I had delicious cocktails, food and great customer service at Gino's. I sat at the bar by myself and it did not feel awkward at all. The bartender was very sweet and helpful and I super duper enjoyed the delicious oysters that were huge and 12 for $32. I also had their specialty, fall sangria and their banana nut cocktail along with the chicken Alfredo. I was so happy with my food and experience 10 out of 10
Another nice Region steakhouse. The food is tasty, the service is great, the place can feel a little crowded, but it is pleasant for a date or a meet up with other couples. They do have a private room available for groups. If you are a dessert person, they got em.
The food was fantastic. Even the bread they served was delicious. The food portions were spot on and came out hot even with a large party. The service was really quick too.
Excellent service!! The waitress was very friendly and checked on us throughout our meal. All the bus service was very nice. They were keeping up with the tables, bringing more bread & refilling our drinks when needed. The NY strip steak was tender & delicious. They serve freshly baked warm bread & the best Gino's peppers! Save room for dessert as the waitress will bring out a tray with a large variety of different cakes. My family chose Death by Chocolate Cake, Turtle Cheesecake & Red Velvet Cake. It is a bit more pricey than your average restaurant but remember you get what you pay for! Reservations recommended!
Sat at the bar and ordered food. The bartender was very friendly and attentive. She did a great job. Oysters are great, biggest you’ll get anywhere. Caprese salad was delicious, the mozzarella was fresh. Giant meatball was great too. Bourbon cocktail was good.
I don't normally eat at restaurants that costs this much. However the food was GREAT the service was good. This might have been the best steak I've ever had in my 47 years of life. This was a great evening with my wife 💕. We definitely look forward to going here again.
We were seated right away very friendly staff. We started off with bread and their famous Peppers (YUMMY) a bowl of Chicken Lemon Rice soup (lemon rice soup was ok). and a bowl of Lobster Bisque . My husband ordered the special Shrimp and Chicken Primavera. I ordered the King Crab Legs One thing I learned is when I see market price on the menu is to ask what that is before I order. I was just SHOCKED when we got the Bill.
We were in town due to a death in the family and decided to have dinner here. We were not disappointed, the service was excellent and the food was absolutely delicious.
Delicious meal! The stuffed mushrooms were the best! Filet perfectly cooked. Ribeye was spot on! Service was a little slow but all in all worth the wait! I will definitely go back!
Even if you don't like green peppers (I do not) try the ones they bring you for the bread. It's not like any pepper I've ever tasted. I highly recommend the sample platter appetiser as well. The oysters Rockefeller was on point. The staff was friendly and helpful as well.
Definitely enjoyed the food and the service that was given. Everything was cooked so perfectly.
The waiter, Caleb S, was very attentive and professional, He ensured we had everything we needed. He checked on us often, and even the presentation of items we took home looked great. AB AND WB. Thank you
This was our first time visiting Gino's, a place I've heard so much about from friends who live in the area. Our waiter, Jordan, was absolutely amazing! He was attentive, intelligent and helped us make delicious decisions for a wonderful dinner. We started with the bruschetta which was one of the best we have had, the perfect bite of the garlic and onion with a generous portion of balsamic and perfectly toasted bread. The ribeye was delicious as were the tenderloin medallions, diana style with mushrooms, onions and a red wine demi glace, both perfectly prepared at the requested temperature. The dessert tray was enticing as well with multiple cake selections, tiramisu, and the selection we brought home, a generous portion of a frosted chocolate brownie which I certainly had to take a bite of when we got home.
Only place I can find with Bell Peppers the way I like, they cook your food perfectly, and very well serviced.
Food was VERY tasteful, service was EXCELLENT, atmosphere was clean/beautiful. I would highly recommend this place if you are planning to be absolutely satisfied all thee way around.
Tho it's a little pricey, you really get the bang for the buck! Our experience was absolutely wonderful and the portions.. omg I took half my food home. Great job Gino's!
I celebrated my birthday with a surprise from my love. He told the staff it was my birthday and I happened to order Bananas Foster for dessert. Just so happens that they started providing table service about 2 weeks prior to my visit. Such a delight! The dessert was absolutely delicious! 😋 😍 😋😍 Ask for Chrstin (my apologies if I misspelled it). She's awesome! 😊 Thanks again!
