Whenever Im craving Jamaican food this is my spot I love everything about them! My only complaint is that the oxtails don't have a lot of meat on they!
Wow! Food is delicious! The young lady at the front is very friendly and has a nice warm smile. Food is reasonably priced. I got 2 beef patties, a side of rice and peas with oxtail gravy and a soda for $13 bucks and I can’t even finish it all! My belly is full. The portions are nice! The food is what I needed! Those flavors, that freshness! I will be back and I’m very happy I found this gem not too far from my house. Kind of a good and bad thing because summer is right down the road! 🤣 Also, I didn’t have to ask for napkins or a fork, and the nice lady was kind enough to ask me if I would like gravy on my rice right before they boxed it up. Good old fashioned customer service!
Pretty good Jerk Chicken with rice and peas and Steamed veggies. I was the first person before the dinner rush and for a simple order, it seemed like other orders flew out way faster than me, waiting over 25 mins. For the Price of a small plate $12, it was a pretty decent plate. 3 pieces of chicken. soft and easy to eat. Not exactly smoky for me, gravy was on the tart/tomato side of flavor with a semi decent kick to it. The gravy goes well with the veggies and rice! Rice was cooked nicely. I personally would not go back, considering its equal distance to other places I like more. But its a good option for the area.
Food is delicious and some items are cooked to order but that's what makes it even better. It's fresh!!! They also have a new menu item which was the jerk ribs which was good like everything else is
The oxtail plate was really good. The only downside was the young lady at the desk. She didn’t seem very welcoming and wasn’t very personable. A more friendly and inviting attitude would definitely improve the experience.
This place Is about 30 min from my house but they have the best ox tails! The decor is very cool to me & I love the “ language” menu ❤️. The customers were all very polite, but quiet and the staff were about as lively as a rock. It’s Friday 8 pm if that affects anything. There is no doubt they have the best food but their moral needs to change & a larger place would likely attract more customers. I’ve never had ox tails till here but fell in love! So did my family
The goat was good but the oxtail i was not a fan. Came off American. The gravy was tasted if I was eating one of those Salisbury Steak TV di Vera from back in the day. I do love how they have Jamaican dishes not normally served in the USA. Stew Peas is on the menu but only served on Fridays.
First time trying this place.my man my man took me here so that we can try new things and places together 10/10 . I had the curry goat and oxtails with the rice and beans and cabbage. Amazing. I’m still in awe about the cabbage. I highly recommend this place. It was my first time but won’t be my last. Update: came back to try this place again after 5pm on a Friday. And I’ve been here three times since my first review. This must be a family business. Came into the establishment, nothing like the first. Wasn’t greeted. The young lady at the counter seemed to be feeling some kind of way. Didn’t bother to smile, the place felt sad. Even while we were deciding on food, we were asking questions, nothing verbal, just shaking her head or nodding for confirmation. Food is good, but I’ll spend my money elsewhere. took away my stars. Customer service needs some tuning up.
Food was ok. Had stew chicken and oxtails. With rice and peas w/ cabbage. Meet was cooked and tender but too sweet. And way too much gravy was added. It make the entire dish soupy soupy. I don’t think you want me to add photots cause i know you all can do better. I won’t be coming back for the fried plantains you all forgot. Anyway I’m no longer hungry for that I’m grateful. But the food wasn’t that great.
As far as Jamaican or Caribbean food goes, this place is average at best. Especially having enjoyed Jamaican food from various other states, and being born and raised in the Caribbean, there’s not much that makes the food stand out. I always look forward to trying some good oxtail, but again this just didn’t do it for me. Also, I’m used to rice & peas with cabbage and plantain being the norm, having to pick 2 out of 3 just makes it less worth it. They get points for authenticity, the decor of the venue itself, and the location. But this isn’t a place I would frequent for good Caribbean food. It’s decent. And no soup?! That was a disappointment, not to mention horrible customer service over the phone. Luckily, service inside the store itself is better.
I really thought I found a hidden treasure close to me but that was short lived. I walked in was greeted but it was not a welcoming feeling. In my head I thought oh yes the food will be great because most authentic Jamacian spots I've been are not the best with customer service but the food ALWAYS hits. I ask the young lady what is the best seller and she told me oxtail, so I ordered that in large. I get home and the bowl is full of gravy almost half the plate was soup. 2 okay size oxtail, no flavor weird aftertaste, cabbage very blan and so were the rice and peas. I was a little disappointed and first time experiences always matter so I won't be back.
I ordered over the phone and picked up in-store. The food was hot but didn’t seem very fresh, as it had a noticeable “refrigerator” taste. I suggest routine cleaning and using a refrigerator deodorizer like baking soda. The rice and peas lacked flavor but were hot. The oxtail gravy was great, though the meat itself lacked flavor. The meat was tender but there were only small pieces. I expected thick about 2-3in wide & 1-1/2 in in depth pieces. The curry shrimp was the best dish, with excellent spice and flavor, but there were only about five shrimp in the container, and the steamed rice, which should have been included, was missing from the bag. The curry chicken tasted like it had been reheated multiple times, which detracted from the otherwise good gravy. The jerk chicken had a nice smoke flavor and flavorful marinade, but the meat tasted old. On a positive note, the cabbage in all the dishes was great, with excellent crunch and flavor.
I just picked my order up and the chicken looks and tastes old. I believe they used meat from before the ice storm and served it up when they opened today. Receipt says no refunds, so I’ll be disputing this through my bank. $35 for old stale meat, rice, even the damn plantains was old! Never again. And I’ve eaten here several times.
If I could give 0 stars I absolutely would. Stopped in to try the jerk wings. Never have I ever had wings so disgusting. I bite one and that was it. I threw the plate away. They were old and hard over cooked twice fried and smothered in hot and spicy sauce. Rice and peas were dry and with no flavor. I had bad food before but nothing like this. Service was ok the girl at the counter was not rude, however when I came in to check on my food and ask if they could add some gravy on the rice the young lady at the counter was so polite, but the lady in the back yelled out is she giving you a problem! The chicken patty’s were good with flavor. I pretty much wasted my time and money.
