This place is a hidden gem! The atmosphere is modern, open, and really inviting—perfect for hanging out with friends, working on a laptop, or just relaxing with a good drink. The seating is spacious and comfortable, and the plants and lighting give it a fresh, stylish vibe. The menu is impressive—everything from classic coffees to unique signature drinks with flavors like pistachio, black sesame, and Mexican mocha. I tried one of their signature lattes and it was excellent—balanced, smooth, and not overly sweet. They also offer matcha drinks and creative blends like the “Tokyo Trip” and “Matcha Colada,” which really set them apart. Service is quick and friendly, and I really appreciate the variety of milk alternatives and house-made organic syrups. On top of that, they have a great selection of bottled drinks and snacks if you want something quick to grab. Definitely one of the coolest coffee shop setups I’ve seen, with a mix of style and comfort. Highly recommend stopping by—you won’t be disappointed!
I visited Common Space in McAllen, and from the moment I walked in, I was acknowledged right away. The barista stands right in front of the entrance, which I really liked because you don’t feel ignored when you walk in. The tone was friendly and welcoming, and there was little to no wait time before ordering. The coffee shop has a very chill, homey vibe that feels nothing like Starbucks. It feels more relaxed and comfortable, and the way the space is designed makes it feel warm and inviting. The layout is easy to move around, and everything looked clean and well kept. The service was honestly a 10/10. The barista was kind, professional, and helpful. I ordered a latte, but they didn’t have sugar-free vanilla syrup, so I decided to get it plain. After taking a sip, I realized I didn’t like it (which was my fault). I apologized and asked if I could pay to add vanilla syrup. The barista kindly told me it was okay and added the syrup without any hesitation or attitude. I really appreciated that because I’ve been to other coffee shops where staff can be rude in situations like that. After the syrup was added, the latte tasted much better and met my expectations. The checkout process was easy, communication was clear, and leaving the coffee shop was smooth. Overall, the experience felt welcoming and positive from start to finish.
An absolute experience!!! Lessly was so welcoming. My friends and I met up for book club. Food and drinks options were wide and everything was so delicious. Highly recommend and will be returning 👌🏼 🙌🏽 ✨️
Commonspace in McAllen, Texas is one of the best spots in the Valley for coffee, brunch, and drinks! The vibe is super inviting — perfect for hanging out with friends, getting some work done, or enjoying one of their many local events. Their coffee is always fresh and flavorful, the brunch menu has so many great options, and the cocktails and drinks are top-notch. What really sets Commonspace apart is how it brings people together — it’s not just a coffee shop, it’s a community space. Whether you’re looking for a cozy brunch spot, an event venue, or a place to unwind with great drinks in McAllen, Commonspace is the place to be. Highly recommend checking it out! ☕🥂✨
Absolutely love this spot! The drinks are top tier—every drink I've tried has been expertly made. Their food is just as impressive, with a brunch menu that’s nothing short of stupendous. The environment is cool and welcoming, with great music that adds to the chill vibe. What really stood out was the kindness of the chef, who personally came to check on us to make sure we were enjoying everything. You can tell they truly care about the experience. This place is a gem!
im originally from houston who happens to come visit family in the valley 2-3 times a year and it never fails, ITS A MUST stop to get a piloncillo iced latte with oatmilk sooo creamy and not too sweet but also not too bitter its perfect honestly its some of the best coffee ive had compared to houston spots , will continue to be back time and time again :)
COMMONSPACE is a chill coffee shop with a cool vibe. Their coffee is good with some interesting takes on flavors, the staff is super friendly, and the brunch options are also fun and tasty. It would be a great place to relax, work, or meet up with friends. I would recommend it to anyone!
Such a chill, cool little place. The food is BOMB. I had the banana pancakes which were SOFT AND FLUFFY. Not too sweet and I ordered eggs on the side which were cooked to perfection. My bf got the mole waffle, which he absolutely ate up. He said they’re not like anything he’s had before, authentic and delicious. He felt truly at home, the chef was so cute and friendly. It really gives a welcoming and caring vibe.
10/10 the vibes were great the pistachio latte top tier all of the syrups are made in house. Our barista was a joy 🤩 10s across the board
Amazing staff hands down one of the best cafes I’ve been to the food, drinks are also not too pricey!!
Went for the first time and loved it! I tried the piloncillo coffee and matcha waffles - both were delicious. Excited to try all the other options on the menu, especially the coffees. The atmosphere was also really nice, quiet, and comfortable!
The service was outstanding, creating a warm, cool and inviting atmosphere. The food quality was equally impressive, offering a delightful blend of flavors. Whether you're a coffee enthusiast or seeking delicious food options, CommonSpace is a gem. We had the empalmes (off menu item) and The Spanish. Highly recommend for a truly enjoyable experience!