Our server Kristen was outstanding! All the servers and bussers made sure our plates were cleared and even boxed up our meals for us. Water never ran out! Food was delicious and amazing presentation! Highly recommend this place. They handles our larger somewhat difficult group impeccably! We will be back! Thank you Gino’s for making our holiday gathering so memorable and amazing!
Excellent food... service...& ambiance. The owner treated us to the greek salad last night. What a treat it was!!! We ordered the prime rib... delicious. John & I Thank you for your generosity and warm hospitality. Looking forward to returning. You Truly have a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ restaurant.
Our server was spectacular! Had to drive a distance to get there, but it was absolutely worth it. The oysters Rockefeller hands down my favorite anywhere. I definitely will be going back there again. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Wonderful experience. Staff was friendly, personable, helpful and efficient. We received great recommendations for food and drinks. Food was amazing and just as described. Our party had a great time and will return.
Everything was delicious. Especially the sausage and peppers. Our waitress was amazing. They do charge automatic 18% gratuity on the bill.
Yesterday, on April 11th, Tuesday, I had the pleasure of dining at Gino's steakhouse for lunch. As I perused the menu, I couldn't help but notice that the lunch selection seemed a bit limited. I was unsure of what the dinner menu had to offer, but the offerings that were available for lunch were quite broad, ranging from hamburgers to steak, seafood, salads, and soups. What stood out to me, however, were the complimentary green peppers that were served in oil. They had a subtle sweetness to them that added a unique flavor to my meal. Additionally, I appreciated the complimentary bread and butter, which was a nice touch. For my lunch, I opted for the chicken Caesar salad, which was really delicious. The lettuce was fresh and crisp, and the chicken was cooked to perfection. I also decided to try the bacon cheeseburger, which was incredibly fresh. The bacon seemed to be cooked right before being placed on the burger, and the bun was soft and fluffy. However, I did request my burger to be cooked to medium temperature, but unfortunately, it was closer to being well done, with no hint of pink. On the side, I had the real potato fries, which were just as good as the ones from Five Guys, if not better. They were thicker and had a great texture, indicating that they were not frozen but freshly made. Despite the fact that the restaurant seemed to be short-staffed, and there was a long wait for our appetizers and meal, the prices were quite reasonable. Overall, I had a great experience at Gino's steakhouse, and I would definitely return for another meal. And just to be clear, my intention to return is not a threat, but rather a testament to the quality of the food and the dining experience.
Made reservations for my birthday dinner here. I read the reviews before I went. I knew what to expect. I wanted to believe the whole "owner is mean" was a lie, but It wasn't. As we walked in, there was nobody at the hostess stand. They were very busy. The restaurant looks big from the outside, but it is small. The tables are very close to each other. I am from Illinois, and that close will be a fire hazard. Safety 1st, but maybe it's not in indiana. So first impression, owner/ boss walks up says hi. I told him I had a reservation for 5, and he just walked away, I was a little confused. Then we heard him yelling at his staff. Talk about second-hand embarrassment! Wow! Jaw dropped. This type of behavior makes me want to open up my own restaurant and take all these hard-working employees with me. They deserve better, not once did they give us bad service. The owner was yelling at the bussers. I wish my eyes and ears did not witness this, but I felt the need to over tip our server. The food was delicious! No complaints, the boss was too much for me. Our server Aleesha was the best, along with all the bussers. Hostess never greated, no opinion on her, just that she must have it good with owner. Do I recommend my hardworking people to spend their money here? Probably not. I have to be honest. The owner needs to humble himself...
This was my first visit to Gino’s Steakhouse in Merrillville, IN. I went here for dinner with work colleagues and everyone thought it was great. We started with Oysters Rockefeller and New Orleans Style Oysters, both good choices. I had the 9 oz Beef Filet with Roquefort Bleu Cheese and Asparagus, it was perfect. Others had various steaks and sides, all agreed the food was excellent. They had a good whiskey selection. The staff was friendly and service was good. I will definitely return when I’m i the area.
I've dined at Gino's on a few different occasions while in the area. The steaks are great and to perfection. On this day I tried a crab cake and orange roughy with lemon butter sauce and broccoli as a side. The crab cake was very bready and not flavorful the fish was nothing special, and the steamed broccoli was hard. The presentation was lackluster. Stick to steaks at the steakhouse. I will definitely go back. Perhaps it was an off night for the chef
It's starting to get back to the old place which is an improvement. The chef no longer over garlic everything like the previous chefs.
