Amazing food and great customer service. We’ve been going there since it was Chef Chu’s in Menlo Park! 🇨🇳wonderful Chinese food 🥘 💚🆖🎎🎏⛩🎑🎑🏮🎭🎫🎭🥢🥡🥟🍱🍤🥦🥬🐉
Pretty good Chinese food and you can order to go 🍤🥜
We’ve been coming here for 20 years and the food is still great as ever. You can never go wrong with the combo fried rice and garlic chicken! :) Parking isn’t hard to find and the staff are super friendly. Would highly recommend if you’re in Menlo Park.

We've been coming here for many years. Love the food and the staff is super friendly 😊
My go to for good fresh Chinese food quickly cooked up.
Love the food! I've been going since I was a little girl
Best Chinese-American take-out in the area, and super friendly staff!
Take out is prime way to dine here. Almost always have meals ready when indicated. Fresh and flavorful items.
I've been going here for a long time. Great Chinese and Chinese American style fast food. Good value too.
My favorite place for Chinese food! We've been going here for years, since before the name change. Same amazing food!
Their generals chicken is the best meal I’ve ever had. I’ve been going for 15 years and still can’t get enough.
Great service, great food. I’ll definitely be back. The General’s chicken was awesome
I really like the chicken salad, Hunan beef, and combo fried rice all combined.
We had the House Beef and Sauteed String Beans for the first time tonight and I have a feeling this is going to be one of our go-to take outs.
Quick, tasty, with very good service. Phone orders are great for pickup.
Excellent food!! Su Hong and Chef Kwan, it's all good !!
extremely tasty, even therapeutic, hot and sour soup is the star of the menu
The best Chinese food around be sure to order the lunch specials between 12:00 and 3:00, I love the large chicken salad with the ground up peanuts and of course my favorite kung pao chicken.
Food here is delicious! Every time I'm in Menlo Park I have to stop here and get food to go. The cheese wontons were perfection and I always get a pint of the chinese chicken salad!😋🤤
Absolutely incredible Chinese experience. Chef Kwan’s is a local legend in Menlo Park, and is absolutely delectable with recipes that taste like Beijing. Also: GET THE GENERAL’S CHICKEN - IT WILL IN FACT CHANGE YOUR LIFE! Enjoy
The best Chinese Chicken Salad in San Mateo County. It is very lightly breaded chicken, thinly sliced. Super fresh shredded lettuce and tossed with just enough oil. I will drive 30 miles, all the way from Berkeley, just for it. Jane in the front, and everyone else are very nice and efficient.
For fast food, this place is great. I go for the lunch combo pretty often. (Served until 2pm I believe.) Things I love: - Every order is made fresh - They dont mix the sweet and sour sauce with the meat; you do! - I'm a huge fried rice fan and the combo comes with good bbq pork fried rice no extra charge. - The vibe is great - You get plenty to eat for about $12
All time favorite! Go to place for comfort Chinese food. Been coming here for over 15 years. Prices are super reasonable. Service is fast. Good selection on the menu. It's mostly a take out place - so don't expect to dine in.
Quite good for a small local take out. It's our go-to Chinese restaurant and they use quality ingredients. The chicken dishes are lean chicken and the kids always like when we order from Chef Kwan. We usually phone in the order, which only takes about 10 minutes to be ready, which is the same amount of time it takes us to drive over. I'm vegan and their veggie, eggplant and tofu dishes are great! Just be sure to let them know you're vegan so they don't cook using chicken stock. The staff is friendly and efficient. They just recently did a small amount of remodeling which makes the inside look much nicer than it had been. It's nice to see them investing money back into the store to keep it looking fresh.
Chef Kwan’ is one of the more popular Chinese restaurants in Palo Alto that offers an amazing menu of food options. This Chinese restaurant showcases some of the most authentic and delicious food options. Fortune Chinese Food offers Chinese cuisine made from the freshest ingredients and spices great and Wonderful staff super Friendly thx so much Connie
Mostly take-out but there are a few tables inside. The food is very good and the service is friendly. A tremendous value for the area. They also seem to try to make some of the classic "american chinese" dishes in a healthier fashion (e.g. General's Chicken)
First timer to Chef Kwan's and I will definitely be coming back! I came in for take-out and the portions were delicious and generous! Really efficient staff had me on my way home fast.
Their internet was down, so it was cash only. The friendly and attentive service was still there though. The food we great. I can recommend the spicy hunan beef. Great service and food combined means I'll be back
I have been cooking here since I was a kid. The name has changed but the food is still the same great experience I have come to know and love. I don't currently live in the area, so every chance I get to come here is a treat!
This place is a bit expensive for a Chinese food place, but it's definitely worth it. People come from all over the area to get their food because the quality so much higher than your typical greasy Chinese restaurant. This place is definitely only for takeout since they only have a couple of small tables, but their preparation times are always quick and reliable
Best tomato-Beef Chow Mein around. Also very generous with prawns in Cashew Prawns. Quick, slightly pricey but convenience and food quality make up for it!
Got the Kwan's special this time, wasn't quite as good as some of the lunch specials for my preference, but the food was as good as always. Great portions, quick service, really hits the spot for Chinese takeout!
Always awesome . Su hongs was great Chef Kwans is great too . 30+ years of great Chinese food in MP . The noodles are a bit dryer these days but everything else just tastes damn good .
Even though the menu and cooking staff are the same as when they were Su Hong, the quality has gone up a notch. Wouldn't get 5 stars in San Francisco, but it's in Menlo Park. As always, fast and friendly.
Awesome place!! I love their food! It’s cheap, but very deliciouuuuuuus 😋 friendly and helpful staff. Omg! They always busy. The phone rings always! A lot of customers. Highly recommended!!
Consistency is present every time. Good flavors, great staff. Never a bad experience. Best place in town for sure hands down.
I love Chef Kwan's! Everything is prepared fresh right in front of you. No muss no fuss! Keep up the good work Chef Kwan's and family! See you on the next visit to Menlo Park.
Whenever I think of good Chinese food, I always think of this place. In fact, I usually use it as a benchmark when buying from other places but the answer is always the same "it's not as good as Chef Kwan's!" I have been going here for about 15 years, which is before their name change, but the service and food quality never changed. Whenever I am in the area now and need something to eat, or want to grab take out for family and friends, this is THE spot!

