Really friendly and accommodating welcome. Maahira and Megan were excellent at what they were doing. They made sure we were settled, even had wonderful conversations with us and let us enjoy the afternoon tea experience which was explained. Both went way and beyond and an asset to Fred's Brasserie.
Fabulous food. ALL HALAL. Amazing service. Delicious food. We stayed at the hotel and dined here for breakfast and dinner. We also attended the wedding venue owned by this hotel (the MyLahore marquee). No idea why the reviews are so low but we had a great time dining here. No reservations needed. They were all so kind and chatty. No need to go to town when you’ve got this magnificent restaurant! Definitely recommended!!
Great food, courteous and polite staff. Beautiful settings
Had a 3 course meal this evening, all courses and service were excellent. In the past the service has been a bit slow although food was always excellent, today was perfect 👌🏼
I normally wouldn’t do this but I’ve read some negative reviews,I thought our food was brilliant and really enjoyed our time in there .
I booked a meal at Mr Fred's for my birthday and can honestly say that our food was exceptional. I have eaten in many 5* restaurants all around the world, but the food at this restaurant beats them all. Their chefs deserve awards! I also give credit to the staff working in the restaurant on the evening of Monday, 20th July as they were equally outstanding in their service. I recommend this place to anyone wanting top quality food and top service. It is an amazing and truly stunning hotel and restaurant! ❤️❤️
Beautiful food Visited Friday 18th for my partner’s birthday. we were served by Tom and Freya who were amazing. Wonderful service , they were both very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious
Food was delicious, well prepared. Enjoyed the Lamb rack and rib eye steak. Polite and courteous staff. Wait times minimal. Beautiful views. Overall great experience
My mother and I came for spa day and lunch. Rodrigo couldn’t do enough for us, he was so lovely! We had hummus for starter, then chicken and a wellness bowl for main course. Good portion size and delicious food.
Pretty restaurant in beautiful surroundings. My partner is lactose intolerant and our waitress and chef took great care going through our meals, ingredients with everything being well communicated. Portion sizes were very generous and we couldn't fit a dessert in. The produce quality was impeccable and presentation was a delight. Great taste and service. We will visit again
Dined here as part of a spa package. Cannot believe the low score rating it has on here. The package was great value and the food was really, really good! Creative menu and all well cooked and nicely served. Top service as well. Hopefully people will check out recent reviews. We'll definitely be back
Absolute life savers!!! Went to a wedding locally that unfortunately had to finish early due to bad weather and the team here stepped up massively. Huge thanks to Lisa, Adam and Vic who saved the day at such short notice and enabled the celebrations to continue untill the early hours, fantastic service in a great setting, we were staying at the hotel and facilities where top notch, anyone looking for a great stay with great food should definitely stay here!
Booked at Fred’s Brasserie for my mum’s birthday, for afternoon tea. Rodrigo was lovely and very attentive, great asset to the restaurant!! Great afternoon tea, good selection of sandwiches and sweet things, free glass of Prosecco too! Service was fast and atmosphere was lovely and calm. Will definitely be back.
After initially having reservations on Fred's Brasserie due to recent reviews, I spoke to Rodrigo saying that I wanted to eat there but was a little put off by the recent negative reviews left. He was understanding and along with his colleague Maahira made every effort to make the meal as enjoyable as possible. Both were very attentive, checking that everything was okay with the food and had great customer service. The food was great, I had the asparagus and poached egg as a starter followed by the lamb for main. Each course was flavorful and well cooked. The food arrived in a good time frame. A great experience, I am writing this review because both members of staff were awesome and based on my experience tonight, the previous reviews are an unfair depiction of the restaurant. It's true what they say, people will leave a bad review after a negative experience, but very few leave reviews to reflect the positive. Thanks again guys!
Hotel is excellent but restaurant service slow, 45 minutes from sitting down to starters on table, food very good, BUT unforgivable they had run out of Sauvignon Blanc in full bottles
Really disappointed. We have eaten at Mr Fred's a few times and today we were really disappointed. The waitress came and took our order hadn't a clue if the soup was spicy so had to go and ask. We gave our order and waited an hour after our order was taken we were told that their was problems in the kitchen with the gas rings only two were working. Another 15 minutes went by and we received our food soup bland and Luke warm two ceaser salads that looked like it had been thrown on the plate and over powered with the sause. Surely if they knew they were having problems before we ordered they should have told us. We did get free deserts but my point is service was slow and food bland. This should have been addressed straight away not leaving us an hour and 15 minutes waiting for bland Luke warm food to arrive. We certainly won't be returning anytime soon which is a pity as previous visits everything was ok.