This is a great family restaurant, we celebrated my moms birthday we had a party of 10 and the customer service was excellent! Considering we had such a large party we were happy. My lobster was a little over cooked so that’s why I didn’t give 5 stars. They also give large portions so u will have leftovers.
Went there on New Year's eve reservation at 8 no problem, we had a Server by the name of Chase not very attentive( maybe tired no an excuse to me) so we ordered Oyster rockerfeller not only was the plate hot but the oysters were hot to the touch he didn't warn us about any of that most servers will tell you hot plate and hot dish be careful, could have easily burned our hand and mouths ,and also felt rushed so we probably won't be going back just my take.
The filet I ordered was good, but bland in the seasoning. The carrot cake was very good.
The peppers and bread along with the calamari were delicious. My husband had the special tbone which was cooked to order but he said it was not tender and hard to cut. My veal vesuvio was over spicy and the fried cod was not fully cooked to flaky. The deserts were very tasty. I will go back but may choose something else. We still had a nice evening.
They have a very strange rule. They auto charge 18 percent gratuity for 5 guests or less. Less, not more. The waitress was great, so I tipped even more. Mediocre food at best. I wont be back.
The beverage was mixed as expected, The bean and ham soup was decent, the mushroom caps very good. The shrimp dejonghe was probably prepared and served as intended and was tasty enough, I just didn’t care for its excessive richness. The menu itself lacks creativity and variety unless you are ISO what they serve. My server for the evening was Sam, he was very pleasant and attentive.
Went months ago & forgot to do a review. Stuffed mushrooms were good. My chicken alfredo fettuccine was good too but I wasn't fond of the mushroom capers pasta dish. Drinks were decent.
Not bad, not great. Steak cook was dead on, peppers were good. The demi glace on the filet was gross, not a fan. Crab cake was weird and the quality of said crab was sus.
Not quite too sure what to make of this place. We came it and it was hopping, we where sat down in a fairly timely manner. Whoever is running the dining area is pretty on it but most of our beginning experience was almost soulless and a little cringey. Off handed glasses of water and nonchalantly served a bread basket. Then an odd moment of trying to figure out who our server was, then we were kindly greeted with some peppers soaked in olive oil for, idk why just because, for the lawls, just for the f of it, or is it some sort of secret society? Prices here are a bit crazy high. The men’s room is disappointing for what you pay for the food. I had a meatball and well wow it’s large but it was $17 plus mandatory 18% gratuity. The food is meh okay I suppose. I’m glad we are just passing through. Thank you for your pleasant service Kristin
Went here today Got charged for a credit card fee and used cash and only 2 of us me and my husband and they automatically put a 20 percent tip on the bill also . Will probably not be going back disappointed and there wasn't alot of choices with the food for 50.00 a person
Food was ok. A little overpriced for what you get, the menu is massive a little overwhelming which isn't good. Service at the bar was great. Prices are just not on point for the food
First of all Geno’s was recommended to us by family members and the food was very good- I had Sea Bass and my wife Tilapia. The service was so-so at best. Our waiter did not offer any information concerning the specials. Thought it was a bit strange but this was our first visit. Since I don’t like wait staff coming by frequently asking how we’re doing, I was pleased that we could have a quiet moment & eat in peace. Now came the real bummer. An 18% gratuity was automatically added to the bill. Now, I’m a minimum 20% tipper but I assume if 18% is all this guy wants that’s all I should tip. I feel that I should be able to make my own gratuity decisions. Which I did plus $5.00 to make a point. I find it amazing that Geno’s would be so snub to allow this practice. But the food was great . . . not so much on the service.
Everything was going well until a small issue they could have been easily resolved was overlooked by our server and the manager. We came on Christmas Eve and it was busy. But for sure they should have been prepared. Had some cocktails. They were strong. The old fashioned wasn’t made correctly. One ice cube. Not multiple. We had the crab cake. It was decent. A ton of filler. Not a lot of crab to be found. We ordered the ribeye with fries. Excellent. Definitely cooked medium to specification. Fries were hot too. I ordered the peppercorn filet medallions. They were covered in the demi glace. Also I had a side of garlic mashed potatoes. The plate was NOT hot. The steak was warm at best. Could have been HOT. Especially if you are paying $50. The potatoes were COLD. I sent them back. The new potatoes I received were ALSO COLD. Unacceptable. You should not have to send cold food back twice. I was also told I could get the vegetables instead but would take long. We waited. They never came. Even asking our server at the end she said it’s included in the price so there is nothing she can do. Salad was watery. Should have dried the lettuce before serving. This way the dressing doesn’t rub off. Disappointed in the ending of our meal. Not a repeat for me.