Best fast food concept Chinese I've ever seen delicious food friendly fast service
Good take out food. Best rice, chicken salad, kun pao chicken and beef.
Great place. Minimalist front of house, respectable looking prep kitchen area. Everything that I’ve ordered has been top notch.
This is our go-to place for yummy Chinese food. Sometimes a bit variable, but their lunch boxes can't be beat.
First off combo fried ice is amazing second vegetarians pot stickers are a healthy win with some sauce and as I’m generlw CUSTOMER SERVICE NEEDS MAJOR IMPROVEMENT ...I was RUDELY FROWNED as I entered bhr being the KIND HEARTED GUY I AM I RATE FOOD BETTER THAN HORRIFIC SERVICE
Fast service, great food to go. Now called Chef Kwan's but same menu, people and quality, but different owner, I suspect.
Unbelievably fast! Our favorite Chinese food for many years now. Jason is our fave!
Formerly Su Hongs, Menu is mostly the same. Ordered the Szechuan Prawns with fried rice. It was great.
Good food! phone order requires careful listening and a prepaired order list.
Chicken salad was good. Didn't care for the chicken in it. The mustard and peanuts having
Excellent take out food. Have enjoyed their luncheon specials for years. They do have limited seating for dining there.
Great place to order Togo’s. Not many seatings/ nor atmosphere to eat in the restaurant, but also, you save the cost. Only one guy takes your order, while all 7 other guys and girls work hard in the kitchen, absolutely worth the money. I ordered a Kong po chicken for 12 dollar, it is like lunch and dinner, that’s how much they offer.
Not a terrible place to grab some classic take out Chinese food. Fast and efficient. Not the cheapest place but worth the extra dime if you are craving a quick bite of orange chicken or Broccoli beef.
The shredded pork in garlic sauce is my absolute favorite. The lunch combo with one entree, fried rice, fried noodle and a vegetable spring roll is very economical.
Chef Kwan’s is a solid choice for American Chinese takeout. The food is pretty good, with all the classics you'd expect; nothing too fancy, but definitely satisfying. They have a good variety on the menu, so it’s easy to find something for everyone. One of the best things about this place is how fast they are. My order was ready in just 10 minutes, and the service was quick and efficient. It’s clearly set up for takeout, so don’t go expecting a dine-in experience; but for a quick and tasty meal to go, Chef Kwan’s delivers.
Consistent quality for a good price, my go to place for quick food to go .
My go-to chinese food for the past 4yrs! Used to go there at least once a week - usually when my child came back from sports meet. The owner (same as my name) started recognizes me.... Missed his food so much - we moved overseas temperory for now unfortunately. But when we r back in town, we'll definitely head back for our fav - beef w/ brocolli (brown sauce!) and Beijing chicken wings!

Decided to go here instead of panda express. The results wasted money and still going to panda express. They gave me soup and when I tried to ask what it was I got told what you order. Not happy the rice was good
Went to Chef Kwan‘s for the first time and ordered vegetable chow mein with cream cheese wontons. Lots of parking near Trader Joe’s in the back. Appropriately socially distanced in the lobby. A few little tables to sit. Specifically asked if the wontons were vegetarian and was told that they have egg, but other than that would be okay. Well, actually, they have crab— which I don’t consider vegetarian. Really big bummer. The noodles were all right, but tasted very black peppery. Probably would not return here, unfortunately.