Somewhat underwhelmed by the lunch experience. The service was slow and erratic. I had dined here a few years ago and enjoyed the meal. We were a party of four and the overall consensus was ok
Visited Wednesday last week....changed out of all recognition, since 2years ago. Waitress had no idea where to place our champagne glasses after offering us glasses of cheap Prosecco!! Soup could have been tinned tomato !! Then a dire tiny fish pie ,sloppy mash 5 small pieces of salmon and 3 slices of white fish skin and joy of joys raw long stemmed broccoli. Complaint made in all sincerity as the staff need training and in return two free coffees and £3 off the broccoli !! This used to be a nice place to eat for a friend's reunion from different countries...but never again.
Food was good, service is appauling!! Had reservations, yet the waiters just did not want to serve us, I had to ask 5 different people before we were seated. Then the waiters just decided to ignore us and "forget" to take our order. Highly disappointed given Stanley House is meant to be a nice place.
Very disappointing meal. I ordered the pizza and it honestly looked and tasted like a frozen supermarket pizza with some extra cheese grated on top. Cheese was hard and crusted as it had been in the oven too long. The dessert was yummy, but I could have got a cheaper and tastier pizza at Lidl. Our waiter was very helpful and friendly.
Dined at Fred’s Brasserie as part of a spa package. Arrived in the restaurant at 13:40. Main didn’t arrive until 14:40. Couple next to us received mains and dessert before our dessert has even arrived. It’s currently 15:20 and the wait goes on…. A real shame as the chicken risotto was lovely, but the speed of service is abysmal…
Starters ok although I wanted scallops and wasn’t available and looking forward to it ! This should of been pointed out before we ordered.
I’m coeliac, therefore requested a gluten free roast weeks ahead of booking. Confirmed on the day that this would be gluten free. I was extremely poorly for hours after. Coeliac’s, be mindful. Gorgeous restaurant. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I personally wouldn’t eat here again but my friend who ordered from the usual menu enjoyed her roast.
Never again would I go here. Since the new owners took over it’s an embarrassment. This shockingly small afternoon tea was to feed 3…. And cost £60! Eaton mess was just a bowl of cream with a piece of strawberry and merengue on top, the scone was like a brick and fit in the palm of my child sized hand, only 2 jams between 3 of us and 1 cream. Bread was stale on the sandwiches too with warm fillings as were absolutely not fresh. The service was quite possibly the worst I’ve ever experienced with the “manager” looking down his nose and smirking at us after we complained. So why did we complain - arrived 2.50pm for a 3pm booking - got food at 4.30pm - Management rude and lie (rodriguo and vic were both absolutely disgusting in how they treated us) - vic even went as far as admitting all staff were talking about us ….. that’s rude considering they forgot to seat us, then forgot what we had pre ordered, didn’t give us cutlery, didn’t offer us tea, coffee or even water …. We had to ask!!!!!!! £60 for minuscule low quality food and we had to ask for a glass of water! - they forgot our spoons and even though they can see how tiny the food is, we asked for spoons as they forgot them, we were give massive dessert spoons What I would add is that the lovely young girl on hotel reception tried to resolve the situation after seeing how horrified we were, it wasn’t her area but she used common sense in customer service and to her I’d like to say thanks. The rest of the staff were useless and seeing how managers treat customers, it’s really no wonder they were so bad Having known many previous staff members from the restaurant and kitchen, the quality is not what it once was but the premium price remains. The best we got as a resolution from the managers after we informed them this had ruined my birthday was an email address. They don’t even offer a drink to compensate us. We again had to suggest this as the manager actually said “it’s not my problem” Avoid this place at all costs. You’ll get more food and better service in subway.
So... Where to start. I'm pretty regular - staying at the hotel for 2/3 nights a week, and I'm sad to give poor review - but be assured, it's as objective as I possibly could and it's based on long term observation (2-3 months). Quality of food deteriorated dramatically in last few weeks. I suspect chef's on long term holiday or left.. Menu stayed the same, but the way the main meal is prepared... Several times served cold (and I mean stone cold), steak regualry overcooked, side dishes not seasoned and served cold...on several occasions.. And list goes on and one... Plus: Charging premium posh hotel prices and you're getting substandard food. I feel sorry for a staff... All young people with minimum experiences in industry try their best. Hardly keeping up with standard you'd expect from expensive hotel. Atmosphere - if you're lucky and get there through car blocking only entry road because of nearby wedding venues, is pretty good. Overall 3/10 (August 2023), not reccomend.
Some of the worst food I've ever eaten. Service was woeful. Let's start with breakfast in bed. Luke warm full English with catering grade ingredients. A thin layer of baked beans with about 10 beans in the sauce, no condiments,no salt and pepper.'Freshly chopped fruit' that looked like it had come from yesterdays buffet all mushy and watery, with dry pastries to make the experience even worst. If you're staying here for the weekend go into Clitheroe (Toms Table) or the surrounding area for food, it's absolutely horrendous in any part of the hotel. For lunch we had the sticky chicken skewers which were more like boiled bits of rubber. No flavour, no seasoning, nothing sticky about them. Pesto chicken wraps for main consisting of two tiny pieces of flat bread with what looked like pesto mayo coated cat food inside.I had to send out a search party to find the bits of dry chicken. Completely let the whole spa weekend down. Saturday night we ended up going to Blackburn for a curry because we didn't want to eat in there again. Curry was fabulous! Take note Stanley House Hotel
Service is shocking . So slow . Waited 1hr for starters. So many people complaining the night we went .