Service was wack food fair but the presentation is good got the bread almost 30 mins after we were seated it was hair in someone’s food dishes not properly cleaned drinks were good
It was my Birthday. The lobster bisque was watery, meatball bland, appeared as a big meatloaf, and the Steaks were underseasoned. Not impressed at all! Very disappointing!
the New York Strip Steak… I ordered my steak medium-well, but it came out burnt on the outside and raw on the inside. I sent it back, and unfortunately the second attempt was still raw and burnt, so I wasn’t able to eat it. There was also no seasoning on the steak at all. The garlic mashed potatoes were fantastic — definitely the highlight of my meal. My husband also had to send his food back because it was undercooked, but he did enjoy the crab cake. The environment was super friendly and welcoming, which we appreciated. I just wish the food quality matched the atmosphere and price. Of course the steak is a bit pricey, but it’s not worth it The picture is from the day after I order the steak.. I planned to throw it in the air fryer but was scared I would get sick so I just threw it in the garbage. About $170+ wasted
On my birthday night I made a mistake of driving 63 miles to this restaurant! I ordered a medium well steak and I received a well done steak! My server then got the manger ( a older man) he walked over to the table and told me that all steaks were cooked on a “timer” and he was very unsympathetic! He told me that it would be pink once I got to the bone and it would be okay and walked away. Never have I ever experience that’s type of behavior from a manager!! Meanwhile, my server was overly apologetic and got my cake to take home since it was a my birthday! Which I appreciate. Me and my husband spent 163 dollars!!! I expected the manager to at least have the cook recook the steaks!! Or offer a discount! The bread the brought out was cold and stale as ever !!! The drinks were horrible !!! My overall experience was not the best and I’m so upset I decided to spent my birthday here !
Worst meal ever. Orders through grub hub, steak have a gravy type of sauce not mentioned online . The bread was so hard you could break a tooth, mashed potatoes tasted old and dry
Dined here at 2:30 on a Monday afternoon. There were only three tables with customers The bread was the best part of the meal but it was served late with the meal because “they burned the previous loaf.” Asked for rigatoni - twice - but was served spaghetti instead. The sauce was so greasy I couldn’t finish it anyway. Also ordered chicken with vegetables which was okay but tasted very strongly of lemon which overpowered it. Other than refilling our water glasses promptly the service was non-existent. I give the atmosphere three stars because of all of the beautiful flowers outside the restaurant which almost compensated for the bug crawling across the table and the background music which was blaring so loud you couldn’t hear yourself think. We won’t be back.
Lovely resturant, terribly bland food. We ordered a ribeye $55 (it was cooked to order but was swimming a bland broth with no seasoning on the steak) cheese ravioli $24 (was stuffed well with flavorless ricotta) and a kids chicken and fries $13 (absolutely no salt on the fries and the chicken was gross but our son did enjoy eating the garnish on his plate) we took about 2 bites before requesting a manager who couldn't believe the food was bland and said it's grade A meat all they add is a little salt, no other seasoning and they've cooked it this way for years! They offered to recook and add seasoning, but it was not worth the risk or the wait. We paid full price and left our plates full on the table. Will never go back again. Very disappointing for a almost $130 meal.
Food was good but the pricing for certain food items ordered was outrageous. And the fact that you can't split bills should've been stated upon making reservations. (Update) Would give place zero if i could. I gave grace because it was valentine's day but a hour for the food. And never received steak sauce or ketchup despite asking multiple times is diabolical! Asked to speak with a manager or supervisor and was told i had to wait till it "slows down" will never go again
Went for Thanksgiving this year. Atmosphere was so stressful, too many reservations and the setup of the buffet was not done properly. They sat us at a table for 4 when we had 5 people. People were literally bumping into each other trying to get their food. The food was cold, and honestly not good. Would never return for a holiday meal at this restaurant. Plus, they automatically added a 20% gratuity when we had to get our own food!. The owners are obviously very greedy people that does not care about the customers experience.
I spent $100 on dinner for two and gave a $20 tip. When I received my credit card statement, the tip was changed to $50! When I politely pointed this out to management they offered to refund me half of the difference with a $15 gift card.