Gloopy American ized Chinese, primarily for take away. Very popular, place is clean at least.
Been there 3 times, always got the Chinese chicken salad, just unremarkable.
Food is exceptional if they are not too busy. Otherwise, fantastic. My favorite local go to spot
The food is decent and fresh. It doesn't take long for it to be made and the staff are friendly. Tree food isn't particularly flavorful though.
Good service. I order the same thing, to go, everytime. Sometimes it tastes very good, someone's it's regular.
a little greasy, but fine in a pinch for really fast, american-style chinese food. hot and sour soup hit the spot.
Good food but the price is a little high when compared to J&J's down the street.
The quality has gone downhill over the last 2 years. Keep trying them in hope it will be better, but no longer keep trying.
Upscale version of Panda Express. Lover shrimp was good size with nice broccoli. Even though operation was designed for take out... eating in the shop was still aluminum box. Portion didn’t even fill the box and only st 2/3 fill. Not bad... order prepped in 5m.
Just ok - portion sizes and quality was quite good. Fast efficient service. Their kitchen is big and well capable of processing orders fast and with efficiency. - pot stickers were cold
Su Hong to Go is a long-time Menlo Park mainstay and favorite spot of mine for lunch The Chinese Chicken Salad is one of my favorites. Call 10 minutes ahead and pick up when you arrive. There are a few tables to eat in - nothing fancy - but mostly this is a take out/home restaurant.
No points for ambience, but the food is very good - we go here more than the main restaurant so it's hard to compare but I think it's on par. We usually eat there because we go when we're hungry - they have free hot tea and water, but you have to eat off a styrofoam plate. One of the tables has a Pacman arcade game.
I’ve been going to this restaurant for decades. That includes when it was called Su Hong to go. Went in today to get a little dinner and the gentleman at the register was out and out rude. Very short, and gave you the distinct impression that he didn’t wanna be there. The food is still very good, but no food is that good. I’m afraid that’s the last time I go back. No, the gentleman was not Asian.
$30 for a small Chinese chicken salad and a small order of their walnut shrimp is a crime. Shameful.

Disappointed in both the price and the quality of food. I ordered general tsos chicken, some pots stickers and an egg roll. The picture attached is what I got when I ordered general tsos, there’s a one size container (no small or large) and it costs $15 - yea $15 for just that container. No rice or anything with it. Then when I got it I was def disappointed in the taste. This is a different general tsos that just tastes like mild chicken wing pieces put in a container. Not the unique sweet and spicy general tso you would expect. Then the egg roll cost me $2 and that wasn’t even a nice egg roll - it was a small spring roll that you can get in the frozen section of a grocery store in a box. Then to top it off, the potstickers were sold individually- $2 a piece! So I wanted atleast 3 of them - well at least those were good - but $6 for 3 dumplings??? In the end everything cost me $24 and it honestly was a waste of money. The chicken I cant even eat, it’s not even big pieces but instead small little pieces/ends/trimmings put in a box with barely any flavor. - ridiculous. Never going back here again, not worth the money at all

Not like they used to be when SuHong was name. They call shrimp.. Prawn's.. way too much $$$ for quality of food.
General chicken with pork fried rice. No vegetables. Little menu flexibility. Chose between what you want or how much you want.
When you order food to go, they are very stingy with the condiments and utensils. Girl at the front register is lost in thought.
Quality has definitely gone gown over the years but still the best potsitckers in the bay area.
Not nearly as good as their predecessor in that location (whose name I forgot… they were sooo good!). The food is average of what you would find in a low end food court. Not what you would expect in Menlo Park
The food we ordered tonight was fresh and not Ivercooked but very bland and did not have the lovely distinction of Chinese food flavors. One dish we ordered was Mu Shu Chicken. Without the plum sauce, you would have never known it was “Chinese food. “ Sadly disappointing but not without the possibility for improvement.
I have been going to Su Hong~ originally the restaurant and then the take out from it's conception. Last night the take out was a disaster! I ordered the Green Onion Beef ~ There was so much onion tops you could not find the beef ~ Horrid ~ The Four Mushroom Chicken had two that i could see ~ Made up mainly from the vin ordinary White button with two black mushrooms they reconstituted. San Carlos has so many wonderful Asia/Chinese Restaurants i can see how this happens ~ Sun Hong has a captivated audience and is loosing some of it's old customers to sloppy preparation. Sandy
It's normally good but I went on a Saturday night and my order took Forever! Not good when I have kids starving 😫
Notice how there is a difference in reviews between those who ordered take out or DoorDash vs the ones who ate at the restaurant. Ordered curry chicken chow fun and the it was so bland I couldn’t eat it. Zero flavor. Second time I’ve ordered through door dash and could not eat the food I was given. I am convinced you get poorer quality food if you choose to order take out and DoorDash.

