Absolutely the most authentic, delicious and perfectly portioned food I have ever eaten. Finally, a place that exceeds everything you could ask for. Puerto Rico finally has a spot in Miami. Everyone should come try it. Cant say enough.
Authentic Puerto Rican food in little Havana!!! The food is spot on. The servers are top notch and well versed on their dishes. The great thing about Puerto Rican food is the dishes are often made of fruits and vegetables with protein and rice. Add those seasons and you are on your way!!! Why go to PR to try these delicious recipes. Just stop on in.
We came for Liv♥️ music I didn’t realize how clean cozy and familial it would feel before we had dinner. It was amazing. Highly recommend garlic. Shrimp. Service was great. Awesome
From the moment we walked in, the service at Mofongo Restaurant was excellent. The staff was attentive, friendly, and welcoming. The atmosphere was warm, vibrant, and inviting, making it a great place to enjoy a meal. We started with the bacalaito frito, which was perfectly crispy and full of flavor. For our main dishes, we had the churrasco mofongo and the chuleta kan kan. Both were incredible. The churrasco was tender and flavorful, and the mofongo complemented it beautifully. The chuleta kan kan was massive and delicious, easily enough for two people in my opinion. To end the night, we had the tres leches dessert, which was probably the best I have ever had. It was moist, rich, and just sweet enough. I highly recommend Mofongo Restaurant. The food, service, and atmosphere were all exceptional. I will definitely be coming back.
Wow what an amazing experience I had eating at this traditional Puerto Rican restaurant. As soon as I walked in I felt the love and the cultural. The menu offered so many delicious choices but I stuck with Mofongo and Lobster. Started with Pina Colladas that were so beautiful and delicious I could of had two more. The actual lobster was great and of course I had dessert too. Thank you for making the experience so memorable I can’t wait to go back... Fast forward to almost five years new location new place same old great food yay happy the new place is larger and offers music and dancing.
It was truly a pleasure to witness the Colon brothers in action at their new El Mofongo Restaurant location. The energy of the place is contagious, and you can tell that they’re bringing something special to the community. Diego, was a great server and is going to make a big impact — a true Boricua taking care of “nosotros, los clientes boricuas.” We were two couples who tried the “Serenata de Bacalao,” mofongo with Yuca and Plátano, and the flan de queso — honestly, one of the best I’ve ever had. A super cold Medalla beer was the perfect complement, taking the meal to the next level. Our friends ordered the “Bistec Encebollado,” which was amazing, and the Sancocho de Pollo soup of the day was just perfect. Everything was outstanding! Omar, the owner, stopped by our table to ask for feedback, and you can tell he truly cares about the experience. Wishing you all the best in your new location – good luck, and keep up the great work!
Arrived to Mofongo’s today after a recommendation and it didn’t disappoint. Our server was excellent, ambiance was very similar as being in Puerto Rico. Loved their outfits, went extremely well with the theme and food was outstanding. While visiting Miami or when near Calle 8, it should be an official stop. Prices are definitely in the higher end but you’re in Miami can’t expect much. It was definitely a great experience.
Our dining experience at this restaurant was outstanding. Every course, from appetizer to main entree, demonstrated exceptional quality. The breaded steak with cheese, bacon, and guava was a standout dish. The atmosphere and service made our visit even more memorable, a true gem in Miami.
We wanted to try this place out last time we came out but the reservations list was closed and the standby wait was over 2hrs. Was worried about the hype not being worth it but this time we came there was no wait (during the week) and the food absolutely took me back to the island. Everything was phenomenal! My tummy is grumbling just writing this review & wanting to eat here again. I could list everything we tried and rate it but they would all be 5 stars hands down! Definitely make the reservation and Definitely make this a have to eat spot when your in Miami!! Wepa!
