Great tacos, salsa, and ingredients were fresh. The carnitas and chicken was flavorful and not dry and the corn tortillas were very yummy. We ride bikes up through box canyon so this will be a great place for a post bike ride!

This place is amazing. The waitress was super nice and patient. We were a group of ten and food came quick and everyone was so happy, burrito, chips and guacamole, and the quesadilla was the highlight. Definitely come here.

The best Mexican food I have had in over a decade, maybe ever. Horchata from SCRATCH, no machine. Tortillas HOMEMADE, salsa from scratch. (And delicious!!!) good chips on the house! Yes, get the plates! Try something new! The bistec el ranchero was finger-licking good, I dipped tortilla in my friends sauce and could taste the beef it was cooked in. To die for. I got the shrimp in garlic (camerones al mojo de ajo) and WOW. Another great thing to eat with tortilla. It tastes like someone’s abuelas kitchen in this restaurant. Finally the stuffed pepper Gordita was amazing and full of veggies sticking out. This place is an absolute treasure. Almost forgot the flan is a recipe that I’ve never encountered anywhere, it’s got a creamy almost cheesecake like texture with no gelatin type texture that you find most places. It’s made fresh by Maria, she should enter a contest with it. All of this food, three drinks and two orders of tortillas was only about $40-45 Gracias por darme una de las mejores cenas de mi vida, Maria y equipo! Me la voy a recordar eternamente! Un abrazo fuerte!

A hidden treasure when visiting the Salton Sea area. We stopped in for lunch and were treated to wonderful family style cooking. The restaurant was clean and everything was hand made, down to the fresh corn tortillas. I had the pork ribs with red sauce and it is the best thing I've eaten in months. The menu is in Spanish, but Google translate was all we needed. I highly recommend The Plaza.

This is the real Mecca! A friend and I stopped here while passing through and I wish I could give it more stars. Go here immediately! The waitress was wonderful and attentive. The tacos are incredible with homemade corn tortillas. All the meat was delicious. We got rice and beans, which we almost licked the plate.

First time here, one order of enchiladas and one machaca. Horchata wasn't ready but what a great surprise that they had "cafe de la holla" instead of regular coffee. If you're not familiar with it, do yourself a favor and try it. The corn tortillas are made on the spot and are great. The food was tasty and served hot. The waitress was friendly and courteous. Parking is ample and the whole place was squeaky clean. Definitely merits a return visit.

We came here after searching for authentic Mexican restaurants that were on the way to Joshua Tree from an excursion in Thermal, CA. After scrolling the reviews we knew we had to stop! To say the food was delicious would be a serious understatement! It was EXACTLY what we were hoping for and more! The Pastor and the Beans were hands down the best I’ve ever had and we’re some of the lucky ones that get opportunities to eat authentic Mexican cuisine quite often! This is a must try!!

We were thrilled to find The Plaza restaurant, which has a diverse surf and turf menu of popular Mexican dishes. We were greeted when we came in and had fast, efficient, and friendly table service. There’s plenty of indoor restaurant-style seating with a few booths. My buddy opted for the tacos - cabeza, asada, al pastor, and carnitas, and noted that the al pastor was some of the best he’s had. While I found many options on the menu, I couldn’t pass up the lengua plate since it’s a rare that I can find it plated, even at shops that serve lengua tacos. Everything was delicious and perfectly seasoned, right down to the handmade corn tortillas which have a superior flavor and texture as compared to mass-produced tortillas. The house salsas were excellent - a chili-based picante salsa roja, and a mild tomatillo salsa verde which was delicious with a flavor of fresh garlic. They had the typical bottled beers you’d expect (Modelo, Pacifico, Corona, Ultra) as well as bottled Coca Cola. We will definitely be back the next time we visit the area. This is a working-class town that supports the local agricultural industries, and the prices at The Plaza Restaurant are very affordable.

Beware gringos. They tried to charge us for double the main dish tacos...not just one of our orders but both. I called her out and she was like no. That's it. And then I said louder, you charged us for double orders! And then she noticed.....really felt like mexico....taking advantage of gringos and all! Edit for owner: to complete the review, this absolutely happened. My friend watched the young man behind me (who obviously worked there) snickering as she did this. I was just as offended having my order like 30 dollars more than it was supposed to be ..

I bought a torta with the bread all burnt and only had a 3 tiny pieces of meat and I order a side of fries with only seven pieces of fries I think we pay an amount of fee were they can at least give us an appropriate amount of fries in the order and also the torta. I was really upset when I got home with my order called the place and they still didn’t wanted to give me the name to report the waitress that was rude too and with a bad attitude:(.

I like the food but I don't like the service and dishonesty. And isn't it supposed to be cheaper if it's on the today's special. Instead she up the price...