I am writing a review this time because I felt hurt. I love eating at this place. Been coming here even when they changed ownership from su hung to chef kwan. Been coming here since I was a baby. But today when I came to pick up the order that my aunt called for, one of the ladies behind the desk asked me if the order was for me. Had to ask again because she didn’t believe me. She told me it was a large order. And didn’t think it was for me. When she discriminated me like that. I felt really hurt. She should keep her opinions to herself and just be happy that there are any customers, even by now. I don’t understand how she can be a bully. I love eating there delicious Chinese food but if they keep treating customers like this, I will not come back.
Food is quite below the average , service is too bad , slow and unrespectful cashier , the restaurant looks dirty and smells not good ı never come here again

Worst Chinese food I’ve ever eaten. Also got me a diarrhea…
Really not very good, have tried twice in past few days, once for dinner, today for the lunch special. Has to be better Chinese around... Doubt I'd return.
Not so good sweet and sour chicken and pork extremely dry soup had no flavor dont normally give a bad review but i will not return
Food here used to be good. The quality is terrible.
Bad food taste orange chicken, beef brocolly chow mein, walnut shrimp overcharge bad food they don't even give you utensil and soy sauce anything to go no napkins I would never go again I threw orange chicken in the trash waste of money. They don't care about their customer only the money
The food containers were tossed in the take out bag so they all spilled. The sticky rice was overcooked. The Mongolian beef which is about onions and spice, had none. The dish had no flavor, same with chicken and vegetables, no flavor. Worst Chinese food I ever had. I will not return!
Caser show a attitude is like boxing 🥊 ring It’s restaurant not club
The man who takes food orders 6 days a week will not serve me. I've asked why many times and received: "I don't know, I can't help you", every time. The other (asien employees/owners) take my order but allow him to discriminate when he's the only employee (taking orders). You have the right to refuse service with explanation. I'm given none. I'm forced to seek legal advice. This kind of thing cannot exist when no reason explanation or infraction has occurred. The management (or owner) will most likely be informed reguarding the restaurants obvious legal infraction.
Checked for Chinese eateries in the area and found 4 stars review on this place. Tried and turned out to be a very disappointed experience. My fiancé had a chicken with noodle/rice. The small pieces of chicken were not eatable, dry/salty.., noodle had no taste at all.. . I had a combination chow fun. It was merely ok at most.. . I am Chinese and I would only give 1 star to these Chinese food. I am really surprised how others have given high ratings... might be we just ordered the wrong food to be fair..
I was born in Palo Alto. The old Su Hong was so great...consistent. Always knew you'd get the same great quality no matter when you ordered. Now, recipes are similar...but zero love. Ok at best. Ya never know what you're going to get....especially the chicken salad and soups. Every couple months we go back to order oure favorites...tonite, the combination won ton soup had only pork, broth so flat. The chicken chow mien had no chicken, and the chicken salad was oily and mostly salad. Potstickers were good. It used to be everything was good. They don't care anymore for what ever reason. Go to Chef Chu's... a dollar more but consistent, great tasting, dishes, and they give a hoot. No question...
Su Hong and Su Hong to Go used to be wonderful. Husband was returning from business in Palo Alto recently and picked up Su Hong to Go for the family. It was terrible. Honestly, the hot bar at Safeway was better than what we got for an inflated price tag. We are sticking to Crouching Tiger near home for future takeout meals.
Food was okay. My only problem with this place is that the customer service was lacking due to a short staffed restaurant. The server woman barked at me to pay for an order I made to go, not realizing I had already paid her and I was waiting... so not fun. This place kinda killed my vibe today and the food is kinda just like whatever at this point.
Didn’t even get to eat here. They had the doors wide open. We Waited 5 minutes just for someone to tell us “we close” when the website says Closing at 9:30. If you close at 8:50pm then you need to have that up there.
I could not believe how small our take out portion was. Two entrees weren’t even enough food for one person and our order came out to be $30!!! Food tasted too much like cornstarch. Disappointing and nothing redeeming about it.
Don't waste your money here even if you have it to waste. This is average to below average food except for those who are taste disabled. My first visit to Chef Kwans found their food not at all delicious but simply edible, if you are really hungry. What a disappointment! Only two "dinner special" items where available. No rice with the entres. A big horse fly was busy between supervising the cooks and zestfully greeting patrons. Strangely there was not a delicious aroma emitting from this semi busy kitchen. Papasoon thinks he is just the cat's pajamas exerting the "I'm so great attitude" for no apparent reason. I did not like my tasteless chicken chowmein. My friend ordered the chowmein and Mongolian beef which based on her facial expressions were not good. Never again?