I have to say that I had been visiting this place for a long time and the truth is that we have been surprised. The place is very cozy and clean, it is also large, we thought it was much smaller. Their food is very good, well prepared, good flavor and presentation. The attention was excellent, out of 10, we were attended by Miss Julia, very friendly, professional, attentive to her customers, she really makes you feel like family. Highlight that the guys who went to the table to bring the food or to serve water or the lady who came in and accommodated us at the table, were all very attentive.
Was here back in October 2025. Had a great experience here. Food was delicious, and the whole staff was super nice and welcoming. It was Halloween weekend so they were all dressed up. They have music playing with the music video on multiple TVs. They eventually switch to live music later in the evening. The restaurant was very clean and modern. Will be back!
We enjoyed our time there in the bar area and had some delicious Puerto Rican bites! Not many Puerto Rican restaurants in Miami-Dade County only a handful and this one is on the top because of the decor, ambience the food. 🇵🇷🙏✌️
If you're looking for puerto rican food, this is where you want to go. Every dish we got was incredible. Seriously! The morfongo itself was the best i've ever had. It's not dry or overcooked at all. The service was very good, but the later it got in the evening it started to get busier, so the service started to dwindle. There is not a doubt in my mind that we will be back to this restaurant.
Such a great selection of traditional Puerto Rican food. Portions are full and service is excellent. I really enjoyed the previous location but the newer is larger which I am happy they have grown and can serve more. Just wish the vibe was little warmer in art and color as previous. Great team tho
We had a wonderful experience - food was amazing but the attention was on point! Daniel was our waiter and he made us feel like family and the Cuban manager omg like he knew us from years! This is the real puertorican experience, music, ambience, everything was top knotch - 100% recommend
I'm Puerto Rican myself but have missed the home cooked meals like my family makes. And when we came to this restaurant, EVERYTHING was top notch. The music, the warm environment, the food, and the drinks 🍸 👌
As a Boricua all I can say is I was transported back home; the food, the environment and the service all above and beyond. It was my first time and I can tell you that it will not be the last. Came to celebrate my daughter’s 25th birthday and we had an amazing time. Highly recommend!
Puerto Rico Cousin Restaurant exceeded our expectations. The steak was juicy and full of flavor, and the appetizers were incredibly tasty. We were five people, and every dish we tried was enjoyed by all of us. Amazing food and a very enjoyable dining experience.
I had such a wonderful experience at Mofongo’s in Miami! The food was absolutely delicious—full of flavor and beautifully prepared. The service was excellent; the staff was attentive, friendly, and made the dining experience feel special. On top of that, the ambience was warm and inviting, the perfect mix of lively and cozy. I would definitely visit again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for amazing food and great vibes in Miami!
Grat , tasty food, pleasant atmosphere, helpful staff. We had Julia as our waitress and she was amazing.
My favorite restaurant in Calle 8! Love the Mofongo vegetarian or shrimp and the service is always great! A lot of food for one person. Always come here with my visitors from Germany!
What a great place to eat and chill. We have not had mofongo in years and this place did not disappoint. Food was delicious, we did not get any drinks or dessert.
If your looking for an upscale Puertorican restaurant than this is the place in miami. The food was delicious and great service. I ordered alcapurrias, surullitos, pasteles as appetizers. For the main dish I went with the chuleta kan kan ,arroz con gandules, mofongo and my wife had mofongo with churrasco.
Yesterday we visited Mofongo Restaurant for the first time and were delighted with the atmosphere, the service, and of course the food; everything was delicious. We received personalized attention from Julia, a cheerful, attentive woman who was always concerned about us and our needs. We didn't have to wait long because we had made a reservation, and we even got in before our scheduled time. Everyone was delighted with the food: the sancocho was delicious, the shrimp mofongo was delicious, and the rest of the dishes were delicious, too. The drinks were also excellent. Our family reunion at Mofongo was excellent, and we highly recommend it.

Had a great time with my husband here. The restaurant is small but very nice! I loved the paintings on the wall, the food came out quick and fresh, the bathrooms were clean. Will definitely be back when I'm in the area. I don't remember my waiters name but she was amazing! Very knowledgeable about the menu (the menu was in spanish).