Just had the best coffee I’ve ever had in my life… the hazelnut coffee was truly heavenly with each sip engulfed in natural notes of nuttiness and delicate sweetness and a little surprise of the hazelnut brûlée that truly makes this drink exceptional….I was recommended to try this coffee out and honestly I was hesitant because my experience with hazelnut had always been not my favorite because of the artificial flavor but Commonspace made me completely change my mind and I now have a new favorite coffee!!! Also the vibe is so esthetic and truly a refreshing place to hangout for an afternoon pick me up or light meal. Beyond the drinks, the vibe is so aesthetic and refreshing compared to what’s available in the valley… this coffee shop is perfect for an afternoon pick-me-up or a light meal. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the owner is genuinely so kind and welcoming, which makes the experience even more special. You can truly feel the love and positive energy that this cute local business puts into everything they do.
I absolutely love this place! Have been coming here every Sunday since the beginning of October in hopes of becoming a regular and i can say my dreams have come true. Wonderful staff, amazing coffee and great vibes! Cannot stress enough how great this place is! They have all my love! They also have spacious tables for any of your crafty needs! come join ladies!!!
Atmosphere like no other in the entire valley! Brilliant spot to hangout at, and the coffee is immaculate, food is delicious, and matcha unmatched! If you looking for a coffee spot to make your new chill spot, you’ve found it here!
My plain latte was good and they have a nice little selection of board games, books, magazines, etc. They also have ambient lighting and gender neutral bathrooms. Cool place.

Best coffee shop in McAllen and it's not close. I feel like I'm in Austin, San Francisco, or LA when I'm here! They really care about quality and are so innovative with their drinks. Service is great and super friendly as well!
Commonspace was great! Girlfriend has very high standards for coffee, she was very satisfied with the taste and quality. Same goes for the ceremonial grade matcha. Food was very good too. Vibe/decor really ties the experience together. Will visit again when we’re back in the 956.
I love going to this place with friends their drinks and food are pretty good but pricey, they have a nice seating area with games and tables that are good for medium to large groups. There is an outside seating area and a stage indoors. They have cute books you can read. They have non alcoholic as well as alcoholic drinks, and sandwiches.
Great Coffee, but Cocktails Miss the Mark This coffeeshop-bar is a visually charming spot — the decor is lovely and it has a nice vibe overall. The coffee I had was genuinely good, well-made and flavorful, so it’s definitely a place I’d recommend for a caffeine fix. However, I also ordered a cocktail, and unfortunately, it was a letdown. The concept sounded interesting, but the execution just wasn’t there. The drink lacked flavor and felt carelessly made, almost like an afterthought. It didn’t live up to its potential, which was disappointing. Service was average — not bad, but nothing memorable either. I’d come back for the coffee, but I’d probably skip the cocktails next time.

I went yesterday with my friend around 8 PM. I asked the lady at the cashier if they were still selling food, and she told me the kitchen was closed they closed at 4 PM. So I was fine with that and ordered an iced coffee, which was great. ✅ But about 40 minutes later, I saw a staff member handing several food orders to a table. That made me wonder why I didn’t get the chance to order food. The worst part was that I had just arrived from Houston, hungry, and my friend had recommended that place. Other than that, I liked the location, the vibes, and the fact that they were showing a movie on the projector. But I really don’t know what happened with me and the food service.

Overall, I was pretty underwhelmed with commonspace. Recently moved to McAllen/edinburg and was excited to try a local spot so close to my home. Unfortunately the service was a bit off putting, not very welcoming and when I mentioned it was our first time, there was no engagement or help navigating the menu. We order two matches. One with the Mexican brownsugar and I tried the matcha colada which has pinapple juice and coconut added to the matcha. Seemed interesting. Both drinks were completely overpowered by the added flavors leaving no room to taste the matcha. Mine was pure pinapple juice and could only find hints of coconut from the shavings. No matcha taste. Same goes for the matcha lattee my fiancée ordered. Just overpowered by the cinnamon and needs to be adjusted better to balance the flavor more. Upcharged for the flavors, up charged for the milk alternatives. So pricy for two drinks. Almost $20. Sorry to say, won’t be coming back, which is unfortunate because the atmosphere was actually quite nice with a lot of space and soft lighting.
Despite the shop’s cool aesthetic, the actual coffee experience is inconsistent and the management is unprofessional. It’s hard to justify the high price point (nearly $9 for a sweetened latte before tip) for such a gamble in taste with baristas who clearly aren’t adjusting or tasting their espresso, especially with many much more passionate cafes nearby. Furthermore, the owner’s reputation for berating employees and appearing intoxicated at events is something I’ve witnessed firsthand. As a former regular, even despite the lacking coffee, I cannot continue to support a business owner who lacks respect for the craft and his employees. The business clearly relies on its looks rather than quality or integrity. Do yourself a favor and visit any of the nearby competitors for a much better experience at a much better price.
The baristas were nice, but the venue was extremely cold inside. Coffee was ok, but there was no pastries to go with the coffee, only a stale cinammon role that was warmed twice in the microwave because they forgot about it after we ordered it.

When we arrived they told us they only had a couple of choices because they were serving some other location. The cook Marisela was really nice but the barista was really rude. We all thought about leaving just because of her attitude. I don’t understand how you hire la person that doesn’t like to serve. The food was good but we are definitely not going back. The barista is so rude and unwelcoming. We have so many options why would we go back to get treated that way.