Officially the worst service I have ever had in my whole life.
Should be shut down! Terrible service.
Abysmal service here, with premium prices for less than adequate food. The staff here have also given up. We waited SO long for drinks, we were finished our meal! Weren't asked at any point if the food was okay or if we enjoyed our meal, and not even asked if we needed anything else? It was like you needed to beg for service! They also had run out of most drinks and some food. This extends to breakfast too. Just dreadful and let's the whole place down. All in, I do feel sorry for the staff, must be something going on with management and they are in dire need of some leadership.
Very disappointed - ordered food-- told food would take a long time- when it came out the wrong dish appeared for my wife- had to wait another 25 mins for hers- table dirty- disorganised- staff disorganised. Venue needs updated. Disappointed Food quality was ok but service not very good
Poor Afternoon tea, and not worth the price charged. 3 small sandwiches and the selection of sweet treats did not allow everyone the same choice or the same volume as 3 guests and 8 sweet items. The service was poor as we had to ask for drinks, for additional tea and cutlery. I would seriously think before you book I will not be returning
Food was very poor. Cauliflower dish came with no extras and was minimal for the price. Wellbeing salad was unpleasant ~ gritty spinach leaves and far too much pesto (oil) made it inedible. Aircon on high meant the room was very cold. Although the service was good, overall this was a disappointing experience!
Really disappointed with this visit. Gone incredibly down hill as we came a couple years back and really loved it. Service was incredibly bad, went for an afternoon tea and the food was delivered before the drinks came. Our food was served on the tea display but had to ask for plates and again had to ask for our drinks we had ordered right at the start. Wanted to order more drinks but no sign of waiters the entire meal, not even to check in on us, so they’ve lost money there. Really really disappointed and the £50 bill for the smallest selection of dry sandwiches and a little bit of cake was definitely the kicker. Wont be coming back here again for food.
Me and my mum booked to eat here following our spa experience, and it completely ruined our whole day and our consequent plans after visiting here too! The staff were clearly left on their own with no support from supervision, as we could see the manager dipping in and out of the restaurant for a matter of seconds at a time, once or twice throuhgout our stay. When another table asked to speak to him, they were advised to write their concerns down on the waitresses note pad and this would be passed to him! Clearly there was no control, responsibility or apology. Absolutely appalling, not only on guests but on his staff too taking on board all the complaints. We were seated at around 14.30 and our glass of complimentary prosecco was brought over, half a glass each which I thought was extremely cheeky, given the prices we had paid. Our order was taken promptly and by 15.15 we requested how much longer our starters were going to be. The waitress said she'd check, but never returned with an answer, this was a common theme throughout our time at Fred's and the same for other diners. At 15.35 we asked again where our food was. We were told 2 mins. At 15.43 (by this point I was checking the time continuously as our "lunch" which was originally booked for 13.45 [another mishap of our booking through no fault of our own]) was now being served to us 2 hours later. However we were presented with our mains. We sent these back and requested our starters, again. These arrived, my hummous and flatbread consisted of a plate of hummous with 4 rock solid pieces of 1inch squared flat bread pieces. These were almost inedible however eating lunch at almost 1600, I was starving. We asked the waitress if our chicken and rice mains would be cooked fresh as we were very concerned about reheated food causing us food poisoning. We were assured they would be. Our mains were served to us at around 16.30. My risotto had lumps of clumped up risotto, so how the website describes this restaurant as being run by talented chefs and quality food, this certainly was not it. When we came to order desert, we queried what the chocolate one was, the waitress could not offer any further information on what it was as apparently this was a new menu and she hadn't been informed what all the courses were. Where was the supervision and correct training to ensure -not even a quality- but basic dining experience? This course, we presumed was a mousse however the slop served to us was highly off-putting. It was an almost liquid consistency with bits in it, the texture was absolutely vile. The waitresses were calm and dealt with the numerous complaints from the 3 tables sat in the restaurant in a dignified manner. The purpose of this review is not about the waiting on staff. It is completely down to management how the dining room was ran on 18th May 2024. Excuses were used such as busi-ness of the restaurant however as already stated there were approximately 3 tables, after the 4th one left due to being served use jam and cream from previous diners!! We asked what the problem was to try and understand the issue but the waitresses did not know. We finally left the restaurant at 17:00 which had a huge negative impact on the fact we had dinner reservations -thankfully elsewhere - at 19:00. I look forward to hearing back with hopefully an explanation of what went wrong on this day as this surely cannot be the normal service which Fred's offers. Me and my mum after planning this whole day together and being so excited for it and spending hundreds of pounds to enjoy it are so thoroughly disappointed it's totally unacceptable.
