the spinach omelet with coffee, and I got a fresh-squeezed half-orange, half-grapefruit juice that was refreshing. They also host live music in the weekend and Monday night trivia, which I imagine brings a fun crowd in the evenings. It seems like a true local favorite. We found parking easily across the street since it was early. If you’re in the area, it’s a nice stop to sit back, enjoy the scene, and take in the downtown energy.

We ordered fish and chips and chicken pesto sandwich for 2 of us. Both of us did not like the food. There was no taste or seasoning. The service was good. Not sure if tartar sauce is served by default or not but I had to ask for tartar sauce for my fish and chips. Overall a thumbs down☹️

Ordered the Reuben and Cobb salad. The salad was massive and good, the Reuben not so much. The meat was dry and left much to be desired. Our waitress went in break halfway through our meal and other waitress who was supposed to watch her tables stopped by 1 time. Wasn't sure where to eat, but decided to stop by and check the menu. The lady in the bar was very welcoming. Wanted an IPA beer, she offered a sample to taste the different IPAs they had. (3 types) I asked for the menu and decided to take a seat. Ordered the Smoked bbq brisket sandwich, which was even highlighted in yellow. Got sweet potato fries with that. Good beer btw. Food came shortly after. Finished the fries in a blink of an eye, was so hungry. Good fries. Then started the sandwich (burger). Immediately I saw there was something off, but was so hungry I decided to continue. After going through half the burger I got annoyed and put it aside. The fried onions were probably fried 1 week ago. It was kind of "tough" the whole sandwich (burger). I'm not the one to return food, but I did this time. Waitress asked if all was ok, if I wanted a bag. I told her to trash the burger and asked for the menu again. (Strangely she didn't ask why) Still hungry, and place looked nice, so wanted to give it a second chance. This time, I ordered a pretzel burger, well done. It came with regular fries. Day and night difference on this meal vs the previous. Just wanted to give it a try on the burger, didn't eat the fries. Burger ok. However, still not anything I'd ever order again. Staff: Great, very friendly. Location: Place was almost empty (1700 on a Wednesday), but had a good vibe to it. Nice music. Food: Well, I don't want to be picky, and most of the time I eat what is served. I see what is expected from me in my job, and then when I see this, I get annoyed. How can food be served to a customer in such a bad quality? The first burger was utterly garbage. Second burger ok. However, for me to write a review, that takes extra effort. Beer was good, staff was great, but food.... What you "produce" yourself was very bad. So basically, I can take my money somewhere else. *The beer was not in-house brew. *The staff are friendly other places too. *Ambiance is good other places too. Why should I come back?? If I would come back, and that's a big if, that would definitely not be because of the food. Total bill came to 63usd.

It was great back in the day. Over the last 20 years it has declined. Today, I ordered the Benedict. It was a slab of fat with a small portion of actual ham meat. I don't understand how any chef could consider serving that. Muffin was barely toasted and the entire dish was cold.

I NEVER do this. Most establishments have another entree to make up for a bad review with me. The drinks were great! Server wonderful. I ordered the Lads steak and shrimp MR. Most people know medium rare still has the juice and some tenderness regardless of cut of steak! WRONG. Steak was extremely tough. Knife given couldn’t even cut a clean cut. The mashed potatoes and spinach it was served on was good. Anyway I ate the potatoes and spinach then requested an order of calamari. (Redeeming dish I thought) Before it was brought out, manager came out advising he couldn’t keep throwing away food. For ONE I NEVER ASKED FOR IT TO BE TAKEN OFF, told him it was ok but steak was extremely tough. Calamari came out and well let’s just say…I’ll be sticking to just the Blackberry margarita.

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. As local residents, my husband and I have been coming to Hennessey's Manhattan Beach for years. Before the pandemic, this place was great and had regular staff that were pleasant, cared for their customers, and seemed to enjoy their job. During and after the pandemic, this place has had constant turnover of bad staff. I understand the owners can't help turnover, but pay attention to who you hire to represent your business. The bartenders, waitresses, and manager at this location are terribly rude and disrespectful people. To the owners, it's time to clean house and get new management and staff. We won't be back, but for your own sake - get new management.

What is going on in this world? I mean, you go to a beautiful spot and you get horrible service. The waitress with the scar on top of her head was incredibly rude. I kept it all together, but I gave her a zero tip because you can't be such an angry person working with the public. The burger was okay. The fries were kind of soggy.