Great place to eat Puertorrican Food but careful checking your check at the end for the double tip! We arrived at the restaurant again, this time with friends. We were 9 and they easily accomodated us. Waitresses and Waiters were using the tradditional Jibaro dress. Food as always great. Once we finished and we asked for the bill, the 18% tip was already included and the waiter said that the tip was to be distributed among the entire tip so additional tip is what would go directly to him. This policy seemed to us rude and offensive. My wife confussed gave an additional $10 and so did our friends. Other than that, great. Recommendation to the Restaurant, tip is to reward great service and internal policies must be keep internally.
I visited this past Saturday. The place is huge & nicely decorated & has a live dj. When we got there we were told it was a 2hr wait & the empty tables were being saved for reservations. We then asked if we could sit at the bar and were told yes. We waited at the bar for atleast 15 minutes before a man finally approached us, in which we asked for a food menu. When we asked for the food menu he got somewhat upset and told us that we needed to sit at a table if we wanted food, (even though everyone else at the bar was also eating food). THANKFULLY, Hortencia (I hope I spelled her name correctly), stepped in & said she would take our orders. The service she provided was amazing! You could tell she was not hired as a server, (rather a barback likely), but she made sure to put the orders in the computer correctly & checked in on us frequently. We even observed her helping her coworkers with their drinks & helping translate for those who didn’t speak Spanish. She explained to us the food would take some time because they were very behind (which was fine). We waited atleast an hour but the food was very delicious. I ordered the mofongo con camarones, piña coladas & coquito. We also noticed the tables that were originally ‘reserved’ for reservations were never actually filled. Thank you again to Hortencia for providing such great service. We really appreciate you and we hope you received the extra tip we gave you! I think the other server who tried to deny us food was just overwhelmed, the restaurant was busy so we understand :) Overall I would give this place another try!
Shrimp Mofongo was good, we got the Criollo one with the red sauce, maybe a little more of sauce could be better. Tostones rellenos were very good as well. Drinks are very good but the dessert was probably too sweet, we got the flan de queso. I would probably come back to try the other Mofongos 😋
This place recently re-opened in a new location not very far from its original spot. It is quite large now and they have upgraded their decor significantly. Upon entering you’re greeted by tall ceilings and a large open dining space. They also have a long bar with seating. Most weekends, it looks fairly busy. I came in on a Thursday with a friend for dinner. The hostess was sweet and asked if we had reservations, which we did not, but I will say for an early Thursday evening, we were fine. There were a couple of dinners seated, but overall there were plenty of tables open. Our waiter informed us we were still in time to enjoy happy hour, so I asked for the white sangria and my friend had a beer. My sangria was painfully sweet. Truly, not something I would recommend. My friend ordered the churrasco main dish, which I believe came with two sides. I tried the steak and I really liked it. Very juicy and cooked to order medium perfectly, with a nice pink center. I ordered the shrimp off “la parrilla,” I asked if it came with sauce and he said he could bring me garlic sauce on the side, but the shrimp came in like a butter garlic sauce. So, I’m not sure if that is how the dish truly comes or if it was a modification because of my question. Regardless, I enjoyed the dish anyway, which I ordered with tostones, and were well made. All in all, I would come back here. This place makes a nice backdrop for a date night or for a large group celebrating an event.

This was our first time dining at Mofongo, located on SW 8th street. After reviewing their menu for hidden charges, we decided to order 1 Piña Colada, three Mofongos (2 porks and 1skirt steak); 1 vanilla Flan. Their menu did not indicated a service fee or any additional charges would be add to the final bill. Here are some of the pros / cons of our experience: Pros: The food was delicious and service was good. Cons: Another server eating near the bar / clean dishes, while picking at her nose and tending to customers 🤢. At the end of our meal we received our bill, which had an 18% service fee included. When our server noticed me examine the bill, she quickly walked over to explain the service fee was not the tip; the service fee will be divided among all of the staff. I handed her my credit card and $100 with instructions on how to divide the payment; how I wanted my change. For some reasons it took 10 minutes to process my payment. While waiting on my payment to process I noticed a gentleman messing with the credit card machine. I don’t know what he was doing nor why it took so long to cash out my check. Anyways I was planning on tipping the service 15 %, in addition to 18% service fee. However when I received the change, I noticed the server did not follow my instructions, so I asked her to break $20, she told me the restaurant did not have change. Since I felt this was a setup to get additional money, I left without providing a tip. In my opinion the service fee is the tip. Dinner beware!
I went here for anniversary, looking for good Puerto Rican food but sadly very disappointed the food was a little poor and the prices too high, for what they serve. They add service charge plus I saw if you pay with credit card you have to pay too extra. And the atmosphere not ever Puerto Rican style it looks like a sport bar . A little disappointed.
Nice looking place. Live music was brief but really good. The chicken pastelillos (empanadas) were really good, try those. Mofongo churrasco was good $32. Tried mofongo shirmp it was ok. Tried the pechuga reyena it was ok. Kids chicken tenders were ok. I had the guavate (arroz gandules pork) it was ok. 5 adults, 1 child. 2 margaritas $16 each. 2 beers $8 each. 2 piña coladas $28. 3 extra sides. Total $285 tip is included in tab. Unfortunately the 2nd floor was closed but looked really nice to dine up there.
Puerto Rican born & raised on the island here to share my piece!! coming through haha 😅 …Went here with the fam for thanksgiving! It’s a beautiful establishment on the inside and outside. The mofongo is very big so i recommend sharing it with another person. I also felt like it was under seasoned and not really worth the price, but I wouldn’t say it was bad either. However, there is a man who comes into the restaurant selling corn. He calls himself the “manicero” and he has a little microphone. He talks about how he cultivates the corn himself and how long he’s been doing it. ITS A SCAM! I purchased one of his little packages of corn… It’s bought corn and wrapped in printer paper. Why do they let him into these restaurants so he can give people fake stories and scam them… that I do not know. It was annoying to hear him promote his fake corn on his microphone. Apart from this, the resturant was nice. A bit pricy for what it actually is… If anyone is interested in visiting more puerto rican restaurants I’d recommend you try “La Isla del Encanto” next. 🙂

Holy moly can I just say how abysmal this experience was. I am extremely disappointed over how this entire experience was as it was one of the restaurants I was most excited to try while visiting Miami. My friends and I tried various items on the menu and some were great like the mofongo but others were just poorly prepared/served to guests. Some items like the Queso Frito, Tostones Rellenos, and the Churrasco were served to us cold and in the tostones case hard. The service was also subpar even though it was not busy as I assume they usually are. We were not regularly checked on (water not replenished as other tables were frequented often, no napkins given to us, and our check was given to us so slowly after clean up) Yet the opposite was true for later arriving tables. Some tables arrived after us and left before us. We felt like very much an afterthought than a guest. I talked to manager about all of this and I could tell he could not really care. (Even though our bill was over $200!!!) Again highly disappointing that this was the experience for us but wanted to forewarn folks who travel far for this restaurant as it might not be the experience you expect.
We went to eat at this restaurant because we were told the food was delicious, and we were really excited to eat there. When we arrived, we waited quite a while to be served. Then the waitress took us to a table, and it was dirty. She told us to wait while they cleaned it. We waited for about 10 minutes, and they never cleaned the table. I told the waitress we were leaving because they ignored us, and she didn't even care… I feel sorry for the owners who have such bad employees. We then went to eat at El Toro Loco, and we loved everything. The food, the service… excellent… nothing better than being made to feel welcome.
Went in for pick up due to parking. It is hard to find a restaurant that sells authentic Puerto Rican food. However, they are limited in what they sell as they only have one menu of Puerto Rican food. We only order the alcapurrias and bacalaitos and while we waited a Virgen pina colada. So we waited close to 45 minutes to get the following. 5 alcapurrias- they were tasty but small for the price. Bacalaitos- we ordered 5 but only got 4. They were extremely salty, hard, and skinny. Not worth it at all! Virgin Pina Colada- asked for it to go. She served it in a glass and when I reminded her that I asked for it to go she responds with well what do you want me to do? And she was all over the place not taking care of customers in order. Good music but overall I will not go back ever. They should advertise better and be 100% transparent. They didn’t even know what an empanadilla de pizza was when I asked. I do hope they adapt and do better.
Recently ate here. Food is a bit overpriced and portions are a bit small. They charge 20% service tourism fee just for eating there. 😒-- I do not think it goes to the server. I did call after and the manager was very nice and she reversed my charge of the service fee. But I hope the restaurant gets rid of it. 🤬🤬🤬 Nice atmosphere. I loved the screen with the drone shots of PR.👍 Food was OK. The server, he was nice, but was on his cell phone much -and not very attentive to us. A bit over priced. Need larger portions. (We ordered from the lunch menu)
We were party of two and ordered two dishes only but waited for more than 40 minutes which is fine if it’s fair for everyone. However, two parties of four who came after us all had food before us. No apologies or anything. And the pork was really salty
What a great place. Veronica our waitress was the best. It was her 3rd day but she was wonderful. And the food!!!! All was great. The best beans I had. True Puerto Rican taste!
Thugs! Summary: 1- Reservations are not honored 2- Bouncer-like manager 3- Good food, nothing like” LaPlacita(RIP)” On Sunday 9/14/2025 we arrived few minutes early for our dinner reservation. As usual ( we come here once every other week ) our table was not ready after waiting 20 minutes (13 past reservation time). As soon as as a table was open we sat in it because quite frankly you can’t count on them to honor reservations. We did not care it was still dirty, I am diabetic and needed to eat. But the table was wobbly and there were several better tables empty. We asked for one and we were denied. We asked for a manager. He first stopped at the hostess with the Mexican accent. She probably filled his head with lies because by the time he arrived to our table, he had an aggressive demeanor, making hand gestures, more like a bouncer than a manager. In consideration to my husband, I speak English to respect his partial deafness and limited Spanish.. The manager, forced a Spanish conversation because he was “ in a Puerto Rican restaurant“, more likely he does not speak English, maybe Honduran? He was was very rude, arrogant, verbally aggressive and had no manners towards us. His demeanor and hand gestures were threatening. I told him he was a “grocero” (rude in Spanish ) since he wanted to speak in Spanish and we left in a hurry, afraid for our safety. We should have called the police. For reference, we are senior citizens in our mid 60s and we are short; the manager was closer to 6’9”. They canceled our Open Table reservation so we could not respond their usual after dinner survey. We complained to Open Table, to no avail. Now we use Resy or call directly for reservations. The kind of customers we are: we are big spenders and generous tippers . Where ever we go people receive us with hugs and kisses. We are welcome everywhere. Every restaurant we go people get out of the way to service us,.. Needless to say we are never coming back here. We wish La Placita was open, but for whatever reason they’re closed and they are not much other options around. We did go to a closer restaurant which was about 10 minute drive down tbe road and we had our great dinner there. The pictures are from the other restaurant where we have a beautiful Hispanic dinner to a great service. I am very good at predicting which restaurants will close soon, and have been right nine out of 10 times. This one will close soon. Try Versailles, La Carreta or Metropol for better food and better service.

MI Kfe: Miami's Heart for Authentic Puerto Rican Flavors
Miami has no shortage of vibrant culinary scenes, but for a true taste of the island, MI Kfe stands out as a genuine gem, particularly beloved in the lively Calle 8 area. This isn't just another restaurant; it's a vibrant journey to Puerto Rico right here in the city. They’ve recently moved to a new, much grander location, not far from their original spot, and let me tell you, the upgrade is impressive. You’re greeted by tall ceilings and a spacious, open dining area that feels both elegant a...
